Christopher Adam Inthavanavong

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Ilwaco Junior-Senior High School in Ilwaco, Wash., for Christopher Adam Inthavanavong, who died Jan. 26 in an automobile accident at age 13.

Christopher was born June 28, 1987, in Portland. In 1991, his family moved to Ilwaco. He was in the eighth grade at Ilwaco Junior-Senior High School.

Survivors include his mother, Annette DeClue; father, Phone Inthavanavong; and brother, Dale Bartley.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery in Gresham. Arrangements are by Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Astoria.

Roy Larson

Roy Larson died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at age 80. No service will be held. Mr. Larson was born May 20, 1920, in New Norway, Alberta. A Portland resident since 1970, he was a maintenance worker and a member of Mount Tabor Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1970, he married Beverly Annetta Bunnell.

Survivors include his wife; sisters, Ruby Larson, Lola Larson and Marjorie Sayler; and brothers, Ernest and Orval.

His body was donated to Oregon Health Sciences University for medical research. The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity. Arrangements were by Zeller Chapel of the Roses.

George Henry Martin

George Henry Martin died Jan. 26, 2001, of cancer at age 80. There will be no service. Mr. Martin was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Portland. He graduated from Commerce High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's mate during World War II. He moved to California and worked as a quality control inspector for Western Gear, retiring in 1974 to take care of his mother. He later moved to Arizona and then returned to Oregon, settling in Gresham.

Survivors include his cousin, Ralph Turner, and his cousin's wife, Edith.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Arrangements are by Wilhelm Funeral Home.

Chun Im Nam

A funeral will be at noon Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Korean Mission Evangelical Church of Oregon, 9100 S.W. Wilshire St., for Chun Im Nam, who died Jan. 31 at the Korean age of 81. Mrs. Nam was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Chung Nam, Korea. She immigrated to Hawaii in 1976, and moved to Portland in 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of the church. About 1936, she married Hyoung Nam; he died about 1983.

Survivors include her sons, Kwang, Ricky and K.J.; daughters, Pok Nam, Pok H. Yun, June Suehisa and Jenny Hong; brother, Ji Kim; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Family Memorial Mortuary.

Jonas W. 'Red' Nyberg

Jonas W. "Red" Nyberg died Jan. 18, 2001, at age 81. A private service was held. Mr. Nyberg was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Tualatin where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Tigard High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a maintenance worker, first for Dickinson's Jams and Jellies, then for the Ramada Inn in Tualatin and later for Fender Music, retiring in 1996. He moved to Sherwood in 1986. For a number of years, he was a fireman and volunteer for the Tualatin Rural Fire Department. In 1948, he married Bonnie Jolly.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Orrie Waller; son, Cleve; brother, Willis; sisters, Zira Howard and Cecil Dunmire; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon Chapter. Arrangements are by Young's Funeral Home & Crematory.

Elaine Madelle Peterson

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for Elaine Madelle Peterson, who died Jan. 28 at age 81. Mrs. Peterson was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Chicago. Her maiden name was Wenstrand. She moved in 1946 to Portland and in 1958 to Los Angeles, where she was a data specialist for Mobil Oil, retiring in 1963. She moved in 1997 from Sun City, Calif., to Gresham. In 1939, she married Gerald R. Gray; he died in 1954. She married Gordon Peterson in 1962; he died in 1976.

Survivors include her son, Robert Gray; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. The family suggests remembrances to the American Lung Association.

Elmer Dee Pileggi

A memorial Mass will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Mt. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro for Elmer Dee Pileggi, who died Jan. 25 of cancer at age 62. Mr. Pileggi was born Dec. 28, 1938, in Portland and was raised in Sherwood. He graduated from Sherwood High School and from a barber school. He owned Dee's Plaza Barber Shop in Tigard for about 15 years and then was a distributor for Valvoline Oil for about 15 years before retiring in 1989. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Scappoose and in 1983 to Hillsboro. He was a member of the church. In 1983, he married Margo Melendez.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Geoffrey Pileggi, Anthony Pileggi, Bradley Pileggi, Richard McPherson and Warren McPherson; daughter, Margottina McPherson-Veron; brothers, Vito T., Tom, Mike and Richard; sisters, Verna T. Jackson and Charla Moreland; and one grandchild.

Interment is in Fir Lawn cemetery in Hillsboro. The family suggests remembrances to the scholarship fund at St. Matthew Catholic School. Arrangements are by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home.

Wesley T. Preston

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Lents Baptist Church for Wesley T. Preston, who died Jan. 24 of a heart attack at age 64. Mr. Preston was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Sturgis, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962 and then lived in Coquille before moving in the mid-1960s to Portland. He worked in heavy-equipment maintenance for 11 years and for the past 11 years worked for Graphic Arts Center as a custodian. In 1965, he married Rosalie Holoch.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Gloria; son, David; mother, Margaret Murphy; brother, Bruce; and sisters, Grace Melody and Delores Oster.

Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements are by Aftercare Burial & Cremation Service.

Anna O. Rutan

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors for Anna O. Rutan, who died Jan. 29 of liver disease at age 73. Mrs. Rutan was born Jan. 11, 1928, in South Norwalk, Conn. Her maiden name was Ohlmann. She moved in 1960 to Portland and was an office manager for Radiologists Consultants for 10 years before her retirement in 1980. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. In 1958, she married George Rutan.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Kathleen Seabolt, Linda Van Buren and Joanne Navarro; brothers, William Ohlmann and Arthur Ohlmann; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Ethel B. Scott

Ethel B. Scott died Jan. 23, 2001, at age 90. A private memorial service will be held. Mrs. Scott was born Dec. 19, 1910, in DeQuincy, La. Her maiden name was Brown. She moved to Portland in 1962. She worked at a linen manufacturing plant, as a live-in health care provider and as a homemaker. She was a member of the Apostolic Worship Center in Gresham. She married Lester W. Scott in 1945; he died in 1955.

Survivors include her daughter, Lois Parker; brother, Arthur Brown; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. Her daughter Alberta Brown died in 1981.

Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Apostolic Worship Center, 18631 N.E. Glisan St., Gresham, OR 97230. Arrangements were by Ross Hollywood Chapel.

LaVerne W. 'Skip' Sellers

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Valley Community Presbyterian Church in Beaverton for LaVerne W. "Skip" Sellers, who died Jan. 28 of a heart attack at age 64. Mrs. Sellers was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Yuma, Ariz. Her maiden name was Wright. She moved to Portland in 1940 and graduated from Grant High School and from Lewis & Clark College. She was a free-lance writer and editor, most recently writing a column called "Saints and Sinners" for several online companies. In 1965, she moved to Arlington, Va., and later lived in the Philippines for five years before moving to Gaston in 1989. She was a member of the church. In 1957, she married David Sellers.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Theresa Schamper; sons, Stephen, Michael, John, Christopher and Charles; stepmother, Maxine Wright; brother, James Wright; and 10 grandchildren.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Portland Rescue Mission. Arrangements are by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home.

Lorraine Smith

Lorraine Smith died Nov. 25, 2000, at age 86. No service was held. Ms. Smith was born June 30, 1914, in Ashland and moved in the 1930s to Portland. She spent the rest of her years in Portland and devoted her professional life to X-ray technology. She was the senior X-ray technician in the office of Drs. Lucas, Chinard, Begg and Noall, orthopedic surgeons, before becoming head of the Radiology Department at Good Samaritan Hospital, retiring in 1975. A member of the American Society of Radiologic Technicians since 1949, she served as a counselor to the organization and became a Fellow in 1960. At that time, she was one of only 18 to have received that honor. She became an emeritus member in the early 1970s. She was a past president of The Oregon Society of X-Ray Technicians. She was involved in education and training throughout her professional life and contributed to professional journals.

She has no survivors.

Disposition is by cremation. Her friends suggest remembrances to Providence Medical Foundation Child Center Fund. Arrangements were by Caldwell Colonial Chapel.

Betty Jane Stockam

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Attrell's Sherwood Funeral Chapel for Betty Jane Stockam, who died Jan. 29 at age 64. Mrs. Stockam was born July 4, 1936, in Morrisville, Pa. Her maiden name was Brady. She lived in Phoenix, Ariz., before moving to Sherwood in 1947. She attended Sherwood High School. She was a homemaker and a longtime Milwaukie resident. In 1953, she married Joe Stockam.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Sherri; and sisters, Rhoda A. Patterson and Patricia A. Fry.

Interment is in Gibbs cemetery near Newberg. The family suggests remembrances to the American Diabetes Association.
