Eleanor G. Escalante

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Zeller Chapel of the Roses for Eleanor G. Escalante, who died June 14 at age 62. Mrs. Escalante was born Eleanor Gonzales on Oct. 14, 1938, in Waukegan, Ill. She moved to Portland in 1972 and was a homemaker. In 1976, she married Joe G. Escalante; he died in 1996.

Survivors include her sons, Carlos Cruz, Eddie Ramirez and Ezequiel Ramirez Jr.; daughters, Theresa Sollers, Maria Cruz De Lara, Lillie Cruz, Donna Ramirez and Patty Welday; stepdaughter, Katrina Escalante-Chavira; brother, Jim Gonzales; sister, Carmon Gonzales; 30 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery.

Joseph Maxmillian Garcia

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Adams Chapel in River View cemetery for Joseph Maxmillian Garcia, who died June 11 at age 71. Mr. Garcia was born March 19, 1930, in Trinidad, Colo. He moved to Portland in the mid-1940s and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a self-employed barber and later was a steel fabricator until retiring. He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1996. In 1957, he married Hildred Lickar.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Mike and Nick; daughter, Donna Baer; sisters, Nancy Black and Dodie Bartoszek; and three grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to the Phoenix Veterans Medical Center in Arizona. Arrangements by Family Memorial.

Wallace Rolland Gendron

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Portland for Wallace Rolland Gendron, who died June 14 at age 78. Mr. Gendron was born March 4, 1923, in Berlin, N.H. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II in Europe. He moved to Portland after the war and was a salesman and manager for several companies, including U-Haul Co., until retiring. In 1945, he married Alicia Frances Niebergall; she died in 1996.

Survivors include his daughters, Alicia M. Berger, Kathleen A. McKinney and Michelle T. Schmitt; son, Charles B.; brothers, Ernest J. Jr. and Russell; sister, Irene C. Tirabassi; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Interment in Gethsemani Catholic Mausoleum. Remembrances to Providence Hospice. Arrangements by Mt. Scott.

Harry Green

Harry Green died June 10, 2001, at age 85. Mr. Green was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Portland. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Europe. He was a meat cutter at Fred Meyer for 36 years, retiring in 1982. In 1946, he married Clara Adams; she died in 1983.

Survivors include his sons, Rick and Mike; brother, Clifford; and sisters, Lucille Lavorato and Mary Klaus.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to the Providence Portland Medical Foundation. Arrangements by Holman's.

James E. Harrington

James E. Harrington died June 2, 2001, at age 71. Mr. Harrington was born April 12, 1930, in Rembrandt, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He held several jobs, including supervisor, in the cement and steel industries and later was an apartment manager until his retirement in 1992. He moved to Scappoose in 1969. In 1988, he married Sherri Johnson.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Jeanne Goursuch and Patricia D.; sons, James D. and Michael S.; sister, Martha Rhodes; brothers, Charlie and Roger; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A service will be held later. Arrangements by Omega.

Mary Thompson Hollingsworth died May 27, 2001, at age 89.

Mrs. Hollingsworth was born Mary Hager on May 9, 1912, in Chicago. She was a homemaker. She moved to Lake Grove in 1992. She moved to Canby in 1996. She married Robert V. Hollingsworth in 1940; he died in 1992.

Survivors include her son, Robert C.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No service. Arrangements by Hillside Chapel.

Kenneth Hudnut

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Donelson, Sewell & Mathews Mortuary for Kenneth Hudnut, who died June 13 at age 53. Mr. Hudnut was born June 25, 1947, in Portland and graduated from Benson High School. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Vietnam War and later served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He was a parts order clerk for Tektronix and later a landscaper.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Skipper; and brothers, Ronald Johnson and Walter Johnson.

Remembrances to the American Heart Association.

Norton H. Langworthy

Norton H. Langworthy died June 1, 2001, at age 87. Mr. Langworthy was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Los Angeles. He moved to the Portland area about 20 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Melba, sons, Irv and Russ; stepson, Bill McCroskey Sr.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Private service. Arrangements by Heritage Memorial.

Dale H. Magnuson

Dale H. Magnuson died June 6, 2001, at age 72. Mr. Magnuson was born April 1, 1929, in Polk County, Wis. He was an Army veteran and served in Korea. He was a cutter and mason at the Boise Cascade paper mill in St. Helens and retired in 1988. He married Jan Evans in 1954.

Survivors include a wife; son, James; sister, Opal Soltis; brothers, Russell and Donald; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. His daughter, Tracy Ann Roland, died in 1990.

Private service. Remembrances to Legacy Hospice. Arrangements by Wilhelm.

Donald Earle Marx Sr.

A service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Donald Earle Marx Sr., who died June 15 at age 82. Mr. Marx was born Sept. 1, 1918, in The Dalles. He moved to the Portland area as a child and graduated from Sandy High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a self-employed land surveyor until retiring in 1980. In 1944, he married Grace Norman; she died in 1991.

Survivors include his sons, Doug E., Don E. Jr., Dale E. and Duane E; sister, Adelle Miller; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements by Bateman-Carroll.

Fie McLaughlin

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, in Skyline Memorial Funeral Home for Fie McLaughlin, who died June 13 at age 81. Mr. McLaughlin was born May 21, 1920, in David City, Neb. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Afterward, he moved to Portland and was a painter for FMC Corp. (later Gunderson Inc.), retiring in 1982. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church. In 1944, he married Charlyne Arvidson; she died in 1990.

Survivors include his daughters, Sheri Dawson and Sandi Percell; son, Gary; brother, Marion; and seven grandchildren.

Interment in Skyline Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the American Diabetes Association.

Thomas S. McMaster

A memorial Mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego for Thomas S. McMaster, who died June 13 at age 46. Mr. McMaster was born April 14, 1955, in Portland. He graduated from Lakeridge High School and was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include his mother, Margery D.; brothers, Douglas and Peter; and sisters, Mary J. Jorgensen and Martha McMaster.

Jeanette H. Partridge

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, in Morningside United Methodist Church in Salem for Jeanette H. Partridge, who died June 14 at age 80. Mrs. Partridge was born Jeanette H. Hudson on Feb. 15, 1921, in Portland. She graduated from Franklin High School and Oregon College of Education and was a teacher in several Salem-area schools. She was a charter member of the church. In 1944, she married Douglas Partridge Sr.; he died in 1968.

Survivors include her daughters, Cassie Fessler and Ivy Partridge; sons, Doug, Dave, Al, Bruce, Frank and Scott; sister, Vera Everman; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Interment in Brooks Pioneer cemetery in Brooks. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden in Salem.
