Ralph Brown

A service will be at noon Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Ralph Brown, who died June 7 at age 75. Mr. Brown was born June 20, 1925, in Wenatchee, Wash. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Milwaukie in 1970. He was a bus driver for Greyhound for 30 years, retiring in 1986, then drove school buses for the North Clackamas School District for seven years until 2000. In 1950, he married Shirley Greinke.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Debbie Canfield, Judy Bargender, Jean Salsbery and Janet Brown; son, Jim; brother, Keith; sisters, Gail McKinney and Marcia Mills; and six grandchildren.

Remembrances to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Stehn's.

Kermit Winston Campbell

A service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Kermit Winston Campbell, who died June 5 at age 90. Mr. Campbell was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Colfax, Wash. He graduated from the University of Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1964, when he moved to Portland. He served during World War II in the Pacific. In 1934, he married Betty Day; she died in 1982. In 1984, he married Helen F. Thomas.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Nora L. Bell and Nancy J. Scott; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Quinten Douthit

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday June 11, 2001, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Quinten Douthit, who died June 7 at age 83. Mr. Douthit was born July 11, 1917, in Littleville, Ala. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1936 to 1938, and moved to Portland in 1942. He was a welder for 39 years and retired from Cascade Corp. in 1980. In 1944, he married Betty Howard.

Survivors include his wife; sons, David, Dwight and Bruce; daughter, Barbara Wilson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Interment in Brainard cemetery. Remembrances to Grant Park Baptist Church. Arrangements by Gateway Chimes.

Dorothy Irene Foryan

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Park for Dorothy Irene Foryan, who died June 6 at age 81. Mrs. Foryan was born Dorothy Irene Knutson on Aug. 3, 1919, in Windom, Minn. She moved to Portland in 1945 and was a secretary for several companies and government agencies, retiring from the Bonneville Power Administration in 1981. In 1977, she married John Foryan; he died in 1992.

Survivors include her brothers, Glenn Knutson, Donald Knutson and Bert Knutson; and sister, Margaret Boynton.

Nick Kaiser

A funeral will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, in Holman's Funeral Service for Nick Kaiser, who died June 7 at age 74. Recitation of the rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. before the service. Mr. Kaiser was born May 15, 1927, in Rosholt, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Portland in the mid-1960s and was an electrician for the Port of Portland until his retirement. He married Delores Streeter; she died in 1981.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda; son, Brian; brothers, Wally, Dwaine and Jack; sisters, Rosella Snearley, Annie Hrbacek, Helen Weigel, Florence Watkins and Virgie Donily; and three grandchildren. His son Curtis died in 1989.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association.

Margaret Sarah Klinger

A funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in St. Charles Catholic Church for Margaret Sarah Klinger, who died June 5 at age 94. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, June 11, in Zeller Chapel of the Roses. Mrs. Klinger was born Margaret Sarah Frainey on Oct. 5, 1906, in Portland. She owned Klinger's Markets in Gladstone and Portland with her husband and was also a bookkeeper for Wolfard Ford until retiring in the early 1970s. In 1930, she married Kermit A. Klinger; he died in 1990.

Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Geraldine Frainey, Doris Klinger and Patti Frainey; and nieces and nephews.

Interment in Mt. Calvary Catholic cemetery. Remembrances to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Clara Kobin

A funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, in Weinstein Chapel in Neveh Zedek-Rose City Lodge cemetery for Clara Kobin, who died June 9 at age 92. Ms. Kobin was born July 24, 1908, in Binghamton, N.Y. She moved to Portland in 1912 and graduated from Commerce High School. She was a saleswoman in the cosmetics department at Meier & Frank for more than 50 years until her retirement. Then she worked for Helen's Of Course for several years. She was a member of Congregation Neveh Shalom for more than 40 years.

Survivors include her nephew, Charles; and nieces, Susan Overbeck and Janis Trachtenberg.

Interment in Neveh Zedek-Rose City Lodge cemetery. Remembrances to Cedar Sinai Park. Arrangements by Holman's.

Warren Bruce Barner

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, in Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn for Warren Bruce Barner, who died June 6 at age 91. Mr. Barner was born Oct. 15, 1909, in Bushton, Kan. He moved to Amity at age 4 and worked on a dairy farm there for eight years. He served in the Oregon National Guard. In 1940, he moved to Gervais, where he served as a councilman and worked for a grain and feed mill for six years. He later worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 28 years until retiring as a foreman. He was a volunteer firefighter in Gervais for 20 years and was a Boy Scout and Explorer Scout leader. In 1937, he married Bertha Betty Brutke.

Survivors include his wife; son, Carl; daughters, Anita Blaumer and Alice Wright; sister, Genevieve Brutke; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Interment in Masonic cemetery in Gervais. Remembrances to Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice.

Elva Mae Bradbury

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, in Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes for Elva Mae Bradbury, who died June 5 at age 85. Mrs. Bradbury was born Elva Mae Wright on April 22, 1916, in Sioux City, Iowa, and was raised in Lake Andes, S.D. She moved to Portland from California in 1968. She was a homemaker and also an assembly worker for Boeing until retiring in 1981. In 1935, she married Francis Robert Bradbury; he died in 1993.

Survivors include her sons, Francis B., Merlyn W. and Leslie R.; daughter, Darlene C. Vielhauer; brother, Ray Kemery; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her son Dennis G. died in 1999.

Remembrances to any nature conservation organization.

Shirley Ann Corey

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, in the Beaverton Foursquare Church for Shirley Ann Corey, who died June 6 at age 59. Mrs. Corey was born Shirley Ann Nelson on April 20, 1942, in Portland. She graduated from Canby High School and Portland State University. She taught elementary school in the Milwaukie, Forest Grove and Hillsboro school districts and later was a substitute teacher in the Beaverton School District. In 1966, she married Dr. Randall Corey.

Survivors include her husband; sons, R. Keith Jr. and David A.; mother, Verna "Edna" Nelson; and brothers, Raymond Nelson, Jim Nelson, David Nelson and Donald Nelson.

Interment in Skyline Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Shirley Corey Memorial Children's Fund at any Key Bank. Arrangements by Skyline.

John C. DeJong

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, in Nazarene Church in McMinnville for John C. DeJong, who died June 6 at age 87. Mr. DeJong was born July 29, 1913, in Ballston. He moved to Tigard in 1939 and returned to Ballston in the early 1940s. In the late 1940s, he moved to a farm near Bellevue in Yamhill County. He was a farmer who raised grains and grasses and also operated a dairy. In 1972, he was named the Oregon League Growers Conservationist of the Year for the Willamette Valley. In 1937, he married Rema Pedranti; she died in 1994.

Survivors include his son, Calvin; daughters, Patricia Saunders and Pamela Wall; sisters, Catherine Massey and Nellie Zumwalt; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Interment in Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum in McMinnville. Remembrances to the Mid-Valley Workshop in Whiteson. Arrangements by Macy & Son in McMinnville.

Robert O. Hartley

A gathering will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, in the family home for Robert O. Hartley, who died May 4 at age 79. Mr. Hartley was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Vancouver, Wash. He served in the Navy during World War II and moved to Portland in 1949. He owned Big O Tires for 25 years before retiring in 1987. In 1943, he married Pearl B. Schulze.

Survivors include his wife; son, Ron; daughter, Allison Dornes; sisters, Roberta Kytola, Merle Matthews and Ruth Fradenberg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Arrangements by Davies Cremation & Burial Service.

William F. Homer

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, in the Canby Alliance Church for William F. Homer, who died May 31 at age 90. Mr. Homer was born July 12, 1910, in Provo, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved in 1998 to Portland. He was an orchard foreman for Harry & David Co. and retired in 1972. He married Viola Jackson in 1944; she died in 2000.

Survivors include his son, John; daughter, Priscilla Rickard; brother, Ray; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to American Diabetes Association. Arrangements by Mt. Scott.
