Richard L. Garlock

A gathering will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Tyee Yacht Club for Richard L. "Dick" Garlock, who died April 11 at age 76. Mr. Garlock was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Richfield, Idaho. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He graduated from the University of Idaho. He moved to Portland in 1950. An accountant, he owned R.L. Garlock Accounting (now Third Generation Accounting) for the past 50 years. He was past commodore of the Tyee Yacht Club and past commander of the Portland Power Squadron, past president of the National Society of Public Accountants and was the current executive director of the Oregon Association of Independent Accountants. In 1948, he married Wanda Merz.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Gordon and Devan; daughter, Susan G. Robertson; brother, Tom; sister, Martha McRill; and seven grandchildren.

Remembrances to the scholarship fund of the Oregon Association of Public Accountants. Arrangements by Rose City.

John Munson Gray

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Newberg for John Munson Gray, who died April 16 at age 72. Mr. Gray was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Navy. In 1963, he moved to St. Paul and was a grain and row crop farmer. Later, he was a building designer and then an investor until retiring in 1989. In 1951, he married Mary Hodges; she died in 1994.

Survivors include his sons, John Jr. and Andy; daughter, Joan Miller; and eight grandchildren. His daughter Malinda Feely died in 1997.

Interment in Valley View Memorial Park in Newberg. Arrangements by Attrell's Newberg.

Wilbert Harris

A funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Wilbert Harris, who died April 12 at age 79. Mr. Harris was born April 29, 1921, in Jacksonville, Texas. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe and received a Purple Heart. He moved to Portland in 1971 and was a truck driver for a railroad for 15 years, retiring in 1986. In 1946, he married Nellie Shepherd.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Wilbert Jr. and Bruce W.; daughters, Ella V. Anderson and Ella L. Hollingsworth; brother, Cecil; sisters, Hattie Greer, Armatha Allen and Ruth Lewis; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society.

Ruskie Lee Hines

A funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Vancouver, Wash., for Ruskie Lee Hines, who died April 14 at age 87. Mrs. Hines was born Ruskie Lee Berryman on March 22, 1914, in Crockett, Texas. In 1958, she moved to Vancouver and was a registered nurse for several hospitals and then a home health care worker until retiring in 1979. She was also a foster mother. In about 1968, she married Robert Hines; he died in 1994.

Survivors include her son, Rickey Murchinson; daughter, Dedorah Murchinson; and six grandchildren.

Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Fosta Lappi

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in Skyline Funeral Home for Fosta Lappi, who died April 14 at age 79. Mrs. Lappi was born Fosta Warner on March 13, 1922, in Stevensville, Mont. She moved to Portland in 1942 and was a homemaker. In 1942, she married Leo Lappi; he died in 1996.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosalind Lind; brother, Clayton Warner; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Interment in Skyline Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the American Diabetes Association.

Terri Jo Marceaux

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Skyline Memorial Gardens for Terri Jo Marceaux, who died April 15 of lung cancer at age 39. Mrs. Marceaux was born Terri Jo Johnson on July 10, 1961, in Worland, Wyo., and was raised in Portland. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and was an assistant manager for the West Linn Zupan's Market before retiring because of poor health in 2000. In 1990, she married Steven Ingram.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Jamie Jackson and Steven Ingram Jr.; mother and stepfather, Charles and Alice Moore; brothers, Lee Moore, Robert Johnson and Robert Moore; and sisters, Pamela Ward and Shirley Taylor.

Arrangements by Omega.

Leah Menache

A funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Gevurtz Chapel in Ahavai Sholom cemetery for Leah Menache, who died April 15 at age 87. Mrs. Menache was born Leah Menasche on Sept. 9, 1913, in New York City. She moved to Portland in 1934, where she worked in her husband's produce business for 25 years, then was a sales clerk in the women's wear department of the downtown Meier & Frank for more than 10 years, retiring in the late 1970s. She was a former member of Ahavath Achim synagogue and a volunteer for the Oregon Lung Association. In 1934, she married David S. Menache; he died in 1974.

Survivors include her sons, Stanley and Edward; brother, Salvo Menasche; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Woodrow Wilson Mines

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Bateman-Carroll Funeral Home for Woodrow Wilson "Woodie" Mines, who died April 15 at age 83. Mr. Mines was born Dec. 3, 1917, in Estill Springs, Tenn. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and in the Portland shipyards during World War II. He was a delivery driver for a bakery, a carpenter for Lee Construction for about 20 years, and a maintenance supervisor for Tektronix for 15 years, retiring in 1982. In 1944, he married Evelyn Koeneman; she died in 1997.

Survivors include his sons, Jim, Woody Jr., John, Burnell and Ben; daughters, Karen House and Dorothy Owen; stepson, Jack Botts; stepdaughter, Dorothy Helms; 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Gresham. Remembrances to Kaiser Hospice.

Hazel V. Packwood

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in Young's Funeral Home in Tigard for Hazel V. Packwood, who died April 10 at age 87. Mrs. Packwood was born Hazel V. Stockwell on July 24, 1913, in Dallas, Wis. She lived in Entiat, Wash., before moving to Portland in 1966. She made amplifier cables for Sunn, retiring in 1984. In 1931, she married Dale Packwood; they divorced in 1966.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Dissmore, Marjory, Sheryl Long and Sheila Askov; brother, Harold Stockwell; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Interment in Crescent Grove cemetery.

Harold George Peters

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Portland for Harold George Peters, who died April 17 at age 77. Mr. Peters was born May 9, 1923, in Crystal Lake, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. He was a sales manager for General Electric for many years until retiring in 1982. He moved to Portland in 1976. In 1947, he married Arlene Ziegelbein.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Gail Truax and Lori Malmassari; and four grandchildren.

Caroline L. Roskoski

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Peake Memorial Chapel for Caroline L. Roskoski, who died April 14 at age 88. Mrs. Roskoski was born Caroline L. Meyer on April 18, 1912, in Rhein, Saskatchewan. She immigrated to Powers as a teenager and then moved to Portland. She graduated from Commerce High School and owned motels with her husband in Newport and Redding, Calif., and then managed several motels throughout Oregon before retiring and returning to Portland. In 1931, she married Clemens Roskoski; he died in 2000.

Survivors include her sons, C. Edward and Robert R.; daughter, Darla C. Du Bois; sister, Senethea Meyer; 10 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Interment in Lincoln Memorial Park. Remembrances to the missionary fund of Clackamas Christian Center.

Stefa Severson

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in St. Johns Catholic Church in Reedsport for Stefa "Steffie" Severson, who died April 14 at age 81. Mrs. Severson was born Stefa Tercek on Dec. 22, 1919, in Vancouver, Wash. She lived in Portland and moved to Reedsport in the 1940s. She operated a Dairy Queen with her husband for 15 years until her retirement in the late 1960s. In 1940, she married Orrin Severson; he died in 1983.

Survivors include her sons, Terry J. and Dennis A.; brothers, Frank Tercek and Carl Tercek; sisters, Dorothy Tercek and Anna Braun; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Interment in Reedsport Masonic cemetery. Arrangements by Dunes Memorial Chapel.

Elbridge L. Woodard

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Caldwell's Colonial Chapel for Elbridge L. "Woody" Woodard, who died April 16 at age 77. Mr. Woodard was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Portland, where he lived all his life. He graduated from Washington High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. He was director of the business enterprises program of the Oregon Commission for the Blind for 17 years, retiring in 1983. He was past master of Sunnyside Masonic Lodge, current worthy patron of the Rose Croix Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and current treasurer of Pod Krepa, a Bulgaria-Macedonia association. In 1944, he married Laurie Garow.

Survivors include his wife; son, Samuel; daughter, Julie Meyer; sister, Vera Mandel; and six grandchildren.

Interment in Rose City cemetery. Remembrances to the cancer research program of the Order of Eastern Star.
