Agnes B. Kolibaba

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Portland for Agnes B. Kolibaba, who died April 20 at age 84. A recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, in Portland Memorial Funeral Home. Miss Kolibaba was born July 28, 1916, in Portland. She attended Commerce High School. She was a secretary for Miller Products Co. and W.R. Grace & Co. until retiring in 1980. She was a lifelong member of the church.

Survivors include her brothers, Robert and Donald; and nieces and nephews.

Interment in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.

Else Kullmann

Else Kullmann died April 14, 2001, at age 96. Mrs. Kullmann was born Else Seitzburg on March 3, 1905, in Copenhagen, Denmark. She came to the United States in 1925. She received a master's degree in education from Northwestern University in about 1940 and taught elementary school in San Mateo, Calif. She moved to Portland in 1996. She married Leonard Kullmann in 1944; he died later that year.

Survivors include her daughter, Ellen Houx; and two grandchildren.

No service. Remembrances to The Courage to Teach at Lewis & Clark College. Arrangements by Autumn.

Ardena Larson

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, in the home of Norm Kujala in Warrenton for Ardena Larson, who died March 14 at age 89. Mrs. Larson was born Ardena Kemmerer on Oct. 23, 1911, in Seaside. She graduated from Seaside High School. A homemaker, she lived in Astoria and later in Lake Oswego, moving in 1996 to La Quinta, Calif. She was a consultant in interior decorating for the Brookfield Co. in Astoria in the 1950s and 1960s. She was head of the Rotary Ann's. In 1933, she married Robert Larson; he died in 1991.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Bulgrin and Janet Conatore; brother, John Kemmerer; and four grandchildren.

Remembrances to La Quinta Arts Foundation in La Quinta. Arrangements by Palm Springs Mortuary in Palm Springs, Calif.

Nancy Jane Parks

A service will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Nancy Jane Parks, who died April 19 at age 74. Mrs. Parks was born Nancy Jane St. Clair on May 16, 1926, in Portland. She was a homemaker. Due to her husband's military service, she lived in many locations before returning to Portland in 1962. In 1953, she married David B. Parks; he died in 1990.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky Gill; son, Hugh; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements by Peake Memorial Chapel.

Harry Edward Parsons

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Harry Edward Parsons, who died April 18 at age 53. Mr. Parsons was born Aug. 30, 1947, in Portland. He graduated from Parkrose High School and served in the U.S. Navy, including service in Vietnam. He was a chauffeur for Pioneer Executive Towncar Shuttle & Limousine Service for several years. He also volunteered cleaning up Oregon beaches.

Survivors include his daughters, Randi K. Parsons and Erin C. Dyer; mother, Alice K.; brother, Donald E.; sisters, Helen M. Gorham and Patricia A. Wilson; and three grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to a favorite charity.

Jeanne Ellen Ricketts

Jeanne Ellen Ricketts died April 13, 2001, at age 80. Mrs. Ricketts was born Jeanne Ellen Curran on April 8, 1921, in Huntington, Ind. She worked in Des Moines, Iowa, as an executive secretary and administrative assistant in the motion picture and publishing industry until retiring in 1984. She moved to Oregon in 1993 and to Gresham last year. She married J.R. Ricketts in 1946.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Dr. Jeffery M. and James K.; daughters, Joyce L. Taylor, Jacqueline K. Stroud and Jeanette M. Bryant; and sister, Patricia M. Curran Spohn.

No service. Arrangements by Affordable Funeral Alternatives.

Mildred Leone Shattuck

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Park for Mildred Leone Shattuck, who died April 14 at age 82. Mrs. Shattuck was born Mildred Mesler on April 25, 1918, in Stanton, Mich. She moved to Portland in 1940 and was a homemaker. She was a housekeeper at Emanuel Hospital for 16 years until her retirement. In 1954, she married Norman Shattuck.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Dean McSweeney, Wayne McSweeney, William McSweeney and Terry Shattuck; stepsons, Michael Shattuck and Bud Shattuck; daughters, Patricia Atkins, Barbara Desparois and Leone Harrison; stepdaughter, Bettie Reba; 22 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Her son James McSweeney died in 1978.

Joseph Short

Joseph Short died April 17, 2001, at age 90. Mr. Short was born June 20, 1910, in County Monahan, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States in 1922. He settled in the Canby area in 1984. He was the assistant sheriff in Trinity County, Calif. He retired in 1978.

Survivors include his son, Frank; his stepdaughter, Georgeann Mellin; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.

No service. Arrangements by Hillside Chapel.

Charles Herbert Stones Jr.

Charles Herbert Stones Jr. died March 16, 2001, at age 79. Mr. Stones was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Salt Lake City. He moved to Portland in 1926 and graduated from Grant High School in 1939. He served in World War II. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Reed College and taught English at Grant High School from 1956 to 1966. He then lectured at Reed until retiring in 1974. In the mid 1940s, he married Loraine O. Hansen; she died in 1999.

Private service. Remembrances to the Salvation Army of Oregon. Arrangements by Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes.

LeRoy 'Larry' Thompson

LeRoy "Larry" Thompson died April 15, 2001, at age 82. Mr. Thompson was born April 19, 1918, in Spooner, Wis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a railway section worker for 40 years. He married Margaret "Peggy" Hagen in 1948; she died in 1981.

Survivors include his close friend, Ellen Woodard.

No service. Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to an association that raises money for diabetes or Alzheimer's. Arrangements by Holman's.

John V. Tragis

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Good Shepherd Community Church in Boring for John V. Tragis, who died April 15 at age 82. Mr. Tragis was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Eynon, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he moved to Portland, where he owned Northwest Bookbinding until retiring in 1984. He was a charter member of the church. In 1944, he married Betty Marie Shaub.

Survivors include his wife; sons, John C. and Paul; and five grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements by Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes.

Lorraine Josephine Voss

Lorraine Josephine Voss died April 15, 2001, at age 77. Mrs. Voss was born Lorraine Josephine Cais on April 9, 1924, in Chicago, where she was raised. She lived in Milwaukee, Wis., for many years before moving to Beaverton in 1962. She was a manager at Tektronix, retiring in 1986. In 1943, she married Earl Voss; he died in 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Aten; sister, Mildred Cais; and two grandchildren.

Private service. Remembrances to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements by Attrell's.

Marshall Wilson

A funeral will be at noon Monday, April 23, 2001, in Solid Rock Church of God in Christ in Portland for Marshall Wilson, who died April 16 at age 54. Mr. Wilson was born Aug. 10, 1946, in Brownsville, Tenn., and was raised in Seattle. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Portland in 1986. He was a forklift operator for Stanfield Pickles and then Container Recovery for about three years.

Survivors include his son, Tony; brothers, Charles, Ashley, Otis and Earnest; sisters, Barbara Wade, Shirley Wilson, Louella Stewart and Annie Jones; and four grandchildren.

Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements by Personal Alternative.
