James A. Vandehey
A funeral Mass will be at noon Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Lincoln City for James A. Vandehey, who died Sept. 30 at age 62. Recitation of the rosary will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the church. Mr. Vandehey was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Forest Grove. He graduated from Banks High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a production manager for Stewart Sandwich in Portland for more than 20 years until 1992, and then was a delicatessen manager for Fred Meyer, retiring in 1995. In Milwaukie, he was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He moved in 1995 to Gleneden Beach. In 1972, he married
Margaret Poupore.
Survivors include his wife; son, Ron; foster son, Steve Riffe; stepson, Mike Scott; stepdaughters, Linda Tyler, Michele Gray and Kathy Reed; brothers, Earl, Larry and Omer; sister, Mary Bral; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Carla Ann White
A gathering will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in the Hillsboro home of Don White for Carla Ann White, who died Oct. 1 at age 54. Mrs. White was born Carla Ann Pierce on March 14, 1947, in Baker and moved to Portland in the mid-1960s. She graduated from Legacy Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center before moving in 1970 to Hillsboro. She worked at a practice in Forest Grove until retiring for health reasons in the early 1980s. She was a volunteer nurse for the American Red Cross and the Washington County Health Department.
Survivors include her son, Casey; daughter, Kara Woodward; brother, Tracy Pierce; sister, Paula Lynn; and two grandchildren.

Bonnie Bess Andell
A gathering will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in Pheasant Pointe in Molalla for Bonnie Bess Andell, who died Sept. 29 at age 49. Ms. Andell was born May 17, 1952, in Eugene. She lived in New York before moving in 1977 to Portland. She was a caregiver for several care centers until retiring for health reasons in 1994.
Survivors include her brothers, Warren Dawson, Bill Dawson and Robert Andell Jr.; and sisters, Marie Bush and Ruth Reazin.

Pauline B. Barton~ A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Portland for Pauline B. Barton, who died Oct. 2 at age 85. Mrs. Barton was born Pauline B. Carroll on Jan. 29, 1916, near Dallas, Ore. She moved to Portland at age 2 and graduated from Jefferson High School. She was a secretary for Portland Public Schools, including at Girls Polytechnic High School and Lincoln High School, until retiring in 1980. She was member of the church for about 50 years. In 1937, she married
Elvin L. Barton; he died in the 1980s.
Survivors include her sons, Richard L. Sr. and Thomas R.; sister, Beverly Carroll Helmer; and two grandchildren.

Lena Mary Cox
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes for Lena Mary Cox, who died Oct. 2 at age 93. Mrs. Cox was born Lena Mary Cristiani on June 27, 1908, in San Francisco. She was a homemaker and moved in 1997 to Portland. In 1926, she married
Eugene Banducci; they divorced. She married
Ray Cox in 1941; he died in 1978.
Survivors include her sons, Joe Banducci and Dennis Cox; daughter, Julie Gunnison; brother, Larry Cristiani; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Charles Russell Ewoldt
A service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Charles Russell Ewoldt who died Oct. 1 at age 82. Mr. Ewoldt was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Paulina, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy. Before moving to Gresham in 1976, he lived in Anaheim, Calif., for about 20 years, where he was an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in the early 1970s. In 1945, he married
Ruth Zimmerman.
Survivors include his wife; son, Craig; daughter, Tamera Lewis; brother, Leonard; and four grandchildren.

Rose Katherine Fortune
A memorial Mass will be at noon Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in St. Peter Catholic Church in Newberg for Rose Katherine Fortune, who died Oct. 2 at age 90. Recitation of the rosary will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 in the church. Mrs. Fortune was born Rose Katherine Auman on June 8, 1911, in Pekin, Ill. She moved in 1947 to Newberg, where she and her husband ran a drive-in restaurant and then a beer and wine distributorship. She was a member of the church since 1947. In 1935, she married
John J. Fortune; he died in 1996.
Survivors include her sons, John Jr. and Robert; sisters, Vicki Rounds and Ethel McDermott; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Alvin Vannoy Hylton
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel for Alvin Vannoy Hylton, who died Oct. 2 at age 93. Mr. Hylton was born June 18, 1908, in Douglas County, Mo. He owned a service station in Long Beach, Calif., for about 20 years before retiring in 1973 to Myrtle Creek. He moved to Portland in 1984. In 1932, he married
Evelyn Proffer; she died in 1996.
Survivors include his son, Vannoy P.; daughter, Judith F. Ray; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Sharon Jackson
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel Happy Valley Building Sunnyside Ward in Portland for Sharon Jackson, who died Oct. 1 at age 49. Mrs. Jackson was born Sharon Clark on Feb. 29, 1952, in New London, Conn. She graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1978, moved to Portland in 1980 and to Milwaukie in 1988. She worked at the Rockwood and Milwaukie Adventist Health medical clinics until retiring for health reasons in 1999. In 1980, she married
Keith Jackson.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Jeron and Steven; daughters, Jennifer Byington and Catherine Jackson; mother, Dorothy L.; and sisters, Bonnie Lee Kalter and Gail Clark.

Roberta Ann 'Bobby' Kemper
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Portland for Roberta Ann "Bobby" Kemper, who died Oct. 2 at age 48.
Mrs. Kemper was born Roberta Ann White on May 31, 1953, in Newport, and grew up in Portland. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. She was a dental assistant for Kaiser Permanente for the past 25 years, most recently at North Interstate. In 1980, she married
Steve Kemper.
Survivors include her husband; son, Kelly; parents, Robert and Del White; and brother, Doug White.

Thelma E. Lankow
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cornelius for Thelma E. Lankow, who died Oct. 2 at age 93. Mrs. Lankow was born Thelma E. Johnson on Dec. 16, 1907, in Broad Ripple, Ind. She lived throughout the Northwest and California before moving to Cornelius in 1956, and was a homemaker and pastor's wife. A member of the church, she was its organist, taught in its Sunday school and cared for its altar. In 1931, she married
the Rev. Martin Lankow; he died in 1983.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna Calkins and Martha Sahnow; sister, Elberta Schneek; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Gene Alvin Miller
A memorial gathering and musical tribute will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, in Trianon Restaurant for Gene Alvin Miller, who died Sept. 24 at age 51. Mr. Miller was born Oct. 7, 1949, in Portland. He graduated from Grant High School and received a degree in restaurant management from Portland Community College. He was a salesman for a life insurance company and owned and operated Clinton Street Antiques for more than five years. He was a mortgage broker for Centurion Mortgage at the time of his death. He also coached Tualatin Hills Little League baseball for 14 years. In 2001, he married
Eve Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Adria Miller and Sarah Koski; son, Cameron Larson; brother, Harold; and sisters, Char Woodworth, Joyce Miller, Bev Grant and Gerry Misrach.

Dorothy M. Molitor
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in San Diego for Dorothy M. Molitor, who died Sept. 30 at age 86. Mrs. Molitor was born Dorothy M. Simon on Aug. 13, 1915, in Chicago. She was a distributor for an herbal vitamin company El Cajon, Calif., before retiring in 1993, when she moved to Portland. In 1935, she married
Charles Molitor; he died in 1976.
Survivors include her son, C.F.; daughter, Mary Ann Cuddihy; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
