Roger Louis Moyer Sr.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church for Roger Louis Moyer Sr., who died Aug. 22 at age 79. Mr. Moyer was born June 10, 1922, in Groton, Conn. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in Europe and North Africa and earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a printer in Massachusetts from 1949 until 1978, when he moved to Vancouver, Wash. He handled biohazardous waste for Portland Adventist Hospital and in 1997 moved to Clackamas. In 1942, he married
Lyla Grimes; she died in 1994.
Survivors include his sons, Roger Jr., Stephen and David; mother, Ada Crane; brother, Robert; and six grandchildren.

Wilbert Adam 'Bill' Bender
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for Wilbert Adam "Bill" Bender, who died Aug. 25 at age 72. Mr. Bender was born June 9, 1929, in Hebron, N.D., and moved to the Gladstone area in 1955. He worked in produce for several grocery stores; he also owned Riverside Market in Gladstone and a lawnmower- and saw-repair shop. He retired in 1999. He coached Little League baseball for several years. In 1949, he married

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Deborah Weiler; sons, Curt, Keith and Greg; brothers, Ron and the Rev. Tim; sisters, Josephine Skidmore, Carol Moers and Marillyn Whitman; and nine grandchildren.

Phillip Clayton Bowes
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in River View cemetery for Phillip Clayton Bowes, who died May 29 at age 45. Mr. Bowes was born June 21, 1955, in Sioux Falls, S.D., and was raised in Carson, Calif. He lived in Roseburg and Grants Pass before moving to Beaverton in about 1990. He was a director for Albertson's stores for 23 years and a supervisor for Home Depot the past two years. In 1977, he married
Judith Bodenlos.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Joshua and Nicholas; father, Billy; and brothers, Steve and Glenn.

David Dorman Brooks
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Zion Lutheran Church in Camas, Wash., for David Dorman Brooks, who died May 25 at age 72. Mr. Brooks was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Buhl, Idaho. He moved to Portland at age 12 and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He was an accountant for Crown Zellerbach for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He spent the past 15 years in Washougal, Wash. In 1948, he married

Survivors include his wife; sons, David and Raymond; daughters, Becky Thorpe and Debbie Englund; brothers, Carl and Jim; sisters, Helen Morris and Kay Cuda; and seven grandchildren.

Edward J. Byrne
Edward J. Byrne died May 11, 2001, at age 85. Mr. Byrne was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Greeley, Neb., and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Portland in the late 1940s and worked for General Motors for 32 years. He was in charge of inventory and quality control in the parts department when he retired in 1979. He also was a union negotiator and a shop steward. He moved last year to Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1951, he married
Helen Imfeld.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Suzy Shaw-Berardo and Joanne Wetherell; sister, Millie Pritchard; and two grandchildren.

Raymond Ferris Chase
Raymond Ferris Chase died May 23, 2001, at age 86. Mr. Chase was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Peekskill, N.Y. He was a maintenance supervisor for Ednalite Optical. His private brick collection is on display at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. He moved to Portland in 1994. In 1937, he married
Evelyn E. Henning.
Survivors include his wife; son, Wayne R.; daughter, Sharon L. Cram; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in the University of Portland chapel for Kathy Sundquist Christopherson, who died May 25 at age 44.
Mrs. Christopherson was born Kathy Sundquist on April 13, 1957, in Portland. She graduated from Marshall High School. She was a custodian for the Portland Public Schools for more than 10 years and later worked for Goodwill Industries. She was a volunteer for the Catholic Archdiocese of Portland. In 1989, she married
Curtis Christopherson; he died in 1992.
Survivors include her brother, David Sundquist; and sisters, Carole Luyten, Jean Kemp and Merri-Lynn Guitteau.

Ralph Oden Coiteux
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel for Ralph Oden Coiteux, who died May 28 at age 70. Mr. Coiteux was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Portland, where he lived all his life. He graduated from Gresham High School. He owned construction companies and had worked as a highway engineer for about the past 50 years, and had been a senior estimator for Coral Sales for the last year and a half. In 1950, he married
Elise "Lee" Luscher.
Survivors include his wife; son, Don; daughter, Elizabeth Gomez; mother, Lucylle; brother, Steve; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Roger S. Croeni
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Chapel-by-the-Sea in Lincoln City for Roger S. Croeni, who died May 29 at age 88. Mr. Croeni was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Bethany. He was a grain and hay farmer in the West Union area for about 50 years, retiring in 1980. In 1943, he married
Elsie Nordlund.

Christopher Joseph Dial
A graveside service will be at noon Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Redland Pioneer cemetery for Christopher Joseph Dial, who died May 28 at age 35. Mr. Dial was born Sept. 2, 1965, in Kansas City, Mo., and grew up in Cincinnati. He moved to Oregon in about 1990 and to Gladstone in about 1999. He owned Sunrise Tree Care Service for the past five years. In 1997, he married
Michele Herzog.

Irene Cecelia Doherty
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary in Hillsboro for Irene Cecelia Doherty, who died May 30 at age 90. Mrs. Doherty was born March 3, 1911, in Nashua, N.H. Her maiden name was also Doherty. She was a welder for a Navy yard in Portsmouth, N.H., during World War II. She then was a paste-up worker for a greeting card company in New Hampshire until retiring in 1962. She moved to Hillsboro from California in 1978. In 1928, she married
Clinton A. Doherty Sr.; he died in 1981.
Survivors include her son, Clinton A. Jr.; daughters, Betty Brockus and Barbara Harmon; sister, Annamay Whittemore; 13 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Belle Virginia Evans
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Corbett Community Church for Belle Virginia Evans, who died May 25 at age 82. Mrs. Evans was born Belle Virginia Campbell on Sept. 4, 1918, in Springdale. She lived her entire life in the Corbett-Springdale area and graduated from Corbett High School. She was a homemaker and waitress and also worked on the family farm growing daffodils. In 1942, she married
Mahlon Evans Sr.; he died in 1979.
Survivors include her son, M. Keith Jr.; daughter, Sandra Shardlow; sisters, Doris Gibbons and Louise Bennett; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her son J. Ward died in 1998, and her son Nielson died in 1987.

Anna Elizabeth Williams Ewbank died May 28, 2001, at age 98.
Ms. Ewbank was born Anna Elizabeth Williams on Aug. 2, 1902, in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a homemaker. She moved to Portland from Dallas, Texas, in 1999. In 1926 she married
Eric Ewbank; he died in 1961.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Folliard; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
