Delbert N. Tobiasson
Born in Orton, Alberta, Canada, on December 23, 1912, to Neils and Eva McMurray Tobiasson, Delbert Neils Tobiasson passed away at his home in Ashland, Oregon on September 15, 2004. He was 91.

His mother died in 1920, and the family moved after to Enterprise, Utah, and then to Logandale, Nevada. On February 14, 1934, he married Dorothy Lamoine Seckinger, "gentle, loving, and of a good courage." He became a US citizen on September 23, 1941.

Delbert and Dorothy owned a dairy farm in Logandale. In 1951, "Tib" moved to Ashland, Oregon, where he became known as "Del," continued farming, was a sawyer in a sawmill, became a greenskeeper at Oak Knoll Golf Course, and worked 18 years for United Grocers before retiring. Over the years, neighbors along the Wells-Walker True Ditch watched him look after his farm, yard, and garden.

Del is known for his sense of humor, music, and love of fishing. One of his goals was to share a joke, one-liner, or anecdote to lighten people's burdens. He continued to pick the mandolin, sing, and yodel through this 92nd year. He treasured fishing trips to Lake Mead, Hyatt Lake, Howard Prairie, and Emmigrant Lake.

Del's wife, Dorothy, daughter Rowena Verlee, and son Robert Dwayne passed away earlier, as did three brothers and four sisters: Cecil (Hester "Dixie") of Las Vegas, NV; Gladys (Karl) Marshall of Logandale, NV; Dorithy (Woodruff) Holt of St. George, UT; Illeen (Hugh) Tenney, Donald, Richard, and Ruth of Redding, CA.

Surviving children: Delbert Corwin (Ella) Tobiasson of Turner, OR; Loya June (Ramon) Elbert of White City, OR; Loran Jack (Karolyn) Tobiasson of Payson, UT; Lorna Kay (David) Carter of Yreka, CA; Evan Stanley (Linda) Tobiasson of Phoenix, OR; Joseph Neils (Marilyn) Tobiasson of Ashland, OR, 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Surviving brothers: Heber of Las Vegas, NV; Eldon (Marilynn) of Terrebonne, OR; Wendell (Kathy) of Lehi, UT; Bert (Barbara) of Orevada, Nevada; Reynold (Donna) and Bill of Redding, CA. Surviving sisters: Norma (Earl) Allen of Alpine, UT and Mary Lou (Clyde) Forrest of Albany, OR.

The family especially thanks the Providence Hospice staff for their love, care, and kindness, Dr. Hites for attentive and sustained medical watchfulness, marvelous LDS ward members for their loving friendship and acts of service, and friends and neighbors, who also served in love.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (111 Clay Street) in Ashland. Friends and family are invited to visit there from 10 until 10:50 a.m. that morning.
