Claudia S. Arrington

The memorial service for Claudia Sue Arrington is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home. Pastor John Miner will officiate. Private family burial will follow the service.

Mrs. Arrington, 74, of Ashland, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford. She was born Dec. 17, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Milo Ward and Edythe (Courtney) Parkinson. As an infant, she moved to Ashland with her family, where she lived her entire life.

Her husband, Johnny Arrington, preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. Arrington was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, and listening to music. She was a member of the Ashland Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her sons, Timothy W. Lytle of Ashland, Patrick D. Lytle (residence unknown), and Andrew T. Arrington of Ashland; daughters Cynthia A. Stranberg of Ashland, and Nanette S. Grimes of Wasilla, Ark.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2300 Oakmont, Suite 208 B, Eugene, Ore., 97219. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

W. Henry Peck

W. Henry Peck, 96, of Ashland, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000 at home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Alma L. Mitchell

The memorial service for Alma L. Mitchell is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000 at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mrs. Mitchell, 85, of Ashland, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 at Providence Medford Medical Center. She was born Dec. 11, 1914 in Noble, Ark., the daughter of Tommy Myers and the former Josephine Verbel. On Dec. 2, 1930 at Noble, she married Charles Leonard Mitchell, who preceded her in death in 1974.

The couple moved to Ashland in 1943, where Mrs. Mitchell worked in food service for the Ashland School District until her 1975 retirement.

Survivors include her son, Cleatis Mitchell of Clackamas; daughter Ramona G. Fletcher of Reno, Nev.; sisters Helen Childers of Arkansas, and Goldie Whitson of Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Jerry and Winston Mitchell.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Goldie Lee "Shirley" Livingston

A celebration of life will be held at Bethel Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., for Goldie Lee "Shirley" Livingston, who died on Nov. 23, 2003, at the age of 77 in Portland. The Rev. Tim Olsen will officiate.

Goldie "Shirley" was born on Feb. 6, 1926, to the late Cornelia Lunsford and James W. Miller in Jessamine County, Ky. She lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 40 years prior to moving to Portland due to illness.

Goldie enjoyed traveling, writing and scrapbook making, as well as many other hobbies. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Bethel Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include sons Larry Wade, Portland; Edward James (Ted), Ashland; daughter Lorna Kaleen, also of Portland. Brothers Truman and James, Illinois; sister Lois, Lexington, Ky. Six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Remembrances can be made to Bethel Assembly of God Missionaries, 1225 E. McAndrews Road, Medford, OR 97504. Arrangements are being made by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Ovid Mar Lisonbee

Ovid Mar Lisonbee, 87, of Ashland, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at home. He was born Feb. 11, 1916, in Mesa, Ariz., to James L. and Eda Lisonbee. He graduated from Mesa High School in 1934 and served a mission for the LDS Church from 1935 to 1937. Mr. Lisonbee married Alta L. Brooks Oct. 9, 1939, who preceded him in death in 1995.

Mr. Lisonbee and his family moved to Ashland in 1949, where he worked in construction until his retirement in 1980. After retiring, Mr. Lisonbee and his wife enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the United States.

He is survived by his four children: Lamar Lisonbee of Keiser; Fred Lisonbee of Ashland; Rhea Lisonbee of Salt Lake City; and Christine Holley of Las Vegas; grandchildren Melissa and Melina Lisonbee, Brandon and Jason Holley; and three brothers and one sister.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Edward B. Versluis

Edward B. Versluis, 61, of Ashland, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Hazel I. Schneider

Hazel I. Schneider, 90, passed away Nov. 7, 2003, at Madrone Hospice. Hazel was born in North Dakota, Feb. 21, 1913, and was one of two sets of twins in a family of eight daughters. She moved to California in the early 30s and married Emil "Doc" Schneider.

In the 50s Hazel and Doc moved to Yreka, Calif., and owned and operated Doc's Lock, Clock and Key Shop for several years. Hazel later moved to Medford, where she continued her work as a locksmith and assisted her son in his business until June of this year.

Survivors include her immediate family, daughter Suzanne Liddick and spouse David; son Steven "Doc" Schneider; her grandson and special friend Matthew "Matt" Liddick, and his family; her twin sister Harriet; her youngest sister, Adeline "Billie;" and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel was known by many, both professionally and personally, and loved by all who knew her. She asked that she be remembered as someone who loved the Lord and tried to walk in his path.

At her request she will be interred at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford alongside other members of her family and services will be private. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097, or a charity of your choice.

Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

Ovid Mar Lisonbee

Ovid Mar Lisonbee, 87, of Ashland, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 at home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Sally Sue Gillespie

A memorial gathering for Sally Sue Gillespie was held Nov. 13 at her home in Ashland. Family and friends were in attendance. She died peacefully at home on Oct. 16, 2003. Mrs. Gillespie was born on Oct. 15, 1933 in Houston. She attended Lamar High School in Houston. In September 1993 she and her husband, Frank, moved to Ashland from Denver. Frank Gillespie passed away in 1995. Survivors include seven children: Virginia Lee Gillespie of Vancouver, B.C., Lisa Q. Rand of Ashland, Frank E. Gillespie of Casper, Wyo., Greg Quaidy of Germantown, Tenn., Julia K. Blair of Denver, Molly Slofkiss of Phoenix (Ariz.) Matthew Gillespie of Phoenix (Ariz.) and 11 grandchildren.

After retiring as a interior decorator Mrs. Gillespie's volunteer activities in Ashland included service at Tudor Guild, Pacific Northwest Museum of Natural History, Schneider Museum, Ashland Community Hospital's Auxiliary, and as a red coat usher at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Donations may be made in Sally Gillespie's memory to the American Cancer Society.

Dottie Barbour

Dottie Doreen Barbour, 76, died Nov. 11, 2003 in Yuba City, Calif.,

Barbour was born in Saint Francis, Kan., Jan. 10, 1927. She lived in Yuba City for the past three years, and before that was secretary and bookkeeper for Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Ashland.

Barbour was raised in McCook, N.D., where she graduated from high school.

She is survived by sons Robert Campbell of Redding, Calif. and William Campbell of Roseville, Calif.; daughters Jeanne Bravos of Yuba City and Suzanne Viall of Camas, Wash.; stepsons William Barbour of Boulder City, Nev. and Robert Barbour of San Jose, Calif.; brother Robert Burnham of Lake San Marcos, Calif.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to The Fountains, 1260 Yuba City, CA 95991.
