Jacob Rabkin, 98, of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at his home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Earl Sommer

Earl Sommer, 80, of Talent, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at his home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Robert Moore

Robert Moore, 86, of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at his home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory, Medford.

Meg E. Gammons

Meg E. Gammons, 56, of Eagle Point, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at her home. A private service will be held.

She was born Nov. 9, 1946, in Portsmouth, N.H., to Richard and Priscilla Gammons. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1985 from Tillamook. Ms. Gammons was a librarian for the Shady Cove School District.

She was a member of the Wild Women's Book Club and was an avid reader. Ms. Gammons enjoyed crafts, camping, the coast and her sons.

Survivors include two sons, Troy and Scott, both Eagle Point; her father, Richard C. Gammons, in Florida; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Abbey Funeal, Medford.

Marley Jacob Pratt

A memorial service will be held for Marley Jacob Pratt on Saturday, July 19, 2003. The time will be announced by the family.

Mr. Pratt, 18, of Ashland, died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at his home.

He was born Feb. 6, 2003 in Lagunitas, Calif. to Jennifer Massey and Andrew Pratt. He lived in Ashland from infancy until his death.

Mr. Pratt attended the Ashland Family YMCA preschool and Ashland public schools.

He enjoyed bikes, horses, four-wheeling, and socializing.

Mr. Pratt was a volunteer fireman for the Colestin Rural Fire Department. As a First Responder he was named Firefighter of the Year, 2003.

Mr. Pratt is survived by his mother, Jennifer Massey; his father, Andrew Pratt; his stepmother Cindy Warzyn; and his sisters Catie Pratt, Vanessa Blount, and Laura Blount. All are from Ashland.

Arrangements are under the direction of Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Robert Burkland Moore

Robert Burkland Moore, 86, of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at his home. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Moore was born Nov. 24, 1916 to Robert and Minnie (Burkland) Moore.

On January 26, 1943 in Luray, Va. he married Patricia Mims, who survives.

Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Naval Air Corp from 1941 to 1945 achieving the rank of LT. Sr. Grade. As a pilot he flew the Martin Mariner patrol planes. He received his bachelor's of arts degree from University of Redlands, his master's degree from North Arizona University at Flagstaff and his doctorate of education at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

He taught high school in Flagstaff and then served for 22 years as president of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif. Upon his retirement in 1982, Mr. and Mrs. Moore moved to Medford. In 2002 the couple moved to Ashland. He was a member of the Federated Church in Flagstaff, Ariz. and attended Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford.

Mr. Moore enjoyed reading, travel, music, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Moore or Ashland; one daughter, Pam Moore of Gold Hill; two sons, Robert L. Moore of Costa Mesa, and R. Thomas Moore of Mission Viejo, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie (Burkland) Moore.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Orange Coast College Foundation: Robert B. Moore Scholarship Fund, 2701 Fairview Rd., Costa Mesa, Calif., 92626; or Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Rd., Medford, Ore. 97504.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory, Medford.

Earl A. Sommer

Earl A. Sommer, 80, of Talent, died Tuesday, July 2, 2003 at his home after a 19 year battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 6, 1922 in Talent to Herman and Leora (Kerby) Sommer and lived in the Wagner Creek area his entire life.

He attended Wagner Creek Grade School and graduated from Wagner Creek High School in 1941.

On May 15, 1947 he married Claire Withrow, who survives.

He retired in 1982 from American Steel in Medford.

Mr. Sommer enjoyed deep sea fishing, cross country skiing, camping and gardening.

He was a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Claire Sommer of Talent; one daughter, Debra Hyde of Seven Lakes, N.C.; one son, Ron Sommer of Talent; two sisters, Marie Ropp of Phoenix, Ore., and Marjorie Lockwood of Phoenix, Ore; and one brother, William Sommer of Talent.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Providence, 940 Royal Ave., Suite 410, Medford, Ore. 97504; or United Ostomy Association, Medford Chapter, P.O. Box 4027, Medford, Ore. 97501.

Arrangements are under the direction of Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
