Teresa Ann Gerrard

Teresa Ann Gerrard, 41, of Ashland, died Friday, March 7, 2003, in Ashland. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, Ore. 97501.

Teresa was born Jan. 29, 1962 in Medford, the daughter of Robert and Joanne Wickman. She lived in the Rogue Valley for most of her life. Teresa trained and showed horses competitively. She was devoted to her children and pets.

Survivors include two daughters, Christina K. Carter of Medford and Jolene L. Carter of Ashland; parents, Robert and Joanne Wickman of Medford; brothers, Mark Wickman of Medford and Maury Wickman of Portland.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Sarada Ann Jones

The funeral for Sarada Ann Jones will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at the Unitarian Universalist Center, Ashland. Mrs. Jones, 49, of Ashland, died Wednesday, March 12, at home.

She was born Sabra Ann Kochevar, Feb. 25, 1954 in Rock Springs, Wyo., the daughter of Deloise and William Kochevar. In 1959, she moved with her family to Fremont, Calif. where she graduated from Washington High School in 1972. She attended California State University, Fresno and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.

Mrs. Jones lived in Santa Barbara, Calif. and later Livermore, Calif. where she worked as a therapist at the Alta Bates Hospital. She moved to Ashland in 1983. In 1993, she married Gregory Rees Jones who survives. She worked with Dr. James Dunn in Ashland, Providence Hospital Home Health, Asante Home Health and in private practice. She enjoyed bicycling and kayaking.

Surviving, in addition to her husband are: one son, Sean Covell Roberts of Ashland; one daughter Risa Michelle Roberts of Olympia, Wash.; her twin sister Deloise Elizabeth (Kochevar) Tritt of Fresno, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Ruth Catherine Johnson

Ruth Catherine Johnson, 84, of Ashland, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at her residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Robert Carl Fremd

Robert Carl Fremd, 85, of Ashland, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Ashland Community Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Liam Joseph Williamson Shannon

The funeral service for Liam Joseph Williamson Shannon will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Pastor P.K. Hallinan of Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate. Interment will be in Hargadine Cemetery, Ashland.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 3101 S. W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, Ore. 97201

Liam Shannon , 4, son of Joseph and Kiley Shannon, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at his Ashland home.

Liam was born February 6, 1999 in Santa Rosa, Calif. His family moved to Ashland in July of 2001 from Santa Rosa, Calif.

Survivors in addition to his parents include sister, Hope Elizabeth Shannon of Ashland; grandparents, Mary Conn of Ashland, Richard Williamson of Forestville, Calif., Pat Shannon of Mexico and Sally Shannon of Lemoore, Calif.; great-grandparents, Mary Christiansen of Santa Rosa, Calif., Muriel Sample of Fresno, Calif. and C. R. Shannon of Visalia, Calif.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Robert Carl Fremd

Robert Carl Fremd, 85, of Ashland, died Friday, March 14, 2003 at the Ashland Community Hospital. A family graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Scenic Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Lassen High Alumni Association, P.O. Box 471, Susanville, Calif. 96130.

Robert Carl Fremd was born July 6, 1917 in Red Bluff, son of Albert Carl Fremd and Winnie Fay Woodward Fremd. He lived in the Rogue Valley since 1958. On Dec. 8, 1945 in Albion, N.Y., Robert married Norma E. Bibby Fremd who died in 2001.

Robert was a lumber salesman in Susanville, Calif. and Hilt, Calif. He retired in 1979. Robert was a nature lover, he enjoyed gardening and taking walks. He had a wonderful sense of humor - joked with his nurses until the very end. And he loved spending time with his family.

Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, South Pacific during W.W. II.

Survivors include daughters, Judy M. Brown and her husband Michael F. Brown of Stanwood, Wash. and Linda J. Namanny and husband Gene L. Namanny of Ashland; sisters Opal Fremd Yeager of Sacramento, Calif. and Dorothy Fremd Babour of Stockton, Calif.; brother, Albert LeRoy Fremd of Redding, Calif.; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Kathleen "Kay" Lorraine Clark

No services are planned for Kathleen "Kay" Lorraine Clark, 88, of Ashland, who died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at home with her family present. Mrs. Clark was born August 30, 1914 at Portland, Ore. to Harvey and Frances (Towle) Predmore. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, Ore. In Stevenson, Wash., she married Robert Middleton Clark, a union that would last for 66 years. Mr. and Mrs. Clark opened and operated the Palisades Bowling Alley in Lake Oswego, Ore. until the mid-1960's.

Mrs. Clark was a homemaker; she was a creator and teller of "Mr. Mouse" stories. She enjoyed arts & crafts, sewing and crossword puzzles. She volunteered at the Jacksonville Doll Museum. For 28 years she and her husband lived in Jacksonville, Ore., moving to Ashland in December of 2002. They owned and operated an ivy fronted gift shop called "The Hen House" in Jacksonville in the 1970's. For twenty of those years she belonged to a coffee klatch, which met on Thursday mornings at the Good Bean Company in Jacksonville. Every child who visited "Grammer" left with a surprise sack of goodies, which could only be opened after you were on the main road home.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Robert M. Clark, of Ashland; daughters, Judith Ann Gibbens (Judi) of Issaquah, Wash.; Toby Louise Coulter of Lake Oswego, Ore.; Lorraine Inez Olson (Rainy) of Ashland; Margaret Arlene Kindred (Peggy) of Portland, Ore.. There are nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren (and one on the way). She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Rayleigha Coulter.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Dorothy Lucille Dirks Woodell

Dorothy Lucille Dirks Woodell, 94, of Ashland, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. A private family memorial gathering will be held. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to a charity of donor's choice.

Mrs. Woodell was born Sept. 3, 1908 at Sunnyside, Wash. to Peter B. and Eliza C. (Gates) Dirks. She was a graduate of Lake Stevens High School, Lake Stevens, Wash.. On Dec. 23, 1933 at McMinnville, Ore., she married Marshall E. Woodell, who preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2003.

She received her Bachelors Degree from Linfield College, McMinnville, Ore. in 1932. In the mid-1930's, she worked in the office of the president of Southern Oregon College of Education (now SOU). In 1955, after raising her own children, she continued her teaching career at Crater High School. She taught English and Spanish until retiring in 1973.

Mrs. Woodell enjoyed reading and gardening. She also wrote for pleasure the story of her life. Her hobbies included making braided rugs, sewing, and knitting.

Survivors include son, C. Braehm "Woody" Woodell of Lakeview, Ore.; daughters, Marchial Sue Hamilton of Clackamas, Ore. and Doree Anne Hull of Lebanon, Ore.; two sisters, Myrtle Dirks Hartley and Jane Claire Dirks Edmunds, both of McMinnville, Ore.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Orville Dirks and John Armstrong Dirks; and sisters, Doris Bissell, Virgie Barncord, Katie Dell Lilloren, Emma Ewens and Lulu Alice Wilcox.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
