Monica Jo Hale

Nov. 22, 1976 - July 25, 2003

Vernal, Utah - Monica Jo Hale, 26, Vernal, Utah, died Friday, July 25, 2003 in Vernal, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the University 15th Ward Church of Latter-day Saints Chapel. Friends may call from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services Tuesday at the Chapel. Graveside services and Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at the Valley View Cemetery, Vale. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

She came into this world Nov. 22, 1976, to Daniel E. Hale and JoAnn (Belnap) Dazey, in Ontario.

Monica spent her childhood years in Kennewick, Wash. She graduated from Kamiakin High School in 1995 and Ricks College in 1998. Monica worked as a cosmetologist and was also working in the medical field.

Moni enjoyed rock climbing, snowboarding, working out, hiking, dancing, being with family and friends, doing temple work, but most of all she loved to uplift and inspire all those around her. Moni was optimistic through her trial of "Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma," a very rare childhood cancer that was diagnosed eight months ago. She truly loved life and had a testimony of Jesus Christ. The family would like to thank all those who supported and loved Moni through her journey in this lifetime.

Moni is survived by her parents, Daniel E. Hale, Gresham, JoAnn and Raymond Dazey, Kennewick, Wash.; brothers, Chad (Heidi) Hale, Mt. Vernon, Wash., Coby Hale, Gresham; sister, Nicole Hale, Kennewick, Wash.; nephews, Brenden Hale and Kade Finger; niece, Danyel Hale; grandparents, Raymond and Jean Belnap, Paul and Donna Hale all of Vale, Dorothy Hale, Ontario; uncles, and aunts, Bob and Janice Belnap, Jim and Debi Belnap, David and Mary Belnap, Ronald and Debbie Belnap all of Vale, Larry and Linda Hale, Fruitland, Meri Kay and Kim Hendricks, Boise; 15 cousins and 15 (second) cousins.

Moni was preceded in death by her sister, Raynll Panline Nell Hale.

Msgt Jack D. Hauser Sr.

Feb. 17, 1931 - July 26, 2003

Ontario - Msgt Jack D Hauser Sr. USAF retired, 72, Ontario died Saturday, July 26, 2003. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at the Wallowa Cemetery with interment to follow.

He was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Wallowa and shortly thereafter moved to LaGrande. The family returned to Wallowa during the summer of 1940. During his school years, he worked for the Oregon State Forestry for two summers on Howard Butte ad Woods Butte lookout towers. He also worked at J Herbert Bates Lumber Co. Upon graduation from high school May 1950, he moved to Missoula, Mont. there he worked as Apprentice Body and Fender Repairman. He returned to Wallowa September 1950 and enlisted in the USAF Sept. 20, 1950.

He remained on active duty and retired Dec. 1, 1970. During his career he received the AF Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, GMC with four loops, NOSM with one bronze star, AF Longevity Service Award with three OLC, small arms expert ribbon, Vietnam Service medal and armed forces reserve medal. He received numerous letters of commendation and appreciation. He attained the rank of Msgt Dec. 1, 1968.

He was a member of the American Legion, DRV, Life member VFW and retired Enlisted Association.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene, Ontario; children, Gloria I. Myers, Lancaster S.C., Mary Lou Zielinski, Millersville, Ga., Valray J Brown, Millersville, Ga., Jack D Hauser Jr., Orlando, Fla. and Robert Hauser USN, Jacksonville, Fla.; Two brothers, Carl, White City, and Melvin E, Baker City; numerous nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl C and Mary McLaughlin; two sisters, Mary Pauline Miller and Bernita Louise Matthews.

Memorial contributions in his memory maybe made to the charity of choice in care of the Bollman Funeral Home 315 W Main St. Enterprise, OR.

Sunny Beaman

July 12, 1932 - Dec. 19, 2004

Yakima, Wash. - Sunny Beaman, 72, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, after struggling from an extended illness.

She lived in Yakima, Wash., on and off all her life. She also lived and worked in Payette for many years, retiring from Ore-Ida Foods.

We all loved her and will deeply miss her.

Dorina Elenor "Cookie" Gallegos-Cornavaca

March 12, 1947 -Dec. 20, 2004

Nyssa - Dorina Elenor "Cookie" Gallegos-Cornavaca, 57, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at home in Nyssa after battling with cancer for six years.

Cookie was born March 28, 1947, in Dragerton, Utah, to Solomon Gallegos and Rafelita Gurule-Gallegos.

There will be a viewing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2004, at Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Ontario, and the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the Latin Assembly of God in Nyssa. Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery.

Cookie was preceded in death by her father, Solomon, in 1962, and brother "Husky" in 1967. She is survived by her mother, Rafelita Gallegos, Aloha, Ore., and 13 brothers and sisters, Anthony (LaRue) Gallegos, Blackfoot, Solomon "Shorty" (Gloria) Gallegos, Denver; Lena Apodaca, Salem; Paul A. Gallegos, Pingree, Idaho; Martha (Joe) Silva, San Benito, Texas; Theresa (Hector) Osuna, Alamo, Texas; David (Lori) Gallegos, Boise; Rose Gallegos, Forest Grove; Billy Gallegos, Nyssa; Elvie "Vetus" (Ruben) Gonzales, Nyssa; Philip (Linda) Gallegos, Nyssa; Robert "Bobby" Gallegos, Salem; LeRoy Gallegos, Aloha; 106 nephews and nieces that she loved very much. Also surviving is Cookie's husband, Pablo Cornavaca and stepson David Cornavaca.

May Cookie rest in peace with Jesus.

Dorothy Eula Sanders Stemen

Nov. 20, 1924 - Dec. 24, 2004

Nyssa - Dorothy Eula Sanders Stemen, 80, Nyssa, died Dec. 24, 2004, in a Boise hospital Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery, Nyssa, with Pastor Roy Delia, Faith Baptist Church, Nyssa, officiating. Services under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel, Nyssa.

Dorothy was born in McDonald County, Missouri on Nov. 20, 1924, the 14th child of Hiram and Mary Winchester. She attended school in Missouri.

Dorothy married Kenneth Sanders in 1941. She knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and has always been very active in the Baptist Church, singing and playing various musical instruments. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening hunting and traveling.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Bennett (and husband, Alan), Adrian, and Peggy Vander Oord, Nyssa; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; 13 brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Ray Vander Oord and her first husband, Kenneth Sanders.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to W.I.T.C.O. (a sheltered workshop for the handicapped), 690 West Idaho Avenue, Ontario, OR 97914.

Clarence (Bud) Boone, 86, Hammett, died Dec. 23, in a Boise care center. A viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Monday at the Hammett Community Church. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain Home. Arrangements under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.

Harvey Leroy Reel

July 17, 2932 - July 28, 2003

Ontario - Harvey Leroy Reel, 71, Ontario, died Monday, July 28, 2003. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Ontario with vault interment to follow at the Rosedale Memorial Gardens in Payette. A public visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Ontario.

Harvey was born July 17, 1932, in Mitchell, Neb. to Phillip and Anna Mohr Reel, the youngest of seven children. He moved to this area when he was 26 years old where he famed with his parents. He worked as a Game Warden for the Oregon State Game Commission. He married Cleone Pettet in 1950 in Ontario. They were married 38 years and had two children. He served in the National Guard from 1951 to 1958. The family moved to Summer Lake, where he continued to work as a Game Warden. He later returned to the Ontario area to farm. He married Marlene Dahnke Jan. 12, 1991, in Reno. He drove fuel truck for the Farmers Supply Co-op for 24 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church where he was a trustee. He volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels and drove the J.O.Y. club for the church. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and visiting with people.

He is survived by his wife Marlene, Ontario; a son, Larry Reel, Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, and son-in-law, Sheri and Curt Acree, Ontario; three step-sons, and their wives, Dean and LeeAnn Dahnke, Sunnyvale, Calif., Larry and Susan Dahnke, Payette, and Michael and Debbie Dahnke, Parma; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Carpenter, Boise and two brothers, Wayne Reel, Sacramento, Calif. and Bill Reel, Elk Grove, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and two sisters.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 208 S.W. First Ave. Ontario, OR 97914.

Charles 'Chuck' Smith

Charles "Chuck" Smith, 75, Ontario, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in a Boise Hospital. Vigil with Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Ontario. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Blessed Sacrament with Father W. Raymond Jarboe presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Jessie Elizabeth Lewis

Nov. 18, 1914 - Dec. 3, 2003

Ontario - "Grandma Jess" 89, Ontario, left this life Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, and went home to be with Jesus. She died peacefully at home with family and friends around her. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Christian Life Fellowship, 366 S.E. Fifth St., Ontario. Private family inurnment will be at a later date at Ocean View Cemetery, Coos Bay.

She was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Billings, Mont., the daughter of Nellie and Vincent Steele. She was one of twin girls; Jessie Elizabeth and Bessie Helene. They also had a brother, Donald Dickson.

Her father was the fire chief at Billings's fire station, she grew up playing cards with firemen, sliding down the fire pole and climbing on fire trucks. She attended school in Billings and two years at Eastern Montana University where she received her teaching certificate. She went on to spend multiple years teaching all eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse.

With the onset of World War II she applied to the CAA for an Air Traffic Control position, becoming one of the first woman air traffic controllers in the nation. She worked at several airports in Montana and Idaho before moving to North Bend, Oregon in the 1940's. Her new love of planes and flying sparked a desire to learn to fly, so she pursued her pilot's license. She loved to tell of her solo flight in an open cockpit biplane.

While fishing in nearby Allegany she met Walter Lewis of Coos Bay, Ore. They were married Feb. 21, 1950, and had a daughter, Linda. Making their home in Allegany they were half owners of Hank and Walts Tavern until 1972, when Jessie retired from the FAA.

In 1974 they moved to Ontario to be near their family, where she devotedly cared for Walt. She was widowed in 1975 after Walter's passing following an extended illness.

She spent her retirement years loving her family and friends, especially children, and was delighted to be known as "Grandma Jessie" to all who met her. She lived a full life loving airplanes and flying, weather observation, rock collecting, playing and listening to piano music, and of course attending potlucks and pinochle parties with her many friends. Grandma could often be found at area restaurants eating biscuits and gravy. She enjoyed being a member of Hyline and Solona Clubs on the Oregon Slope, and was an active member of St. John's Church of Christ in Payette where she was the organist for 15 years.

Jessie is survived by her dear twin sister, Bessie Wright, Billings, Mont.; her daughter, and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Williams, Ontario; her stepdaughter-in-law, Colice Lewis, Sheridan; her granddaughters, Bobbi May, Eagle, and Kristi Schmidlekofer, Newburg, and Peggy Lewis, McMinnville; her grandsons, Mike Lewis, Boston, Mass., and Kurt Lewis, Haines; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her brother, Don and a stepson, Robert Lewis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation in c/o Lienkaemper's Funeral Chapel.

Madalynne E. Rutherford, 79, died Oct. 13, 2001 at home. Services pending, Accent Funeral Homes. Arrangements under the direction of Accent Funeral Homes, Meridian.

Scott Lee Spencer, 33, died Oct. 11, 2001. Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.

Neva Wansgard, 65, Las Vegas, formerly of Caldwell, died Oct. 12, 2001 in Las Vegas of natural causes.

Carmalita House Zamzow, 104, died Oct. 13, 2001 in a local care center. Viewing will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesay at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.

Richard David Rost, 58, Gooding, died April 17, 2003 in a Gooding hospital. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, Wendell. Visitation for family and friends will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Demaray's Gooding Chapel and 10 a. m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial with military honors will be held in the Wendell Cemetery.

Kristin Marie Luna, 39, Meridian, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth, with the Rev. Mark Bekkedahl officiating. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. A viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth.

Maria Del Rosorio Rodriguez Mendoza, 52, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in a local hospital. No funeral services will be held but friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Lienkaemper Chapel, Nyssa. Burial will be at a later date in Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel, Nyssa.
