Divin Alfredo Thayer Watkins
WATKINS, Divin Alfredo Thayer — Passed over on Wednesday, August 9, 2006.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at Westlawn, Eugene, Oregon, 225 S. Danebo Ave.
Divin was born on December 30, 1980, and was a loving son and brother.
He passed over 25 years, 8 months and 9 days later.
Divin grew up in Days creek and Tiller, Oregon, area.
He graduated with the class of 1999, from Riddle High School.
He also graduated from Umpqua Community College in 2001.
“We love you very much.”
Survivors include his mother, Terre Gonzales; father, Stephen Watkins; brothers, Obadiah and Stephen; sisters, Naomi and Abiyah.

YARBROUGH, Brenda Gail — Age 57, of Newberg, Oregon, passed away on Monday September 25, 2006.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.

Max Lotter Seitz
SEITZ, Max Lotter — Age 87 of Roseburg, Oregon has joined our lord on Friday, September 22, 2006.
He was born on January 29,1919 in Afton, Iowa, son of John and Lorena Seitz.
He served our country during WWII in the US Army Engineering Corp and participated in the Normandy invasion. He moved to the Roseburg area after the war ad he and his father bought the Dixonville store and ran it.
He later became a building contractor and a service station owner.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed all sports and reading and doing crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 yrs., Helen, and son Bill True.
He is survived by three daughters; Debbie Juden and her husband Bernie; Mary Hunt and her husband Gary; Judy True Lucas and her husband Bob; seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Graveyard services will be held at 11am on Wednesday October 4, 2006 at the Roseburg national VA Cemetery.

Stanley Joe Forrest
FORREST, Stanley Joe—Age 58, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the Roseburg Veterans Medical Center.
He was born on February 26, 1948 in Roseburg to Charles and Billie Forrest.
He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, in Portland, Oregon in June of 1966.
Stanley was drafted and served our country while in the US Army from November 1967 to September 1969, when he was injured in combat.
He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and The Air Medal for his courageous service.
After his military service, Stanley attended Portland State University where he received an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering.
Stanley’s hobbies included camping, astrology and discussing philosophy.
Friends and family can pay their respects at a graveside funeral service at 10:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Roseburg VA National Cemetery.
The VFW District Twelve Honor Guard will offer military rites.
Stanley will be laid to rest in the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.

Barbara Charmae (Bush) Wilfong
WILFONG, Barbara Charmae (Bush) — Age 79, was born on February 3, 1927, in Baldwin Park, California, to Charles Wesley Bush and Mabel Azella (Slingerland) Bush.
She died at a local medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon, on September 19, 2006.
She married Cecil Monrovia Wilfong on February 6, 1945 in Yuma, AZ.
For many years she lived and worked in Southern California.
They moved to Brookings, Oregon in 1983 after their retirement.
In 1996, they moved to Roseburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, her sister, Marguarite Hausmann, and a granddaughter, Rory Donelle Banning.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Torres and her husband, Ralph of Temecula, California; her three children, Linda Charmae Banning and her husband, Roy of Knoxville, Tennessee; Terry Lee Deakins and her husband, Robert of Murphy, North Carolina; Gary Wayne Wilfong and his wife, Ruth Ann of Roseburg, Oregon.
In addition she is survived by her seven grandchildren, Lynnae Charmae Johnson and her husband, Eddie; Ramie Dawn Jordon and her husband, Keith; Shannon Dale Wester and Wendy Woodall; Darren Wayne Wester and his wife, Aimee; Shawn Scott Wester; Chet David Wilfong and his wife, Kelly; Kellie Ann Smith and her husband, Matthew.
She is also survived by her 14 great-grandchildren, Jared Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Zachary Jordon, Peyton Jordon, Klent Woodall, Morgan Woodall, Katelyn Wester, Dustin Wester, Logan Wester, Brodie Wilfong, Kaeden Oliver, Ramsey Wilfong, Chevy Wimberly and Taylor Smith.
Her service will be at Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at 11 a.m.

Virginia Ahlstrand
AHLSTRAND, Virginia — Of Winston, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the age of 99.
She was born on June 24, 1907, in Riverside, Idaho, to William and Shara (Cobby) Parks.
She worked as a restaurant cook for years.
She married John Ahlstrand in Blackfoot, Idaho.
He preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Norton of Cottage Grove, Oregon; Shirley McMurry of Portland, Oregon and Shana Arnold of Roseburg; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Reed, Lane and Boyd Hopla and two daughters, Cheryl Baker and Berna Berg.
No services are planned.

Vivan B. Sanders
SANDERS, Vivan B. — Age 81, lived all over Pacific Northwest, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2006.
She was born on January 14, 1925, in Marshall, Montana.
A son, Rev. Billy R. Sanders, Jr., is a pastor of Sutherlin Christian Assembly church.
He was a pastors of various churches is the Pacific Norwest and Southern California.
She was a kind, gentle woman devoted to a life of Christian ministry.
Vivan is survived by a sister, Nadine Herndon of Marshall and a brother, Calvin Padgett of Brookfield, Georgia; five children, Victor Sanders and wife, Sally of Longview, Washington; Rev. Billy R. Sanders, Jr. and wife, Helen of Sutherlin, Oregon; Sandra Prichard and husband, Patrick of Elizabeth, Colorado; David Sanders and wife, Lauri of Forth Worth, Texas and Mary Haverly and husband, Gregg of Anchorage, Alaska; 15 grand-children and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Billy R. Sanders Sr. in December of 2002.
A service date in November to be determined at Sutherlin Christian Assembly.

Bernice ‘Bea’ Blanch Buchanan
BUCHANAN, Bernice“Bea” Blanch — Passed away on September 24, 2006, at the age of 82.
She was born to Leonard and Bonnie Cowen on February 28, 1924.
She met her husband John in Sacramento, California, and they were married in 1952.
Together they raised two sons.
Bea had a very full life.
She and her husband, John were successful restaurant owners, operating several diners and cafes in California, Idaho, and Oregon.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling, particularly to Arizona as a snowbird.
During the past 16 years, Bea and John settled down in Woodland Hills Senior Estate to be near family.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Bea is survived by her husband, John; sons, Geary Buchanan of Indiana and John Rice of Texas; devoted daughter in-law, Linda and loving grandsons, Geary and Cory. Her sister, Virginia also survives her.

Oriel Evangeline (Johnson) Fromdahl
FROMDAHL, Oriel Evangeline (Johnson) — Was born in Watertown, South Dakota, on March 28, 1924.
She grew up in the Midwest, graduating class valedictorian from High School in Wallace South Dakota.
Oriel and her sister Donna sang with the Harmony Girls on various radio stations around the area during their high school years and music remained an important art of her life. She was singing with her daughters and granddaughters until the day of her death.
The Angels in Heaven now have an excellent alto in their choir.
In 1943, Oriel married Lloyd Fromdahl.
In 1952, they, along with three small children, loaded up an old panel truck and moved to Roseburg, Oregon.
Lloyd worked in the mills.
They had their fourth child and Oriel was wife and mother, until they built Grandview Nursing Home.
They operated the Nursing Home until 1965, when they sold Grandview and moved to South Dakota.
There they operated a dairy farm with the help of sons, Larry and Tony.
After seven hard years, they returned to Roseburg and Lloyd became a building contractor with Oriel as his bookkeeper and favorite assistant.
In 1980, Oriel was hired by Douglas County as a CNA at Douglas County Nursing Home and later transferred to the Courthouse as a custodian where she worked until her retirement, at age 70, in 1994.
Family gatherings were her favorite times and she was often a cheerleader for her grandchildren at their school sporting events.
She was a fun mom and grandma and made everyone around her feel young.
Oriel was a long-time Blazer basketball fan and cheered the team on for years.
She enjoyed playing the piano, going to the coast, shopping with her daughters to keep up with the latest styles, tending her flowers, reading, traveling, playing Bunco and looking for that jackpot at Seven Feathers.
Her contagious smile and loving heart are a great loss to all the lives she touched.
Four children, Jackie Berkshire, Larry Fromdahl, Tony Fromdahl and wife, Janet; Sandy Brown and husband, TJ, all of Roseburg and her sister, Donna Shanahan and husband, Darold of Georgetown, Texas, survive her.
Her loving grandchildren are Dawn Sutherland and husband, Doug and great-granddaughter, Amber of Ashland, Oregon; Eric Berkshire and wife, Denise of Hillsboro, Oregon; Scott Lawrence and his special gal, Lesa Hughes and great grandsons John and Kagen of Redmond, Oregon; Wayne Fromdahl and great-grandsons, Morgan and Jack of Georgia; Genny Christy and great-granddaughter, Brittany of Wamego, Kansas; great-grandson, Jody of Alabama; Amanda Fromdahl and great-grandson, Aason of Ashland; Julie Harris and her special guy, Ian Long of Roseburg; Stacy Harris of Roseburg; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Her grand-kitty, Lucy and grand-dog, Bandit will also mourn her.
Her courageous battle with cancer was typical of her way of life–to accept life as it came, do your best to deal with the situation at hand, while always putting the feelings of others before her own.
She passed away at home with her family at her side on Sunday, September 24, 2006.
Her husband, Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Diana and parents, Oscar and Olivia Johnson preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.

Frank Joseph Brum
BRUM, Frank Joseph — Age 87, passed away peacefully at a local care facility.
He was born to Manuel and Margaret Brum in Bakersfield, California, on October 2, 1919.
Frank enrolled and attended grade school there.
Later his family moved to the San Fransisco Valley.
There Frank graduated from high school.
In March of 1941, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a communications specialist.
His commission sent him around the world to such places as Africa and Europe.
He worked on projects to assist the local governments with telephone lines Frank also installed telephone lines along the Al-Can Highway in Alaska.
While stationed at Fort White in White City, Oregon, Frank met Leona Crow, the love of his life.
On November 13, 1942, they were married in Reno, Nevada.
They moved on to Grants Pass, Oregon, where their first child was born.
After a few years, Frank returned to the San Fernando Valley area.
He remained there until 1948.
He then moved his family to Brookings, Oregon, where he again worked in a mill.
When he needed a change he went to work on the bulb farms.
Regardless of where Frank was working, he always enjoyed his time with his family; he was raised a Catholic, and held strong family values.
Frank had become quite fond of his dogs, he always seemed to have a special place in his heart for his four legged friends.
In 1997, Frank’ s wife of 54 years passed away.
Frank then returned to the Roseburg, Oregon, area.
He is survived by his sisters, Francis and Barbara; children, Sharon Foster of Eugene, Oregon; Lanny Brum and his wife, Tonya of Nevada and Carl and his wife, Cindy of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Margaret Brum; three brothers and five sisters.
A private family service will follow at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
WILSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES is in charge of arrangements.

Merle Henry Good
GOOD, Merle Henry — 2-10-1920 — 10-3-2006.
Born in Hobby, Pennsylvania to Foster and Pearl Travelpiece.
Merle married Evelyn Russell in May 1940 and two children were born of this wedlock; Eileen Paul, wife of Roger Paul of Roseburg, Oregon; Bruce Good, husband to Marlene in Bernville, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Greg Koenig of Beverly, Kansas; Carol Sleinkofer of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania; Tammy LaBeck of Hillsboro, Oregon; Nancy Luckenbill of Bernville; Lori Ferretti of Reading, Pennsylvania; Troy Mullins of Roseburg and 13 great-grandchildren.
Merle worked most of his life as a farmer and dairyman.
Merle and Evelyn moved to Roseburg in 1960.
He was a long-time employee of Suiters Building Supply and Garden Hills Apartments.
Merle was one of eleven children in the family, six of whom preceded him in death.
Always the rock, always dependable, always a warm smile, Dad we love you and know you are now with your Heavenly Father.
Grandpa, we sure do miss you.
Merle spent every day of his life willing to help family and friends.
Thank you Dad for being Mother’s primary care giver for over 66 years.
Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of life memorial on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Nazarene, Diamond Lake Blvd., Roseburg, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Merle’s name to the “Roseburg Church of the Nazarene”.

Charles Robert Ragan
RAGAN, Charles Robert — Age 85, passed away on October 2, 2006, at the Roseburg V.A. Hospital.
Charles was born in Brownsfield, Mississippi, on May 23, 1921, to Henry and Mary Ragan.
He attended grade school and graduated from high school there.
When he was 27 years old he moved to Texas and married Louise Smith.
They had three children.
Charles enlisted in the United States Army and later became an engineer.
They later relocated to Vallejo, California, then on to other places.
Charles lived in Oregon communities such as Klamath Falls, Oregon, Springfield, Oregon, and Roseburg.
He was a hard working man with great values and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Those who wish may pay their respects on Saturday, October 7, 2006, from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m., with a memorial service at WILSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES.
