Maybelle V. Neil Buell
BUELL, Maybelle V. Neil — A memorial service will be held for Maybelle V. Neil Buell at the New Life Church in Sutherlin, Oregon, 865 W. Central Avenue on Sunday, October 15, 2006, at 2 p.m.
All of her family, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend and share memories.

Dorothy Ware
WARE, Dorothy — Age 90, passed away peacefully at her home In Roseburg.
She was born on September 15, 1916 in Ely, Nevada.
She was one of seven children born to Charles and Charlotte Ware.
Dorothy attended grade school and high school in Susanville, California.
A few years later she met the love of her life, Leroy Ware.
They were married in Grants Pass on January 2, 1937.
Dorothy stayed busy as a homemaker and certainly extremely busy as a mother of nine.
She was raised as a Christian and has loved her faith.
She loved nothing more than to pick up a good book, and read until she tired.
Dorothy loved to crochet, she enjoyed most of the activities that kept her hands busy.
Dorothy is survived by her brothers, Charles Carr of Klamath Falls, Robert Carr of Washington state, daughters, Barbara Ware of Roseburg, Phyllis Davis and her husband, Jim of Myrtle Creek, Nancy Warner and her husband, William of St. Helens, LaVerne McCarley and her husband, Wes of Seaside, sons, Michael Ware of Myrtle Creek, James Ware and wife, Debbi of Canyonville, Robert Ware and wife, Helen of Gig Harbor, David and wife, Tracy of Myrtle Crek, Roger Ware and wife, Dee of Weaverville, California, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Charlotte, brothers, Charles Carr and Robert Carr.
For those wishing to pay their respects may do so Friday, October 6, 2006 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at WILSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES.
A graveside service is set for 3:00 pm Friday at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
Charity Hays will officiate. Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.

Alice L. Morrison
Morrison, Alice L. — Age 89, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2006.
She was born on January 21, 1917, in Seacliff, Long Island, New York, the daughter of Nicklas and Mathilde (Thompson) Lundin.
She moved with her family as a young girl to Pasadena, California, where she was raised and educated.
She was united in marriage to Russell Francis Morrison on January 14, 1941, in Pasadena.
While he served our country during WWII in the US Navy, she became a beautician.
They moved to Oregon in 1961 and settled in the Roseburg area, which has been home since.
Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed all the crafts needed to take care of her family.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking.
She also loved to volunteer at nursing homes and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Alice enjoyed music and played the piano and organ.
She always enjoyed the coast and swimming.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Louise Page of Rice Hill, Oregon and Steven Morrison of Oxnard, California.
She also leaves her sister, Margaret L. Martin of Sutherlin, Oregon and Margaret’s family.
Alice has six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters and a brother.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the First Conservative Baptist Church in Roseburg.
Officiating will be Pastor Ron Laeger.
Private interment will be at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Silas D.O. Fox
FOX, Silas D.O. – Age 89, passed away on October 7, 2006, in Federal Way, Washington.
He was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina, on July 12, 1917.
His wife of 64 years, Lillian; his son, Fred Fox and wife, Susie of St. Helena, California; his daughter, Beverly and husband, Michael Hasting of Auburn, Washington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survives him.
He was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Silas and Lillian met in nurses training in Fletcher, North Carolina.
Silas graduated from the Florida Hospital School of Nursing.
Silas served in the Navy in World War II and was a hospital corpsman in Okinawa on D Day.
He drove taxicab in Washington, D.C. for 6 years before going on to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor.
He graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship in Muskegon, Michigan.
Silas began the practice of medicine in Oregon in 1959 and continued the practice of medicine in the Myrtle Creek area through 1983.
His patients came from hundreds of miles around.
Following retirement in 1983, Silas volunteered in many church mission building projects, serving in whatever capacity was needed, roofing, painting, remodeling, etc. A memorial service is to be held on October 28, 2006, at 3 p.m., in the Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Ero H. Hill
HILL, Ero H. — Age 84, born in Dickey, North Dakota, on January 7, 1922, to Frank and Hilda Hill both from Finland.
He passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2006.
Ero enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942.
He was a First Class Gunner’s Mate on the U.S.S. Fox and U.S.S. YMS #66.
He was very proud of his service to his country.
He was a 50 year member of the Shrine and 32nd mason.
He worked in the woods at the age of 15.
He later became a timber cruiser and share holder of Brookings and Mullamoha Plywood.
After he retired, he commercial fished with his friend for 6 years.
He and his wife, Grace moved to Roseburg, Oregon, in early 1990’s.
He loved the beach and people.
Everyone was his friend Ero enjoyed his neighbors, yard/garden and wild life programs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace and step-son, Larry.
Ero will be deeply missed by Mary who loved and cared for him.
He will always be in my heart.
Thanks to Dr. Jaworski, Mercy Hospice and staff and all the dear nurses who helped care for him.
You were angels! Thank you.

Joseph T. Cooper
COOPER, Joseph T. — Age 80, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away peacefully at a Roseburg hospital, on Thursday, October 5, 2006, with the love of his life, Norma A. Cooper, by his side. He was born on July 28, 1926, in Panguitch, Utah, the son of Joseph Trave and Myrtle (Elsion) Cooper.
His fondest memories were of his childhood, growing up on the homestead in Panguitch, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father.
He graduated from Garfield High School.
He then entered the U.S. Army to serve his country in Italy during WWII.
After the war, he and his buddies ventured to the Northwest to pursue a career in logging.
He was united in marriage to Norma, on October 24, 1950, in Fredonia, Arizona, and they started their family.
They enjoyed many years camping, fishing and hunting while residing between the states of Oregon and Utah.
He supported his family as a meat manager for various markets.
They later retired to Roseburg, where he enjoyed working in his yard and caring for his roses.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Veterans Of Foreign Wars and The American Legion.
He was also a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ, Of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Norma Adams Cooper of Roseburg.
He also leaves his daughter, Vicki Lynn Rush and her husband, Jim of Oak Harbor, Washington; his sons, Joseph Trave Cooper of Roy, Utah; Jeffery Adams Cooper and his wife, Kathey of Clinton, Utah and Jan Raymond Cooper and his wife, Susan of Layton, Utah.
Joseph has 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many brothers, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Theda Cooper, Betty Lou Heycock Allen and Myrtle Talbot, all of Panguitch.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Umpqua Valley Rehab, Rose Haven Nursing Home, Mercy Medical Center and all the doctors, nurses and C.N.A.’s for all the loving care Joseph received. Funeral services will be held in Layton, Utah.
All of your family and friends miss you and your wonderful smile.
We love you so much.

Christopher Eric Rogers
ROGERS, Christopher Eric — Age 32, passed away on Friday October 6, 2006.
Christopher was born in Roseburg, Oregon, on January 22, 1974, to Janice and Lee Rogers.
He shared his childhood with his sister, Lisa, cousin, Bri and other siblings, Lorralie, Trish and Scott.
After graduating from South Umpqua High School in 1992, Christopher proudly followed in the footsteps of his father and served as a U.S. Marine/ During his service he guarded President Clinton at the funeral of President Nixon.
He was also stationed in Okinowa, Japan, for one year.
Where he was an instructor on the firing range.
After his honorable discharge in 1996.
Christopher returned to Myrtle Creek.
He enjoyed various outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping and being the chef at family BBQ’s, always having his beloved dog Simon in tow.
But, Christopher always set aside each Sunday to spend watching Nascar with his wife, Gina.
Their journey began as childhood friends, he being Gina’s “First Kiss”.
They lost touch after high school but reunited at their ten year class reunion.
He proposed a few months later atop of the Seattle Space Needle and on July 19, 2003, Christopher, Gina and her son, Logan became a family.
A special bond was formed between he and Logan.
Christopher shared his favorite outdoor activities with him and the two quickly became a very special addition in each others lives.
A mere three months ago, Christopher and Gina were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Marlee Faith, born on June 19, 2006.
Although they had so little time together, he made sure Marlee knew that she would always be “Daddy’s Little Princess”.
Being so young.
Christopher left a lot of loved ones behind including all the above mentioned and his grandmother, Martha Rogers; aunts, Phil and her husband, Ron Edwards; Joyce and her husband, Jimmy Cooksley; Antie Ardelle and numerous cousins.
Christopher was a proud and involved uncle to, Tosha, Ellerey, Desty, Sophie, Katrina, Natalie, Meghan, Terak, Trista, Jake and Matthew.
Preceding him in death is his father, Lee Rogers; grandfather, Louie Rogers; maternal grandmother, Inez Townsend and close friends and hunting buddies Boone (Dan Mills).
Though his presence will be greatly missed by all of us, the impression he left in each of our lives will never be forgotten.
Thank you Chris for the memories, the friendship, the laughs and above all the Love!
Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m., on Thursday, October 12, 2006.
Celebration of life memorial to follow at Chris and Gina’s home.

Barbara Jean ‘Jeanie’ Fugate
FUGATE, Barbara Jean “Jeanie” — Age 64, of La Pine, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2006.
She was born on January 20, 1942, to parents, John and Mable (Hixon) Cooper.
She graduated from Del Norte High School in Klamath, California.
She worked as a clerk for K-mart in Roseburg, Oregon for over 12 years.
She enjoyed fishing, crafting, cross stitching and spending time with family.
Barbara is survived by sons, Pokey Fugate of La Pine; Scott Fugate of Springfield, Oregon; Lance Fugate of La Pine; daughter, Kim Rokus of Roseburg, Oregon; brother, Dean Cooper of Hanford, California.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2006, at 1 p.m., at the Glide Community Hall in Glide, Oregon.

Herman ‘Bill’ Anthony Rigutto
RIGUTTO, Herman “Bill” Anthony — Passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006, of lung cancer.
Bill was born on June 21, 1920, in Portland, Oregon.
He married Lois Ritchie in 1967 and started a family in Eugene, Oregon.
Bill lived 36 years in Portland, five years in Eastern Oregon, seven years, in Eugene, Oregon, three years. in Carson City, Nevada, and the last 35 years in Roseburg, Oregon.
Bill was in the United States Army and attended Oregon State University.
Mr. Rigutto is survived by his wife, Lois Rigutto; daughter, Lisa and sons, Martin, Rico, Bill, of Reno, and Jonathan Rigutto; and son, Richard Heard; sister; Julia Pagan, and husband, Paul; cousins; Fred, and Ray Rigutto, cousins in Italy, Manno, Rozina, Rino, Nevis, Angelo, Christina, and cousins in Holland, Pierre, and Vellario.
A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, at 6 p.m.

Jason Todd Hostetler
HOSTETLER, Jason Todd — Age 36, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2006.
He fought the good fight and never gave up.
He was born on July 2, 1970, in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, the son of Allen and Patsy (Hardage) Hostetler.
He moved with his family at a young age, settling in Dillard, Oregon, in 1977.
He attended grade school in Myrtle Creek and graduated from Douglas High School in 1988.
Jason was a Christian and loved the Lord.
He had worked at Domino’s Pizza and Carl’s Jr. before going to work at Southbound Sound.
He enjoyed music and played guitar with two bands, Warning and Madam Blue throughout the area, including the coast.
However, Jason’s real love was his three children, Kristen, Jared and Joshua.
He is survived by his children and their mother, Cheryl Massey of Winston, Oregon.
He also leaves his mother, Patsy Hostetler of Myrtle Creek; his best friend, like a brother, Steve Curwick of Winchester, Oregon, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, October 21, 2006, at the Garden Valley Christian Assembly Church. Private interment will be at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Donations in Jason’s name can be made to either to UCAN (United Community Action Network) or the Kidney Association.

Kathleen Sue (Robins) Wiggins
WIGGINS, Kathleen Sue (Robins) — 51 years, of Cheshire, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2006.
She was born on December 13, 1954, in Roseburg, Oregon, to Robert and Margaret (Fisher) Robins.
Kathleen was baptized and later confirmed at St. George‘s Episcopal Church in Roseburg.
She attended public schools in Roseburg.
She attended public schools in choir and in the band.
She placed 3rd in the Sate High School Solo Competition playing the oboe.
She attended Southern Oregon University on an Oboe Scholarship later changing to a Music Education graduating in 1977.
She taught music in the elementary schools in Gold Beach, Oregon, Roseburg and Junction City, Oregon.
She also taught elementary classes in Junction City.
She played in the Lane Community Orchestra, quartets and ensembles.
She was active in the Folk Dance group in Junction City and The Scandinavian Festival, serving on the Board of Directors.
She enjoyed travel with her father to England, Scotland, and Norway, the Northwest U.S., and the Oregon Coast.
Annual Labor Day family get-togethers at Devil’s Elbow Park near Heceta Head were special times for her and her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Jeffi) Robins. Survivors daughter, Megan Wiggins of Cheshire, Oregon, step-daughter, Melody Heiser of Bigen, Washington; son, Joseph Wiggins IV of Eugene, Oregon; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Robins of Roseburg, Oregon; brother, David Robins of Columbus, Ohio; father, Robert (Bob) Robins of Roseburg; aunt and uncle Charles and Barbara Robins of Woodville, Washington.
Memorial services will be Monday, October 23, 2006, at 4 p.m, in the Junction City High School Gymnasium.

Grace Lydia Duncan Weber
WEBER, Grace Lydia Duncan — Of Roseburg, Oregon, was taken by the Angels on October 6, 2006, at the age of 96.
She was born on September 8, 1910, in Northville, South Dakota, to Samuel and Lydia Duncan.
After graduating from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Grace moved to Alhambra, California, where she met her husband to be, Henry Victor Weber.
They were married on February 17, 1934.
Henry and Grace moved to Douglas County in late 1934, where they spent 65 years together.
They lived on a ranch in Round Prairie, where they raised their two sons.
Grace helped Henry with many things through the years, including baking for Weber’s Bakery in Roseburg and the numerous chores of running the sheep ranch.
Grace was a teacher in Myrtle Creek and Dillard, Oregon, for over 30 years.
She supported her children in their many school activities and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was an avid reader, liked to sew and crochet, enjoyed going for walks, and loved every dog she met.
“A dog is a good friend,” she would always say.
Grace believed in looking on the bright side of life and showed kindness of all.
She never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and her bright smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Grace is survived by her sons, Michael Weber of Roseburg, Oregon and Dennis Weber of Las Vegas, Nevada; her grandchildren, Dana Weber Dickey of Reno, Nevada; Daniel Weber and Dawn Weber of Roseburg, Oregon; David Weber of Las Vegas, Nevada; her great-grandchildren, Beau Dickey of Reno, Nevada; Dawson and Duncan Weber of Roseburg; Kristina and Sydney Weber of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews/ At her request there will be no services.
Chapel of the Roses is assisting the family.

Jesse James Fox
FOX, Jesse James — Age 89, of Eugene, Oregon, born on February 4, 1917.
Passed away on on October 7, 2006, in his sleep, at home.
He married Dorothy L. Funderberk, in 1958, whom passed away in 1979.
He was active in numerous lodges.
Survivors include, Myra Grabinski; Sally Fox; Jeffery Fox, William Kramer and Georgia Peterson.

Dean Robert Bright
BRIGHT, Dean Robert — Age 32, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, while serving our country in Iraq.
He was born on October 13, 1973, in North Bend, Oregon.
Dean spent his whole life in Sutherlin, graduating from Sutherlin High School in 1992.
While in high school, Dean spent all four years in FFA.
He also enjoyed playing football and baseball and he served as Senior Class President.
Dean married the love of his life, Becky Sanders, on July 23, 1994.
The couple share two wonderful children, son, Jarrod who was born July 20, 1997 and daughter, Madison, who was born July 5, 2000.
Dean’s proudest accomplishments in life are his children.
Dean volunteered with the Sutherlin Fire Department as well as a Reserve Police Officer in Powers, Oregon.
He also served on the Sutherlin City Council in 2001 and was a proud member of the Myrtle Point VFW.
Dean enjoyed coaching girls softball, riding 4-wheelers, hunting with his dad, talking with family and friends and making all who knew him laugh.
Dean worked several places, but most of his time was spent at US Marine/Bayliner in Winchester, Oregon.
Dean joined the United States Army in September 2005.
He was deployed to Iraq with the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division in March 2006.
During that time he received the Bronze Star with Valor.
Since his death, family has been notified that Dean will be receiving another Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Other awards that Dean was awarded during his service include: Army Accommodation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and the Expert Weapons Badge.
Dean was a wonderful father, son, brother and friend.
We will love you and miss you more than words can say.
Survivors include: father, Bob Bright and his wife, Emily of Myrtle Point, Oregon; mother, Norma Lane, and her husband, Chris of Sutherlin, Oregon; the love of his life, Becky Bright, of Sutherlin, Oregon; son, Jarrod Bright, of Sutherlin, Oregon; daughter, Madison Bright, of Sutherlin, Oregon; sister, Sandra Powell and her husband, Ron of Roseburg, Oregon; special niece, Myah Dalby, of Roseburg, Oregon; grandparents, Tink and Jean Bright, of Sutherlin, Oregon and grandmother, Darlene Pingleton and her husband, Tom of Winston, Oregon. Dean was preceded in death by grandfather, Bill Fullerton. Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Sutherlin High School. Graveside services will follow at the V.A. National Cemetery in Roseburg, Oregon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dean Bright Memorial Fund at any Premier West Bank. Chapel of the Firs is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Joseph Flury
FLURY, Robert Joseph — Age 63, passed away at a hospital in Salem, Oregon. He was born to Henry and Adelaide Flury on December 7, 1942 in Olympia, Washington. At age 2 his family moved to Roseburg, Oregon, where he attended grade school and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1961. During his youth, Robert was a member of the Roseburg Rod and Gun Club. During his teens, he was the Oregon State Champion sharp shooter for 4 years. He was a member of the 1st place championship team for 7 years. Bob was also ranked number 2 in the nation for shooters under the age of 13. Bob always had a great love for the military. Although health kept him from joining the military as a teenager, at age 32 he was finally accepted into the U.S. Army. While serving he was on the Army Rifle Team. He was stationed in places such as Missouri and Alaska. After serving 8 years in the service he was discharged and returned to the Roseburg area. He was an active member of the National Rifle Association. Bob had a great love for his family and friends. He once went to the Humane Society and rescued the ugliest cat available. Robert simply adored his cats. Gordie and Spot. Bob is survived by his mother; Adelaide Flury of Roseburg, brother; Jeff Flury of Roseburg, sister; Susan Gaylor of Kent, WA.; children; Scott Flury of Kent, WA., Sue Martinez and her husband Tony of Portland, Oregon, Paul Flury and his wife Michelle of Lake Oswego, Oregon, grand-children; Jared Flury of Kent Wa., Elena and Tony Martinez of Portland, OR., and Jake Flury of Lake Oswego, OR. He is proceeded in death by his father Henry Flury. For those that knew Bob, the family invites you to join them at a luncheon memorial at Elmer’s Pancake House Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oregon Lung Association in Bob’s name.

Chester Morris Day
DAY, Chester Morris — Passed away at a local care facility. He was 72 years old. He was born in Helena, Montana, on May 27, 1934. Chester was raised and educated in Montana and Idaho. In 1969, he moved his family to the Southern Oregon area. He loved hunting and had a passion for gold panning in Oregon’s rivers and streams. Chester was a past member of the Sutherlin Eagles Lodge. He spent his career working as an automotive mechanic.
Chester was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all. Chester is survived by his daughter, Pam Maham of Roseburg; Susan Day of San Diego, California; sons, Bill Day of Shady Cove; Don Day of Roseburg and John Day and his wife, Edith of Christmas Valley, Oregon; grandchildren, Kenny Day; Angie Bonner; Jeremy Mahan; Jade Majors; Brandon Kiefel; Jessica Montgomery; Kyle Kiefel and four great great-grandchildren. Chester is preceded death by his parents and granddaughter, Kristi Mahan. Private cremation rites have been held. WILSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES is in charge of the arrangements.

BUELL, Maybelle V. Neil — A memorial service will be held for Maybelle V. Neil Buell at the New Life Church in Sutherlin, Oregon, 865 W. Central Avenue on Sunday, October 15, 2006, at 2 p.m. All of her family, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend and share memories.
