Mary (June) Christensen

Mary (June) Christensen, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at the Lake District Hospital following a brief illness.
June was born April 6, 1935 to Isaac and Lois (Harden) Tate in San Bernardino, Calif.
She came to Paisley with her family in 1965 where she has been a resident enjoying her hobbies that included writing poetry, knitting and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include sons Terry Christensen of Sacramento, Calif. and Paul Christensen of King Of Prussia, Penn.; daughters Alisa Califano of Lakeview and Lois Gutierrez of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother Howard Tate of Louisiana; sister Pat Gerhart of Alabama; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of June's Life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Paisley Community Center with the Rev. Vi Goodman officiating.
The interment will be private in the family plot at the Paisley Cemetery.
A potluck luncheon will follow the services at the Community Center. Contributions in the memory of June may be made to the Paisley Disaster Unit or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel has charge of he arrangements.

Wesley Earl Pardue

Longtime Soldotna, Alaska resident Wesley Earl Pardue, 60, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, with his family by his side at home.
Mr. Pardue was born Oct. 2, 1948, to Leslie and Marge (Morris) Pardue in Lakeview. He attended schools in Lakeview, Rufus and Moroand graduated from high school in Dayton,Wash. in 1966.
Wes married Betty Waltermire the summer of 1966 and they had two children, Billy and Doug. They later divorced.
Wes traveled the world working for oil companies in places such as United Arab Emirates and Zaire.
He moved to Alaska in 1976 andhad lived in Soldotna ever since. He was working for Ocean Beauty Seafoods, spending his summers helping out on the docks; he drove trucks and operated heavy equipment in Nikiski. He also worked for Piquhiq Management Corp. in Prudhoe Bay. Mr. Pardue enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, music, cooking, and playing cards with family and friends.
'Wes enjoyed being with his family. He was a loving husband and father. His support was a huge comfort. When his son was asked, What will you miss most about Dad? He smiled and said, '˜Everything.' He had a great sense of humor and his playful teasing is something we will miss as well,' his family said. 'Wes loved driving truck and heavy equipment. We will think of him with a smile every time we see a crossword puzzle that needs to be solved.'
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, JoeAnne Pardue of Soldotna; parents Leslie and Marge Pardue of Spokane Valley, Wash.; sons and daughters-in-law Billy and Jeanie Pardue of Olympia, Wash., Doug and Machielle Pardue of Chehalis, Wash., and Demetri Pardue of Soldotna; sisters and brothers-in-law Bonnie and Mike Crothers of Dayton, Wash., and Leslie and Phil Green ofSpokane Valley; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were heldFriday, Feb. 6, 2009 at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai with the Rev. Chuck Thorntonofficiating. His cremated remains will be scattered at the mouth of the Kenai River at a later date.

Rhea Garrett VanDenBerg

Rhea Garrett VanDenBerg, 68, passed away in Lakeview on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Harvey Childress. After a courageous battle with cancer, Rhea is now resting peacefully in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Rhea, more affectionately known as Wamma, was born July 27, 1940 in Lakeview to Ed and Mildred (Branch) Garrett. She spent her entire life living in the wonderful town of Lakeview. As a young girl, Rhea and her sister Mickey rode double on horseback, rain or shine, to Union School until third grade, when the school finally provided bus transportation. Rhea spent many hours of her life on horseback. During the haying season, she also drove a team of horses with a dump rake.
Rhea was queen of the Lake County Round-Up in 1957. She remained active in the rodeo association and helped organize the 75th past queens' celebration. She never missed a Lake County Rodeo.
Rhea graduated from Lakeview High School in 1958. After graduation, she married Dan VanDenBerg. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 30 years. After working in a number of positions, she finally settled into the Fire Dispatch office. She loved her dispatch work and was very loyal to the fire crews that she tracked.
Rhea was extremely proud of her grandchildren. She loved watching their sports competitions and being involved in all of their activities. She was very close to her two sisters Mickey and Barbara; they were best friends.
Rhea spent countless days working on her parents' ranch. She was a true buckaroo who loved riding horses in the mountains of Long Valley and Barnes Valley. She enjoyed moving cattle and roping at brandings. She taught all of her children and grandchildren how to ride horses.
Rhea delighted in taking pictures of others and sharing her photographs. She took many graduation and sports pictures. Several of her photos were entered in the Lake County Fair.
Rhea's passion in life was helping others. She had many loyal friends throughout her life. Many of her friends called, sent cards and flowers, sat with her, shared memories and held her hands during her final days.
Her beloved parents and a special aunt and uncle, Tiny and George Garrett preceded Rhea in death.
Rhea is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dan VanDenBerg of Lakeview; son Kevin VanDenBerg of Terrebonne; daughters and sons-in-law Vickie and Harvey Childress of Lakeview and Pam and Lee Cody of Hermiston; sisters and brothers-in-law Mickey and Caroll Moulton of Klamath Falls and Barbara and Hank Albertson of Lakeview; grandchildren Jessica and Garrett Childress, Kylie, Katlin and Makenzie Cody and Levi Van Den Berg; aunts Evelyn (Branch) Grindstaff and Joann (Garrett) Moulton; numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and her loyal dog Chipper.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, Feb.15, 2009 at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Burial followed at the Westside Cemetery.

Leo Kenneth Glinkman

Funeral services for Leo Kenneth Glinkman, 91, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Klamath Falls at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009. Luncheon to follow. Please RSVP at 541-482-0278.

Ira 'Dutch' Dutcher

Ira 'Dutch' Dutcher, 85, of Fort Rock, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 25, 1923 in Huntington Park, Calif.
He was in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was a truck driver most of his life until moving his family to Fort Rock in 1962. He tried his hand at farming, but found out it wasn't his cup of tea. So, they sold the farm and in 1969 Dutch and his daughter built the Fort Rock Store and gas station.
Dutch and his wife Betty were very involved in the development of the Fort Rock Museum. He was an excellent carpenter and did much of the renovations of the earlier buildings there.
Dutch was preceded in death by his wife Betty; son Dennis; grandson Drew.
Survivors include son Rick of Crescent; daughter Sandy of Fort Rock; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; Three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the St. Rose Church at the Museum in Fort Rock. A potluck gathering of friends will be at the Grange Hall following the memorial.
Remembrances may be made in Dutch's name to Newberry Hospice, P.O. Box 1888, 51681 Huntington Rd., LaPine 97639.

Lois 'Happy' Rogers

Lois Frances 'Happy' Rogers, 80, died at the Lake District Hospital on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from natural causes.
Happy was born to Robert and Frances (Butts) Maddock in Maddock, N. D. on May 22, 1928. She came to Lakeview from Maddock when she was seven. She grew up on the Westside and attended both Union and Vernon elementary schools and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1946.
Happy and Bill Rogers were married in Reno, Nev. on Nov. 17, 1946.
Her first job was working at the Alger Theater when she was in high school. Happy's first full time job was with the 1st National Bank of Oregon. She later owned and operated the Five Corners Store. After selling her business, she was employed by the phone company in Lakeview and retired after 20 years of employment.
Happy enjoyed making beautiful quilts, painting, most crafts and playing cards with her many friends. Nothing else could compare with the pleasure she received from her family and especially her grandchildren. She was also the consummate hostess.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; brother Robert Randall Maddock; sister Dorothy C. Davidson.
Happy is survived by son John William Rogers of Estacada; daughters and sons-in-law Connie Lee and Keith Steward of Lakeview and Susan Kaye and William Castle of Klamath Falls; brother and sister-in-law Donald C. and May Maddock of Bly; sister and brother-in-law V. Ginger and Alan Withers of Paisley; sister Phyllis Borden of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; three great -grandchildren; special cousins Mike and Sharon Patrick and Sheila and Larry Holloway of Lakeview and numerous other extended family members.
A memorial service was held at the Church Of The Open Bible in Lakeview on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Inurnment was in the Westside Cemetery.
Contributions in the memory of Happy may be made to the Westside Cemetery District, 15188 Westside Road, Lakeview 97630 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lawrence A. (Larry) McFall

Lawrence A. (Larry) McFall, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Christmas Valley.
He was born February 13, 1925 in Palo Alto, Calif. to William and Veronica.
Lawrence(Larry) lived a full life with many talents. He had been a cowboy, railroad worker, gas station owner/operator, egg rancher, and retired from Oregon State Highway Department as grader operator and an assistant supervisor for the Silver Lake Maintenance Yard.
Larry served his country During WWll; he was a mess sargeant during the occupation of Japan.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Veronica; loving wife Linda; son Tim; brother Jerry; sister Clara.
He is survived by sons Larry Jr.(Butch) and Kevin; daughters Maryann and Lorri; daughter-in-law Annie; brothers Bill and John; sisters Lucille and Marguerite; Grandkids; nieces and nephews.
Upon his request there will be no services.

Glen E. Yeager

Glen E. Yeager, 84, died in Lakeview on Monday, March 16, 2009 with his loving family and friends at this side.
Glen was born in the Beaverton Bakery Dec.10,1924 to John and Bertie (Mashborn)Yeager.
He grew up in the Columbia Gorge. He entered the US Army in l943 during WW II. He Served in England and France in the motor pool. He was proud of the fact that he had transported General Patton and his dog to the front lines on more than one occasion. He was honorably discharged in l946. Following his military service he returned to the Columbia Gorge.
He married Maxine Cormack in November of l946. He and Maxine moved to Maxine's hometown in Montana where they worked on a large cattle ranch for several years. The couple returned to Tillamook in 1958 where he worked as a sanderman in the plywood mill. He retired from Louisiana Pacific after 30 years as the head sanderman.
His wife Maxine died in 1981. Following the death of Maxine he met and married Patty Yeager in May of l982.
In 1988 Glen and Pat moved to Lakeview for lots of golf, hunting, fishing, camping~along with plenty of woodworking. He made over 30 adirondack chairs giving many of them to family and friends.
Glen belonged to the VFW, Elks and the Lakeview Golf Club. He was also a past member of the OR-CA senior golf tour where he placed third several times.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Maxine; four brothers and one sister.
Glen is survived by his wife Patty; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Nathan Williams of Myrtle Creek; Daughters Glenda Wagner of Tillamook and Tone Shannon of Lakeview; Brother and sister-in-law Donald and Lavell Yeager of Seattle, Wash; Brother Daryl Yeager of Bonneville; sister and brother-in-law Joan and Darrell Albright of Washougal; grandchildren Dawn and Chris Ritter of Roseburg, Amber and Stonie Williams of Roseburg, Brandon and Jenny Wagner of Bend, Shane and Lacy Williams of Myrtle Creek and Dane and Sharyse Williams of
Myrtle Creek; six precious great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews.
A celebration of Life Service was held at the VFW Hall in Lakeview on Saturday, March 21, 2009

Scott Mcdonald

Scott McDonald, 75, of Sweet Home died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 surrounded by family at his home after a brief but courageous battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Scott was born March 17, 1933 in Lakeview to Roll and Mabel McDonald. His father was a barber in the Lakeview/Paisley area and his mother was a registered nurse and hospital administrator. Scott grew up in Lakeview where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He graduated from Oregon State University in the Air Force ROTC program with a bachelor science degree in Business Administration in 1955. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant when he developed diabetes shortly after graduation.
He met his wife, Mary Tapp, while at OSU and the two married June 12, 1955 in Vernonia. After leaving the Air Force they settled in Lakeview where their four children were born. While in Lakeview he shared his love of the outdoors with his family. They took frequent trips to go fishing, hunting and rock hounding. He was an avid hunter, building numerous custom firearms and reloading his own ammunition. The family moved to the Willamette Valley in 1966, but he frequently returned to recreate in the Lakeview area.
His lifetime vocation was in the grocery business. He began as a box boy in a grocery store in Klamath Falls at age 18. Upon returning to Lakeview he again worked in food retail managing a store there for 10 years. After working at several stores in the Willamette Valley he and Mary bought Sweet Home Thriftway in November of 1973. He worked in his business with boundless energy and enthusiasm, along side the family, up until a few days before his death. Over the years he and the family were able to steadily grow and expand the business to many times its original size. During his 53 years in the grocery industry he earned the respect and admiration of many of his peers for his keen business skills and knowledge.
Scott and Mary were longtime members of the Sweet Home Church of Christ and later members of Riverside Christian Church. His faith was always an essential part of his public and private life. As he faced various challenges and difficulties in his life he drew great strength from his faith and trust in God.
He is survived by his wife Mary; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Jan of Sweet Home and Mike and Angela of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Fred Dodge of Sweet Home and Judy and Dennis Moore of Portland; 10 grandchildren.
Pastors Skip Stock, Ted Stock of Riverside Christian Church and Scott's son, Pastor Mike McDonald officiated the service.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Memorial gifts can be given to the American Diabetes association.
The memorial service was Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Sweet Home Mennonite Church.
