Margaret Bernice (Longmate) Wase
Aug. 25, 1918 - March 22, 2001

Margaret Bernice (Longmate) Wase of Bend died March 22 of natural causes. She was 82.

At the family's request, no services will be held.

Mrs. Wase was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Seattle.

She was a homemaker and member of the Moose Lodge of La Pine.

Mrs. Wase enjoyed oil painting, camping, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include her companion, Leonard Mallett of La Pine; one son, Joe Gates of Burns; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gates.

Memorial contributions may be made to Newberry Hospice of La Pine.

Central Pines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy (Jones) Kelley
April 25, 1952 - March 25, 2001

Peggy (Jones) Kelley of Bend died from complications of a rare liver disease Sunday at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland. She was 48.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Chapel in Bend. The service will follow at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial cemetery.

Mrs. Kelley was born April 25, 1952, in Ventura, Calif., to George and Helen Jones.

She moved to Central Oregon in 1968 and graduated from Bend High School in 1970. Mrs. Kelly attended and graduated from Western Business College in Portland.

She had been employed in Bend by St. Charles Medical Center, her father's jewelry and watch repair store, Northgate Auto Parts and Abbott Petroleum.

Mrs. Kelley enjoyed genealogy, crossword puzzles and activities with various car clubs. She particularly enjoyed the Shelby Club track day at Portland International Raceway and the High Desert Swap Meet.

Survivors include her husband, Gary, and one son, John, both of Bend; her mother, Helen Jones and one sister, Judy McGladrey, both of Hubbard; and one brother, Phillip Jones of Eugene.

She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, John Jones, and one sister, Susan Jones.

Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gary P. Schaub
April 26, 1934 - March 24, 2001

Gary P. Schaub of Bend died Saturday at his home. He was 66.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Center on 27th Street in Bend. An abbreviated recitation of the holy rosary will take place at the beginning of mass. The Rev. Brian McKenna will officiate.

Mr. Schaub was born April 26, 1934, in Los Angeles, to Augustus and Florence (Monazi) Schaub. He grew up and attended school there.

He also attended Christian Brothers Seminary in Napa, Calif., until he was drafted into the Army in 1957.

He served until being honorably discharged at the rank of private first class in 1959, having received the marksman service medal.

He married Ruth Gardner on June 21, 1959, in Redondo Beach, Calif.

Following his military service, he went to work as a TV repairman and had other electronics-related jobs, including at Sears, where he retired after 27 years of employment.

Mr. Schaub was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a past grand knight of the third degree and past faithful navigator. He also was a past president of the Electronics Association of Central Oregon and a past president of the Deschutes Dusters - Good Sam Club.

He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and music.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Bend; one daughter, Linda of Bend; three sons, Brian and Darian, both of Bend, and Neal of Corvallis; one brother, Gale of Brisbane, Australia; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund, 2450 NE 27th Street, Bend.

Raymond Dale Ross
July 15, 1922 - March 23, 2001

Raymond Dale Ross of Bend died Friday of natural causes. He was 78.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home in Bend. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood cemetery.

Mr. Ross was born July 15, 1922, in Plentywood, Mont. He came to Bend when he was two years old. He attended Bend schools.

He served in the Army from 1942-1945 during World War II as a technician, 3rd grade. He received an Honorable Discharge. Awards he received for his service include the American Theatre Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Ross worked for the Oregon State Highway Department prior to joining the Army. After military service he worked at Brooks-Scanlon (Diamond International) until retirement. He enjoyed mechanics and woodworking. He also enjoyed his boat, traveling and salmon fishing.

Survivors include his loving companion, Doris Thompson of Bend; and brother, Fred of Sterling, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice in 1994, son, Dale, parents and a sister, Deloris Dickerson Shoults.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or to the charity of one's choice.

Donna Lee Beebe
Aug. 17, 1943 - Feb. 20, 2001

Donna Lee Beebe of Queensbury, N.Y., died Feb. 20 of natural causes in her home. She was 57.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Nazarene Church at 63 SW 'D' Street in Madras. A reception will follow.

Ms. Beebe was born Aug. 17, 1943, in Canandaqua, N.Y., to Paul and Iva Beebe.

She trained at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, N.Y., where she graduated as a licensed practical nurse and later graduated from Adirondack Community College as a registered nurse.

Ms. Beebe was employed at Glens Falls Hospitals for 36 years, working in various departments.

She was involved in aspects of the Native American culture because of her Seneca heritage and was a member of the Good Medicine Society and The Calico Dancers. She was also an adopted member of the Cherokee tribe.

She enjoyed animals and the outdoors.

Survivors include her parents, Paul and Iva Beebe of Madras; and sister, Jeanne Apgar of Madras.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy.

Leona Esther (Schroeder) Manning
March 29, 1916 - March 23, 2001

Leone Esther (Schroeder) Manning of Bend died of natural causes Friday. She was 84.

The memorial will be held at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Center, 2450 NE 27th Street.

Mrs. Manning was born March 29, 1916, in Sheboygan, Wis.

She married Gerald Manning on Sept. 18, 1942. They moved to Bend in 1981. He died Jan. 10.

Mrs. Manning was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling and golfing. Her hobbies included golf, aqua aerobics, gardening and crotcheting.

She was affiliated with St. Francis Catholic Church and was a member of Bend Golf and Country Club since 1982.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Leberman of Orinda, Calif., and Gale of Bend; one son, Lawrence of Palo Alto, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Oregon Hospice of Bend.

Deschutes Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kathryn 'Katy' (Evans) Farnsworth
Aug. 23, 1928 - March 24, 2001

Kathryn 'Katy' (Evans) Farnsworth of Bend died of natural causes Saturday. She was 72.

The memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home. Private scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Farnsworth was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Bend.

She married Paul Farnsworth in October of 1976 in Reno.

Mrs. Farnsworth worked as a bookkeeper for many years.

She was affiliated with Bend Golf and Country Club, Family Kitchen at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and bridge clubs.

Mrs. Farnsworth enjoyed golf, animals and her two dogs.

Survivors include her husband of Bend; two daughters, Nicollette Barone of Glendale, Calif., and Cherie Warrick of Bend; one brother, Lloyd Evans of Bend; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Bend-LaPine.
