Cora Elizabeth (Rands) Lembach
Feb. 22, 1903 - May 12, 2001

Cora Elizabeth (Rands) Lembach of Madras died Saturday of natural causes at Madison House Assisted Living Center. She was 98.

A memorial service was held at United Methodist Church in Madras.

Mrs. Lembach was born Feb. 22, 1903, in Avon, S.D., to Albert and Letitia (Arnsberger) Rands. She lived in Nebraska and Idaho as a child. The family moved to Portland in 1917 where she attended Girl's Polytechnic School and Franklin High School. The family then moved to Madras in 1919, and then to Oak Grove.

She worked picking seed in the Steele pansy fields in Oak Grove and later worked for a caterer in Portland.

She married Arthur Lembach on April 24, 1930, in Oak Grove. He died in 1979.

They first lived in Portland and then moved to Madras in 1948.

Mrs. Lembach was a past member of Mount Tabor Methodist Church. She was also an active member of Madras Garden Club, United Methodist Church and the Senior Center in Madras.

Survivors include her daughter, Dixie Busch of Madras, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church in Madras or to Mountain View Hospice.

Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Lewis Everett
Jan. 11, 1911 - May 22, 2001

Vernon Lewis Everett of Bend died of natural causes Tuesday. He was 90.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Bend.

Mr. Everett was born Jan. 11, 1911, in Prineville. He married Berniece Larson on March 6, 1938, in Vancouver, Wash.

They moved to Bend in 1942.

Mr. Everett worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 19 years and at Lelco Inc. for 30 years.

He attended First Lutheran Church and was a 50-year member of the Sons of Norway, where he had served 12 years as president.

He also was active for many years in the Western Pine Association.

Mr. Everett was an outdoorsman, wood carver and gardener who enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock collecting and bottle collecting. He also remade and refurbished old furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Bend; one brother, Ernest of Oregon; and one sister, Kaleen Beall of Portland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, the Humane Society or to Central Oregon Hospice.

William 'Bowdy' Blankenship
Feb. 12, 1974 - May 16, 2001

William 'Bowdy' Blankenship of Bend died May 16. He was 27.

The memorial service will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Park.

Mr. Blank-enship was born Feb. 12, 1974, in Portland. He moved to Mount Hood at age 4 after his biological father died. He lived and went to school there for five years. He then moved to Astoria at age 9, where he attended Lewis and Clark Elementary School through sixth grade. His family then moved to Bend and he went to Pilot Butte Middle School and Mountain View High School, where he played football and soccer.

He was a carpenter who was interested in masonry design and building. He also built fireplaces and walls.

Mr. Blankenship enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and rock climbing. He enjoyed drawing and painting using charcoal, pen and ink, pencil, chalk, and water-based and oil-based paints. He also enjoyed science, diverse music and art.

Survivors include his parents, Nancy and Ron Gall, both of Bend; one stepbrother, Michael Gall of Watsonville, Calif.; two stepsisters, Tabitha Lovell of the Portland area and Amy Gall of Lake Oswego; and his companion, Christene Hert of Bend.

He was preceded in death by his biological father.

Syble Maud (Combs) Williams McDill
Sept. 30, 1917 - May 21, 2001

Syble Maud (Combs) Williams McDill of Redmond died of natural causes Monday. She was 83.

Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Autumn Funerals in Redmond. The funeral will be held at noon Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Redmond, with a viewing held from 11 a.m. to noon at the church. Burial will follow at Pioneer cemetery in Terrebonne.

Mrs. McDill was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Como, Texas, to Willis and Claudia (Castle) Combs.

She married Abner Williams in 1943. He died in 1969. She then married Jack McDill in 1992, in Redmond. He died in 1994.

Mrs. McDill was the sixth employee hired by See's Candy Co. She was also employed as a card dealer at the Mapes Hotel in Reno., Nev. Her last occupation was as head of housekeeping for Holiday Inn.

She had been a resident of Redmond for the past 15 years.

Mrs. McDill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Redmond.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and was an avid bell collector.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Williams of Redmond; two brothers, Jack Combs of Dallas, Texas, and Bruce Combs of Corpus Christi, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Redmond, Sisters & Grant County, 732 SW 23rd, Redmond 97756.

Velma LaVerne (Keeton) Monroe
Sept. 23, 1917 - May 20, 2001

Velma LaVerne (Keeton) Monroe of Prineville died Sunday. She was 83.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. Pastor Craig Smarts will officiate.

Mrs. Monroe was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Mitchell, to Grover and Agnes (Tate) Keeton. She attended the Old Howard School and graduated from Crook County High School in 1935.

She was a homemaker until 1962, when her first husband, Paul Ammons, died.

She then attended Central Oregon Community College in 1966 and 1967, where she obtained her licensed practical nurse degree. She worked at the Ochoco Nursing Home for several years. She then worked for the Madras Nursing Home until her retirement. She worked at The Neat Repeat for nine years after retiring.

Mrs. Monroe was a member of First Baptist Church in Prineville since 1995. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She enjoyed gardening, her lodge and being with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Willard Ammons of Greenville, S.C., Ronald Ammons of Portland and Douglas Ammons of Powell Butte; one daughter, Sandra Ammons of Rock Springs, Wyo.; one sister, Elvamae Lewis of La Grande; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pioneer Memorial Hospice.

Georgia Lavona (Kisor) Danielson
May 31, 1918 - May 10, 2001

Georgia Lavona (Kisor) Danielson of White Salmon, Wash., died May 10 at her daughter's home. She was 82.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Eugene. Interment was at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.

Mrs. Danielson was born May 31, 1918, in Portland, to William and Edna (Harding) Kisor. She attended Beech Elementary School and Ockley Green Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1936. That year, she also was the runner-up Rose Festival princess.

She began working for JCPenney at age 18 and worked for the company off and on until her retirement in 1987.

She married Paul Danielson on April 30, 1945. He died in 1980.

They lived in Santa Barbara, Calif., Salem, Albany, Portland and Bend. In 1959 they moved to Eugene, where she remained until moving to White Salmon 15 months ago.

Mrs. Danielson was a member of North Baptist Church in Portland and Eastern Star in Portland. She also was a member of First Baptist Church in Eugene.

She enjoyed bowling, gardening, golfing and skiing. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, sewing and cooking.

Survivors include four daughters, Susan Daulton of Walterville, Carole Ann Block of White Salmon, Wash., Marylou Halupa of Springfield and Becky Siemieniec of Portland; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Leonard Kisor, and one sister, Ardyth Reynolds.

Deborah L. (Collins) Keller
Dec. 15, 1950 - May 21, 2001

Deborah L. (Collins) Keller of Portland died Monday at her home. She was 50.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home in Bend. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Chapel. Interment will follow at Deschutes Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Keller was born Dec. 15, 1950, in Bend.

She married William 'Duffy' Keller on Aug. 24, 1994, in Redmond. He died in 2000.

Mrs. Keller worked at Bend Mill Works for 10 years. She moved to Portland and went to work in highway construction for many years.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, and the time spent at Detroit Lake with her husband.

She is survived by two sons, Tye Rule of Salem and Justin Rule of Bend; one sister, Karen Unverzagt of Bend; three brothers, Michael Collins of Redmond, Gregg of Athena and Jeff of Spokane, Wash.; and her father, Vernon Collins, and stepmother, Jerri, both of Athena.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Karen Unverzagt, 61570 Rockaway Terrace, Bend 97702.
