Bill Robert Johnson
Aug. 12, 1926 - Nov. 30, 2002

Bill Robert Johnson of Prineville died Saturday. He was 76.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon today at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Pine to Ralph and Blanche (Benson) Johnson. He graduated from Crook County High School. He attended Barber College in Portland. He married Mary Putnam on Sept. 5, 1960, in Reno, Nev.

He served in the Army as a paratrooper during World War II.

Mr. Johnson was a barber in Prineville, Yuma, Ariz., and Brookings. He later returned to Prineville and worked at various sawmills until his retirement.

He was affiliated with the Sons of American Legion Squadron 29, Eagles Lodge 2555, Moose Lodge 323 and the 40 and 8 Club.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Leon of Applegate, Calif.; two daughters, Eunice Doolittle of Prineville and Alicia Kaschalk of Scott Valley, Calif.; one sister, Francis Moore of Post; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pioneer Memorial Hospice, 1201 NE Elm St., Prineville 97754.

Whispering Pines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harley Mac' McBride
April 15, 1938 - Nov. 28, 2002

Harley "Mac" McBride of Sandy died Thursday. He was 64.

A service was held.

Mr. McBride was born April 15, 1938, in San Pedro, Calif., to Tony and Mary McBride. He married Shirley Black in September 1986 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

He served in the Army for two years and was honorably discharged.

Mr. McBride worked at Southern California Edison for 25 years. He retired in 1988. He moved to Damascus in 1989 and opened a Midas Auto Service Experts store in Portland, and later, another Midas store in Bend.

He moved to Sandy in 1991.

Mr. McBride enjoyed restoring his 1955 Ford truck. He loved his dogs and cat.

Survivors include his wife of Sandy; one son, Steve of Sandy; two daughters, Ellen Duerschmidt of Madison, Wis., and Laura Robello of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; parents John and Mary Weaver of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Humane Society or Parkinsons Research.

Sandy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys 'T' Tubbs Taylor
Jan. 30, 1920 - Feb. 3, 2003

Gladys "T" Tubbs Taylor of Bend died Monday of natural causes. She was 83.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Taylor was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Trenton, Neb., to Albert and Amanda Blank. She married Clarence Tubbs in 1941 in Long Beach, Calif.

She was a homemaker and active in civic life in Glendora, Calif.

Mrs. Taylor enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling. She also enjoyed helping to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Survivors include her two daughters, Clair Robley of West Linn and Katie Rixe of Bend; two sisters, Esther Counts and Marjorie Johnston both of Pacific City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and a sister.

Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Jim' Wilburn Borden
May 10, 1938 - Feb. 1, 2003

James "Jim" Wilburn Borden of Sweet Home died Saturday. He was 64.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Sweet Home Vets Club.

Mr. Borden was born May 10, 1938, in Binger, Okla., to Ralph and Effie (MacElrod) Borden. He married Janice Meichtry in December 1981 in Nocona, Texas.

He was a contract drywall hanger for Frank Borden in Redmond.

Mr. Borden was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially on the Snake River.

Survivors include his wife of Sweet Home; two sons, Larry and Michael, both of St. Jo, Texas; two sisters, Lauri Roles of Port Richey, Fla., and Deena Books of Nocona, Texas; his mother of Sweet Home; two brothers, Ralph of St. Jo, Texas and David of Gainesville, Texas; three sisters, Avis Kittson of Sweet Home, Betty Kneeland of Scotts Mills and Judy Frymire of Salem; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, his father and a sister.

The Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel in Sweet Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ralph 'Bud' T. Cunningham
May 31, 1930 - Feb. 3, 2003

Ralph "Bud" T. Cunningham of Prineville died Monday of natural causes. He was 72.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 10 at Willamette National cemetery.

Mr. Cunningham was born May 31, 1930, in Connellsville, Pa., to Harry and Mary (Cramer) Cunningham. He graduated from high school in 1948. He married Eileen Klause in 1950.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Cunningham was an engine man stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, Tounge Point and the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

Mr. Cunningham worked for the Port of Portland from 1959 to 1963. He worked for the Multnomah County Sheriffs Department from 1964 until he retired as sergeant in 1985. He married Linda Barret on Feb. 14, 1978, in Portland.

He moved to Prineville in 1990.

Mr. Cunningham was affiliated with Sandy Conservative Baptist Church.

He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, especially bird hunting. He liked to fish on the Deschutes River and tie flies. He enjoyed camping, gardening and training German shorthair dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Prineville; two sons, Jeff of Corbett and Greg of Portland; one stepson, Rob of Sandy; one stepdaughter, Kristi Ortoli of Laguna Nigel, Calif.; two brothers, James and Harry, both of Normalville, Pa.; six sisters, Louella Tissue and Mary Lou Mancini, both of Connellsville, Pa., Juanita Craig of Normalville and Carol Ann Burkholder, Diane Works and Eilleen Shearer, all of Mill Run, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, a son, his parents and a grandchild.

Prineville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rocklin 'Rocky' James Lathim
March 2, 1954 - Jan. 15, 2003

Rocklin "Rocky" James Lathim of Christmas Valley died Jan. 15. He was 48.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Post 45 in La Pine. A potluck will follow.

Mr. Lathim was born March 2, 1954, in Modesto, Calif., to Dale and Jesse (Reeves) Lathim. He was adopted by his grandparents in 1964 and grew up in Boise, Idaho.

He served in the Army from 1973 to 1975. He rejoined the Army in 1976 and was honorably discharged in 1977 as a corporal. He was a decorated veteran and will be buried with full honors in the national cemetery.

Mr. Lathim was a welder and a logger. He also worked on ZX Ranch, owned a hog farm and cut firewood.

He enjoyed the outdoors and Harley Davidson and BMW motorcycles.

Survivors include his two nephews, Jason and Zane; and two nieces, Cami and Kimberly.

Eileen Carol (Thomason) Bressler
June 7, 1942 - Feb. 2, 2003

Eileen Carol (Thomason) Bressler of Bend died Sunday of natural causes she 60.

No service will be held.

Mrs. Bressler was born June 7, 1942, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Ralph and Mildred (Martel) Thomason. She graduated from high school in Salem. She married Bruce Bressler on Jan. 29, 1961.

She was a homemaker. She lived in Houston for 20 years before moving to Bend 14 years ago.

Mrs. Bressler was affiliated with Berachah Church in Houston.

She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, spending time with her family and studying the bible.

Survivors include her husband of Bend; a son, Randy Bressler of Houston; a daughter, Angela Garrett of Medford; a half-brother, Ralph Thomason Jr.; and three grandchildren.

Jeannine Faye Wilkins
April 2, 1948 - Feb. 2, 2003

Jeannine Faye Wilkins of Crooked River Ranch died Sunday of natural causes. She was 54.

A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Amazing Grace Bible Fellowship in Redmond. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Wilkins was born April 2, 1948, in Lottin, Okla., to Marvin and Dora Pruitt.

She was a purchasing agent for Certified Grocers of California.

Mrs. Wilkins was a fan of the L.A. Lakers. She also enjoyed going to the beach.

Survivors include her son Clinton Cooper of Crooked River Ranch; one daughter, Tammy Rhea of Redmond; one brother, Terry Pruitt of Washington; and two sisters, Marva Sue Drew of Whittier, Calif., and Ann Pruitt of Estacada; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Deschutes Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
