Toporek
Frederick "Fred" Toporek, 68, of Woodburn died June 29, 2002.
Born Nov. 15, 1933, in Lockawanna, N.Y., he lived in Woodburn since 1970. He served with the National Guard during the 1950s, then worked as a machinist until retiring in 1997. After retiring, he worked with Dial-A-Ride for several years. He also worked as a handyman.
His interests included dogs, gardening and woodworking.
Survivors include his sons, David Toporek of Salem and Dan Toporek of Portland; daughters, Barb Roush of McMinnville and Sue Howard of Salem; sisters, Margie Yaccbucci of Statesville, N.C. and Connie Murphy of Glendora, Calif.; brother, Walt Toporek of Alta Loma, Calif.; and one grandchild.
At his request, no services will be held.
Arrangements were by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon Ramson Funeral Directors in Salem.
Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Willamette Valley or Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice.

Fairchild
Judy Darlene Fairchild, 50, of Woodburn died June 28, 2002.
Born Feb. 4, 1952, in Sacramento, Calif., she was a production laborer for Williams Air Control for 20 years.
Her interests included quilting and gardening.
She married Jerry Fairchild Sept. 9, 1972, in Sacramento.
Survivors include her husband; parents, Howard and Jewell Elliott of Sacramento; daughters, Karen Whitehurst of Woodburn and Jaime Fairchild of Tualatin; brothers, Rodger and Howard Elliott, both of Sacramento; and one grandchild.
Private services were held.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Remembrances can sent the Oregon Humane Society, PO Box 13005, Salem, OR, 97309-1005.

O'Rourke
Aileen L. O'Rourke, 98, of Woodburn died July 16, 2002.
Born in St. Joseph, Mo., she was a homemaker. She lived in San Bernadino and Los Angeles before moving to Woodburn nine years ago. She was a member of the Catholic Church and of the Catholic Daughters.
She married James E. O'Rourke Oct. 5, 1930, in St. Joseph, Mo.; he died in 1977.
Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Krieber of Anchorage, Alaska, Molly Wall of Albuquerque, N.M., Maureen O'Rourke of Woodburn and Kitty O'Rourke of Napa, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were private.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to the Willamette Hospice in Salem.

Ornelas
Trinidad E. Ornelas, 71, of Woodburn died July 16, 2002.
Born Sept. 9, 1930, in Sterling, Colo., he worked as a farm laborer in North Dakota, Texas, Minnesota, Washington and Woodburn for 30 years. He worked for Murphy Plywood Corp., in Milwaukie for 15 years, before retiring. He started a business, Maria's Lawn Care, in Woodburn. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He married Maria Veliz in Woodburn.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Porforio, Mike, Felix and Sam, all of Woodburn and Angela Roberts of Hubbard; sister, Ignacia Ornelas of Juanajuato, Mexico; and 13 grandchildren.
Mass was celebrated July 19 in St. Luke's Catholic Church, Woodburn. Interment was in St. Luke's cemetery, Woodburn.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to St. Luke's Catholic Church.

Bellinger
Donald R. Bellinger, 79, of Woodburn died July 17, 2002.
Born March 23, 1923, in Lebanon, he was a long-haul truck driver for Franz Bakery and Blitz Weinhard. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II and served as a medical corpsman. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
His interests included golf, hunting, traveling and woodworking.
He married Nancy Steckler in 1974, in Aurora.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Larry and John Bellinger and Jeffrey Wright; daughters, Toni Prosser, Diane Azar and De Ann Steele; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 20 in Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Deterville
Elisabeth Deterville, 75, of Woodburn died July 16, 2002.
Born March 9, 1927, in Brandenburg in Tirol, Austria, she moved to Wisconsin in June of 1947. She lived in San Diego, Los Angeles and Klamath Falls before moving to Woodburn.
Her interests included cooking, reading and gardening. She was a member of the St. Luke's Catholic Church, Woodburn.
She married Roche Deterville Aug. 9, 1947.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Renee Haladay of Lake Oswego and Diane Silva of La Crosse, Wisc.; son, Steven Haladay of Riverside, Calif.; sister, Hilde Gabel of Naperville, Ill.; brothers, Arthur Schneidinger of Austria and Frank Schneidinger of Illinois; 11 grandchildren.
Services were held July 18 in St Mary's Catholic Church, Mount Angel.
Interment was in Calvary cemetery, Mount Angel.
Arrangements were by Unger Funeral Chapel, Mount Angel.

Skovborg
Lawrence N. Skovborg, 90, of Woodburn died July 13, 2002.
Born Dec. 21, 1911, in Portland, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Post Office superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion and of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He married Lila Ashland; she died in 1973. He later married Eleanor Blomberg.
Survivors include his wife; son, Lawrance "Lanny" Skovborg of Bend; daughter, Debra Menarchik of Bryan, Texas; step-children, Roger Blomberg, Shannon Lynn, Karen Henkes and Mary Schroeder; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 22 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Woodburn. Interment was in Willamette National cemetery, Portland.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Woodburn.

Harguess
Oather L. Harguess, 87, of Salem died July 19, 2002.
Born Sept. 1, 1914, he retired from Willamette University.
He married Floma R. Landers Sept. 28, 1940, in Deport, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Floma of Salem; sons, Leonard E. of Dallas, Texas and Jerry W. of Salem; sisters, Novella Kirkley of Ft. Worth, Texas, Hazel Greenway of Muse, Okla., Ethel Marvel of McDade, Texas; and three grandchildren, Melissa, Adrian and Crystal. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alvis and Morris, and a sister, Virgie Hevron.
Services were held July 23 at Capital Baptist Church. Interment was in City View cemetery.
Arrangements were by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem.

Paniagua
Rufino Lopez Paniagua, 26, of Gervais died July 17, 2002 as a result of a auto accident.
Born Aug. 26, 1975, in Rincon Grande Estado De Mexico, he painted houses. He moved to Gervais seven years ago. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents, Guillermo and Sirila of Mexico; brothers, Zenon and Santiago, both of Woodburn and Heriberto, Rafael, and Reimundo Paniagua; sisters, Margarita, Isabel and Fidelina Parniagua, all of Mexico.
Services were held in Las Juantas, Atlaya, Mexico.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Garcia
Agustino Ruiz Garcia, 31, of Woodburn died July 17, 2002, as a result of an auto accident.
Born Aug. 18, 1970, in La Union Saintaines, Zaragoza, Nochixtlan, Mexico, he worked as a dishwasher at Red Robin Restaurant in Wilsonville. He lived in Mexico before moving to Woodburn two years ago. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Isabel of Mexico; sons, Victor Hugo Ruiz and Enrique Garcia, both of Mexico; brothers, Felix and Simon Garcia, both of Mexico, Antonio and Alfonso Garcia, both of Woodburn; sisters, Gloria, Guadalupe and Amelia, all of Mexico, Valeria and Alicia, both of Woodburn; father, Tomas of Mexico.
Services were held in San Pablo Huitzo, Oaxaca, Mexico. Interment was in San Pablo Huitzo cemetery, San Pablo, Mexico.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
