Ditchen
Frank Phillip Ditchen, 90, of Salem died Jan. 10, 2003.
Born March 11, 1912, in Mount Angel, he was a farmer all his life. He was involved with the Christian Singles Groups FOCAS and SOLOS.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine; daughters, Donna Siems of Silverton, Carolyn Emmert of High Point, N.C., Diane Crisell of Woodburn, Ruth Morgan of Salem; sister, Elizabeth deVries; brothers, Joe and Reuben Ditchen; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 18 in People's Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. in Salem.
Interment will be in Bethany cemetery in Silverton.
Arrangements are by Howell Edwards Doerksen with Rigdon Ransom, Salem.
Contributions may be made to Union Gospel Mission or Peoples Church.

Hill
Elizabeth "Betty" L. Hill, 75, of Woodburn died Jan 11, 2003.
Born Feb. 4, 1927, in Bronton, Mo., she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Woodburn Senior Estates Golf and Country Club and was secretary of the Ladies Golf Club. She was also a member of the senior bowling league in Woodburn.
Her interests included playing golf, bowling, crafts and flying airplanes.
She married V.L. Hill in 1945; he died in 1993.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Genello of Camas, Wash., Linda Kennedy of San Maria, Calif.; brother, George Pollock of Gallop, N.M.; companion, Don Mixell of Woodburn; five grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were private. Interment was in Willamette National cemetery, Portland.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Moehnke
Alan Harry Moehnke, 58, of Clackamas County died Jan. 11, 2003.
Born Dec. 21, 1944, in Oregon City, he was a truck driver for the timber industry. He lived his entire life in West Linn, Wilsonville and Estacada. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
His interests included outdoor activities, hunting, reading, antiques and history.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Moehnke of Woodburn; daughter, Tawnya Chose; son, Mathew Moehnke of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Weslyn Moehnke of Yacolt, Wash., and Michael Moehnke of Oregon City; sisters, Dorothy Tomlin of Sandy, Sharon Schmidt of Woodburn and Melissa Ainsworth of Canby; and eight grandchildren.
Services will begin 2 p.m. Jan. 17 in Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be in Mt. View Mausoleum, Oregon City.

Ostergaard
Jerry Ostergaard, 67, of Woodburn died March 24, 2003 at his home of a rare form of non-smokers lung cancer.
He was born July 8, 1935 in Santa Paula, Calif.
He married Nancy Ricks June 4, 1960. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1960 after serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served every Saturday for many years in the Portland Temple of the church. Until passing away, he taught 9-year-olds every Sunday.
He and his family moved to Woodburn in 1970 from California. He would teach biology 24 more years at Woodburn Middle School and French Prairie Middle School, teaching students how to recite all the bones in their bodies, as well as learn a love for live mice through hands-on biology.
He ran a successful landscape maintenance business for 28 years and built 23 home subdivisions during his retirement.
He enjoyed raising pigeons as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Woodburn; children, Rebecca Siewert of Keizer, Dwight Ostergaard of Portland, Nanette Shepherd of Woodburn, Marylynn Ostergaard of Portland, and Alison Ostergaard of New York, N.Y.; sisters, Marie Gaisford and Maretta Hatton, both of Utah; and five grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at 4:30 p.m. March 27 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1000 Country Club Rd., Woodburn.
Memorials may be sent to Belle Passi cemetery's bench fund.

Massey
John Ray Massey, 60, of Woodburn died March 17, 2003.
Born Feb. 3, 1943, in Portland, he graduated from Canby High School in 1961. Throughout high school he was very active in track and field, and held the school record for many years, running the fastest mile. He was also involved in FFA and Demolay. He worked at the Canby Farm Store for three years. He was employed at Wilsonville Concrete Products for 40 years driving cement trucks and was batch plant operator for several years. He lived in Hood River and Canby before moving to Woodburn. He was a member of the Zoar Lutheran Church and Woodburn Elks Lodge No 2637.
He married Nancy Stricker in 1963. He later married Karen Hackett in 1991.
Survivors include her wife; daughters, Karen Henry of Oregon City and Anne Massey of Rockaway Beach; son, David Massey of Canby; stepsons, Chris Aardappel of Canby and Scott Aardappel and Cody Halsey, both of Portland; sister, Marie Allphin of Hubbard and Phillip Massey of Kalama, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. March 22 in Zoar Lutheran Church in Canby.
Private interment will be in Smyrna cemetery.
Arrangements are by Canby Funeral Chapel, Canby.
Contributions may be made to the Humane Society and the Loves and Fishes program.

Andreas
Leo A. Andreas, 76, of Gervais died March 17, 2003.
Born May 15, 1926, in Harrah, Wash., he grew up in Gervais and walked greyhound dogs at Portland Meadows. He worked in the shipyards and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the Marion County Highway Department for 37 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Parish.
His interests included spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and golf.
He married Alma Keene July 23, 1947, in St. Louis; she died in 1986; He married Rose Marie Ringnalda March 21, 1992, in Woodburn.
Survivors include his wife; children, Mary and Sam Grassman, Rodney and Laurie Andreas, Cheri and Paul Wulf, Ron and Trish Ringnalda, Randy and Joan Ringnalda; five sisters; four brothers; and 14 grandchildren.
Mass was celebrated March 20 in St. Louis Catholic Church, Gervais. Interment was in St. Lukes cemetery, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.

Pierce
Theresa Wilma Pierce, 97, of Woodburn died Feb. 24, 2003.
Born Oct. 31, 1905, in Clinton, Mo., she moved to Woodburn in the early 1960s, where she owned and operated the Plaza Motel, until selling in 1968.
She married Karl E. Pierce April 10, 1936, in San Luis Obispo, Calif.; he died in 1968.
Services were held March 21 in Belle Passi cemetery, Woodburn.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Allison
Hugh M. Allison, 83, of Hubbard died March 17, 2003.
Born March 12, 1920, in Butler, Mo., he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed, worked for the railroad and then for Federal Mogul Company, in the bearing factory for 19 years before retiring in 1985. He moved to Hubbard in 2001. He was a member of the Old Bedford Christian Church and was an active church member.
He married Doris Melvin March 29, 1947, in Old Bedford, Ill.; she died in 1998.
Survivors include his daughters, Jeanine Musik of Brookfield, Ill., Jennifer Link of Hubbard; sister, Mary J. Roberts of DeKalb, Ill., one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Stronghurst, Illinois.
Interment was in Stronghurst cemetery, Stronghurst.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to the Hubbard Fire Department, in Hubbard.

Lindholm
Florence Lindholm, 86, of Woodburn died March 14, 2003.
No services will be held at this time.

Gasser
Raymond George Gasser, 88, of Woodburn died March 21, 2003.
Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Hutchins, Wisc., he lived in Woodburn for the last 11 years.
He married Vera Henke July 12, 1941, in Mattoon, Wisc.; she died in January.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Bush of Coos Bay.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. March 27, in Hope Lutheran Church, Woodburn. Private interment will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, Grants Pass.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
