Gullickson
Florence Gullickson, 91, of Woodburn died March 22, 2003.
Born Sept. 25, 1911, in Wolford, N.D., she graduated from Wolford High School. She lived in Minnesota and Niagra Falls before moving to Woodburn in 1977. She was a homemaker. She was a member of hte Woodburn Senior Estates Golf and Country Club. She was also a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She married Herbert Gullickson Dec. 8, 1938, in Peterson, Minn.; he died in 2002.
Survivors include her daughter, Laurel Nelson of Kirkland, Wash.; sons, Bernard of Woodburn, Gary of Bellevue, Wash., Herbert Jr., of Renton, Wash.; sisters; Hildegard "Pills" Johnston of Woodburn, Lydia Hennen of Woodburn; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. March 28 in Willamette National cemetery, Portland. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. March 29 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Hanauska
Victor Hanauska, 75, of Woodburn died April 21, 2003.
Born May 7, 1927, in Woodburn, he attended school in Woodburn. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed market produce, then onions and filberts for the last 40 years. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
His interests included farming, fishing and hunting.
He married Shirley Taraba Oct. 10, 1951, in Woodburn; she preceded him in death in 1994.
Survivors include his sons, John and Walter, both of Molalla; daughter, Bernadine Sprauer of Woodburn; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass was celebrated April 25 in St. Luke Catholic Church, Woodburn. Vault entombment was in St. Luke Catholic cemetery, Woodburn.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Larsen
J. Jack E. Larsen, 73, of Woodburn died April 23, 2003.
Born March 17, 1930, in Portland, he was a graduate of Cleveland High School in Portland. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an ink blender for Mail Well Envelopes from 1950 until retiring in 1990. He lived in Portland and Milwaukie before moving Woodburn in 1991. He was a member of the Woodburn Senior Estates Golf and Country Club, the Milwaukie Elks BPOE No. 2032, where he was past exaulted ruler.
His interests included traveling, sports and gardening.
He married Jacqueline Garrett May 22, 1953, in Portland.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Steven Larsen of Vancouver, Wash., Kenneth Larsen of Vashon Island, Wash., Jay Larsen of Tigard; sister, Evonne Shields of Portland; and two grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. April 30 in Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Carpenter
Richard Carpenter, 70, of Woodburn died April 23, 2003.
Born June 4, 1932, in Pacific Grove, Calif., he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam war. He earned his master's degree from Portland State University in 1975. He was a health teacher for French Prairie Middle School in Woodburn for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Woodburn.
His interests included sailing, boats, the outdoors, camping and his dogs.
He married Mary Helen Preston July 29, 2000, in Pacific Grove.
Survivors include his wife; son, Rick Carpenter of Portland; daughter, Pam Brawn of Portland; stepdaughters, Matie Cornett of Watsonville, Calif., and Tess Binion of Alameda, Calif.; stepsons, Mike and Martin Nicholls, both of Watsonville; sisters, Ann Moore of Newton, Conn., Judy Paljetak and Becky Hoffman, both of Watsonville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. May 2, in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

May
Gladys Marie May, 76, of Woodburn died April 26, 2003.
Born July 2, 1926, in Scio, she was raised in Mt. Angel and graduated from Mt. Angel High School.
She owned and operated May Furniture Store in Woodburn, and was also a homemaker. She attended Marylhurst in Portland.
Survivors include her husband, Al; daughter, Cindy May; sons, Greg, Brian and Bruce May; sister Louise Boschler; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass was celebrated April 29 in St. Mary's Church, in Mt. Angel.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Owings
Edward G. "Eddie" Owings, 83, of Hubbard died Aug. 29, 2003 in Mt. Angel.
Born Aug. 30, 1919 in Hubbard, he grew up and attended school there. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. He was wounded in action on Feb. 23, 1945 in Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a past commander of the VFW Post in Hubbard.
He was employed in sawmills for 40 years and also had a farm east of Hubbard. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his son, Dale, of Livonia, Mich.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth in 1996, brothers John (1919), Artie (1993), and Harold (2003), and a sister, Florence Ziegenbein, in 2002.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 2 and 3 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn. Private entombment will be at Belle Passi Mausoleum, Woodburn.

Labunskaya
Anastasiay Labunskaya, 80, of Woodburn, died Oct. 27, 2003.
Born Dec. 29, 1922 in Russia, she later married Aleksey Labunskeiy in 1948 in Russia.
She attended high school and business college in Russia and worked for a financial institution.
They moved to Woodburn from the Ukraine 12 years ago.
She was a member of the Russian Pentacostal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Aleksey; sons, Aleksey of Woodburn, Valtien of New York, Walter of Woodburn; daughters, Ludmila of Ukraine, Vera Firsova of Salem; sister, Tatiyana of Petersburg, Russia; 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 27 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn. Interment followed at Belle Passi cemetery.

Catts
Vernon C. Catts, 84, of Mt. Angel, died Oct. 27, 2003.
Born Aug. 29, 1919 in Portland, he would later marry Charlotte Olleman Oct. 16, 1942 in Chicago.
He was a sales representative for Campbell Soups for 32 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Wasington, D.C. doing map making.
He grew up in St. Paul and was a lifelong resident of the Portland area. He graduated from Oregon State University and was an active church member.
He enjoyed traveling in his RV and served as a park host for the State of Oregon Park Service.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Sharon Hamilton of Tulsa, Okla., Lois Catts of Yakima, Wash., Ester Catts of Portland, and Naomi Catts-Tucker of Aurora; sons, David Catts of Harrisville, Mo., Steven Catts of St. Paul; nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel. Private burial service will be held at Willamette National cemetery.

Gonzales
Leonardo T. Gonzales, 66, of Woodburn, died Oct. 27, 2003.
Born Nov. 6, 1935 in Armadillo de Los Infante San Luis Potosi, Mexico, he moved to Texas as a 6-year-old. He then moved to Woodburn from Texas in 1955.
He worked as a farm laborer and bar tender for El Acapulco, then worked as a production worker for Birdseye. He had also worked at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville for the maintenance department for 13 years.
He married Raquel Zarate Sept. 9, 1962 in Woodburn.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, playing poker and bingo. He was a member of the Woodburn Jaycees and the Latin America Club. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and helped make book covers for the schools.
He is survived by his wife, Raquel; son, Martin Leonardo of Woodburn; brothers, Bernardino and Honorio, both of Woodburn, Natividad of Hubbard, Frank and Baltazar Jr., both of Gervais, Vicente and Isabel, both of Salem; sister, Concepcion Martinez of McMinnville, Maria de Los Angeles Ramirez of Sublimity; six grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 29 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn. Interment followed at Belle Passi cemetery, Woodburn.

Dixon
Ralph W. Dixon, 65 of Silverton, died Oct. 26, 2003.
Born March 19, 1938 in Silverton to Robert and Alice Dixon. He worked for Northwest Natural Gas in Salem for 38 years and on July 1, 2001 he retired as the Regional Gas Leakage Inspector.
He was married to Josephine Morgan on Nov. 12, 1958.
He is survived by his wife Josephine; sons, Eric and Ed of Salem; daughters, Ellen Dixon and Lisa Dixon of Silverton; mother, Alice Dixon of Woodburn; sister, Louise Sprague of Wooburn; and 5 grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 28 at Valley View cemetery in Silverton.
Arrangements are by Crown Memorial Center.
Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Silverton.
