Bock
Isabelle Bock, 80, of Woodburn, died Oct. 29, 2003.
Born Feb. 12, 1923, she is survived by a son, Richard Bock of Wilsonville; daughter, Mary Ellyn Bock of Tualatin; brother, Alan Peters of Wisconsin; sister, Alice Fiedler of Florida; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Woodburn. Private interment will be held at Willamette National cemetery, Portland.

Poole
Elizabeth "Betty" Poole, 88, of Woodburn, died Oct. 29, 2003.
Born Dec. 1, 1914 in Illinois, she would later marry Loyd Poole in 1940 in Illinois. He preceded her in death in December 1982.
She lived in Glendale, Calif., from 1942 until moving to Youngtown, Ariz., in 1980, and then to Woodburn in 1998.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
She worked as a waitress and as a de burrer for air defense's general control factory in California before retiring in 1980.
She is survived by her son, David Poole of Woodburn; brother, Edward Ruch of Wheaton, Ill., two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Memorials may be sent to the Marion-Polk Legal Aid Service, 1655 State St., Salem, Or 97301.

Jennings
Beulah T. Jennings, 88, formerly of Woodburn, died Dec. 2, 2004.
Born June 25, 1916 in Creswell, she graduated from high school in Goldthwaite, Texas in 1932.
She was a beautician, a licensed real estate agent, was stationed with her husband who served in World War II in Germany, and moved 16 times in 14 months. She enjoyed seamstress work and volunteered for Damasch Hospital for 35 years.
She moved to Woodburn in 1955, then to Canby in 2002.
She was a member of the Hoodview Church of God.
She married Earl Jennings in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Michael of Las Vegas, David of Aurora, and George of Woodburn; daughter, Barbara Jennings Davis of Keizer; sister, Fay Paradis of Oregon City; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at Hubbard Community Church.
Interment will be private at Willamette National cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Seely
Norman Blaine Seely, 83, of Woodburn, died Dec. 9, 2004.
Born Dec. 14, 1920 in Woodburn, he was a graduate of Woodburn High School.
He was a self-employed carpenter and lived in the Woodburn area his entire life.
He was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church and active in the church until his health prevented.
He married Bessie Louise Simmons. Bessie and his three daughters, Carolyn Jean, Betty Lou, and Sharon Rae, preceded him in death.
He married Edna Schatz on April 12, 1964 in Sheridan.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of Woodburn; brother, Lyman Seely of Aurora; sisters, Lois Wengenroth of Woodburn and Shirley Bond.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at Hope Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at the Greencrest Memorial Park in Sheridan.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, or Epilepsy Adult Research, Dr. James Cereghino OHSU Epilepsy Program, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park. Rd., Portland, OR 97201-3098, or to Silverton Hospital.

Dews
Darrell A. Dews, 70, of Woodburn, died Dec. 10, 2004.
He was born Aug. 31, 1934 in Milton-Freewater.
He was a tax consultant for accounting and payroll services.
He lived in Hood River, Woodburn, La Grande and Redmond. He was a member of the LaGrande Elks Lodge.
He married Frances Benson on April 30, 1955 in Stevenson, Wash.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Dews of Woodburn; children, Gary Dews and DeeDre Dews of Woodburn; brother, Jack Dougherty; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis, in 1999 and sister, Patricia, in 1997.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Sauvain
Clarence "Chuck" Charles Sauvain, 77, formerly of Woodburn, died Dec. 10, 2004 after a long-time battle with diabetes and cancer.
Born Nov. 12, 1927 in Silverton, he lived in Mt. Angel until age 15 when he moved to Woodburn. He graduated from Woodburn High School and attended Oregon State University on an athletic scholarship for basketball and baseball. He pitched varsity baseball for all four years and was selected All-West Coast athlete. He signed to pitch with the Pittsburg Pirates organization and played one season before being drafted to serve in Korea.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received a bronze star.
After the service, he returned home to Woodburn and assisted his ailing father in the family business, Sauvain Motor Company. He was able to continue playing baseball with the Silverton Red Sox, which somewhat satisfied his love of the game.
As a committed businessman, he was involved in many community organizations such as Woodburn Jaycess, Rotary Club, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge and most passionately "Varsity O", the Oregon State University Alumni Organization. He was also an active member of Hoodview Church of God.
He sold Sauvain Motor Company in 1993 and retired. He enjoyed golfing, RVing and traveling.
He married Lou Young on Sept. 13, 1986 and they made their home in Woodburn before moving to Keizer in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Lou of Keizer; sons, Charles of Lake Oswego, Thomas of Canby; daughter, Linda Sauvain of Hillsboro; stepsons, Kevin Hansen of Portland, Tim Hansen of Springfield, Deric Hansen of Charlottesville, Va.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at Hoodview Church of God in Woodburn.
Interment will be private at Willamette National cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or OSU Beaver Athletic Scholarship Fund, Oregon State University.

May
Alcuin L. May, 80, of Woodburn, died Feb. 12, 2005.
Born Sept. 11, 1924 in Mt. Angel, he lived his entire life in the valley, was an Army veteran of World War II, and was the proprietor of May's Furniture in Woodburn.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Elks, Eagles, Rotary, JC's, and was a past member of both the Woodburn Planning Commission and the Marion County Planning Commission.
He married Gladys Lulay Sept. 12, 1946 in Mt. Angel. She preceded him in death in 2003.
He is survived by a daughter, Cindy May of Canby; sons, Greg and Brian May of Woodburn, Bruce May of Austin, Texas; brother, Richard May of Eugene; sister, La Veta Hubert of Albany; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A rosary will be held on at 6 p.m. Feb. 15 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Angel.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Interment will be at Calvary cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
Contributions may be made to the St. Luke School Foundation.

Whiteside
Marie A. Whiteside (Kelly), 96, of Seattle, formerly of Woodburn, died Feb. 10, 2005.
Born June 20, 1908 in Sprague, Wash., she lived in Harrington and Kirkland, Wash., before coming to Woodburn in 1963. She later moved to Mt. Angel Towers in 1995 and to the Queen Anne Manor Assisted Living Center in Seattle last year.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and was a founding member and ex-president of St. Monica's Circle.
She married Charles Whiteside on June 20, 1934 in Sprague, Wash. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Crow of Seattle; sister, Marguerite Miller of Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held Feb. 15 at Mt. Angel Towers Chapel.
Private entombment will be at Belle Passi Mausoleum.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Contributions may be made to the St. Luke Catholic School Foundation.
