Wilhelmsen
Capt. Jerry N. Wilhelmsen, 83, of Woodburn, died April 22, 2006.
Born July 5, 1922 in Tacoma, Wash., he graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma in 1941.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and served 25 years as a captain for the Merchant Marines having sailed the world. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. He retired in 1967.
He worked for Brady Hamilton Stevedore Co. for many years before retiring in 1988.
He moved to Woodburn in 2005 and enjoyed spending time with his friends and devoted dog, Tawny.
He married Mae Floystead on Dec. 19, 1942 in Las Vegas and they made their home in Tacoma before moving to Portland in 1961.
He is survived by his wife, Mae of Woodburn; children, Lynn Wilhelmsen Riel of Woodburn, Jerry Wilhelmsen of McMinnville, Kristine Federico of Salem; sister, Mary Alice Kissamitakis of Tacoma; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. April 27 at Willamette National cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Willamette Humane Society.

Weltz
Edythe D. Weltz, 90, of Brooks died June 1, 2002.
Born Jan. 14, 1912, in Stanton, N.D., she was a homemaker. She lived in Salem before moving to Brooks in 1954.
Her interests included hunting, camping, crocheting, reading and raising chickens.
She married Herbert Weltz in 1932, in Beulah, N.D.; he died in 1984.
Survivors include her sons, Donald of Anaheim, Calif., Dennis of Salem, Terry and Gene both of Brooks; daughter, Patricia Dietderich of Brooks; brother, Lawrence Slupe of The Dalles; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will begin 10:30 a.m. June 6 in Belle Passi cemetery, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Torgeson
Jean Helen Torgeson, 71, of Woodburn died May 26, 2002.
Born April 6, 1931, in Portland, she was a homemaker. She lived in Eugene before moving to Woodburn in 1981.
Her interests included gardening and spending time with family.
She married Raymond Torgeson Oct. 22, 1970; he died in 1991.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Patton of Hillsboro; son, John Rue of Springfield; brother, James E. Dudley of Portland; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
At her request, no services will be held.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Contributions may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice.

Sullivan
Stella Mildred Sullivan, 99, of Woodburn died May 31, 2002.
Born Nov. 15, 1902, in Sheridan, Mo., she was a salesperson at the Oregon Hope and Help retail thrift store, where she volunteered for 14 years. She was also a cook for the Birdseye Frozen Food Plant cafeteria in Woodburn. She lived in Missouri before moving to Woodburn in 1937. She was a member the Woodburn Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Woodburn Garden Club, Woodburn Women's Club, Union Extension Club for 50 years and State Chaplain for the district grange.
She married Clyde Sullivan; he died in 1977.
Survivors include her son, Clyde Sullivan of Portland; and two grandchildren.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. June 6 in Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Stovall
Keith B. Stovall, 86, of Portland, formerly of Woodburn, died May 29, 2002.
Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Portland, he was a Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He lived in Woodburn for several years before returning to Portland five years ago. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for the city of Portland's Water Bureau for several years.
He married Muriel R. Floura Oct. 12, 1946, in Portland; she died in 1999.
Survivors include his in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 31 in Willamette National cemetery, Portland.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Newland
Thelma G. Newland, 92, of Salem, formerly of Woodburn, died June 1, 2002.
Born May 31, 1910, in Drakesville, Iowa, she attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a degree in nursing. She was at First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She moved to Woodburn in 1976 and worked for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. She moved to Mount Angel in 1994, and Salem in 1998.
Her interests included needlework and sewing.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews.
Services were private. Private interment was in IOOF cemetery, Bloomfield, Iowa.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Johnson
Wilbur DeLemoine Johnson, 82, of Albany, formerly of St. Paul, died May 26, 2002.
Born August 18, 1919, in Chappel, Neb., he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a custodian for St. Paul Elementary School, and retired in 1982. He lived in the St. Paul area for 23 years.
His interests included family, polka music, reading, wood working, gardening and driving trips.
Survivors include his sister, Elna Marsh of Albany; and brother, Melvin Johnson of Loma Linda, Calif.
Services were held May 29 in Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Galer
Alberta P. Galer, 84, of Woodburn died May 27, 2002.
Born Feb. 27, 1918, in Maysdorf, Wyo., she worked in the purchasing department at Crown Zellerback Paper Co. from 1960 until retiring in 1969. She lived in Canada, Idaho, Parkrose and Auburn, Wash., before moving to Woodburn in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Her interests included golfing, crafts, traveling and gardening.
She married Wilmer Galer Dec. 20, 1969, in Hazeldale, Wash.
Survivors include her husband; K. "Kae" Watts of Sweet Home; sons, Rick Spangler of Seattle; stepson, W. "Tony" Galer of Albuquerque, N.M.; stepdaughter, Kathryn Norton of Tucson, Ariz.; brother, Elmer "Bud" Payne of Nampa, Idaho; five grandchildren; one great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 31 in United Methodist Church, Woodburn.
Arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Pantle
Mildred E. Pantle, 90, of Woodburn died May 28, 2002.
Born Sept. 24, 1911, in Cowdrey, Colo., she worked as a licensed practical nurse and worked in Salem Hospital for 27 years. She lived in Wyoming before moving to Woodburn in 1945. She was a member of the Christian Church and of hte Retired Nurses Association.
Her interests included gardening, quilting, needlework, Christmas shopping and her yearly trip to the Inn at Spanish Head at Lincoln City.
She married Charley Pantle May 31, 1927, in Walden, Colo.; he died in 1982.
Survivors include her son, Fred Pantle of Woodburn; daughter, Vera Henn of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. June 1 in Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn. Vault interment will be in Belcrest cemetery, Salem.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Villarreal
Abelardo Villarreal, 34, of Seattle, formerly of Woodburn, died May 26, 2002.
Born May 18, 1968, in Portland, he worked as a forklift driver in an apple orchard. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
His interests included fishing, camping, the outdoors, dacing, socializing and working on cars and trucks.
Survivors include his father, Antonio; mother, Rosalinda Sifuentez of Wilsonville; sons, Skyler Dahanda of Canby, Abelardo Jr., Angelo and Serjo Villarreal, all of Gladstone; daughters, Anadala and Alexandra Villarreal, both of Woodburn; brothers, Antonio Villarreal Jr. of Woodburn, Alonzo and Andres Villarreal, both of Wilsonville and; sisters, Astella Villarreal of Tualatin and Anita Villareal of Woodburn.
Mass was celebrated May 31 in St. Lukes Catholic Church, Woodburn. Interment was in St. Lukes Catholic cemetery, Woodburn.
Arrangements were by Conrwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
