Daniel 'Danny' Dexter
Daniel Thomas Dexter, affectionately known as Danny, passed away June 10, 2007, unexpectedly in a fire at his Gresham home.
A time to mourn his passing and celebrate his life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 20, at Anderson's Tribute Center; a reception will follow. Private interment will be at a later date at the Parkdale cemetery.
Danny was born March 22, 1962, in Tomah, Wis., to Clifford Frank and Celia Maxine (Parker) Dexter, one of 13 children. He moved to Hood River Valley, Ore., with his family in 1965. He lived in Parkdale until 1969, when he moved to Hood River. He attended Dee Primary, Coe Elementary, May Street Elementary, Hood River Junior High and Hood River Valley High School.
He was well-known for his sarcastic sense of humor, quick wit, his love of his family and being able to spend time together. Danny was a hairstylist by trade, working throughout the greater Portland area. One of his sisters fondly recalls a memory of when she was getting her hair done and said, 'Make me beautiful...' Danny just smiled and replied, 'I'm a beautician, not a magician.' It is that quick wit and sense of humor that he was blessed (or cursed) with.
He had many passions in life. He loved the great outdoors; fishing, skiing, hiking and camping. He was also very passionate about his relationship with God. He was a member of East Hill Church in Gresham. When he was in Hood River he attended the Hood River Assembly of God Church.
Danny is survived and will be dearly missed by three brothers: Sheldon Dexter, of Parkdale, Ore., David (and Diane) Dexter of La Jara, Colo., and Timothy Dexter, of Tomah, Wis.; seven sisters: Sharon Drinkwine, of Tomah, Wis., Karen Wilson, of Dallesport, Wash., Jeanie Dexter-Krieger, of Hood River, Rita (and Ben) Hendershot, of Parkdale, Sarah Weaver, of Dallesport, Wash., Cecelia Jane Mauzey, of Hood River, and Ruth (and Harold) Smith, of Hood River; many, many nieces, nephews, extended family and even more friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shelby, and brother, Darrell. The family suggests that memorials be made in memory of Danny to either to the Memorial Fund for Danny Dexter at Bank of America or the Alzheimer's Foundation in care of Anderson's Tribute Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; (541) 386-1000.

A celebration of Benita's life will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 1 p.m. at the Rock Creek Center in Stevenson, Wash.

Benita's faith in the Lord and the love for her family gave her the strength to fight for her life in order to watch her children grow into the strong, giving and loving young adults they are today. She is missed by her family and friends and we will remember her always and draw on the strength she shared with us.
We will love you always - daughter, wife, mother and friend.

Maki moved into Providence Down Manor in 2002, and spent her last years sharing stories and playing games with many friends. Maki's greatest joy was her family. She was immensely proud of her sons, her four grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren. Maki was the eternal optimist. A great sense of humor and love for everyone kept her young until the day she died.
