Eloise Vosburg
Eloise Beebe M. Vosburg was born in Oregon City, Ore., on Jan. 24, 1917, to Oscar and Leeta (Edmunston) Minor. Eloise passed away in Tillamook, Ore., on Oct. 11, 2009, at the age of 92.
As a child Eloise moved to wherever her father could find work in the logging business. She attended school in Oregon City and finally settled in Hood River, Ore. She worked at the hospital in the dietary department.
Eloise was very active in the World Wide Church of God, and in the Hood River senior center. She held a church Bible study at her home, and loved to crochet, sew and listen to the radio.
Eloise always kept her family close by, and loved spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Dona Buchanan; brothers Ken, Harold, Raymond and Alvin; and by her sister, Evelyn Judd. Eloise is also preceded in death by her husbands Loyd Beebe and Cecil Vosburg.
Eloise leaves behind to honor her life: children Lloyd Beebe and his wife, Juanita, of The Dalles, Ore., Amelia Bush, of White Salmon, Wash., and Jerry Beebe and his wife, Sherry, of Tillamook, Ore.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for Eloise on Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View cemetery in Hood River. Those who wish to make memorial contributions in Eloise's name may do so to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Anne Goe
Anne Frances Goe passed away at her Mount Hood, Ore., home on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Her loving husband, Gary, and son Colby were at her side.
Anne brought to this challenging period in her life the same gracious and positive spirit that characterized the whole of her life. She continued to exercise her special gift of enjoying and supporting, family and friends to the end.
Anne was born in Ilford, Essex, England, on June 9, 1946, to Ronald and Rachel Bridgeman. In 1957, her family immigrated to Santa Barbara, Calif. She graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1964.
She worked at the Southern California Edison Company as an executive assistant. After many years, she moved up to Hood River, Ore., where she worked for the Hood River County District Attorney's office as a legal secretary for 13 years.
Because of her love of animals she then worked as a vet tech for Tucker Road Animal Hospital and later All Animal Care Clinic until cancer forced her to retire in 2003.
Anne was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Bridgeman. She is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Gary, and her son, Colby, at their home in Mount Hood; mother, Rachel, and brother, Alan; niece, Denise Villarete, and her husband, David; and nephews Kaden and Tanner.
Memorials are suggested in Anne's name to Hospice of the Gorge and sent in care of Anderson's Tribute Center.
An open house to honor Anne's life is planned from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Mt. Hood Winery, 2882 Van Horn Drive, Hood River.

Marjorie Wells
Marjorie (Mears) Wells, 86, passed away Oct. 2, 2009, at the Oregon Veterans' Home in The Dalles, Ore. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who spent her life in service to her family, church and community.
Marjorie was a gifted craftswoman and homemaker who loved sewing, knitting, tatting and embroidery. Her granddaughters, great-granddaughters and other little girls wore dresses she smocked and sewed for them.
Children loved to go to her house for cookies and to play with the toys she kept stored for them. She kept busy teaching Sunday school, leading 4-H, volunteering at the Care Center and doing innumerable, thoughtful acts of kindness for family, church family and friends.
Marjorie showed her love for people by baking pies, breads and cookies. She cooked meals to entertain in her home as well as preparing food for people who were sick, had surgery or were known to love her apple pies and homemade bread.
A Southern woman, Marjorie was born in 1922 in Woodbury, Tenn., as one of 10 children. She lived in a small rural community, graduating from Central High School.
After high school, she completed business courses in Nashville, Tenn., and worked for the Selective Service, where she met her future husband, Bill Wells, who was stationed in Nashville after enlisting in the army during World War II.
Bill and Marjorie lived in Tennessee until he was sent to India as part of the Army Air Corps. Marjorie lived with her mother and sisters, who had moved to Detroit during this time.
Once Bill completed his military duty, they moved back to the family farm in Pine Grove.
Respecting her wishes, Marjorie was buried on Oct. 9 at Pine Grove cemetery in a family-led service. A celebration of her life was held the following day at Hood River Church of Christ.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Bill; four children, 11 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family and all who knew her.

Thomas Simmons
Thomas Greene Simmons, a Parkdale, Ore., resident, died June 1, 2006, at his home. He was 81 years of age.
Services will be held on Friday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at the Parkdale Baptist Church.
Thomas was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Wichita, Texas, to Thomas and Eva (Aryer) Simmons. He was raised and educated in various towns in Texas and then served in the U.S. Air Force.
Following his discharge from the service in 1947 he moved to Oregon. On June 4, 1950, he and Ellen Walton were married in Oregon City, Ore.
In 1957 he and his family moved to Anchor Point, Alaska, and homesteaded. In 1983 he moved to Parkdale, where he resided until his death. Thomas was a member of the Parkdale Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of Parkdale; sons Joe Simmons of Milton, Fla., Lee Simmons of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ted Simmons of Gresham, Ore.; and daughters Sue McNally of Hood River, Ore., Patty Thoms of Anchor Point, Alaska, and Joy Bice of Sandy, Ore.
Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Pauline Peerce
Pauline Nellie Peerce (McPherson) was born July 22, 1907, to Alva McPherson and Junia Baker McPherson in Springfield, Ore., and passed to her next life May 31, 2006.
'Polly' married Norval Peerce in 1929 in Eugene, Ore.
Polly and Norval spent most of their married life making their homes in various cities throughout the United States due to Norval's work with the federal government. Polly was a vibrant, energetic woman who never seemed to mind the traveling as long as she was with her husband.
They made their last home together in El Paso, Texas, where at age 50 Polly obtained her pilot's license and found her second love was flying.
Polly lost Norval in December 1964 and moved home to Springfield to assist her parents in their later years.
She moved to Hood River in 1992 to be near family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her brothers, Harold McPherson and Austin McPherson; her sister, Delila McPherson; niece, Mary Sue McPherson and nephew, John McPherson.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Web and Laura McPherson, of Great Falls, Mont.; nieces Melanie Adams of Salem, Ore., Sandra Berry and partner Dean Guess of Hood River, and Peggy Sue Cornelius of LaPine Ore.; and nephews Martin McPherson of Albany, Ore., Austin McPherson of Rye, N.H., and Mark Keith of La Pine.
No formal services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont, Hood River, OR 97031.

Betty Adams
Elizabeth 'Betty' Louise Adams passed away in Clackamas, Ore., on June 1, 2006. She was born March 31, 1939, in Hood River, Ore., to Viola (Christenson) and Issadore Maddux.
In 1967, Betty married Robert Blaine. He died in the early 1990s.
In 1995, she married Connie Adams. Betty was known for her home-cooked meals in both restaurants and health care.
She cooked for the YACC's at the Wind River Nursery for a number of years prior to owning Betty's Silver Grill. Mrs. Adams operated her restaurant from 1981 until 1994. She then worked as a caregiver and cook for elder residents in homes and assisted living centers until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Connie; brothers Gerald 'Bud' Maddux and Ted Maddux; sisters Carol Hodgson and Barbara Morby; children Larry Douglass, Dave Douglass, Joe Douglass and Tony Blaine; grandchildren Jason, Ryan, Michael, Meghan, Eric, Katie, Patrick, Elizabeth, Tyler and Jessica; and great- grandchildren Karl, Kameron, RyAnn and Ali. Preceding Betty in death are her parents, Issadore and Viola Maddux, and her husband, Robert Blaine.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 6, at the Carson Bible Church in Carson, Wash. Gardner Funeral Home handled cremation arrangements.

Lester Schilling
Lester Mac Schilling died on June 4, 2006.
Lester was born April 27, 1911, to Lora J. and Amy J. Schilling in Knoxville, Iowa. Lester was a logger, driving log trucks and falling timber.
He married Anna Oren of Astoria, Ore., on June 17, 1932, in Trout Lake, Wash. They spent most of their married life in BZ Corner.
The World War II years were spent in Portland where Lester worked in the ship yards. After retirement they relocated to Stevenson, closer to his favorite golf course. Golf was his favorite activity and he played regularly until age 90.
Lester is survived by his five children, JoAn Hughes of Hood River, Deane King of Charlotte, N.C., Kenneth Schilling of Tigard, Ore., and Deloris Vassallo and Norma Stein, both of Stevenson; two sisters, Vivian Sitherwood and Darlene Yaun, both of Carson.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; one grandchild, Michael Hughes; two brothers and four sisters.
Lester asked to be interred with his wife in the White Salmon cemetery. A memorial graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 17, at 1 p.m. at the White Salmon cemetery for friends and family.
Gardner Funeral Home handled cremation arrangements.

Mary Green
Mary Oma Green, 93, a resident of Hood River, Ore., passed away at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital June 2, 2006.
She was born Dec. 3, 1912, to George and Mary Lucibelle (Batson) Clinton in Spavanau, Okla. She was the oldest daughter in a family of nine children.
Mary Oma married Aaron Green Oct. 18, 1930, at Poteau, Okla. In 1934, they moved to the San Joaquin Valley in California, where she was a homemaker and raised five children.
She passed on to her children a love of beauty, the outdoors, adventure and travel. She kept a beautiful home and garden that was always welcoming to her family.
In 1959, the family moved to the Santa Cruz area on the California coast, where Mary Oma volunteered for the Red Cross, enjoyed family activities and attended the Santa Cruz Assembly of God Church. Aaron retired from his contractor business in 1972, and they moved to Hood River, Ore.
Mary Oma's love of flowers and gardening led to her taking the position of resident Park Ranger at Panorama Point from 1973 to 1983. Under the care of Mary and Aaron, the park was developed into a showplace.
In 1975, they received a state award for Hood River County for the landscaping there. In Hood River, Mary Oma was a member of the Hood River Assembly of God Church where she was the oldest member in 2006.
Mary Oma was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Green, her parents, four of her brothers, three sisters and her son, Donald.
Survivors include her daughter, Rosalee, and son-in-law Roy Brodehl; daughter, Mary, and son-in-law Ernie Lee; son, Thomas, and daughter-in-law Elaine Green; and son, Jim, and daughter-in-law Diane Green. Eleven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren loved her dearly.
Graveside services were officiated by Rev. Roy Brodehl and Pastor Terry Abbott on June 6, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hood River Assembly of God Church Building Fund, c/o Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont, Hood River, OR 97031.
