Neoma D. Steimlosk
Former Newberg resident Neoma Dora Steimlosk died March 12, 2006, at her home in Hillsboro. She was 89.
She was born April 25, 1916, to Edward and Vida Adams in Chase, Mich. She graduated in 1934 from Hazel Park High School, in a suburb of Detroit, Mich. She was captain of the basketball team.
She and her husband, Bill, were married on Oct. 8, 1938, and they made their home in Hazel Park. As a young woman she worked in an ice cream parlor and at a Plymouth car factory, and she would later become a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband moved in 1987 to Tigard. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991, at which time she moved to Sherwood, where she was active at the senior center. She moved in 2001 to Avamere in Newberg, and again in 2005 to a foster home in Hillsboro.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of Willowbrook Christian Fellowship in Sherwood.
She was preceded in death by son Dale and daughter Lois.
Survivors include: daughter Sandy of Sherwood; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Cyrus and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Saturday) at Sherwood United Methodist Church, 22280 S.W. Washington St. Services and interment will be held in Michigan.

Evert F. Aldridge
Woodburn resident Evert F. Aldridge, who has family in Newberg, died of natural causes on March 2, 2006. He was 71.
He was born May 10, 1934, in Lamar, Colo. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Betty Huddleston on March 8, 1957, in Vancouver, Wash. He worked for 25 years as a life insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company. Upon retirement he moved to Woodburn Senior Estates in 1989. He had also lived in Longview, Wash., and Monument, where he had a ranch.
He was a member of the Woodburn Christian Church. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, rose gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He was a state wrestling champion and a professional baseball player.
Survivors include: wife Betty of Woodburn; daughters, Linda Atwell of Silverton, Beth Molzahn of Newberg and Kandi Savage of Cove; son Evert Jr. of Pleasant Hill; brothers, John of Keizer and Russell of Washington; sisters, Rosemary Buker of Vancouver, Wash., and Doris Horn of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life was held March 9 at Woodburn Christian Church. A graveside service was held at Belle Passi cemetery in Woodburn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Woodburn Christian Church.

Ray E. Holland
Former Newberg resident Ray Edgar Holland died of cancer on Feb. 22, 2006. He was 68.
He was born May 12, 1937, in Union Valley, Ark. He served in the Army. He married Teresa in 1972. He worked as a longshoreman in Portland. He lived in Newberg for 24 years, leaving in 1998. He lived in Bend at the time of his death.
Survivors include: wife Teresa of Bend; son Chet; daughters, Kimberly Boone, Tricia Woodson and Michelle Holland-Bohna; brothers, Eugene, Lemmie, Ben and Butch; sister, Betty; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at noon today (Saturday) at Longshoreman's Hall in Portland.

Diana J. Bartholomew
Diana Jean Bartholomew died on March 2, 2006, at her Newberg home. She was 48.
She was born in Portland and lived most of her life in Newberg.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel.

Donald P. Richter
Donald Peter Richter, who worked in Newberg at dental-equipment manufacturer A-dec Inc., died Feb. 26, 2006, at his home in Gaston. He was 71.
He was born Feb. 1, 1935, to Joseph and Theresa (Ditrich) Richter in Brooks. He moved with his family to Gaston at a young age. Following high school, he attended vocational school to be a machinist and tool and die maker. He married Velda Fink on Feb. 11, 1956, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Gaston.
They made their home in Alaska, where he co-owned and operated a logging camp. They returning to Oregon in 1964. He worked for A-dec as a machinist and supervisor for 18 years, retiring at age 55.
He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Forest Grove. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include: wife Velda of Gaston ; sons, Donald, John, Michael, Kelvin and Gregory; brothers, Richard and Robert; sisters, Mary Scott of Canby and Marlene Mills of Forest Grove; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ed Richter.
A funeral Mass was held March 2 at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Forest Grove. Interment followed at Forest View cemetery in Forest Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Oregon Affiliate, Inc., 1200 N.W. Naito Parkway No. 220, Portland, OR 97209 or to the Gaston Fire Department & Rescue, 102 E. Main Street, Gaston, OR 97119.

Helen L. Hutchins
Former Newberg resident Helen Louise Hutchins died Feb. 17, 2006, at the Beaverton home of her daughter, where she resided. She was 87
She was born Dec. 5, 1918, to Wilmer and Bertha (Short) Cannon in Seaford, Del., where she was raised and educated. In 1935, she married Phillip Pyper. They were later divorced. In 1967, she married Russell Hutchins. He preceded her in death in 1977.
She worked as a secretary for a mutual funds company. She lived in Scholls, Newberg and Portland before making her home with her daughter in Beaverton. She is one of the original volunteers in 1953 who raised funds to build the Newberg hospital.
She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking and spending time with family.
Survivors include: daughter Kay Bridges of Beaverton; brother Carlton Cannon of Seaford; granddaughters, Lynne Bridges of West Linn and Lori Scholz of Newberg; and four great-grandchildren.
The family held a celebration of her life. Burial was at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.

Donna K. Parcel
Newberg resident Donna K. Parcel died of natural causes Feb. 22, 2006, in Portland. She was 45.
She was born April 9, 1960, in Iowa. She worked as a caregiver. She enjoyed bead work and collecting marbles.
She was married to Doug Wyatt for 20 years.
Survivors include: brothers, David, Bob and Chuck; and daughter, Misty Dawn.
She was preceded in death by Dorothy Parcel.
A wake for friends and family will be held at 5 p.m. March 12 at 1014 E. Hancock St. #1.

Odin A. Bakken
Former Newberg resident Odin A. Bakken died Feb. 26, 2006. He was 73.
He was born on Long Island, N.Y., and raised in Newberg. He lived in Lake Oswego and Portland. He served in the military during the Korean War.
Survivors include: wife Patricia; sons, Chris, Mark and Greg; eight grandchildren; and sisters, Priscilla Keller and Thea Easly.
A funeral service was held March 3 at St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church in Portland. A rosary was held March 2 at the Zeller Chapel of the Roses in Portland. A military burial was held at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.

Shirley Northcutt
Longtime Newberg resident Shirley Northcutt died Feb. 26, 2006, at Providence Newberg Hospital. She was 72.
She was born Oct. 25, 1933, to Carl and Mable (Shoemaker) Haack in Kansas City, Mo. She graduated from Los Gatos (Calif.) High School. She was a homemaker. For a time, she owned Newberg Printing. She lived in Newberg for 40 years and was a resident of Nut Tree Mobile Home Park.
Survivors include: sons, Michael, Jeff and Greg of Newberg, Ron of Philomouth, Lennie of Vancouver, Wash., and Rick of Galveston, Texas; daughters, Stacey Gardner and Kristi Mitchell, both of Newberg; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Newberg Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Newberg Presbyterian Church or the Newberg Fire Department.

Betty A. Mount
Newberg resident Betty Ann Mount died Feb. 19, 2006. She was 75.
She was born Oct. 1, 1930, to Arthur and Rosa (McIntosh) King in Cushing, Okla. The family moved to Newberg when she was a child. She graduated from Newberg High School in 1949. She worked for Kresses Drug Store in Portland.
On Nov. 18, 1952, she married Tracy Mount in Seattle. They made their home in Newberg and later moved to California, where she earned a nursing degree from Modesto Junior College. The family returned to Newberg in 1967. She worked at Newberg Care Home. In 1980, she went to work for Fairview Training Center in Salem, where she worked 15 years before retiring in 1995. She enjoyed traveling in her retirement and spent time in Arizona as a 'snowbird.'
She enjoyed volkswalking, spending time with family, singing Karaoke and watching 'American Idol' on TV. She was a Portland Trail Blazers fan.
Survivors include: daughters, Lawana Herman of Seattle and Silverton, Darla Hallford of Salem and Sally Flaucher of Aloha; sons, Darrell of Dundee and Dale of Newberg; sisters, Rachel Wall of Newberg, June King of Yuma, Ariz., and Gwenda Praus of Salem; brothers, David King of Hemet, Calif., and Larry King of Gladstone; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert King, in March 2005.
A funeral service was held Feb. 23 at Newberg Christian Church.

Darrell D. Cloepfil
Former Newberg resident Darrell 'Boise' D. Cloepfil died Feb. 19, 2006, at his home in Carlton. He was 81.
He was born Aug. 14, 1924, to Donald and Lola (Pickett) Cloepfil in Hunter, Kan. He moved to Boise in 1937 and to Newberg in 1938. He played on a Newberg High School state champion football team. He served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to Newberg, where he finished high school before going to Oregon State University. He joined the Merchant Marines and later moved to Carlton to become a farmer. His crops included prunes, walnuts, cherries and grain. He also worked at the Trappist Abbey near Lafayette.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, watching college football and dancing. He was a member of the Carlton American Legion, Oregon Farm Bureau and a past member of the board of directors of the Oregon Quarterhorse Association.
Survivors include: wife Arlene of Carlton; son Richard of Carlton; daughter Linda Boline of Dallas; brothers, Howard of Lincoln City, Kirk of Springfield and Douglas of Newberg; sisters, Helen Miller of Salem, Joyce Brandt of Spokane, Wash., Cora Burgess of Seattle and Donna Moore of Newberg; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Vance and sister Louise Hess.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at the Chapel of Macy and Son Funeral Directors, 135 N. Evans St., McMinnville. Pastor Sid Johnson will officiate.

Arthur H. McCoy
Arthur H. McCoy, a longtime broadcast executive who had homes in Newberg and Bend, died Feb. 10, 2006, during emergency heart surgery in Hawaii. He was 88.
McCoy founded and built Pacific & Southern Broadcasting and then McCoy Broadcasting, which owned radio stations in Oregon, among other places. He was active in the Providence Newberg Health Foundation, serving as endorsement chairman for The Time is Now Campaign, and also supported juvenile diabetes research at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
McCoy was married for more than 60 years to Virginia McCoy. She died in 2002.
Survivors include: wife Dorothy; son Craig of Lake Oswego; daughter Barbara Gartner of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren, Meagan and Michael McCoy and Melissa and Mike Gartner.
A memorial service will be held March 8 on Maui, Hawaii.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Newberg Health Foundation for The Time is Now Campaign.
