Ralph Frederick Paul Smeltzer
Born in Portland, Oregon on Jan. 18, 1922
Departed on Apr. 26, 2005 and resided in Portland, OR.
Ralph F. Smeltzer, 83, of Portland, Oregon died April 26, 2005 due to heart failure in a local hospital.
Born January 18, 1922 in Portland, Oregon the son of Paul and Anna (Day) Smeltzer. A life long resident of Portland he graduated from Parkrose High School. Ralph served his country during WWII in the US Navy. On October 10, 1946 he married Mary Clagget. He worked as a PBX Installer for Pacific NW Bell.
He is survived by his wife Mary, children Diana Bates, Susan Brinser, Nancy Cain, and Sally Jensen; 9 Granchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Juan Barbosa Amaya
Born in Utopia, Texas on Mar. 23, 1916
Departed on Apr. 30, 2005 and resided in Portland, OR.
Juan Amaya of Portland, Oregon died April 30, 2005 he was 89 years old.
Juan in his youth at a family ranch in Utopia, Texas worked as a ranch hand, lassoing cattle, bronco rider, mending fences, taming horses, a true cowboy in the West Texas riding the range.
He served honorably in the US Navy as a Seaman First Class in 1941 on the USS Captivate 156, mind sweeper for 4 years in the South Pacific Islands during WWII and was discharged from Camp Wallace, Texas on Nov. 24, 1945.
He then migrated with his family from Texas to Oregon in the 1960's and worked for Boise Cascade Plywood and Mill in Valsetz, Oregon. He enjoyed bank fishing, dancing, doing volunteer work, watching his grandchildren play sports and sporting events on T.V.
Juan volunteered for four separate senior meal site organizations. Mid Willamette Valley Senior Service Agency in Salem, Dallas, Monmouth (First Christian Church) and Independence. He was honored as a volunteer and received a plaque and was praised at the annual banquet for continually helping clean up after 50+ seniors eating at the meal sites daily. He enjoyed this because it made him feel food to help others in need.
Open Casket visitation will be held at Farnstrom Mortuary on May 5, 2005 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Rosary starting at 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will commence on May 6, 2005 at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 10:00 am with a Military Burial Following at Hilltop cemetery.

Ileen (Hyde) Knowles, 72, of Portland, Oregon died of Natural causes on May 4, 2005.
Born on May 21, 1932 in Lewiston, Utah. A resident of Portland, Oregon for 51 years. She married C. William Knowles on November 20, 1951. She enjoyed sewing and traveling. She was a member of the Church Choir and the Relief Society.
Survivors include: husband, C. William Knowles; 7 sons, R. William, Rex, Tad, Quinn, Keith, Bryce, and John; 2 daughter Cheryl Yee and Marilyn Smith; Sisters Venice Sorenson, Glenna
Brothers Staley Hyde, Milton Hyde, Lamont Hyde, Norris Hyde; 20 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Roger W. Gordon
Born in Salem, Oregon on Jun. 7, 1977

Roger W. Gordon of Keizer, Oregon died May 6, 2005 at his home he was 27 years old.
Roger was born June 7, 1977 in Salem, Oregon to Clifford and Janis Eberlein Gordon.
Graduated from Central High School in 1995. 27 years in Polk and Marion County.
Loved hunting, fishing, camping with family and friends, he also loved bicycling, RC Cars and airplanes. Roger loved children

Visitation will be Sunday May 8, 2005 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Farnstrom Mortuary
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Monday at Farnstrom Mortuary.

Steven Alfred Boyd Jensen
Born in Sweet Home, Oregon on May 8, 1939

Steven Alfred Boyd Brown of Downey, California (Formally of Sweet Home, Oregon) died April 19, 2005.
Steven was born May 8, 1939 in Sweet Home, Oregon to Clyde Jensen and Beatric McCoy.
Belonged to the U.S. Navy from March 1957 to April 1963.
From Naval training, he became a carpenter and then 10 years ago became a building inspector.
Belonged to the Christian Church
Steven loved to fish, hunt, camp and loved the outdoors and being with family. He was a loving, kind, honest and funny man. 'one of the best'

ROBERT OLSEN
Robert “Bob” Laurel Olsen, 84, of the Depoe Bay area, passed away on March 8, 2016.
He was born on March 14, 1931, in Portland, Ore., to Ole and Frances Olsen.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
Affordable Burial and Cremation is handling the arrangements.

Karene Lee Ferguson

Karene Lee Ferguson of Salem, Oregon died July 19, 2005 at her home in Salem she was 59 years old.
Karene was born August 11, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to Robert and Julie Cutter Ferguson. Graduated from a Portland High School and attended Portland Community College. Lived in Salem, Oregon for the last 8 years moving from McMinnville.
Karene was baptized at St. Andrews in Portland, Oregon and attended Court Street Christian Church in Salem, Oregon.
She enjoyed collecting videos and keys, also loved spending time with her grandchildren and was very excited about the new one that is on its way. She also enjoyed spending time volunteering to help the homeless she would help hand out blankets in the winter so they could stay warm.
