Tammy S. Anderson
Sept. 11, 1959 - Feb. 23, 1999

Tammy Sue Anderson, 39, of Albany died Tuesday in Salem after a five-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Corvallis, attended Philomath schools and graduated from Philomath High School in 1997. She was active in sports, including cross country and swimming, and was a cheerleader.

She attended Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University, where she was offered a swimming scholarship.

She married Paul Anderson on Feb. 13, 1982, in Philomath. They moved to Beaverton in 1989 and to Albany in 1997.

Mrs. Anderson had worked for the Corvallis Gazette-Times and had owned the World of Toys in Albany. She especially loved her children.

Surviving are husband Paul of Albany; children Elliott, William and Amanda Anderson, all of Albany; father and stepmother, William and Marquita Rampenthal of Corvallis; mother and stepfather Connie and Hugh Lampert of Monmouth; brothers Leo Giles of Atlanta, Ga., Rob Drahn of Lincoln City and Ron Rampenthal of Tangent; sisters Toni Macomb of Molalla, Joanne Heddins of McMinnville, Billie Chairet of Gladstone and Johnie Harp of Philomath.

Daughter Julie Ann Anderson died earlier.

A celebration of Mrs. Anderson's life was scheduled at 2 p.m. today at AAsum Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Nolte officiating.

Contributions in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of AAsum Funeral Home, 805 S. Ellsworth St., Albany, Ore. 97321.

Clifford E. Boardrow
June 17, 1916 - Feb. 21, 1999

Clifford E. Boardrow, 82, of Turner died Sunday in Salem.

Born in Backus, Minn., he had lived in the Willamette Valley since 1923. He worked in the grocery industry as an order clerk and retired in 1979, after 27 years of work for Sam Orcutt's Market.

Mr. Boardrow had lived in Sweet Home, Lebanon, Salem and Turner. He belonged to Court Street Christian Church of Salem. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his family and especially enjoyed fellowship. He played the mouth harp with the Gospel Megatones.

He married Edessie Boardrow on July 11, 1940. She survives. Also surviving are daughters Earlene Johnson of Lebanon and Lillian "Lynne" Walker of Salem; brothers Robert Boardrow of Lebanon and Ralph Boardrow of Salem; and sisters Velma Backus and Irene Wetherell, both of Lebanon. There are five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the Virgil T. Golden Funeral Home of Salem. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Court St. Christian Church. Burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.

Elly Crain
July 1, 1925 - May 11, 2007

Elly Crain, 81, of Sweet Home died Friday. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Depok, Indonesia.

Elly came to Sweet Home from California in 1985. She enjoyed cooking and playing the ukelele and piano. She was a loving wife, mom, oma, and friend. She will forever be remembered and will always remain in our hearts. We love you and will miss you.

Elly is survived by her husband, John Crain; two sons, Stan Crain and Gabby Crain; two daughters, Trudy Andrews and Margie Crain; son-in-law, Hal Andrews; daughter-in-law, Tami Crain; one brother and two sisters; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

Mary Ann Fisk
July 30, 1935 - April 13, 2007

Mary Ann Fisk, 71, of Lebanon, died Friday April 13, 2007.

She was born July 30, 1935 in Cle Elum, Washington, the daughter of Alfred H. and Anna (Dane) Webb. She married Emmett Eslinger, and they raised four children. Their marriage later ended in divorce. Mary married Walter Klute, who subsequently died. Later, while working as a nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon, Mary married Leonard Fisk. The couple lived in Lebanon, Oregon until Leonard’s death in 2005.

Mary enjoyed getting together with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by sons, Donald Eslinger of Roseburg and Dale and Dwayne Eslinger of Lebanon; daughter, Jackie Strickland, also of Lebanon; brothers, Harry Webb of St. Helens, Bill Webb of Rainier, Raymond Webb of The Dalles, and Bob Webb of Longview, Washington; sisters, Betty Green of Sweet Home, Esther Stout of Boring, Pat Hood of Fresno, California; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 4:00-7:00 pm Friday, April 20th, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, April 21st, at the Lebanon Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A one-hour viewing will be at the church prior to the service.

Lorene “Lori” Schembri
November 28, 1928 - March 31, 2007

Lorene “Lori” Schembri, 78, of Sweet Home died Saturday. She was born to Herbert and Lena (Biles) Davis in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee.

Lori lived in Buffalo, New York, California, and Nevada before settling in Sweet Home in 2000. She worked as a waitress. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and playing Bingo.

Lori is survived by children, Anita Collins of Sweet Home, PaTrisha Schembri of Scottsdale, AZ, Toni Anna Cicatello and Angelo Schembri of Woodland Hills, CA; siblings, Jake of Tipton, IN, Iva of Boston, MA, Zelma of Santa Maria, CA, Jim of Davis, OK, Ann of Buffalo, NY, Ralph, Lucille, Josephine, and Stanley, all of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Angelo Schembri, and sibling, Glen Davis.

No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Diabetes Association, c/o Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, 1443 Long Street. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Myrtle G. Clever
Aug. 12, 1910 - Feb. 24, 1999

LEBANON - Myrtle G. Clever, 88, of Lebanon died Wednesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.

She was born in Laurens, Iowa, the daughter of Seth and Lovina (Bardwell) Robbins. She grew up and completed her schooling in Iowa. She married John N. Clever in Linn Grove, Iowa.

Mrs. Clever had moved to Lebanon in 1953. She enjoyed canning, gardening, quilting and spending time with her family. She belonged to the Lebanon First Assembly of God.

Surviving are daughters Trudie Carter of Lebanon and Sharon Grimes of Salem; son Clarence of Sweet Home; brother Glenn Robbins of Riverside, Calif.; sister Gladys Lennox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Mrs. Clever's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God, Seventh and Oak Streets. Burial will follow at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.

Buford Lonzo Cline
Jan. 27, 1916 - Feb. 18, 1999

CORVALLIS - Buford Lonzo Cline, 83, of Corvallis died Feb. 18 at home.

Mr. Cline was born in Knoxville, Ark., and spent his adult professional life working in the oil fields of the southwest. For nearly 30 years he lived in Hobbs, N.M., where he worked for Hobbs Pipe and Supply and owned a service station.

After retiring in 1981, he moved to Albuquerque, N.M., and later to Corvallis to be near his daughter.

Mr. Cline served in Europe, Africa and the Middle East during World War II, and was a squad leader, platoon sergeant and sharpshooter in the 179th infantry. He also trained and served with the 45th infantry, known as the Thunderbirds.

Mr. Cline was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially enjoyed time spent with his granddaughters.

He was active in the Masons and as a Shrine clown raised money for Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children. He was a 50-year member of the Hobbs Grand Lodge of AF&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rites and York Rites Masons. He was a permanent contributing member of the Ballut Abyad Temple of Albuquerque.

Mr. Hobbs was active in the Episcopal Church in Hobbs.

Surviving are daughter Donna Vuchinich; and granddaughters Michelle Barnhouse and Amy DeLopir.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Hobbs, N.M., with the Rev. Benny Greenlee officiating. McHenry Funeral Home of Corvallis is handling arrangements.

Elsie May Dewey
July 20, 1924 - Feb. 23, 1999

CRABTREE - Former Crabtree resident Elsie May Dewey, 74, of Payette, Idaho, died Tuesday.

She was born in Mead County, Kan., to Luther and Mary (Lemmons) Nelson. She graduated from high school in 1943 in Delta, Colo., and attended nursing school in Denver.

She married Robert Dewey on May 5, 1945. The Deweys lived in Western Treasure Valley in Idaho and moved to Eugene in 1953 and to Homedale in 1958. They later lived in Sutherlin and Crabtree and they managed a campground at North Plains. They moved to Payette in 1990.

Mrs. Dewey was very active in church groups, including the women's groups. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and visiting friends and relatives.

Surviving are husband Robert; sons Ray of Gresham, Edwin of Ashland and Dan of Aloha; daughters Merna Deland of Payette, Idaho, Mary Bradley of Eugene; and five brothers, four sisters and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and a sister died earlier.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Ontario. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery in Payette. Haren Wood Funeral Chapel of Ontario is handling arrangements.

Miranda M. Hicks
Jan. 26, 1999 - Feb. 22, 1999

SWEET HOME - Miranda Marie Hicks, infant daughter of Randy Randson and Sarah Elaine (Wildung) Hicks of Sweet Home, died Monday at home.

Besides her parents, Miranda is survived by grandparents Stan and Elaine Wildung of Crawfordsville and Roger and Cheryl Hicks of Sweet Home; and by great-grandparents William and Fern Scott of Mehama.

Miranda's funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sweet Home Mennonite Church, with Pastor Pete Kauffman officiating. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

Edna C. Abraham
Dec. 26, 1905 - Feb. 23, 1999

SHEDD - Longtime Shedd resident Edna C. Abraham, 93, of Corvallis died Tuesday at Heart of the Valley Care Center.

Mrs. Abraham was born in Shedd, the daughter of Richard and Mabel (McElroy) Farwell

She married Lewis Clark Abraham on Sept. 25, 1926, in Albany, and they lived in Shedd until 1986, when they moved to Corvallis. Mr. Abraham died March 16, 1988.

Mrs. Abraham was a past member of the Shedd Garden Club. She enjoyed raising flowers, was an avid readers and liked playing pinochle and bingo and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving are son John of Lebanon; daughters Madelyn Howard of Tacoma, Wash., Carole Steckly of Corvallis and Lila Ackerman of Florence; and sisters Fern Miller of Corvallis, Frances LeVee of Houston, Texas, and Mabel Quinn of Salem. There are eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Brothers Otis and Neil Farwell and sisters Hazel, Bernice and Gertrude died earlier.

Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Willamette Memorial Mausoleum.

Sylvin J. Bergevin
June 16, 1914 - Feb. 23, 1999

Former Albany resident Sylvin John Bergevin, 84, of Salem died Tuesday of pancreatic cancer.

Born in Yakima, Wash., he graduated from high school in Toutle, Wash., and worked in the Logging Industry in Washington and Oregon. He last worked for Teledyne Wah Chang Albany.

He married Frances Jackson on Aug. 30, 1940.

Mr. Bergevin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in church work. His favorite pastime was gardening.

Surviving are wife Frances; sons Marvin and Duane, both of Salem and Vern of Sweet Home; daughters Mellie Casida of Albany and Delpha Foulger and Darla Barton, both of Salem; and sisters Lea Helmig of Molalla, Alice Coleman of Yakima, Wash., and Lorraine Wassemiller of Prineville. There are 33 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and Mr. Bergevin's funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, both at the Keizer LDS Stake Center, 1375 Lockhaven Drive N.E., in Keizer. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Salem. Restlawn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Contributions in Mr. Bergevin's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice of Salem.

Ruth A. Cutsforth
Jan. 24, 1922 - Feb. 24, 1999

Ruth Arlene Cutsforth, 77, of Albany died Wednesday.

She was born in Kansas to George and Cecelia (Warneke) Nissen. She moved to Albany in 1939, when her father started Nissen Motor Co., and she had lived in Albany since. The family still owns and operates Nissen Ford.

She attended Oregon State University and married David Cutsforth on June 2, 1946.

Mrs. Cutsforth belonged to Faith Lutheran Church, was a member of Santiam Girl Scouts Council and had been a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed woodworking and art, was a gardener, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Surviving are husband David; sons David Jr. of Philomath and Lee and Tom, both of Albany; daughter Cece Cutsforth of Portland; brother Bob Nissen of New York, N.Y.; and sisters Eulalah Snyder of Coos Bay and Cleo Swensen of Portland; and seven grandchildren.

At Mrs. Cutsforth's request there will be no services.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Santiam Girl Scouts Council or the Albany Boys & Girls Club. They may be sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore. 97321.
