Dan McCauley

Dan Philiman McCauley, 43, of Nixa, Mo. died from heart failure at his home in Depoe Bay on April 24, 1999.
He was born in Mexico, Mo. on Sept. 27, 1955 to Jerry and Mary Ann McCauley. He graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Mo. in 1973.
He was employed at Aire-Master in various capacities since he was a teen. He loved music and was a drummer in school and in rock bands throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and watching sports. He suffered from ongoing health problems.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Mary Ann of Nixa, Mo.; sisters and brothers-in-law Patti and Vince Kilgore of Nixa, Mo. and Carol and Mark Bosserman of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a niece, Larisa Bosserman of Brooklyn Park; a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Phyllis of Nixa; and his grandmother, Janette McCauley of Columbia, Mo..
An informal memorial service will be held at Aire-Master, 1821 North Highway CC, Nixa, Mo. at 6 p.m. May 8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Dan McCauley Memorial Fund at Signature Bank, PO Box 589, Springfield, Mo. 65801. All contributions may be donated to the World Wildlife Fund. Bateman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

June Hughitt

June Hughitt, 80, of Toledo died of cancer in Corvallis on April 26, 1999.
She was born in Portland on July 31, 1918 to Elmer and Lucille Plant. She married Herb Hughitt in Toledo on July 1, 1956. She had been a lifelong resident of Toledo.
She retired as a secretary for Georgia-Pacific in 1983. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include her husband, Herb Hughitt of Toledo; daughters Nikki Whitty of Coquille and Michele Kunshier of Springfield; a son, Victor Hungerford of Ridgecrest, Calif.; grandchildren Noah Hall and Aimee Ward, both of Salem; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Toledo Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society. Bateman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Vannie Arasmith

Vannie Arasmith, 81, of Eugene died April 30, 1999.
He was born in Jewel, Kansas on July 22, 1917. He moved to Oregon in the early 1940s and operated a truck repair garage in Florence until 1977, when he moved to a ranch on the Yachats River.
He moved to Seal Rock in 1990. He had lived in the rest home in Eugene where he died since 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, of Seal Rock; a step-daughter, Patricia, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a son, Everett "Sheet" Arasmith of Albany; a daughter, Sheila Rehberger of Grants Pass; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Yachats Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. May 16.

Lillie Gotchall

Lillie M. Gotchall, 87, of Salem died May 3, 1999 at her home.
She was born in Mitchell, Neb. on April 1, 1912. She lived in Newport from 1945 to 1968, when she moved to Salem.
She married Clyde L. Gotchall on Feb. 3, 1968. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Gotchall of Salem; daughters Shirley D. Burt and Edith Ellen Jones, both of Salem, and Marsha Rowley of Newport; a son, Bennie L. Jones of Silverton; sisters Maude Remington of Beaverton, Middie Wiesman of Scotts Bluff, Neb. and June Reeder of Visalia, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday from noon to 5 p.m., and services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, both at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem. Entombment will be in Restlawn Mausoleum in Salem.

Wilma "Willie" Madden

Wilma "Willie" Ruth Madden, 76, of Lincoln City died April 29, 1999 in Lincoln City.
She was born in Detroit, Mich. on Aug. 14, 1922 to William and Helen. She worked for many years as a trade show manager.
She is survived by her son, Bill Marchman of Newport.
Disposition was by cremation. Private scattering services will take place. Pacific View Memorial Chapel is serving the family.

Dixie Young

Dixie Lee Young, 49, of Newport died at Sunrise Care Center in Portland on April 29, 1999.
She was born in St. Helens on Sept. 22, 1949 to Wilbur S. and Alice Maxine Shadley Cook. She had been a resident of Newport since 1977.
She married Karl Young in Newport on Sept. 18, 1982. For seven years, she was a teacher at Sonshine Christian School and prior to that, she had been a substitute teacher for the Lincoln County School District.
She was a member of the Central Coast Assembly of God Church in Newport. She had been a foster parent for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Karl, of Newport; parents Wilbur and Maxine Cook of Warren; a son, B.J. Young of St. Helens; a daughter, Tiffany Green of Eugene; foster children Leonard Kamps and Issac Reynolds, both of Newport; a brother, David Cook of Columbia City; and three grandchildren.
Service was held at Bateman Funeral Home on Tuesday. Interment was in Eureka Cemetery in Newport. Bateman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond Fieber

Raymond Charles Fieber, 95, of Toledo died at Newport Rehabilitation & Specialty Care Center on April 28, 1999.
He was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada on Dec. 8, 1903 to Andrew and Anna Mathias Fieber. He had been a resident of Toledo for the past 67 years.
He married his wife, Lurena, in Oceanlake on May 26, 1931. For 45 years, he was employed by Texaco as an oil distributor in Toledo. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siletz.
Survivors include his wife, Lurena, of Newport; daughters Evelyn Madsen of Canby and Diana Stastny of Malin; a son, Robert Fieber of Otis; a brother, Herman Fieber of Toledo; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association. Bateman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Joyce Hall

Dorothy Joyce Hall, 75, of Newport died of heart failure at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport on May 4, 1999.
She was born in Point Richmond, Calif. on March 15, 1923 to Charles and Dorothy Woods Curryer. She moved to the Oregon coast during childhood. She graduated from Reedsport High School, married Wilburn Hall and moved to Newport in 1941.
Mrs. Hall was active in the community with singing and club activities, the fishing community, First Christian Church and schools. She was a leader in Christian Endeavor and 4-H sewing, entomology and photography. After her children were reared, she nursed several years at Pacific Communities Hospital, specializing in maternity.
She was a volunteer for many causes, including the Newport Boosters Club athletic projects and auctions. She was also a supporter of the Newport middle and high school band programs.
She took in foster children, and served on the board of the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport prior to the building of the facility; she then retired from the board. She had recently returned to serve on the board and was a trustee for the Oregon Christian Convention in Turner.
Survivors include her husband, Wilburn, of Newport; sisters MariLynn Brinton of Davis, Calif. and Bonnie George of Salome, Ariz.; a brother, David Conn of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters Bonnie Elerding, Janet Long and Margaret Hall-Nelsen; a son, Vern Hall; grandchildren Daniel Nelson, Trisha Elerding, Melinda Hirsch, David Long, Evan and Ida Hall, George Hall and Elizabeth Nelsen; and a great-grandchild, Tyler Cannon-Nelson, 7. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Thomas; and a brother, Philip Carlin.
A celebration of life will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, Newport. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Joyce Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the fund will be awarded each year to an outstanding graduating Newport High School senior in music. Checks should be made payable to Newport Band Boosters and mailed to Dennis Bartoldus, PO Box 1510, Newport.
