Faye M. McKay
Aug. 27, 1907 - July 5, 1999

Faye M. (Winchester) McKay, 91, of Albany died Monday.

She was born in Chicago to Leon and Nina (Thompson) Winchester. She grew up in the Philippines, where her parents were teachers to the natives, and in Berkeley, Calif.

She married Merle McKay June 1, 1930, in Berkeley. They moved to the Kentuck Inlet near North Bend in 1938, to Colton in 1959 and to Mt. Angel in 1968.

Mrs. McKay was a secretary for many years, starting at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in San Francisco. She worked for law firms, for Coos Bay Lumber Co., the Myrtles Dairy, the Coos County Juvenile Court, McLaren School and the Oregon Children's Services Department. She retired in 1977.

The McKays traveled extensively in the western United States and in Canada and Mexico. They also participated in extensive Bible study. Mr. McKay died Nov. 9, 1995.

Mrs. McKay enjoyed animals and had many pets over the years.

Surviving are daughter Karyl Carlson of Albany; son John of Marvel, Colo.; five grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. Brothers Clarence and Douglas Winchester and niece Claire died earlier.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Unger Funeral Chapel, 190 Railroad Ave., Mt. Angel. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Colton Pioneer cemetery in Colton.

Contributions in Mrs. McKay's memory may be made to the Humane Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Richard G. Spradlin
March 11, 1940 - July 4, 1999

SWEET HOME - Richard Glenn Spradlin, 59, of Sweet Home died Sunday at Lebanon Community Hospital.

He was born in San Bernardino, Calif., to Themis and Beatrice (Wilson) Spradlin. He grew up in the Los Angeles area.

Mr. Spradlin served in the Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed in Hawaii.

He married Ruth Goodwin Feb. 6, 1965, in Las Vegas, and they moved to Sweet Home in 1975.

Mr. Spradlin worked for the Evangelical Church as a grounds and maintenance man for eight years. Recently he had worked at Lebanon Lumber Co., as a security guard, through Initial Security Co.

Fond of working in the yard and reading, he belonged to Cornerstone Fellowship and loved the Lord. He was known for his sense of humor.

Surviving are wife Ruth; sons Willy and Jeff, both of Sweet Home, and Greg of Lebanon; mother and stepfather Beatrice and Kenneth Miltimore of California; brothers Bob of Palm Springs, Calif., and Don; and 10 grandchildren. His father died in the 1980s.

Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lewis cemetery, with Pastor Randy Freeman officiating.

Contributions in Mr. Spradlin's memory may be made to the account of Richard and Ruth Spradlin at the Sweet Home branch of the Linn-Benton Bank.

Hazel I. Stearns
Nov. 8, 1910 - June 29, 1999

SCIO - Hazel I. Stearns, 88, of Scio died June 29 at Santiam Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Dover Center, Ohio, to Herbert and Mary (Chapien) Ingersoll. She married Leo G. Stearns Jan. 13, 1955. Mr. Stearns died in 1968.

Mrs. Stearns enjoyed horseback riding, traveling and spring training baseball.

Surviving are son Robert and his wife Cece; nieces Nancy Frates of Augusta, Maine, and Sue McCloskey of Tehachapi, Calif.; brother George Ingersoll of Lakeworth, Fla.; and sister Pat Scott of Lakewood, Ohio. There are six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

At the request of Mrs. Stearns, there will be no services.

Richard O. Tuepker
Oct. 1, 1941 - July 4, 1999

Richard O. Tuepker, 57, of Albany died Sunday in Keizer.

He was born in Salem to Oliver and Marjorie (Hampton) Tuepker. He grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany Union High School in 1959. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He married Shirley Stauffer Sept. 18, 1966, in Albany.

Mr. Tuepker worked for Fort James Paper Products for 26 years and was a member of the Albany First Assembly of God. He enjoyed golfing and working in his yard and, most of all, loved his granddaughters.

Surviving are wife Shirley; son Rich of Keizer; daughter Heather Peterson of Selah, Wash.; sisters Phyllis Peterson of Toledo and Janet Adkins and Judy Bilyeu, both of Albany; and two granddaughters.

Mrs. Tuepker's funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Albany First Assembly of God, 2817 Santiam Highway. Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Chapel of the Gardens of Salem is handling arrangements.

Contributions in Mr. Tuepker's name may be made to the Albany First Assembly of God Mission Fund.

Phebe E. Falk
Oct. 27, 1918 - July 3,1999

Phebe E. Falk, 80, died Saturday at her Albany home.

She was born in Halsey to Warren and Gladys (Wade) Isom. She was a member of the pioneer Isom family who came to Brownsville in 1842.

Mrs. Falk attended schools in Halsey and Harrisburg and was involved in farming and ranching most of her life.

She married Omar Falk on Oct. 7, 1938, in Harrisburg. They lived in Halsey all their married life, except for six years when they lived on a cattle ranch in British Columbia.

Mrs. Falk moved to the Mennonite Village in Albany when her husband died in 1989.

She was a lifelong member of the Halsey Christian Church and became a member of the Grace Bible Fellowship after moving to Albany. She was also a volunteer at the Mennonite Village.

Surviving are son Noel Falk of Halsey; daughters Diane Parker of Albany and Marcelle Smith of Brownsville; brothers Wade E. Isom of Harrisburg and Robert C. Isom of Lebanon; and sister Kay McKinnon of Albany; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Bible Fellowship, 33990 McFarland Road, with Pastors Don Bayne and Ed Reister officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Bible Fellowship Building Fund or Evergreen Hospice in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore. 97321.

Gary Wallace Pratt
Sept. 25, 1934 — Nov. 24, 2005

Gary Wallace Pratt, 71, died Thursday, Nov. 24, at his home in Waldport (Bayshore) after an extended illness.

He was born in Centralia, Wash., to Betty Marie Shawver and Wallace Raymond Pratt. In 1944, Gary and his family moved to Yakima, Wash., where he received his education.

He married Marilyn Wurl on Nov. 24, 1954, in Yakima.

Gary was involved in auto sales from 1954 to 1961 in Yakima. He moved to Corvallis in 1961, where he remained in auto sales until 1978. His extensive training and experience led him to achieve many top sales awards as the sales manager/general manager of Kerns Motor Company, Signer Motors, Paul’s Auto Workstat and Slauson Ford, Independence. He was owner/manager of two small used car lots, and owned and operated Kimo’s Drive Inn on Ninth Street during 1972 and 1973.

He moved to Waldport (Bayshore) in 1978 and in 1980 began a new career in real estate with Waldport Realty. He retired in 1998. While at Waldport Realty, he was recognized as top producer many times and was well known along the Oregon Coast.

Gary loved hunting, fishing, crabbing, camping and spending time at his cabin, “Pratt’s Place,” on the Alsea River. In his later years, he enjoyed watching western movies and football on TV, and having visitors and phone calls.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marilyn; daughter Pam Burright and husband Kent of Corvallis; son Jeff Pratt and wife Debbie of Corvallis; grandchildren Kevin Burright, Kristy Burright and Tammy Pratt; great-grandchildren Brittney and Brody; brother Lane Pratt and wife Shirlee of Olympia, Wash.; sister Myrna Halverson and husband Joe of Whitehall, Mont.; a large extended family, and numerous friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church (just north of the bridge), 38 Bayview Road, Waldport. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 2458, Waldport, OR 97394, or the Seal Rock Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 220, Seal Rock, OR 97376.

Daniel 'Dan' Wayne Ealy

June 11, 1956 - June 4, 2004

Daniel "Dan" Wayne Ealy, 47, of Brownsville died Friday.

He was born in Butte, Mont., the son of Everett William and Theresa Marie Guy Ealy.

He moved with his family to Lebanon in 1991, and to Brownsville in 1993.

Daniel was an inventor and developed a technique in which mill waste can be used for the bedding of horses and cattle.

He and his wife owned The Energy Connection, currently located in Sweet Home and set to relocate to Brownsville.

Daniel was a member of the Brownsville branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked a great deal with the youth of the church.

He loved his family and truly made time for each one of them. Daniel also loved water skiing and race cars.

He was the "get in and make things happen" guy. His presence was felt and his spirit will be missed. He was the love of DeEtte's life and an adoring father. He served the Lord with all of his heart.

He is survived by his wife, DeEtte Wandtke Ealy, who he married on March 15, 1990 in the Salt Lake Temple; sons Nicholas and Jonathan, both of Brownsville, and Jeremy of Illinois; daughters Elizabeth, Jessica and Tabitha, all of Brownsville; foster mother Wilma Link of Illinois; and a brother, Everett Ealy Jr., of Illinois.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Lebanon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Vault interment will follow at Brownsville Pioneer cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Key Bank to be deposited to the account of Elizabeth Ealy and used as a college fund for all of the children. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

E. LoRay Hannah
April 17, 1925 - July 10, 2004

E. LoRay Hannah, 79, of Albany died Saturday afternoon at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

Born Ethel LoRay Frum in Brownsville to Ray and Edith (Cooper) Frum, LoRay was raised on the Frum family homestead, a century farm handed down by pioneers who settled there in the late 1860s.

LoRay's father brought horses from eastern Oregon and broke them on the farm. She loved riding them both at home and at the Crawfordsville Rodeo where she was named Princess in 1942.

After graduating as class valedictorian in 1943 from Shedd High School, LoRay began working as an accountant at Silver Wheel Motor Freight in downtown Albany.

She soon met returned serviceman Robert S. Hannah at a dance, and after many heartfelt letters and a couple years of courting, they were married on Sept. 1, 1946.

LoRay left Silver Wheel in 1956 to work for Wah Chang, where she was an accountant for 36 years. LoRay was very good at poetry and skilled at needlepoint, but most of all she enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting deer and panning for gold with Bob.

She also loved camping with him throughout the Northwest and Alaska and they traveled all over the United States and Canada together.

LoRay especially enjoyed working in her flower garden and loved spending time with her two great-granddaughters.

She was very grateful for the expert care she received recently at the Corvallis hospital and her family wishes to thank all the skilled doctors, nurses and other staff of the intensive care unit for their kindness and dedicated efforts.

LoRay is survived by her husband, Bob Hannah of Albany; sons and daughters-in-law Terry and Polly Hannah of Albany, and Larry "Butch" and Donna Hannah of Lacomb; grandson Cory Hannah; granddaughter Casey and husband Philip Gauntlett, all of Albany; grandson Larry Hannah Jr.; granddaughter Jensyghne Hannah, all of Lacomb; and great-granddaughters Shelby Hannah and Charlie Gauntlett.

LoRay was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Frum and her great-grandson, Mason Gauntlett.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandridge cemetery in Albany (east of I-5 and three miles south of highway 34, off Steckly Road).

Linda Lea Ebert
June 8, 1949 - July 5, 2004

Linda Lea Ebert, 55, of Albany died July 5.

She was born in Vancouver, Wash., to James and Martha McElintor Gavin.

She is survived by her husband Terance Ebert of Albany; children Jennille Knox of Kenmore, Wash., and Kris Martin of Aloha; and sister Sally Eklund of Ridgefield, Wash.

A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kiwanis Hall in Battleground, Wash.

DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Russell L. Wirt
Nov. 30, 1914 - Aug. 10, 2004

Russell L. Wirt, 89, of Bend died Tuesday at St. Charles Medical Center.

He was born in Lacomb, to John W. Wirt and Gertrude F. (Raines) Wirt. He grew up and attended school in Lacomb.

Russell married Maybelle (Phillips) Wirt on Aug. 27, 1936, in Albany. They also lived in Lacomb, Lebanon and Bend.

During his life, Russell worked for many years as a logger and personally built 14 homes. He also owned several retail outlet stores, professionally roofed, and developed a mobile home park in Bend.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved raising a home garden.

Russell is survived by his wife, Maybelle of Bend; sons Robert and Dennis Wirt of Bend; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Tucker of Corvallis; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil and Raymond Wirt, and sister Velma Weigel.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Lacomb cemetery Association, 41315 Conser Hills, Lebanon, OR 97355.
