Mildred Glade

Cryptside services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Valley View Memorial Park and Masoleum, Newberg, for Mildred Eva Glade, 85, of Sherwood.
She died Nov. 21, 2004 en route to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin.
Mrs. Glade was born the daughter of Charles E. and Eva J. (Moore) Bradley) on Oct. 1, 1919 in Burns. She graduated from Crane High School, a boarding school near Burns. Her family moved to Wallowa County, where she met and married Elvyn Lively. After World War II, they moved to Florence, where he was killed in a logging accident.
She and her children lived in Hubbard and Woodburn until she was married to Ernest Glade on July 5, 1954. They lived in Sherwood, where he worked at the post office and she was a homemaker. She also worked for the Sherwood Cannery and the 88 Cent Store.
In retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Glade enjoyed fishing trips. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the Sherwood Senior Center. She was an avid Portland Trail Blazers fan, and also liked jigsaw puzzles and playing solitaire.
Mrs. Glade was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 1998, and by her brother, Edward “Brad” Bradley.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Lively, and his wife, Susan, of Tualatin; her daughter, Judy Eide, of Portland; sister Naomi Johnson and her husband Sune of Wilsonville; sister Edith Elsner and her husband, Ivan, of Tigard; five granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken Vanden Hoek, pastor of Sherwood Community Friends Church, officiated at the service. Attrell’s Sherwood Funeral Chapel was in care of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sherwood Senior Center in care of Attrell’s, 280 N.W. First, Sherwood, OR 97140.

Loren `Butch' Flomer

Loren "Butch" Flomer, of Wilsonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the age of 76.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Community of Hope Lutheran Church in Wilsonville.

He was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Linn, Kan., and later came to Oregon with his family. After graduating from Albany High School, he served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II.

In 1950, he earned a degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University, where he was a member and president of Sigma Nu fraternity.

In 1953, he moved to Woodburn to join the family business, later purchasing it from his father-in-law, Walter Schuler. He owned and operated Flomer Furniture & Appliance until selling the store to his son, Thomas, in 1990.

In 1990 Flomer had acquired Doughty's, a retail appliance store chain based in Southwest Portland, and in 1996 received the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award for this business.

Flomer served on the Woodburn Planning Commission, was a past president of the Woodburn Jaycees, and was a recipient of the Woodburn DSA Junior First Citizen Award. He also served as chairman of Woodburn's 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee Celebration, and was a founding director of the Woodburn Industrial Development Corp.

Recently, he had been a trustee of the OSU Foundation, served on the board of Tukwila Partners and was president of the Don J. Burlingham Foundation, a charitable trust.

Survivors include his wife, Ardath of Wilsonville; sons, Thomas of Woodburn, Mike McKennon of Lake Oswego and Scott McKennon of Alaska; daughters, Sandra Volk of Battleground, Wash., and Cindy Miller of Portland; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the OSU Foundation.

Margaret Adams

Funeral services for Margaret Edna Balzer Adams, 82, were held Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Community of Hope Lutheran Church in Wilsonville. Graveside services followed at Sunset Memorial Park in Portland. She died Nov. 25, 2004.
She was born Margaret Edna Pilblad on June 8, 1922 in Boise, Idaho. This long time member of the PEO Sisterhood has lived in the Portland metro area 12 years.
Survivors include two sons: Karl V. Balzer of Tualatin and John R. Balzer of Arvada, Colo. and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Elmer Walter Balzer, who died in 1987, and Stanley B. Adams, who died in 1998. Remembrances can be made to the American Heart Association.

Margot Sinclair

Charbonneau resident Margot Sinclair died July 27, 2001, of cancer. She was 64.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego, with burial at Sacred Heart cemetery in Lake Oswego.
Mrs. Sinclair was born June 1, 1937, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her maiden name was Clermont. She lived in Piedmont, Calif., for many years before moving to Charbonneau in 1998.
She was a member of the Corpus Christi Parish in Piedmont, and also was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the ACCMA Women's Auxiliary and the Children's Home Society. She enjoyed playing bridge, tennis and golf.
Survivors include her husband, Colin Sinclair M.D.; daughters, Carolyn Gordon of Piedmont, Calif., Janie Beyrle and Diane Landgraf, both of Lake Oswego, Margie Wilson of Lincolnshire, Ill., and Mary Ann Pas of San Diego; a son, Don, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and 17 grandchildren.
Remembrances may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Wilsonville was in care of arrangements.

Michael Dale Walker
June 27, 1972 - December 23, 2004

Michael Dale Walker, 32, of Aumsville died Dec. 23.
He was born in Oregon and lived here his entire life. He graduated from Cascade High School in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1991 to 1993 during the Desert Storm War. He worked as a welder for 13 years and was a bullfighter for five years.
He loved fishing, dancing and spending time with his family, especially his daughter. He enjoyed camping, horseback riding and telling stories.
Survivors include his daughter, Bryanna Walker of Aumsville; parents, Dale and Arlene Walker of Aumsville; and brother and sister-in-law, Darian and Tami Walker of Lyons.
Services were held at Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton. Interment was at Twin Oaks cemetery, Turner. Remembrances: Oregon High School Rodeo Association.

Eddie L. Smith

Eddie Lee Smith, a longtime resident of St. George, Utah, who moved to Wilsonville in July 2001, died Nov. 7, 2001. He was 84.
He was born Aug. 1, 1907, in Tulsa, Okla., he survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor as a member of the U.S. Navy. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
A sheet metal worker, in his free time he enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are his wife, Yeteve, of Wilsonville; daughters, Rebecca Gentry of Las Vegas and Karen Wilson of Wilsonville; a son, Gordon, of Salt Lake City; sisters, Inez Searle of Salt Lake City and Josephine McCreary of Prescott, Ariz.; a brother, Vevie Dee of Draper, Utah; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Wilsonville was in care of arrangements.

Delores Madrid
June 3, 1944 - January 31, 2005

Delores “Lois” Madrid, 60, of Scio died Jan. 31.
She was born in Durant, Okla. She lived most of her adult life in the Stayton area. She worked at Philips Industries in Stayton for five years.
She enjoyed gardening, camping and collecting rocks.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Shannon Madrid II of Fort Bragg, N.C.; mother, Lillian Womack of Stayton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Edward Breshears of Mill City, Denise and David “Skip” Lott of LaPine and Dorthy and Rosevelt Summerlin of Scio; brothers and sisters-in-law, D.J. and Jean Womack of Mill City, Dwain and Glada Womack of Scio, David and Becky Womack of Stayton; former husband, Stephen “Charley” Madrid I of Mill City; and grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan and Kaitlyn Madrid of Fort Bragg.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Weddle Funeral Home, 1777 N. Third Ave., Stayton. Interment is at Lone Oak II, Stayton. Remembrances: American Cancer Society.

Marjorie James

Marjorie Achen James died Oct. 30, 2001, in her Wilsonville residence surrounded by her family and her caregiver.
A memorial service was held Nov. 8, at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. James was born Oct. 5, 1908, in Oak Park, Ill., where she grew up in the same neighborhood as Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway. At Ohio's Denison University, where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma, she met David W. James. They were married March 30, 1935, and had 65 years together until his death in April 2000.
With the hectic schedule of her husband's medical practice, she assumed primary responsibility for their sons, Timothy and David Jr. Before settling in Lake Oswego in 1947, she drove the boys across the country twice to accommodate their father's wartime schedule.
She was a member of Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and she and her husband had been active in a Mariner's Group. They also were members of the Oswego Lake Country Club where she played golf.
She also was a member of the Lake Grove Garden Club, P.E.O., and the Multnomah Medical Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint and knitting.
Following her husband's retirement, the couple moved to Arizona. They returned to Oregon where they lived at Salishan until 1991, when they moved into SpringRidge at Charbonneau.
She is survived by her sons; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Remembrances may be made to her church.

Debra Lynn Taylor

Debra Lynn Taylor of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Aurora, died Aug. 2, 2004. She was 49.
Gardner Funeral Services of White Salmon is coordinating funeral arrangements.
She was born March 17, 1955, in Roosevelt, Wash., and was raised on a 5,000-acre sheep ranch along the Columbia River. She learned to ride before she could walk.
She attended Goldendale High School. She was raised in a rodeo family, and she barrel raced and roped in competitions across the country.
She moved to Aurora in 1980. She was active in the Canby Barrel Racing Club for several years, and she galloped race horses at the Canby fairgrounds.
She is survived by children Jeremy Cronenwett of Kennewick, Wash., Joshua Taylor of Aurora, and Cheyenne Taylor of Vancouver, Wash.; and brother Darren Goree of White Salmon, Wash.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Ray Hickey Hospice House, 2112 E. Mill Plain, P.O. Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668.

Jesse Ray Yeley
June 1, 1929 - December 22, 2004

Jesse Ray Yeley, 75, of Scio died Dec. 22.
He was born in Minten, Texas. He moved to Marion in 1970 from Concord, Calif., and to Scio in 1974. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea. He worked for more than 20 years as a heating and air conditioner technician, lastly at the Naval Weapons Station in Concord.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and traveling, especially to Yuma, Ariz., in the winter. He also enjoyed doing crafts, especially creating clay figurines. He was an artist and could create art from nature. He played the guitar, could play many instruments by ear and wrote many songs. He enjoyed feeding the quails at his house everyday.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His wife, Novella Carr, whom he married on Dec. 15, 1961, survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and step-sister, Mildred Lesmister of Salem.
Graveside services were held at Lone Oak cemetery, Stayton. Remembrances: Disabled American Veterans, 1220 S.W. Third Ave., No. 1692, Portland, OR 97204. Arrangements: Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton.
