Malcolm Kay Blohn
May 14, 2006

Malcolm Kay Blohn, 77, died May 14, 2006, at a Downers Grove, Illinois hospital of an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Blohn of Wilsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Michael Falcioni of Terrebonne; grandchildren, Kevin, Jacob and Samuel Blohn of Wilsonville.
Viewing is from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home, Salem. Memorial services are set for 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 600 State St., Salem.

Hubert Marion Averette
October 9, 1943 - May 9, 2006

Hubert Marion Averette, 62, of Salem died May 9.
He was born in Salem to Hugh and Mabel Averette. He grew up in Silverton and graduated from Silverton High School in 1961. In 1965, he graduated from Oregon College of Education with a bachelor of arts.
While at OCE, he met and married Janice Kathleen Kelland. She preceded him in death on April 25, shortly before their June 16 40th wedding anniversary.
He taught at Central High School, North Howell, Gervais and Chemawa, and substituted for the Salem-Keizer School District. He worked for Norpac Foods for several years, retiring last October.
He loved music, singing and art.
Interment was at Silverton cemetery. Cards or donations may be sent to Unger Funeral Chapel, 229 Mill St., Silverton, OR 97381.

David R. Moles
September 16, 1935 - March 6, 2006

David R. Moles, 70, of Sublimity died March 6.
He was born in Watson, Mo. He grew up in Scotts Mills and attended Molalla schools. He began work for Hogg Brothers as an appliance repairman. In 1964, he moved to John Day, where he worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1970, he opened Moles Appliance in Keizer.
He moved to Montana in 1984, where he enjoyed building drift boats. He returned to Oregon in 1996, settling in Bend, where he opened another appliance store. He returned to the Willamette Valley in 1999.
He loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing and snow skiing. He had attended Keizer Faith Lutheran Church, and most recently was a member of Silverton First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna Moles of Sublimity; daughters, Carol Thompson of John Day and Connie Toelle of Burns; sons, David of Bend, Donald of John Day, Timothy of Sumpter, Ore., and Scott of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Raymond, Rex and Randy, all of John Day, and Richard of Silverton; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Silverton First Christian Church. Private family interment was held. Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.

Mary A. Davis
November 30, 1929 - February 26, 2006

Mary A. Davis, 76, of Silverton died Feb. 26.
She was born in Valley Center, Kan. She served in the U.S. Air Force just after the end of World War II.
She and her husband, Vern, were residents of Ocean Shores, Wash., after their retirement from Boeing. They owned and operated Sweats ‘n Things and A&E; Interiors in the Catala Mall in Ocean Shores.
She was an accomplished cross-stitcher, a successful fisherman and an award-winning bowler.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and David Dunmire of Silverton; and sister-in-law, Doris Thompson of Shelton, Wash.
Graveside services were held at Evergreen Memorial Park, Vancouver, Wash. Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.

Janice Joy Maurer
May 21, 1952 - March 9, 2006

Janice Joy Maurer, 53, of Mount Angel died March 9 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Silverton to Henry and Doris Burkhart. She lived her entire life in the Silverton and Mount Angel areas.
She married Tom Maurer on June 6, 1970, in Mount Angel.
She enjoyed antiques, traveling and baking.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Lea Reinsch of Philomath and Chrissy Butsch of Mount Angel; brother, Larry Burkhart of Silverton; and grandchildren, Arin, Julia, Lewis and Catherine.
Services were held at Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton. Interment was at Miller cemetery. Remembrances: Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Lela N. Wyatt
December 8, 1911 - March 2, 2006

Lela N. Wyatt, 94, of Woodburn died March 2.
She was born in Yakima, Wash., to James and Estella Underwood. She lived in the Woodburn and Silverton area since 1967.
She enjoyed gardening and traveling to Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Frank Wyatt, in 1994.
Survivors include her daughter, Novajean C. Morgan of Woodburn; son, James Thisius of Yakima; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held at Miller cemetery, Silverton. Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.

Virginia L. Frank
January 21, 1933 - March 8, 2006

Virginia L. Frank, 73, of Aumsville died March 8 in Portland.
She was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Edwin F. and Florence E. (Wilson) Ruby. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Stayton area, where she was raised and educated.
She married Melvin Hall in 1951 in Vancouver, Wash. She was a homemaker, raising the five children who were born to the marriage. The marriage later ended.
She worked for a time for the American Title Company, and later as a secretary at Stayton Canning Co.
She married Victor Frank on May 28, 1977, in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death in April 1993. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
She enjoyed quilting, doll making, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children and in-laws, Steve and Denise Hall of Mill City, Michael and Sherry Hall of Stayton, Kevin and Michele Hall of Lyons, Bryan and Debbie Hall of Jefferson and Kathy and Joe Wainman of Scio; brother, Bob Ruby of Vancouver; sister, Betty Regel of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at St. Boniface Catholic cemetery, Sublimity. Remembrances: American Cancer Society or Hopewell House of Portland. Arrangements: Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton.

Clarence K. Mellbye
April 3, 1924 - February 25, 2006

Dr. Clarence K. Mellbye, 81, of Salem died Feb. 25.
He was born in Kuest, Saskatchewan. He began his education in Saskatchewan and moved with his family to Silverton when he was in the second grade. Upon graduating from Silverton High School, he attended Linfield College for one year before entering the Armed Services in February 1943.
Prior to going overseas, he married Marjorie Kendrick in San Francisco, Calif., and they were married for 62 years.
After World War II, he completed his college education and obtained a master’s degree at Linfield College. He was awarded a doctorate of education at Oregon State University. During his many years in public education, he was a teacher, coach, mentor and administrator.
He served as director of rehabilitation for the State of Oregon, followed by an assignment at the State Department of Education, where he was in charge of NW Accreditation and Private and Vocational Schools.
Survivors include his wife; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Gary Erickson of San Diego, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Diana Mellbye of Salem; sister, Ruth Meskel of Portland; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. March 11 at Virgil T. Golden Mortuary, Salem. Remembrances: Linfield College Athletic Department, McMinnville, Ore., or Willamette Valley Hospice.

David R. Moles
September 16, 1935 - March 6, 2006

David R. Moles, 70, of Sublimity died March 6.
Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton. Service are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Silverton First Christian Church. Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.

Delmar Joseph Richard
April 8, 1915 - March 12, 2006

Delmar Joseph Richard, 90, of Silverton died March 12.
He was born in Keiler, Wash., to John and Caroline (Weiderholt) Richard. He worked as a school teacher for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Richard; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marlee Richard of Bellvue, Wash.; son, Thomas Richard of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; sister, Vera Richard of Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, Carrie Richard and Brian Guggino and Anne Richard and Jeff Royal; and great-grandchildren, Owen and Elena Royal.
No services were held. Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.

Mary Cecilia Terlecki
June 10, 1910 - March 9, 2006

Mary Cecilia Terlecki, 95, of Silverton died March 9.
She was born in Sullivan, Ind., to Anthony and Apolina Kushak. She moved to Silverton from Portland in 1972.
She was a member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and visiting with people.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Terlecki, in 1969.
Survivors include her daughter, Cecilia of Silverton; son, William of Silverton; grandchildren, Allen, Gary and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Kaeden.
Services were held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Silverton. Interment was at Mount Calvary cemetery, Portland. Arrangements: Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.
