Allen Miller Sr.

He was born in McAlister, Okla. on Jan. 19, 1929 to Allen H. and Viola B. Terrell Miller. He had been a resident of Newport since 1962.
Survivors include his mother, Viola Weis of Newport; sons Allen Miller Jr. of Toledo and Justin Miller of Newport; daughters Rhonda Bruns of Newport, Sandy Kauffman of Logsden, Abby Miller of Milwaukie and Annie Miller of Newport; a sister, Laurel Gaut of Missouri; and 14 grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Bateman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Patrick Sullivan

He was born in Lakeview on Oct. 30, 1964 to Michael and Deanna Sullivan.
He was active in many programs in middle and high school, was named to the honor roll, and was score keeper for seventh grade basketball and was varsity basketball manager. He also won academic achievement awards, was named to “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” for the 1991-92 year, and won multiple Trico business awards in high school. He graduated from Oregon State University, Corvallis, in 1988.
He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau and Phi Kappa Psi fraternities.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Deanna Sullivan of Waldport; a brother, Daniel Sullivan of Albany; a sister, Valerie Fehringer of Redding, Calif.; nephews Casey Sullivan of Albany and Brian Fehringer of Redding, Calif.; and nieces Kayla Fehringer of Redding, Calif. and Kelsey Sullivan of Albany.
Services have taken place. Donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society Camp “UKANDU” for kids, 800-227-2345.

John Abbott

He was born in Kansas on Aug. 31, 1908.
He served in the United States Marine Corps before retiring in 1953, and moved to Waldport with his wife, Jane. He worked at Angell Job Corps from 1965 to 1970. He helped build several state parks.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Sobolewski; sons Lee Abbott and Bill Abbott; a granddaughter, Beth Clark of Waldport; and 17 other grandchildren.

Theresa Gray

She was born in Dixon, Calif. on April 30, 1948 to Charles P. and Bessie “Betty” Estell King.
She married Wayne Gray in Carson City, Nev. on Aug. 8, 1975. For the past three years, she had owned and operated her business, “Maid To Order.” She had been a resident of Yachats since 1990.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne; her mother, Betty King of Redmond; a daughter, Dawn Skrinzinski of Juneau, Alaska; two brothers and four sisters.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Disposition is by cremation, with Bateman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Wesley

She was born in Portland on April 7, 1912 to Frederick Reilly and Mabel (Dowdell) Campbell.
She married John A. Wesley in Portland on May 7, 1932. They moved to Waldport in 1969. He preceded her in death in October 1997.
She was a homemaker for most of her 65 years of marriage, but worked as a seamstress and in retail clothing sales for a few years.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan E. Wesley of Waldport; her companion, Robert L. Baker of Lincoln City; and grandchildren Sara Ann Carpenter and her husband, David, of Safety Harbor, Fla. and Philip Wesley Trom of Ventura, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at a later time. Disposition is by cremation. Contributions are suggested to Pacific Communities Hospice in Newport.

Allen Miller Sr.

He was born in McAlister, Okla. on Jan. 19, 1929 to Allen H. and Viola B. Weis Miller. He had been a resident of Newport since 1962. For most of his life, he was a cattle rancher.
Survivors include his mother, Viola Miller of Newport; sons Allen Miller Jr. of Toledo and Justin Miller of Newport; daughters Rhonda Bruns of Newport, Sandy Kauffman of Logsden, Abby Miller of Milwaukie and Annie Miller of Newport; a sister, Laurel Gaut of Missouri; and 14 grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Bateman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Delbert "Del" Hodges

Delbert "Del" Lloyd Hodges, 59, of Eddyville died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis on Dec. 14, 1999.
He was born in Toledo on June 14, 1940 to George and Genevia Truitt-Hodges.
He graduated from high school in 1958 and attended Oregon State University, Corvallis; he studied fine arts at a school in Hollywood, Calif., and finished his master of fine arts degree at OSU.
His artwork is exhibited throughout the world, his most well-known pieces are the doe and fawn sculpture in front of the Salem Library, and the flock of geese sculpture at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. He sculpted many owls, eagles and other wildlife.
He enjoyed hunting and art work. He was able to do many kinds of art, including painting and metal work.
Survivors include his daughters, Heather Carmichael of Eddyville and Ventura Guardino of Newport; a son, Alex Hodges of Gladstone; a brother, Wayne Hodges of Eddyville; his aunt and uncle, Florine and Winston McHenry of Kansas; his fiancee, Leonora Alutoya of the Philippines; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Hepatitis Foundation. Bateman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clifford Case Sr.

Clifford Willis Case Sr., 66, of Siletz, died at his home on April 23, 2001.
He was born Aug. 29, 1934 in Toppenish, Wash. to Clifford Calvin Case and Florence Marie Underwood-Case.
He was a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz and was passionate about tribal politics. He loved sports.
He was predeceased by his father and mother; sons Erin Stewart Case and Ivan (Case) Miller; a daughter, Venetia Case; and a grandson, Joshua Parr.
He is survived his wife of 11 years, Trina Case, of Siletz; a brother, Wayne Case Sr. of Siletz; a sister, LaVetta Cunningham of Yakima, Wash; daughters Ardella Parr and Shannon Case, both of Siletz, Jenett Case of Nisqually, Wash., and Pamela Case of Tacoma, Wash.; sons Reginald Case, Clifford Case Jr., LeRoy Case, and Levi Case, all of Siletz, and William Case-Cunningham of Yakima, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service at the Siletz Tribal Community Center, followed by a potluck dinner, is planned. Information on the date and time is available from the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians at 444-2532, or (800) 922-1399.

Nelda Clark

Nelda E. Clark, 85, a resident of Oceanview Retirement and Assisted Living Center in Newport, died April 15, 2004, of age-related illness.
She was born June 23, 1918, in Albany.
She was employed as a custodian for the Lincoln County School District for 22 years, and worked at Yaquina View Elementary School in Newport and Waldport Elementary School.
She was a member of the Newport Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and cake-making.
Survivors include her husband, Morris Clark; two daughters, Darline Smith of Siletz and Bethel Fogarty of Fair Oaks, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Barbara Lane of Eugene, Phyllis Park of Aloma, Calif., and Sheryl Clark of La Pine; a sister, Mary Lee Ely of Apache Junction, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Lynn Smith, Mark Smith, Les Smith, Diane Fogarty, and Jason Fogarty; seven great-grandchildren, Lynn Smith Jr., Thomas Smith, Jed Smith, Angela Smith, Sarah Smith, Kayla Britten, and Taylor Britten; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Sean, Elyssa, Courtney, Jeremy, Bailey, Ty, and Ryder. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Day, in 1985.
A memorial service was held April 20 at the Newport Church of the Nazarene, followed by interment at Eureka Cemetery in Newport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 1153, Newport, Ore. 97365. Bateman Funeral Home of Newport handled the arrangements.
