Ivan Lynn Curtis
The memorial service for Ivan Lynn Curtis will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brookhurst Building, Medford. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Curtis, 70, of Medford, died Sunday (Sept. 1, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Brewster, Kan. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Fort Morgan, Colo. On March 15, 1968, in Medford, he married Donna M. Lilly, who survives.

Mr. Curtis was a millworker at various plywood mills in the Rogue Valley area. For the last four years, he worked at the Goodwill Donation Center.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Curtis was a Mariner baseball fan and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Medford 2nd Ward.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Michael and Corey, both Medford, Kenn, Portland, and Darren, Sunnyside, Wash.; two daughters, Kelli Curtis, Phoenix, and Debbie Andreson, Yakima, Wash.; a brother, Francis L., Sumner, Wash.; two sisters, Esther Steele, Sumner, Wash., and Freida Evers, Cincinnati; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

June Florence Pruett
The funeral service for June Florence Pruett will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. Pastor David Howell of Talent Friends Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Garden of Honor at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Pruett, 81, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002) at Northridge Center in Medford.

She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Great Falls, Mont., to Edgar Lloyd and Ida Rebecca (Lee) Bryant. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1926. She attended Medford grade school and junior high and graduated from Ashland High School in 1939.

On Jan. 25, 1949, in Talent, she married Leslie N. Pruett, who died in 1999.

Mrs. Pruett was a sales clerk for J.J. Newberry’s, Woolworth’s and Metz & Richards. She also worked for the Talent Parks Commission.

During World War II, she worked with the inventory crew at Camp White counting GI socks.

Mrs. Pruett attended Friends Church. She was a member of the Talent Garden Club, Talent-Phoenix Home Extension, American Legion Auxiliary, Eight & Forty, and XYZ Exercise Club. She was a charter member of Family Community Education and a volunteer helper at Talent-Phoenix Grade School and the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary and was Memorial Poppy chairman.

Survivors include three nephews, Kenneth Dickson, Yamhill, Darrell Dickson, Redmond, and Keith Dickson, Tigard. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

James McCoy Robertson
The graveside service for James McCoy Robertson will be at 10 a.m. today at Eagle Point National cemetery. Pastor Larry Gibson of Gateway Christian Fellowship of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion.

Mr. Robertson, 83, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Aug. 31, 2002) at Royale Gardens Health Care Facility.

He was born July 16, 1919, in Bremerton, Wash. He was raised in Venice, Calif. On Dec. 5, 1970, in Las Vegas, he married Maria Vidal, who survives.

Mr. Robertson attended FBI school. He was a sergeant in Corona, Calif., and a patrolman in Oceanside, Calif. He later worked as a groundskeeper for the schools in Torrance, Calif., before his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He worked at the Navy shipyard as a blacksmith. He also served in the Merchant Marine.

Mr. Robertson served eight years on the Josephine County Water Resources Advisory Committee and was chairman of the Jones Creek Citizen Advisory Committee for many years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was the founder and president of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Rogue Valley Chapter.

Mr. Robertson attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Grants Pass.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Fremont M., Ridgefield, Wash.; a daughter, Venice Charlene Newling, Ridgefield, Wash.; a sister, Alleen Mae Lynch, Grants Pass; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

John Mayfield
The memorial service for John Mayfield will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rivers Valley Community Church. Pastor Jim Christian will officiate.

Mr. Mayfield, 69, of Grants Pass, died Monday (Sept. 2, 2002) at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the John Mayfield Memorial Scholarship, c/o Three Rivers School District, P.O. Box 160, Murphy, OR 97533.

He was born May 20, 1933, in Phoenix, Ariz. He moved to Grants Pass in 1946 from Riverside, Calif., and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1951.

Mr. Mayfield received a bachelor’s degree in dairy science from Oregon State University in 1955 and earned a master’s degree in 1957 from Massey Agricultural College in New Zealand as a Fulbright Scholar. He also attended the University of Oregon for his education certification.

On Sept. 2, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Grants Pass, he married Betty, who survives.

Mr. Mayfield worked for School District 7 as a vocational agriculture teacher, vocational director and assistant superintendent from 1962 to 1975. He moved to the Josephine County School District in 1976 as personnel director and became superintendent in 1982, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Oregon National Guard for 30 years, retiring as lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Mayfield was also a member of the Josephine County Young Farmers for many years. He was a member of the Grants Pass Lions Club, serving as president from 1978 to 1979, and was a member of the Grants Pass Elks Club.

He was a 45-year member of River Valley Community Church.

Mr. Mayfield enjoyed fishing in the Baja California area, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 48 years, include two sons, Duane "Duey, " Grants Pass, and David, Oregon City; two daughters, Diane Silberstein, Monmouth, and Debra Mayfield, Tualatin; and four grandchildren.

Esta ‘Peggy’ Stiles
The memorial service for Esta "Peggy" Stiles will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Rogue River. Pastor Harry Ayers will officiate. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mrs. Stiles, 77, of Rogue River, died Aug. 28, 2002, at Highland House Care Center in Grants Pass.

She was born April 5, 1925, in Vancouver, Wash., to Charles A. and Nellie (Frakes) Radspinner. She moved to Klamath Falls in 1945. On Oct. 14, 1946, in Reno, Nev., she married Horace "Babe" Stiles, who died in 1988. They moved to Rogue River in 1984.

Mrs. Stiles was a homemaker. While living in Klamath Falls, she worked as a waitress for several area restaurants.

She was a former member of the PTA and was a room mother while her children were in school.

Mrs. Stiles enjoyed cooking, painting with watercolors and oils and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Jill Stiles and Jackie Garcia, both Klamath Falls; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Evelyn ‘Peggy’ Mae Meadows
The graveside service for Evelyn "Peggy" Mae Meadows will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice in Medford will officiate.

Mrs. Meadows, 93, of Central Point, died Sunday (Sept. 1, 2002) at Alderwood Assisted Living in Central Point.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Evelyn Larm on April 19, 1909, in Island City. On Sept. 10, 1928, in Enterprise, she married Frank A. Meadows, who died in 1971. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1941 from Wallowa. She lived in Junction City from 1980 to 1997, when she returned to the Rogue Valley.

Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, needlework and sewing.

In Junction City, she was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Frank A. Jr., and Jesse "Bud, " both Central Point; a daughter, Helen Daniken, Gold Hill; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.

Alberta Beam Stone
The graveside service for Alberta Beam Stone will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland. Her grandson, Pastor John H. Stone, of Bethel Church in Richland, Wash., will officiate. The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in the L.C. Butler Room at Horton Plaza in Medford.

Mrs. Stone, 92, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002) at Farmington Square in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504, or Chapter CG PEO Sisterhood, c/o Margaret Brown, 1203 Queen Anne Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Dec. 21, 1909, in Charlotte, N.C., to Dr. Calvin M. and Coral Elizabeth (Shelton) Beam. She attended schools in Asheville, N.C., and graduated from the School of Home Economics at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro in 1930.

On June 8, 1932, in Asheville, N.C., she married J. Herbert Stone, who died in 1980.

Mrs. Stone taught school for two years in Franklin, N.C. After her marriage, she was a homemaker. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Portland.

During World War II, she served at the USO Canteen in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Stone was a member of Broadmore Women’s Club in Portland and the PEO in Portland and Medford.

She enjoyed sewing, dolls and bridge.

Survivors include a daughter, Coral Edwards, Medford; a son, Richard H. Stone, Kennewick, Wash.; a sister, Michaux Barry, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Robert S. Beam, Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Linns.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Michael Allen Eagles
Michael Allen Eagles, 50, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 2, 2002) at his home. A private service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 380 S.E. Spokane St., Suite 110, Portland, OR 97202.

He was born May 15, 1952, in Crescent City, Calif., to Edwin Earl and BettyJean (Bowie) Eagles. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978 from Crescent City. On Feb. 18, 1979, in Reno, Nev., he married Carla Cowan, who survives.

Mr. Eagles was a deputy sheriff in Del Norte County, Calif., retiring in 1978.

He was an artist and enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jason, Yuba City, Calif.; two daughters, Breanne and Melissa Eagles, both Medford; his mother, Betty Eagles, Bullhead City, Ariz.; two brothers, Edwin Jr., Medford, and James, Bullhead City, Ariz.; a sister, Johna Cholwell, Crescent City; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Laban L. ‘Sleepy’ Buoy
The graveside service for Laban Lenial "Sleepy" Buoy will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tenmile cemetery in Tenmile. The Rev. Charles Hughes will officiate.

Mr. Buoy, 89, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born June 7, 1913, in Creswell, to George Lenial and Minni Bell (Welch) Buoy. On Dec. 1, 1935, in Coquille, he married Bonnie Noah, who died in 1988.

Mr. Buoy was the road master for the Coos County Highway Department for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He moved to the Rogue Valley three years ago from the Coquille and Coos Bay area.

He attended Horizon Church of God in Coquille.

Mr. Buoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and music.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis, Central Point, and Darrell, Eagle Point; a daughter, Dorene Dungey, Gold Hill; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Conrad.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Martha ‘Bobbie’ Sikes
The memorial service for Martha "Bobbie" Sikes will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eagle Point National cemetery. The Rev. James Larson will officiate.

Mrs. Sikes, 88, of Eagle Point, died Oct. 25, 2002, at her home.

She was born May 30, 1914, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, to Thomas and Helen Boatwright.

Enid Orilla Workman
The memorial service for Enid Orilla Workman will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Inurnment will follow in Phoenix cemetery.

Mrs. Workman, 40, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 27, 2002) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born April 30, 1962, in Canyonville, to Frank and Dona (Fitzpatrick) Richey, and had lived in the Rogue Valley since she was a child. On Aug. 30, 1986, in Reno, Nev., she married Darren Workman, who survives.

Mrs. Workman was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for Three Fountains Nursing Care for five years. For the last nine years, she was an occupational therapy technician for Asante.

She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and horseback riding.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Tisha Workman, Ashland, and Rebecca Jo Workman, Medford; a son, Benjamin, Phoenix; her father and stepmother, Frank and Donna Richey, Sams Valley; two sisters, Patti Sander, Phoenix, and Susan Richey, Medford; two brothers, Bill Richey, Gold Hill, and Cameron Richey, Chiloquin; and six stepbrothers and stepsisters. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dona Richey.
