Myron B. Meehan
The funeral for Myron B. Meehan will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hull & Hull Chapel in Grants Pass. Pastor Bob Heisler will officiate. Interment will follow at Sparlin cemetery.

Mr. Meehan, 82, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Sept. 28, 2002) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Better Life Television, 1360 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Medford. On Aug. 17, 1947, in Medford, he married Betty-Jo Campbell, who survives. A longtime Medford resident, he moved to the Applegate Valley in 1947.

Mr. Meehan owned and operated Meehan’s Building Supply in Murphy from about 1950 to 1980.

He served in the U.S. Army as a medic for the 70th Division during the Battle of the Bulge and later during the Occupation. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Mr. Meehan served as an elder at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Williams. He was also a member of the Trailblazers Association.

He enjoyed his black Angus herd and working his farm.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Sharon Clary, Clackamas; a son, Randall, Grand Terrace, Calif.; a sister, Dorothea Bom, Medford; and a grandson.

Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Merry Dale Denison
The memorial service for Merry Dale Denison will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Dr. Debra Gordon will officiate.

Ms. Denison, 42, of Central Point, died Saturday (Sept. 28, 2002) at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501, or the Abdill-Ellis Foundation, c/o Providence Hospital, 1180 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born May 28, 1960, in Orange, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1973 from Anaheim, Calif.

Ms. Denison was a certified respiratory therapist for Providence Medical Center for 24 years. She was a registered respiratory therapist with a specialty in perinatal pediatric care.

She was an active member of the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Ms. Denison enjoyed her dog, Tucker.

Survivors include her companion, Melody Bnah, Central Point; her mother and stepfather, Karen Endsley-Loll and Keith Endsley, Central Point; her father and stepmother, Larry and Linda Denison, Rio Rancho, N.M.; three brothers, Robert McCurley, Central Point, Troy Denison, West Hollywood, Calif., and Terry Denison, Yukon, Okla.; three sisters, Holly Kyzer, San Clemente, Calif., Lisa McGee, Jenks, Okla., and Leslie Chavanne, Aloha; and her grandparents, Howard Rising, Central Point, Maggie Denison, Anaheim, Calif., and Freda Rising, Medford.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Alice E. Taylor
The graveside service for Alice E. Taylor will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Jim Cartwright of Bear Creek Church will officiate.

Mrs. Taylor, 90, of Central Point, died Sunday (Sept. 29, 2002) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504

She was born July 25, 1912, in Kennewick, Wash., one of 10 children born to Harry Edward and Florence Elizabeth (Cline) Hunt. The family moved to Grandview, Idaho, where she met Floyd Crispin Taylor. They were married Nov. 1, 1929, in Boise, Idaho. He died in 1978. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948 from Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker.

She was active in the Gold Hill Grange, where she served as secretary for many years. She also served as secretary for the seniors club in Gold Hill.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Central Point Ward.

She enjoyed her family, sewing, traveling and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Glen, Central Point; four daughters, Barbara, Central Point, Irita Clark, Grants Pass, Lola Day, Poulsbo, Wash., and Reba Payne, Quartzsite, Ariz.; four brothers, Paul Hunt, Ross Hunt, Donald Hunt and David Hunt; a sister, Sandra, Gold Hill; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Willard and Ernest; and a granddaughter.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Estell Fawn Cartwright
Estell Fawn Cartwright, 97, of Medford, died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 2002) at her home. A private service will be held at a later date. Interment was at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

She was born Estell Lucas on March 21, 1905, in Rudy, Ark. On Jan. 8, 1927, in Medford, she married Cleo M. Cartwright, who died in 1965. She moved to Eagle Point in 1945 and lived there for many years.

Mrs. Cartwright was a member of Eagle Point Community Bible Church.

She enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include a son, Robert, Medford; a daughter, Sharon Thompson, Springfield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Arlene Frances McDonnell
Arlene Frances McDonnell, 75, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 27, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

She was born July 23, 1927, in Oakland, Calif., to Archie and Iris Bickford. She graduated from high school in 1945. On Nov. 23, 1946, in Oakland, Calif., she married Harry Vincent McDonnell, who died in 1984.

Mrs. McDonnell worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, was an Avon lady, volunteered as an election official, worked in the school library and raised seven children. She lived most of her life in the Bay area. She moved to Los Molinos, Calif., in 1981, and to Medford in 1990.

She enjoyed league bowling, crafts and drawing.

Survivors include five sons, Michael, Medford, Timothy, Santa Clara, Calif., Patrick and Dennis, both San Jose, Calif., and Kevin, Campbell, Calif.; two daughters, Lynn, Medford, and Vickie, Yoncalla; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Bickford.

Andrew Harrison Peternell
Andrew Harrison Peternell, 64, of Gold Hill, died Thursday (Sept. 26, 2002) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 28, 1937, in San Diego, to Paul and Lydia Marion (Kittridge) Peternell.

Mr. Peternell was a meat cutter. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Sacramento, Calif.

He enjoyed playing the harmonica, singing, playing pool, fishing and cooking.

Survivors include a son, Andrew "Andy" H. Jr., Missoula, Mont.; a stepson, Darren Withrow, Citrus Heights, Calif.; three daughters, Connie Marie Gaar, Gold Hill, Robin Lorane Peternell, Applegate, and Victoria Louise Wiltermood, Olympia, Wash.; a brother, Lloyd Michael, in California; two sisters, Elva Virginia Cain, Athens, Texas, and Pauline Marion Colern, Victorville, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Anna Elizabeth Classick
Anna Elizabeth Classick, 96, of Rogue River, died Saturday (Sept. 28, 2002) at her home.

The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Rogue River Community Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue River Friends of the Library, 412 E. Main St., Rogue River, OR 97537.

Frederick D. McCullough
The graveside service for Frederick D. McCullough will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.
Mr. McCullough, 72, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 2, 2002) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Sept. 2, 1930, in Racine, Wis., to Henry and Evelyn McCullough. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1945 from Southern California and graduated from Gold Hill High School in 1947. On Sept. 18, 1950, in Medford, he married Stella Emery, who died in 1992.

He received a bachelor’s degree in business in 1965 from what is now Southern Oregon University.

Mr. McCullough retired in 1993 as a manager for Timber Products, after working approximately 35 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Japan.

Mr. McCullough enjoyed collecting things, especially cars, woodworking and building things.

Survivors include four children, Kathy McCullough and Teri Wilsie, both Central Point, Cheryl Poindexter, Vancouver, Wash., and Tim, Medford; and two grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dee; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Raleigh Myron Allen
Raleigh Myron Allen, 86, of Butte Falls, died Thursday (Oct. 3, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private committal service will be held at Eagle Point National cemetery.

He was born Feb. 24, 1916, in Shoals, Ind., to Jesse and Jane Allen. On Dec. 19, 1950, in Las Vegas, he married Martha W. Judson, who survives. He moved to Grants Pass in 1950, where he lived for 20 years. He moved to Washington, then to Butte Falls in 1987.

Mr. Allen was a timber faller until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star, and was the company commander by the end of the war.

Mr. Allen enjoyed ocean fishing, riding motorcycles, water-skiing and sports.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister, Alice Kefe, Talent. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roland, Newton and Robert; and a sister, Mary Romeo.

Geraldine A. Thomas
The graveside service for Geraldine A. Thomas will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. Pastor Russ Millsaps will officiate.

Ms. Thomas, 84, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2002) at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Kalama, Wash. She moved to Grants Pass 45 years ago from Eugene. She received a master’s degree from what is now Southern Oregon University.

Ms. Thomas was a substitute teacher at Grants Pass High School and Fleming Middle School from 1971 until 1978. She was the co-owner and operator of Beaver State Realty and worked as a realtor.

She enjoyed painting in oil and watercolor, travel, photography, clam digging and crabbing.

Survivors include a daughter, Manya Beatty, Phoenix; two sons, Dennis Scofield, Central Point, and Jim Sulewski, Tacoma, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Scofield.

Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Services, Grants Pass.

Donald Howie
The funeral for Donald Howie will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Grants Pass. Pastors Betty Steward and Terry Isabell will officiate. Interment will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, Grants Pass.

Mr. Howie, 73, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (Nov. 6, 2002) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity or Lovejoy Hospice, c/o Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, 2065 Upper River Road, Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Danville, Ill. On June 26, 1953, in San Gabriel, Calif., he married Barbara Case, who survives.

During the Korean War, Mr. Howie served in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

He enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, gardening and fishing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Cynthia Howie, Grants Pass, and Donna Howie, Vacaville, Calif.; seven brothers, Larry, Martinsberg, W. Va., James, Danville, Ill., Joe, Lakeside, Calif., Robert and Paul, both Santee, Calif., Daniel, Tyler, Texas, and Phillip, in Chocowinty, N.C.; six sisters, Vera Johnson, Loretta Kelso, Barbara Sager, Wilma Howie, Sandy Howie and Sara Howie, all Danville, Ill.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, James; three brothers, John, Samuel and Earl; and two sisters, Eunice Hudnell and Laura Risk.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Karney Kelly
The memorial service for Karney Kelly will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford. The Rev. George Nye will officiate. Inurnment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Kelly, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2002) at his home.

He was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Azusa, Calif., to Roy and Flossa Kelly. On Nov. 5, 1940, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Frances Chamberlin, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1980 from Walnut Creek, Calif.

Mr. Kelly was a utility power operator for P.G.&E.; in Contra Costa County, Calif., retiring in 1973.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1936 to 1940 aboard the USS Houston. The heavy cruiser was the flagship of the U.S. Fleet during September-December 1938 and also carried President Franklin D. Roosevelt on a number of occasions in 1934, 1935, 1938 and 1939.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands.

Mr. Kelley attended the Eastwood Baptist Church.

He enjoyed working as a machinist with metal, building and golf.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Carlene Kelly, Tualatin; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
