Roland ‘Bud’ Kruggel
The funeral for Roland "Bud" Kruggel will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Nazarene in Hillsboro.

Mr. Kruggel, 76, formerly of Ashland and Medford, died Friday (Nov. 8, 2002) at a Portland hospital.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Department of the Church of the Nazarene of Hillsboro, 1390 N.E. 21st St., Hillsboro, OR 97124.

He was born July 8, 1926, in Ashland. In 1950, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Yoakum, who survives.

Mr. Kruggel was the office manager/freight handler for the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific railroads for 20 years. He retired in 1988.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and helped liberate Dachau during the war.

Mr. Kruggel was a member of Church of the Nazarene of Hillsboro. He was a longtime resident of Medford and Ashland and moved to the Beaverton area in 1978.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Valerie Moore, Vancouver, Wash., and Victoria Forsyth, Hillsboro; a sister, Loisgae Singer, Beaverton; and one grandchild.

Arrangements: Pegg, Paxson and Springer Chapel, Beaverton.

Alice Spencer Athanas
The graveside service for Alice Spencer Athanas will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mountain View cemetery, Ashland. The Rev. Bob Mathers of Alliance Bible Chapel in Ashland will officiate.

Mrs. Athanas, 84, of Ashland, died Thursday (Nov. 7, 2002) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland.

She was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Hammond, to Hazel and Donald Spencer. She was raised in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School. In 1936, in Ashland, she married Verne Athanas, who died in 1962.

Mrs. Athanas sold appliances for The Mart in Ashland during the 1940s and worked as a proofreader at the Ashland Daily Tidings for several years in the mid-1960s.

Survivors include two sons, Michael, Ashland, and David, Roseburg; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Beverly Gay Smith
The memorial service for Beverly Gay Smith will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Ashland. The Rev. Michael Powell will officiate.

Mrs. Smith, 72, of Ashland, died Wednesday (Nov. 6, 2002) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Organ Fund of the United Methodist Church, 175 N. Main St., Ashland, OR 97520.

She was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Boston, to R. Myles and Evelyn M. (Dow) O’Dwyer. She graduated from Cranston High School in Rhode Island and from Boston University. On Nov. 18, 1962, in Cranston, she married the Rev. Nevitt B. Smith, who survives. They moved to Tigard in 1962 from Rhode Island and to Ashland in 1981.

Mrs. Smith worked in merchandising in Providence, R.I. She was a trustee for Willamette University for several years. In Ashland, she spent the last several years before retirement as the program coordinator for the United Methodist Church parish.

Before moving to Ashland, she was active in the United Methodist Church and ecumenical activities. She held various offices in the church and in Church Women United. She served on the board of Church World Service and the National Council of Churches, traveling throughout the United States and Central and South America. In Ashland, she helped organize the first CROP Walk for World Hunger, and continued her involvement with the United Methodist Women and Church Women United, holding many offices in the Ashland United Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Brenton, F., New Brunswick, N.J.; a daughter, Ellen C. LeDoux, Tigard; a sister, Gloria Miller, Attleboro, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford.

Armando Perez Hernandez
The memorial Mass for Armando Perez Hernandez will be at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. Liam Carey will officiate.

Mr. Perez Hernandez, 37, of White City, died Thursday (Nov. 21, 2002) at his home.

He was born March 24, 1965, in Guadalajara, Mexico to Serafin Perez and Margarita Hernandez. He moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago from Canyon Country, Calif.

Mr. Perez Hernandez was a waiter at Azteca Restaurant for seven years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mr. Perez Hernandez enjoyed his family, working on cars, dancing and music.

Survivors include his fiancee, Janelle Ford, White City; two daughters, Janellie Perez Ford and Jessica Perez Ford, both White City; a son, Luis Perez Ford, White City; his mother, Margarita Hernandez, Guadalajara, Mexico; his father, Serafin Perez, in Mexico; three brothers, Rigoberto Perez and Alejandro Perez, both Canyon Country, Calif., and Francisco Perez, Guadalajara; and three sisters, Gabriela Cocco, White City, and Margarita Perez and Ofelia Perez, both Guadalajara.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Calvin ‘Doug’ Cochran
The memorial service for Calvin "Doug" Cochran will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Cochran, 71, of Medford, formerly of Butte Falls, died Saturday (Nov. 23, 2002) at his home.

He was born May 21, 1931, in Huntington, Ind., to Fairy Roweena and Clarance Cochran. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1969.

Mr. Cochran was an avid fisherman until his illness. He also enjoyed oil painting and writing stories and poetry.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy on the Midway.

Survivors include a son, Doug, Eagle Point; a daughter, Cynthia Lallo, Medford; two brothers, Barry and Dick; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Steele.

Adrian Lewis Allman
The memorial service for Adrian Lewis Allman will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary Chapel in White City.

Mr. Allman, 80, of White City, died Monday (Nov. 25, 2002) at Hearthstone in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hearthstone, 2901 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Meeteetse, Wyo., to Lewis and Edith Allman. On Jan. 9, 1944, he married Ruth Lindner. They later divorced. On Jan. 8, 1994, in Reno, Nev., he married Katherine Lindner, who survives.

Mr. Allman was a logger at Simpson Timber Co. in Klamath, Calif., He also owned and operated the Texaco station in Gold Beach from 1963 to 1968.

He lived in Gold Beach from 1963 to 1968 and then moved to Cave Junction. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989.

Mr. Allman served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Central Point and Klamath, Calif.

Mr. Allman enjoyed horses, motorcycles, fishing and bowling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five daughters, Darlene Wilson, Arcata, Calif.; Donna Boots, Alamogordo, N.M., Barb Arensmeyer, Havre, Mont., Kathy Brown, Bigfork, Mont., and Shar Cornett, Santa Rosa, Calif.; a son, Darrell, Enterprise; 10 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Lindner Allman; a granddaughter, Traci Allman; and four sisters.

Tracy David Reeves
The memorial service for Tracy David Reeves will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Marvin Clark will officiate. Private committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass.

Mr. Reeves, 35, of Grants Pass, died Nov. 15, 2002, in Grants Pass.

He was born Sept. 18, 1967, in Grants Pass, and attended Grants Pass High School.

Mr. Reeves enjoyed bicycling and writing.

Survivors include his parents, David and Martha Reeves, Grants Pass; and a brother, Timothy, Medford.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Warnetta S. Roach
Warnetta S. Roach, 83, of Medford, died Saturday (Nov. 23, 2002) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Lindale, Texas, to Warner and Etta Mae Dean. In 1984, in Hesperia, Calif., she married John D. Roach, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Roach worked in the transportation industry as a scheduler and doing clerical work for more than 50 years. She moved to the Rogue Valley four years ago from Yuba City, Calif.

She was an avid card player and enjoyed bowling, reading and spending time with her family and grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Gehret, Medford; a sister, Crystal Chandler, Sun City, Calif.; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Snyder; a brother, Warner; and two sisters, Mary and Freda.

Barbara Ann Skelton
Barbara Ann Skelton, 73, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (Nov. 23, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service was held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Los Angeles, to Harry and Sophia Burrows. She was a graduate of Chouinard Art Institute of Pasadena, Calif. On Oct. 20, 1989, she married Gerald Skelton, who survives.

Mrs. Skelton was a marriage and family counselor.

She was a member of the Southern Oregon Watercolor Society, Clayfolk Art and Women Artists of the Cascade Mountains.

Mrs. Skelton enjoyed horses, pottery, watercolors and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Randolph Lee Raddatz, Glendale, Calif., and Thomas Jay Raddatz, Alexandria, La.; two daughters, Marjorie Sue Raddatz, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Deborah Ann Raddatz-Jones, Eagle Point; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Emma L. Frazee
Emma L. Frazee, 86, of Medford, died Nov. 6, 2002, in Forest, Mo., while visiting her granddaughter. Graveside services were held in Columbus, Ind., where her late husband, Charles, is buried.

She was born April 13, 1916, in Kentucky to Robert and Minnie Bailey. She was married to Charles D. Frazee for more than 50 years. Following her husband’s death, she moved to St. Charles, Mo., then to Olympia, Wash., where she lived until the death of her oldest daughter. She had lived in Medford for four years.

Mrs. Frazee enjoyed playing bingo, a good joke and laughing, fishing and her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene L. Knight, Medford; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by two daughters, Norma J. Fosberg, and Dorothy C. Wilson; five brothers; and six sisters.

Arrangements: Reed and Jewel Funeral Home, Columbus, Ind.

Jerry Bogart
The funeral for Jerry Michael Bogart will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Bogart, 59, of Medford, died Saturday (Nov. 16, 2002).

He was born May 21, 1943, in Gold Hill and was a lifelong resident of the Rogue Valley.

Mr. Bogart graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1962. He worked for 22 years as a barker operator and a tug boat operator for Boise Cascade Corp. He worked for BiMor gas stations for 18 years.

He enjoyed working on custom cars and owned more than 200 during his lifetime. Mr. Bogart also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He appeared as an extra in "The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid, " a feature film shot in Jacksonville in 1970.

Survivors include five sons, Glendon Ray, Curtis Michael, Stacey Lee and Brandon James, all Medford, and Jesse Younger, White City; a stepson, Chris Miller, Medford; four sisters, Dollie Minor and Opal Keithley, both Medford, Judy Beck, Anderson Island, Wash., and Vivian Rohrer, Modesto, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Bogart was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Ray Bogart Sr. and Jemima Butterfield Bogart; two sisters, Ruby Martindale and LaVara Clark; and two brothers, Orville Ray Bogart Jr. and Arthur Bogart.

Friends may pay their respects from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Della May Wells
The funeral for Della May Wells will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Pastor Greg Weston of Park Street Church of Christ, Ashland, will officiate. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mrs. Wells, 104, of Ashland, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Park Street Church of Christ, 621 Park St., Ashland, OR 97520.

She was born Oct. 19, 1898, in Dripping Springs, Texas, to Stella and Thomas Patterson. In 1907, the family moved by covered wagon to Alfreda, Ariz. On Dec. 20, 1916, in Tombstone, Ariz., she married Orion Wells, who preceded her in death. She moved to Ashland in 1940.

Mrs. Wells was a member of Park Street Church of Christ, Ashland.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening and family.

Survivors include two sons, Henry, San Diego, and Glen, Visalia, Calif.; two daughters, Patsy Winner, Ashland, and Peggy Stimac, Douglas, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, three daughters, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
