Duerwayne Wilson
The graveside service for Duerwayne Wilson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery. Pastor Bryan Burson of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Mr. Wilson, 74, of Central Point, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) at his home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Steve, Ark., to Perals and Annie Wilson. On Dec. 7, 1948, in Las Vegas, he married Jessie Coylen, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Wilson was a truck driver. He moved to the Rogue Valley 14 years ago from Anaheim, Calif.

He served in the Merchant Marine.

Mr. Wilson was a member of the Assembly of God. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Kenny and Greg, both Medford; two daughters, Marlene Valiquette and Cindy Lindhe, both Central Point; a sister, Pearlmae Noles, Medford; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, B.L. and Jack; and a sister, Jean Odegard.

James Lewis Yates
The funeral for James Lewis Yates will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn will officiate. Interment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Yates, 76, of Eagle Point, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 6184, c/o Frank Kula, P.O. Box 897, Eagle Point, OR 97524.

He was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Fayetteville, Ark., to William Nicolas and Virgie Nell (Hughes) Yates. On Nov. 18, 1951, in Phoenix, Ariz., he married Elma Jean Shamblin, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1963 from Portland.

Mr. Yates was a meat cutter for Safeway for 25 years, retiring in 1970. He also owned a meat cutting shop, Jeans Farm Kill, in Eagle Point and Talent, which is still in operation.

He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific Theater during World War II.

Mr. Yates was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Medford and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, ballroom dancing and square dancing with the Ramblin Rogues.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Ronald J., Eagle Point, and Donald E., Las Vegas; and three grandsons.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors in Medford.

Jenny Ilene Lockhart
The graveside service for Jenny Ilene Lockhart will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.

Ms. Lockhart, 23, of Central Point, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002) in a motor vehicle accident.

Memorial contributions may be made to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), P.O. Box 1114, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Sept. 4, 1979, in Nuremberg, Germany. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Lincoln City.

Ms. Lockhart worked as a hostess. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brookhurst Ward.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Lyle and Janis Lockhart, Silver Springs, Nev., her mother, Elizabeth Hon, in Indiana; three brothers, Jeremy Brantley, David Brantley and Sean Dennis; four sisters, Eva, Leslie Gianni, Jackie Taylor and Heather Sanchez; and her grandmothers, Janice Lockhart, La Porte, Ind., and Sally McLeese, in Indiana.

Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

LaceAnne Amida Eskeets
The memorial service for LaceAnne Amida Eskeets will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford.

Ms. Eskeets, 19, of Medford, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) at her home.

She was born June 21, 1983, in Dayton, Ohio, to Michael and Karen (Craig) Eskeets. She moved to Medford 1½ years ago from Deter.

Survivors include her mother, Karen Bank, Eugene; two brothers, Tiger Craig, Ashland, and Zachary Craig, Eugene; her grandparents, Ralph and Lorraine Craig, Tipp City, Ohio, and Lorraine Currier, Rye, N.H.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Margaret Whitin Tucker
The memorial service for Margaret Whitin Tucker will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ Unity Church in Medford. The Rev. Flo Bohnert will officiate.

Ms. Tucker, 89, of Medford, died Nov. 15, 2002, at Hearthstone.

She was born Jan. 18, 1913, in Weld, Maine, to Fredrick and Madge (Houghton) Whitin. She grew up in New England and graduated from Boston University as a registered nurse.

Ms. Tucker moved to Southern California early in her nursing career and practiced there her entire career. She moved from Hemet, Calif., to Medford in 1995, to be near her daughter.

She was a member of Christ Unity Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and San Bernardino County Retired Employees.

Ms. Tucker enjoyed helping others, working with the homeless and elderly, traveling, and animals, especially dogs.

Survivors include a daughter, Bunny Triem, Medford; five grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fredrick and George Whitin; and a granddaughter, Tammy Vaughn.

Geraldine Hollenbeck
Geraldine Hollenbeck, 78, of Central Point, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. A private service will be held.

She was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Sacramento, Calif., to Edward and Ila Davis. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1970 from Crescent City, Calif.

Survivors include three sons, Ken Petersen, Lanny Petersen and Dan Petersen, all Central Point; a daughter, Debra Smith, Medford; a brother, Kendall Davis, Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Alice Mae Marlowe
Alice Mae Marlowe, 91, of Jacksonville, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Canada, to Fred and Ina Parkhill. In February 1936, in Vancouver, Wash., she married Joseph Marlowe, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959 from Richmond, Calif., when her husband retired.

Mrs. Marlowe enjoyed fishing, cooking and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sisters, Pansy Radcliff, San Diego, and Muriel Neely, Lake Havasu, Ariz. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Arnold Wall
Arnold Wall, 76, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at Hearthstone in Medford. Arrangements will be announced by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.

Wenona Mae Gillette
The memorial service for Wenona Mae Gillette will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home, 141 N.W. C St., Grants Pass.

Mrs. Gillette, 89, of Junction City, died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002) in her sleep.

She was born Oct. 31, 1913, to Dr. Samuel and Grace Wendt. Her father was the first doctor in Cottage Grove. In 1936, she married Leland Gillette, who died in 1993. They retired to Grants Pass in 1973.

Mrs. Gillette was a registered nurse. She practiced at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco and the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.

The Gillettes were involved with and provided support for Jobs Daughters for 20 years. Mrs. Gillette was also active in P.E.O. International Sisterhood, Order of the Amaranth and Daughters of the Nile.

In addition to her medical career, she was an accomplished pianist and organist and spent many years playing for churches and various organizations.

Survivors include two daughters, Suewiya Pickett, Bozeman, Mont., and Adeena McManus, Cheshire; twin sons, Landa, Junction City, and Lonel, San Diego; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence ‘Arky’ Lewis
Lawrence "Arky" Lewis, 82, of Grants Pass, died, Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002) at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. Private interment will be at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, c/o Chapel Of The Valley Funeral Home, 2065 Upper River Road, Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Athol, Kan. He graduated from the San Francisco College Of Mortuary Science. On Dec. 27, 1972, in Ashland, he married Pearl Strait, who survives.

Mr. Lewis was a pharmaceutical representative for Shering Plough Pharmaceutical Company until his retirement. He moved to Grants Pass from Roseburg.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Lewis was a member of the Grants Pass Masonic Lodge and the Hillah Shrine. He was a former member and the first president of the Rogue Rotary in Medford.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Janice Brock, Las Vegas, Diane Anderson, Wilmington, Ohio, and Carol Brewster, Orem, Utah; three sons, Richard, Chatsworth, Calif., and Bill and Bob, both Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Betty Russell, Richland, Wash.; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Linda Jean Miller
The memorial service for Linda Jean Miller will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at White City Christian Church.

Mrs. Miller, 49, of Medford, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 17, 1953, in Hawthorne, Calif., to Harry and Jewel Uhles. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1967 from Lawndale, Calif.

On April 24, 1988, in Reno, Nev., she married Larry Miller, who survives. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, gardening and being with her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her parents; a daughter, Linda Heflin, Medford; a son, Stan Orton Jr., Salem; two stepsons, Larry Miller Jr., Klamath Falls, and Jeff Miller, Portland; a sister, Judy Plaice, Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Harry Uhles Jr., Central Point; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Ross.

Ruth Isabel Johnson
The funeral service for Ruth Isabel Johnson will be at 1:30 Wednesday at Stringer Funeral Home in Charlestown, N.H.

Mrs. Johnson, 69, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vt.

She had lived in Medford for 20 years before moving to New Hampshire two years ago.

She was born in Claremont, N.H., on May 25, 1933, to Fayette and Ethel Stafford Kingsbury.

She worked as a nurses aide at Hearthstone Manor while she lived in Medford, and was active in the Foster Grandparent program.

She was a member of the Victory in Jesus Family Church on Dean Flat in Charlestown and a member of AARP.

Survivors include four sons: Daniel W. Johnson, Medford; Kerry L. and Timothy A. Johnson, Charlestown, N.H.; and Robert A. Johnson, Templeton, Mass.; a daughter, Laura Mattz, Medford; a sister, Lillian Gokas, Newport, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Kingsbury.

Charles ‘Earl’ Beacham
The graveside service for Charles "Earl" Beacham will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Medford Friends Church.

Mr. Beacham, 87, of Billings, Mont., died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002). He had lived and worked in the Rogue Valley for more than 20 years.

He was born on June 4, 1915, in Powell, Wyo., to Chester Earl and Esther Williams Beacham.

On Nov. 19, 1941, in Tacoma, Wash., he married Evelyn Tobin, who survives.

He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps and served in the 41st Division, 116th Engineers during World War II. After the war, he and his wife settled in Durham, Calif., where they had a dairy farm.

In 1952 they moved to Southern California, where he worked as an electrician. In 1958, they moved to Southern Oregon, where he worked as a millwright until he retired in 1977.

They lived in Billings for the past six years.

He and his wife worked in the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, traveling in their motor home and doing volunteer construction work for churches and church camps.

They were members of the Table Rock Good Sams for several years. He enjoyed hunting, camping, remodeling and construction, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Nancy Samples, Cody, Wyo., and Pat Reese, Billings, Mont.; a son, Carl, Sisters; a sister, Betty Wolk-Laniewski, Medford; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Abbott Beacham; and two sisters, Alice Worden and Mary Beebee.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
