Stanley John Skabik
Stanley John Skabik, 80, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 22, 2002) at his home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Oregon, 7420 S.W. Bridgeport Road, Suite 200, Tualatin, OR 97224-7711.

He was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Lyda, Poland, and moved to the United States when he was a child. In November 1951, in Los Angeles, he married Colleen Hamlet, who survives.

Mr. Skabik was a building investigator for the city of Los Angeles until his retirement. He moved to Grants Pass in 1988 from the San Fernando Valley in California, and to Medford two years ago.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nassau, USS Millicoma, USS Howorth and the USS Lexington, when it was sunk in the Pacific. He also participated in the Philippine Liberation and was discharged in 1946.

Mr. Skabik was a volunteer at Southern Oregon Medical Center.

He enjoyed woodworking, and designing and making grandfather clocks.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Stanley Jr., Castaic, Calif.; a brother, Joseph Skabialka, St. Louis; two sisters, Rosemary Schuessler, in Michigan, and Joann Jones, Newport Beach, Calif.; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Services, Inc., Grants Pass.

William Purcell
No service is planned for William Purcell, 69, of Central Point, who died Friday (Nov. 22, 2002) in his home.

Inurnment will be at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

He was born on May 28, 1933 in Canadian, Texas, to Wiliam and Hazel Purcell. On March 2, 1957, in Cottage Grove, he married Mary Lou Roe, who preceded him in death.

They moved to the Rogue Valley from Eugene in 1967.

Mr. Purcell served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for Burkhart Dental Supply in Eugene for more than 40 years, retiring in 1998.

He enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Purcell, Central Point; daughters, Teressa Espinozo, Sandy, and Glenda Karr, Redding, Calif.; a sister, Roslie Wilson, Eugene; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Armando P. Hernandez
Armando Perez Hernandez, 37, of White City, died Thursday (Nov. 21, 2002) in his home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford with Father Liam Carey officiating.

A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today at the Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford.

Mr. Hernandez was born March 24, 1965, in Guadalajara, Mexico, to Serafin Perez and Margarita Hernandez.

He moved to the Rogue Valley from Canyon Country, Calif., seven years ago, and worked as a server at the Azteca restaurant in Medford.

A member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he enjoyed his family, working on cars, dancing and music.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his fiancee, Janelle Ford, White City; two daughters, Janellie Perez Ford and Jessica Perez Ford, both of White City; a son, Luis Perez Ford, White City; three brothers, Rigoberto Perez, Canyon Country, Alejandro Perez, Canyon Country, and Francisco Perez, Guadalajara; and three sisters, Gabriela Cocco, White City, Margarita Perez and Ofelia Perez, both of Guadalajara.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Anne Ardythe Nye
Anne Ardythe Nye, 65, of Medford, died Thursday (Nov. 21, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Liam Carey officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 449 S. Ivy St., Medford, OR 97501.

Ms. Nye was born on April 10, 1937, to Clarence Sr. and Vivian Nye in Twin Falls, Idaho. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Everett, Wash., in 1972.

A member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she worked as a motel housekeeper. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Jim "Pat" Murray, Temple, Texas; a daughter, Joyce "Cindy" Wilson, Medford; a sister, Daryle Nye, Ruptor, Idaho; three stepbrothers; one stepsister; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Nye Jr. and Walter Norman Nye.

C.W. ‘Bud’ Potter
The graveside service for C.W. "Bud" Potter will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Potter, 74, of Medford, died Thursday (Nov. 14, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born May 6, 1928, in Petaluma, Calif., to Clio and Teresa Potter. On March 18, 1950, in Fresno, Calif., he married Virginia Stump, who survives. They lived in Santa Rosa, Calif., moved to Grants Pass in 1994, and to Medford in 2001.

Mr. Potter was a manager for AMFAC Drug Supply, Santa Rosa branch, retiring in 1986.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Potter was a member of the Redwood Empire Pharmaceutical Association in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was a former member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Exchange Club, Countryside Racket Club and the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club, all in Santa Rosa.

He enjoyed golf and tennis.

Survivors in addition to his wife of 52 years, include a son, Kris W., Medford; a daughter, Dr. Kim Potter Kihlstrom, Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret J. Randol, Capistrano Beach, Calif., and Audrey L. Foot, Petaluma, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at 550 Business Park Drive. Medford.

Ronald Alan Roiter
The memorial service for Ronald Alan Roiter will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at White City Assembly of God. Dr. Scott O’Neal will officiate.

Mr. Roiter, 55, of Medford, died Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born June 29, 1947, in Charlotte, Mich., to James and Jewell Roiter. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1994, from Albuquerque, N.M.

Mr. Roiter was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include his childhood sweetheart, Cecelia Foxen, Santa Maria, Calif.; a son, Eli Daniel, Medford; a daughter, Michele Rene Roiter, Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, James, Van Buren, Ark., and Clayton, Fairpoint, Ohio; three sisters, Margo Setnor and Sandra Brite, both Shady Cove, and Monica Corso, Wausau, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eric (Arik) Olin Skoog
The memorial service for Eric (Arik) Olin Skoog will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Christ Lutheran Church in Mount Shasta, Calif. Pastor James Cavener will officiate.

Mr. Skoog, 38, of Moses Lake, Wash., formerly of Medford, died Nov. 2, 2002, at his home in Moses Lake, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lutheran World Relief Fund, 1333 S. Kirkwood Road, St. Louis. MO 63122-7295.

He was born in Medford to Julie Jahn Skoog and Warren Skoog. He attended primary grades in the Rogue Valley and graduated from Mount Shasta High School in 1982. While in high school, he and his sister, Jeannie, traveled extensively in Europe, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

After graduation from high school, Mr. Skoog spent a year In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, working for the U.S. Geological Survey. The focus of his work project was developing a water atlas for the library of King Fahd. During his year In Saudi Arabia he enjoyed meeting people from around the world.

Upon his return to the U.S., he attended the University of California at Chico, and the University of California at Davis, pursuing an engineering degree. He then decided to pursue a more people-oriented profession and in 1999, he received a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Washington State University.

In 1994, he married Jenny Mikec, who survives.

Mr. Skoog was a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

He enjoyed hiking, camping, and fishing in Alaska, and was taking flying lessons so he could further explore Alaska.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his mother and stepfather, Julie and Richard Santillie, Medford; his father, Warren Skoog, Singapore; a sister, Jeannie Hamilton, Veneta; his grandparents Wilma Jahn, and Imogene and Dale Vincent of Medford.

Arrangements: Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake, Wash.

Alma Reeves
The graveside service for Alma Irene Reeves will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2002) at Hillcrest Memorial Park’s Glenhaven Garden. The Rev. Paul Hagedorn will officiate.

Mrs. Reeves, 90, of Ashland, died Thursday (Nov. 14, 2000) at a foster home in Phoenix.

She was born July 27, 1912, in Bristol, Va., a daughter of Charles and Mary Bayes. She lived in Virginia and Tennessee before moving to California, where she lived for 55 years. She moved to Talent in 1988.

On Sept. 24, 1978, she married Stuart C. Reeves, who preceded her in death in 2000. She worked for Southern Pacific in Stockton, Calif., for 25 years.

Mrs. Reeves loved birds and was an avid birdwatcher and backyard bird feeder. She was a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs for many years, both in California and in the Rogue Valley.

Surviving are a son, Johnny Church, of Watsonville, Calif.; a daughter, Anita Hyland, of Ashland; a sister, Stella Morris, of Lodi; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford.

Marion Francis Craig
The memorial service for Marion Francis Craig will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mrs. Craig, 71, of Shady Cove, died Wednesday (June 11, 2003), at her son’s home in Junction City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 380 S.E. Spokane St., Suite 110, Portland, OR 97202.

She was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Klamath Falls, to Morris and Violet (Moore) House. She graduated from high school in Bend in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army for three years. In 1952, in Okinawa, Japan, she married Floyd Franklin Craig, who survives.

Mrs. Craig was a medical laboratory technician.

She enjoyed traveling, knitting and reading.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 51 years, include two daughters, Mary Lynn Brewer, Shady Cove, and Pamela Jo Cleveland, Junction City; a son, James S., Junction City; a brother, Eugene House; and four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home, Junction City.

Edward Jack Parker
Edward Jack Parker, 67, of Medford, died Thursday (June 12, 2003) at his home. A private service will be held.

He was born July 12, 1935, in Medford, to Joseph Sam and Flossie Mae Parker.

Incorrect information was provided for Saturday’s obituary.

Michael Edward White
Michael Edward White, 56, of Medford, died Saturday (June 7, 2003) at his home. A private service will be held. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.

He was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Memphis, Tenn., to Charles and Ruby White.

Mr. White was a card dealer in Reno, Nev. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from Reno, Nev.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1969.

Mr. White was an avid gun collector and gunsmith.

Survivors include his former wife, Joyce White, Athol, Mass.; two daughters, Heather White, Corvallis, and Pamela White; four sons, David, stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., Michael, Benjamin and James; and a sister, Sydney Williams, in Tennessee. He was preceded in death by a son, Rory.

Emma Louise Allie
Emma Louise Allie, 79, of Central Point, died Friday (June 13, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held at a later date.

She was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Anthon and Cornelia (Harriman) Nelson. In October 1945, in Spokane, Wash., she married LeRoy Allie. They were married for 29 years.

Ms. Allie was a central supply aide for Rogue Valley Medical Center from 1974 until her retirement in 1992.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, reading and playing Scrabble.

Survivors include three daughters, Corrine Hellmann, Central Point, Kathryn Cartwright, Medford, and Ruth Roberts, Salt Lake City; a brother, Donald Nelson, in Missouri; a sister, Shirley Oliver, Clarkston, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.
