Douglas Wyman Gillet
The memorial service for Douglas Wyman Gillet will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Illinois Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Cave Junction. Luella Baker of Mount Hope Bible Center will officiate. Private interment was held at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Gillet, 57, of Cave Junction, died Sunday (May 25, 2003) at his home.

He was born July 9, 1945, in Oakland, Calif.

Mr. Gillet was a retired U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He moved to the Illinois Valley seven months ago from Gold Hill.

Survivors include two brothers, Richard and David Moore, both Modesto, Calif.

Arrangements: Illinois Valley Funeral Home, Cave Junction.

Stuart John Inglis
Stuart John Inglis, 79, of Austin, Texas, formerly of the Applegate, died May 17, 2003, in Austin. No local service is planned.

He was born in 1923. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in astronomy from the University of California at Berkeley.

Mr. Inglis taught astronomy, physics, math, and geology at several high schools and colleges, including Chabot in Hayward, Calif., Las Positas in Livermore, Calif., Medford Mid High and Southern Oregon State College, now Southern Oregon University.

He wrote an astronomy textbook, "Planet, Stars and Galaxies, " and a physics textbook, "Physics: An Ebb and Flow of Ideas." He participated in a number of National Science Foundation projects, lectured at the Morrison Planetarium in San Francisco, and went on a 1958 solar eclipse expedition in the South Pacific.

Mr. Inglis served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He enjoyed nature, science, classical music, and his Scottish and Ojibwa heritage. He owned property in the Southern Oregon countryside and enjoyed raising animals.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Stuart; two daughters, Adrienne Cecilia Inglis and Jennifer Inglis Hudson; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Eskildsen Inglis.

Arrangements: Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Austin, Texas.

Mary E. Willison-Matchett
The funeral Mass for Mary E. Willison-Matchett will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. Liam Cary will officiate.

The vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.

Mrs. Willison-Matchett, 49, of Medford, died Thursday (May 29, 2003) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, P.O. Box 1663, Medford, OR 97501, or the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Mary Corliss on Dec. 21, 1953, in Medford. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School through eighth grade and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1972. She graduated as a medical transcriptionist from Rogue Community College in 1988.

On Aug. 26, 1989, in Lakeview, she married Kevin C. Matchett, who survives.

Mrs. Willison-Matchett was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Rogue Valley Opera Guild, Rogue Valley Chorale and was a volunteer for the Britt Society. She went to Europe as a flutist with the American Youth in Concert.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and was a cantor and flutist, and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Drew Willison, Medford; a daughter, Olivia Willison, Medford; three brothers, Steve Corliss, Medford, Chris Corliss, Eagle Point, and John Corliss, Ashland; two sisters, Azelie Coviare-Burns, Medford, and Sarah Edmondson, Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joan (Hawkins) Corliss.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Leona Mae Bendinelli
The funeral for Leona Mae Bendinelli will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Mrs. Bendinelli, 87, of Bullhead City, Ariz., formerly of Medford, died May 24, 2003, at her home. Memorical contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 330 S.W. Curry St., Portland, OR 97201.

She was born Oct. 8, 1915, in Kansas City, Mo., a daughter of Charles and Dora Peters. On Nov. 8, 1933, in Yuma, Ariz., she married Donald A. Bendinelli. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley from California in 1993.

A homemaker, she enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, ceramic painting and office machines.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Donald C., Helena, Mont., and a sister, Imogene Turner of Seattle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jack, William and Richard.

Friends and family may pay their respects from1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Perl Funeral Home Sitting Room.

John E. Roubal
Private services will be held for John E. Roubal, 81, of Pleasant Hill, Calif., formerly of Southern Oregon, who died May 21, 2003.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1700 Webster St., Oakland, CA 94612.

Born in Omaha, Neb., he had lived in California for 40 years after living in Southern Oregon for more than 20 years. He was an accountant with Crown City Plating before his retirement.

He enjoyed cards, board games and reading.

He was preceded in death two years ago by his wife, Rosemary.

Surviving are a son, Thomas Roubal, of Pleasant Hill; a stepsister, Millie Poster, of Rogers, Ark.; and a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

Arrangements: Bryant and Moore Chapel, Concord, Calif.

Rex Nyle Clarke
The memorial service for Rex Nyle Clarke will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, in care of 3039 Hanley Road, Central Point, OR 97502, or to St. Andrews Anglican Church, 305 N. Fifth St., Jacksonville, OR 97530.

Mr. Clarke died Thursday (May 29, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.

He was born Nov. 12, 1940, in McAllen, Texas, a son of Guy Clarke and Juliet Spiva Clarke. On March 14, 1964, in Reno, Nev., he married Millie Boyd, who survives.

Mr. Clarke lived in the Rogue Valley from 1950 to 1965, when he moved to Oakton, Va. He returned to the valley in 1998.

Mr. Clarke attended Ashland High School and Southern Oregon State College. He held the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.

For more than 30 years, he was a case officer for the Central Intelligence Agency, a career that took him to 120 countries.

His interests included the Boy Scouts, traveling, collecting military memorabilia and studying to become an Anglican priest.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Melisa Mulcahy, Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Rex Nyle Clark II, Seattle; and two grandchildren.

Linda Lee Leonard-Kazay
The memorial service for Linda Lee Leonard-Kazay will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Medford Friends Church, 625 DeBarr Ave., Medford. The Rev. Mark Burton will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Awareness Project, 1070 Brookdale Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

Mrs. Leonard-Kazay, 51, of Medford, died Friday (May 30, 2003) at her home.

She was born Jan. 25, 1952, in Washington. On July 4, 1985, in San Anselmo, Calif., she married John Kazay Jr., who survives.

Mrs. Leonard-Kazay moved to the Rogue Valley from San Rafael, Calif., in 1991. She was a staff accountant for Richard Brewster, a certified public accountant. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her work.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her mother, Marilyn Leonard, Phoenix; and a sister, Jan Leonard-Mortensen, Los Angeles. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Leonard.

Wilmer Bailey
The funeral for Wilmer Bailey will be at 2 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Mr. Bailey, 94, of Gold Hill, died Wednesday (May 21, 2003) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Foots Creek, to William and Katherne Bailey. He graduated from Gold Hill High School in 1929. On Feb. 5, 1930, in Medford, he married Nora Dusenberry, who survives.

A lifelong Rogue Valley resident, Mr. Bailey was the quarry foreman and repairman at Ideal Cement Co. in Gold Hill for 39 years. He also worked for the Jackson County Roads Department for five years.

He was a member of the Gold Hill town baseball team.

Mr. Bailey enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid bowler for 42 years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 73 years, include a son, Ken W., Medford; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lee Bailey; four sisters and two brothers.

Wayne R. Paulsen
The memorial service for Wayne R. Paulsen will be at noon Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church, Ashland.

Mr. Paulsen, 69, of Ashland, died April 30, 2003, at his home.

Patrick J. ‘PJ’ Strong
The funeral for Patrick J. "PJ" Strong will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Strong, 78, of Yuma, Ariz., formerly of Medford, died May 19, 2003, at his home in Yuma.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford Moose Lodge, Special Olympics, 226 N. Ross Lane, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Fairport, N.Y. On June 10, 1972, in Long Beach, Calif., he married Marie "Mo" Hitchcock, who died in 1992. They moved to Medford in 1974 from Long Beach, Calif., and to Yuma, Ariz. in 1992.

Mr. Strong was a plywood mill worker and stitcher operator at KOGAP Manufacturing for 11 years.

He served in the U.S. Marines for 10 years, during World War II and in Korea. He received the Silver Star and three Purple Hearts.

Mr. Strong was a member of Medford Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. He founded the Medford Moose Special Olympics, and the Yuma Moose Special Olympics.

He was a life member of Medford Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 1833, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the American Legion.

He was an avid golfer and held five club championships at Cedar Links Golf Course and two Senior Division titles in the Southern Oregon Golf Tournament, played at the Rogue Valley Country Club. He also enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Melody Capps, Medford, Marsha Childers, Tacoma, Wash., and Maribeth Jarvis, Gustavus, Alaska.; a sister, Mary McCarthy, in New York; a brother, James, in New York; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lenore Barnatone.

Nancy E. McQuigg
The memorial service for Nancy E. McQuigg will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mrs. McQuigg, 60, of Springfield, formerly of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (May 21, 2003) in Springfield.

She was born July 27, 1942, in Pasadena, Calif., to Charles and Mary (Abnet) Schwebbs. She graduated from high school and completed two years of business management. On Oct. 6, 1961, in Reno, Nev., she married Carl F. McQuigg, who survives. They lived in Eagle Point from 1991 to 2000.

Mrs. McQuigg enjoyed reading and growing African violets.

Survivors include a son, Carl, Central Point; two daughters, Kathy Howard, Springfield, and Teri Bontrager, Bremerton, Wash.; three sisters, Irene Davis, Kimberly, Idaho; Gladys, Crescent City, Calif., and Christine Pearson, Salem; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Allen McQuigg.

Arrangements: Springfield Memorial Gardens, Springfield.

Gordon Hudson
Gordon Hudson, 81, of Belgrade, Mont., former owner of Hudson’s Pharmacy in Medford, died Tuesday (May 20, 2003) of injuries sustained in an accident while working on his ranch. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Gallatin Valley, P.O. Box 11390, Bozeman, MT 59719, or to the Montana Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, P.O. Box 99, Hot Springs, MT 59845.

He was born on July 13, 1921 near Imbler.

Mr. Hudson was a longtime pharmacist and business owner in Medford. He lived in the Springhill Community of Gallatin County, Mont., for the last 20 years.

During World War II, he served in the South Pacific as a corpsman attached to the 4th Marine Raiders.

Survivors include his wife Jo, Belgrade, Mont.; two sons, Jon, Bozeman, Mont., and Hank, Clancy, Mont.; two sisters; and two granddaughters.

Arrangements: Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service, Bozeman, Mont.

Clarence T. Lamp
Clarence T. Lamp, 59, formerly of Medford, died May 16, 2003, in Miami Beach, Fla. The service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.

He was born Dec. 13, 1943, in Big Timber, Mont. He graduated from high school in Medford.

Mr. Lamp worked on aircraft overseas.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1964.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Edna and Robert Stacy, Medford; a brother, James, Medford; two sisters, Joy Reich, White City, and Marguerite Buckles, Central Point.
