Dorothy Busch
The memorial service for Dorothy Busch will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Pastor Jim Larson of the Christian Church of Ashland will officiate.

Mrs. Busch, 93, of Medford, formerly of Ashland, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) at Anna Maria Creekside Retirement Center in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Community Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 98, Ashland, OR 97520, or Chapter BN P.E.O., c/o Carolyn Burrill, treasurer, 540 Viego Court, Central Point, OR 97502.

She was born Sept. 23, 1909, in La Grande, to Maude and Colon Eberhard. She graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Oregon. On Dec. 30, 1936, in La Grande, she married Jim H. Busch, who died in 1988.

Mrs. Busch taught at Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls from 1932 to 1939.

She served on the Ashland School Board for several years and was a member of Chapter BN P.E.O.

Mrs. Busch enjoyed sewing and playing cards.

Survivors include two sons, Jim, Hines, and Jack, Los Altos, Calif. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Timothy ‘Scot’ Looper
The memorial service for Timothy "Scot" Looper will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Medford. The Rev. Huntley Barnes will officiate.

Mr. Looper, 39, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Dec. 15, 1963, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Bill and Joan (Hood) Looper. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1966.

Mr. Looper was a drill press operator for Tyco.

He enjoyed reading and playing computer games.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Joan Looper, White City; two brothers, Jeffrey, Harbour, and Philip, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Deanna Looper, Brattleboro, Vt.; and his grandparents, George and Claudie Hood, Eagle Point.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Dennis Leroy Rose Jr.
The funeral for Dennis Leroy Rose Jr. will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Pastor Elias Mercado of Iglesia Ni Cristo, Portland, will officiate.

Mr. Rose, 38, of Medford, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) at his home.

He was born June 2, 1964, in Klamath Falls, to Dennis Leroy and Susan Jane (Anderson) Rose. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Klamath Falls. On May 14, 1995, in Reno, Nev., he married Filipinas R. Baritua, who survives.

Mr. Rose began working for U.N.R. Express, Inc. in 1978, first as a light mechanic, then as a truck driver from 1984 until 1991. He worked as a driver for Bud Hannagan Trucking from 1991 to 1994. In 1994, he began his own business, Hannagan Ranch Trucking in White City, in memory of Bud Hannagan.

He was a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) in Portland and Locale of Eugene/Salem.

Mr. Rose enjoyed fishing, hunting, classic car collections and racing cars.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Rafael B., Medford, two daughters, Maria E. Gonzalez and Maele B. Rose, both Medford; his parents, Dennis and Susan Rose, Central Point; a sister, Tracy Rose, Central Point; a brother, Larry, Medford; and one grandchild.

Friends may pay their respects at 8 a.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home Chapel, Medford.

Loerlie Haynes
Loerlie Haynes, 75, of Medford, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) in Medford. No service is planned. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.

She was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Tacoma, Wash., to Clyde and Marie (Wagner) Berger. On June 19, 1953, in Coquille, she married Raymond W. Haynes, who died Dec. 19, 2002.

Mrs. Haynes was a retired caregiver.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Kennedy, Springfield, Susan Rae Gorens, Longview, Wash.; two sons, Raymond W. Jr., Medford, and Thomas R., Medford; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Tom Merton
Tom Merton, 63, of Lebanon, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene. A private service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Safe Haven Humane Society, c/o Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, OR 97321.

He was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Susanville, Calif., to Ralph and Alvera Merton, and grew up in Medford. In December 1961, in Reno, Nev., he married Valerie Ottoman, who survives.

Mr. Merton worked for Georgia Pacific in Halsey for 28 years, retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and outdoor activities, including dune buggies.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Cole, Jefferson; his parents, Ralph and Alvera Merton, Albany; a brother, Mickey, Jefferson; a sister, Georgia Lane, Albany; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Fisher Funeral Home, Albany.

Margaret R. Kimrey
Margaret R. Kimrey, 94, of Forest Grove, formerly of Medford, died Monday (March 3, 2003) at Jennings-McCall II Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove. Private interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic and Eastern Star Home Endowment Fund, 2221 Oak St., Forest Grove, OR 97116.

She was born May 3, 1908, in Ashland, Kan., to Robert R. and Gertrude M. (Nolan) Jones, and was raised in educated in Ashland, Kan. On July 3, 1945, in Honolulu, she married Harold Adrian Patterson and they made their home in Honolulu. In 1952, they moved to the Siskiyou County, Calif., community of Horse Creek, between Yreka and Happy Camp. Harold Patterson died shortly after they purchased and began to operate the general mercantile store in Horse Creek. She continued to operate the store as the sole proprietor and also served as the community’s postmaster for eight more years.

She remained with the U.S. Postal Service for many years, serving as manager of the Kailua, Hawaii, post office from 1960 to 1966. She then returned to Siskiyou County, Calif., and served as postmaster in Gazelle, then Montague, Calif., until her retirement in 1970.

On April 2, 1972, in Eagle Point, she married Chet Kimrey and they made their home in Weed, Calif. They later divorced. She made her home in Medford until 1999 when she moved to the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Forest Grove.

Ms. Kimrey was a member of the Methodist Church and sang alto in the church choir. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nevita Chapter No. 93 in Central Point.

She enjoyed traveling and had traveled all over Europe. She also enjoyed her work and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Harold A. "Pat" Patterson, Central Point; a daughter, Gertrude Giffin, Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers.

Arrangements: Forest Grove Memorial Chapel.

Grace A. Berg
Grace A. Berg, 85, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) at her home. A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501, or Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Attn: Dubs Cancer Center, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born July 9, 1917, in Alamo, N.D., to Egert and Josie (Thoring) Berve. On Oct. 5, 1940, in Sydney, Mont., she married Ryder Berg, who died in 1976. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1943 from Williston, N.D.

Mrs. Berg was the dean of students at Medford Senior High School until her retirement in 1980.

She enjoyed church, gardening and sewing.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Keith, Medford; a brother, Orville O. Berve, Minot, N.D.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Elizabeth Elmira Finch
Elizabeth Elmira Finch, 99, of Medford, died Feb. 27, 2003, at Hearthstone. A private service will be held. Interment will be at Logtown cemetery in Jacksonville at a later date.

She was born Nov. 20, 1903, in Collbran, Colo., to Alvernus and Nellie Lorimor. On Oct. 14, 1923, in Collbran, Colo., she married Jean Leonard Finch, who died in 1962. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1937 from Colorado.

Mrs. Finch was a homemaker.

She was a life member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and a member of the Dorcus Society.

Mrs. Finch enjoyed making quilts for the needy at her church, gardening, sunflowers and walking rather than driving, to save the ecology.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharron, Medford; a son, Hubert, Medford; four brothers, Harvey, Elton, Waldo and Darren; four sisters, Edith, Sandy, Helen and Geraldine; and many grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

Elsie Fry
The graveside service for Elsie Fry will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.

Mrs. Fry, 72, of Sprague River, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Monday (July 8, 2002) at her home of liver cancer.

She was born July 5, 1930, in Picture, Okla., the oldest of four children born to Charles and Alice (Vestel) Minor. When she was 12 years old she traveled by train to Ashland. She attended and graduated from Rogue River Academy near Medford. On Aug. 22, 1948, she married Elbert Davis. They had four children. They were active in the Medford Seventh-day Adventist Church, Dorcas and the Pathfinder Club. She also worked as a cook at Rogue River Academy, where her children attended school.

The family moved to Bonanza in 1966, bought a ranch, and helped start the Bonanza SDA Church, where she was an active member at the time of her death. After her husband’s death in 1985, she lived in Klamath Falls, Yucaipa, Springfield, Malin and Bonanza to be near her children and grandchildren.

On May 16, 1997, she married Wesley Fry, who survives. They moved to Sprague River.

Mrs. Fry taught classes in vegetarian cooking, baking, canning, quilting, gardening, nature, homemaking and Bible study.

She was known for her hospitality, her good food and her chocolate chip cookies. Mrs. Fry also enjoyed reading, music and her dachshund, Bitty.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Mike Davis and James Hastins; three daughters, Jenice Palmer, Pat Mendoza and Louise Davis; five stepchildren; two brothers, Ken and Frank Havekost; three sisters, Shirley Balmer, Opal DeAndra and Ruth Ringer; 12 grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Davenport’s Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Klamath Falls.

Renee E. Berkman
The memorial service for Renee E. Berkman will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Barnes Community Church in Barnes, Wis.

Mrs. Berkman, 49, of Barnes Wis., formerly of Ashland, died Friday (July 5, 2002) at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, Minn.

She was born Feb. 25, 1953, in Two Harbors, Minn. She was a 1971 graduate of Holmen High School in Holmen, Wis.

Mrs. Berkman was a member of the Gordon-Barnes Garden Club.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, animals and people.

Survivors include her daughter, Nina Lee, Kansas City; her parents, Donald and Darlene Anderson, Barnes, Wis.; and her brother, Dale Anderson, La Crosse, Wis.

Arrangements: Cremation Society of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

Virginia C. Hoffmann
The memorial Mass for Virginia C. Hoffmann will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ The King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, R.I.

Ms. Hoffmann, 77, of Wakefield, R.I., formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Tuesday (July 9, 2002) at South County Hospital in Wakefield, R.I.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, P.O. Box 1663, Medford, OR 97501, or Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 143 Main St., Wakefield, RI 02879.

She was born in Davenport, Iowa, to Francis Augustine and Mary Modesta (Harrington) Cooper. She married Michael A. Hoffmann. They later divorced.

Ms. Hoffmann was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for more than 20 years.

She was a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Society in Medford, and was a member of the Seniors Writing Club.

Ms. Hoffmann enjoyed line dancing.

Survivors include three sons, Michael A., Marblehead, Mass., Cooper F., Woonsocket, R.I., and Martin N., Huntington, Conn.; a daughter, Monica H. Awde, Wakefield, R.I.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea M. Johnson; a brother, William F. Cooper; and a sister, Ann C. Pfizenmaier.

Arrangements: Avery-Storti Funeral Home, Rhode Island.

Diana L. ‘Tamar’ Governor
The memorial service for Diana Lynn "Tamar" Governor will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Pastor Wilber Boatwright of Upper Rogue Full Gospel Fellowship will officiate.

Mrs. Governor, 52, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (July 6, 2002) near Butte Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, c/o Ed Mazza, Veterans Affairs Domiciliary, 8495 Crater Lake Highway, White City, OR 97503-1088.

She was born Diana Lynn Lippke on Oct. 20, 1949, in Chicago, to Arthur and Mildred Lippke. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1985. On April 17, 1993, in Eagle Point, she married Fred Governor, who survives.

Mrs. Governor was a homemaker.

She was a member of Reese Creek Christian Center in Eagle Point.

She enjoyed her faith, cooking and spending time with her family, friends and pets.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Jason Gidcumb, Eagle Point, Jim Governor, Central Point, and Dale Lambert, Paducah, Ky.; two daughters, Regina D. Gidcumb, Jamestown, Pa., and Kim Sproul, Hillsboro; a brother, John A. Lippke, Gold Beach; a sister, Linda L. Clement, White City; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Ruth Lippke.

Friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford.
