Marjorie June Mosley
The memorial service for Marjorie June Mosley will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford. The Rev. Robert L. Larson will officiate. Inurnment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mrs. Mosley, 79, of Medford, died April 2, 2003, at Hearthstone in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 7420 S.W. Bridgeport Road, Suite 200, Tualatin, OR 97224.

She was born June 17, 1923, in Sisters, to Alva and Bina Elliott. On April 29, 1950, in Klamath Falls, she married James T. Mosley, who survives. They moved to the Medford area in 1970 from Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Mosley was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She and her husband had spent the winters at Lake Tamarisk in Desert Center, Calif., for the past 18 years.

She enjoyed golf and played at Stewart Meadows golf course. She also enjoyed gardening, travel and reading.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Joe, Junction City; two daughters, Andrea Harris, Lakeview, and Laura Miller, Vancouver, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Arthur H.A. Schoennauer
The funeral for Arthur Henry August Schoennauer will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose City cemetery in Portland. Interment will follow at Rose City cemetery.

Mr. Schoennauer, 81, of Medford, died Saturday (April 5, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seattle Lutheran High School, 4141 41st Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA 98116.

He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Seattle, to Arthur and Ida (Welk) Schoennauer, and grew up in Seattle. He attended Concordia Teachers College in Portland and Seward, Neb., before earning his master’s degree in counseling from the University of Washington.

Mr. Schoennauer began his teaching career in San Leandro, Calif. He would later teach at Trinity Lutheran School in Seattle, and serve as principal of Hope Lutheran School in Seattle. While there, he also taught and did career counseling at Seattle Lutheran High School. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997 from Seattle.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Medford.

Mr. Schoennauer enjoyed teaching, corresponding with his former students, music, and playing piano and organ at church.

Survivors include a brother, Alfred, Medford; and a sister, Irmgard Cole, Tacoma, Wash.

Mary G. Bezoff
The funeral for Mary G. Bezoff will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Medford Chapel. Interment will be in the Garden of Honor at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.

Mrs. Bezoff, 75, of Medford, died Sunday (April 6, 2003) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford Gospel Mission, 409 N. Front St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born July 21, 1927, in Klamath Falls, to Lawrence and Nannie (Kinkade) Arnett. She graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology as a licensed practical nurse. On Aug. 22, 1944, in Ashland, she married Jack Bezoff, who died in 1998. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1955 from Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Bezoff was a licensed practical nurse in Klamath Falls and Medford until her retirement.

She was a member of Community Bible Church in Central Point.

Mrs. Bezoff enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Terry, Central Point; a daughter, Jeannette Conn, Albany; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Melvin L. Farber
The committal service with military honors for Melvin L. Farber will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Home Care and Hospice will officiate.

Mr. Farber, 70, of Talent, died Friday (April 4, 2003) at his home.

He was born March 30, 1933, in Eureka, Calif., to Melvin and Olive (Detillion) Farber, and grew up in Washington.

Mr. Farber worked in logging industry in sawmills. He later worked in construction, and was involved in the construction of Interstate 5 between California and Roseburg.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1953. He served aboard the USS Blue DD744 as a ship’s cook, third class, and saw action in Pusan Harbor and in Japan. He served with his two brothers, Donald and Darrell, in the Korean War.

Mr. Farber was a scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of various fishermen’s guilds.

He enjoyed fishing, wood carving and anything mechanical.

Survivors include a son, Mike, Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepson, Marvin "Jack" Thornbrue, Talent; a sister, Inez Poe, Kennewick, Wash.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Darrell.

Shirley Ann Barker
The memorial service for Shirley Ann Barker will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eagle Point.

Mrs. Barker, 53, of Shady Cove, died Saturday (April 5, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born May 30, 1949, in McKinleyville, Calif., to Albert Sr. and Ruth Elaine (Carol) Bartow. On April 15, 1995, in Reno, Nev., she married Jeremy Barker, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from Weed, Calif.

Mrs. Barker was a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Lucky, cooking, playing cribbage and attending church when she could.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Sheila Moon, Shady Cove, and Charmin Bailey, Medford; a son, Jimoll Bailey, Weed, Calif.; a sister, Lindy Pease, Yreka, Calif.; two brothers, Albert Bartow Jr., and Davy Bartow, Eureka, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Fred M. Nelson
The memorial service for Fred M. Nelson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Medford First Assembly of God. Pastor Lance Lovlin will officiate. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Nelson, 88, of Medford, died Monday (April 7, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford First Assembly of God Mission Fund, 1108 W. Main St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Egeland, N.D., to Edward and Lillian Nelson. On March 31, 1935, in Minot, N.D., he married June Rae Dalhquist, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948 from Seattle.

Mr. Nelson worked in the shipyards in Long Beach, Calif. In Medford, he and his brother owned and operated Nelson’s Construction from 1948 until his retirement in 1979. He also managed real estate property.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Japan during World War II.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the First Assembly of God and was a Gideon for many years.

He enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, traveling and working with his hands.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Bryan A., Medford, and Randy, Sams Valley; two daughters, Julie Nelson, Medford, and Laurie Rodriguez, Dominican Republic; a brother, John, Sams Valley; a sister, Donna Rae Myers, Aumsville; nine grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Rae Nelson; an infant son, Freddy; and two brothers, Kenneth and Don.

Robert Harry McCaw
Robert Harry McCaw, 91, of Jacksonville, died Sunday (April 6, 2003) at his home. The service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Asante Hospice, 2960 Doctors Park Drive, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Feb. 7, 1912, in Prescott, Wash., to Benjamin H. and L. Mae (Temple) McCaw. He attended the University of Hawaii, and the University of Southern California, graduating cum laude. On June 28, 1980, in La Conner, Wash., he married Ruth M. McCaw, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987 from La Conner, Wash.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Fleet from 1942 to 1945.

Mr. McCaw worked in quality assurance for the Department of Defense in the aircraft, missile and space programs.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. McCaw was a craftsman. He enjoyed sailing, hunting, genealogy and travel.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Jerrie Powell, Bobbie Barrett, and Cathy Pearson; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and an infant brother.

Frank Miles Mayfield
Frank Miles Mayfield, 81, of Medford, died Sunday (April 6, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.

He was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Medford, to Frank and Margaret Mayfield. A college graduate, he attended Oregon State University and the University of Oregon. Although he lived in Los Angeles for a short time in 1977, he was a Rogue Valley resident for most of his life.

Mr. Mayfield was a cattle rancher and owned a ranch on the Klamath Marsh and in Post.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Mayfield enjoyed sports and building model railroads.

Survivors include a son, Clint, Medford; two daughters, Lezli Kay Mayfield, Portland, and Shannon Mayfield, Powers.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford.

Chon Olson
The funeral Mass for Chon Olson will be at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. David Schiferl will officiate.

Ms. Olson, 58, of Medford, died April 2, 2003, in Medford.

The arrangements were handled by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Mildred Edwards
The memorial service for Mildred Edwards will be at 6 p.m. today at Conger-Morris Medford Chapel.

Mrs. Edwards, 76, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 2, 2003) at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.

Maria B. Barriga
Maria B. Barriga, 66, of Medford, died Thursday (April 3, 2003) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born March 29, 1937, in Little Rock, Ark., to Hank and Bertha Wealty.

Ms. Barriga was a mother and grandmother. She lived in the Rogue Valley most of her life.

She enjoyed bingo, working with ceramics and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Angela Garrett, Theresa Villa, Brenda Landeros and Fawn Crippen, all Medford; three sons, Ronnie McMillan and Chad Barriga, both Medford, and Shannon Crippen, Central Point; two sisters, Beverly Stivers and Brenda Lee; a brother, Ron Mitchell; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

William ‘Bill’ Shepard Jr.
William "Bill" Alfred Shepard Jr., 61, of Central Point, died Thursday (April 3, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.

He was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Hartford, Conn., to William Alfred and Rita May Shepard. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1963 from Connecticut.

Mr. Shepard worked as a truck driver.

He was a member of the Catholic church.

Mr. Shepard enjoyed gold dredging, fishing, gardening and the outdoors.

Survivors include his companion, Imie Shepard, Central Point; two daughters, Lisa Ann Shepard, and Catherine Shepard, both Gresham; a son, Willy III, Central Point; a brother, Thomas, Central Point; a sister, Kathy Hansen, Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
