Dessie Lee Morehead
Dessie Lee Morehead, 82, of Medford, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, Medford. No service is planned.

She was born March 20, 1920, in Joaquin, Texas, to Arthur and Mae (Reader) Williams. On Feb. 18, 1942, in DeQueen, Texas, She married William C. Morehead, who died in 1994. She moved to the Rogue Valley 15 years ago from Salem.

Mrs. Morehead enjoyed crocheting, quilting, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include four sons, David, Sams Valley, Charles, Central Point, W.C., Las Vegas, and William E., in Arizona; two daughters, Barbara Stubbs, Eagle Point, and Margaret Runyon, in California; a brother, Sonney Williams, Winthrop, Ark.; two sisters, Jessie Woods, Stamps, Ark., and Ivafay Wood, Winthrop, Ark.; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Helen Louise Morgan
The memorial service for Helen Louise Morgan will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday at Rogue Valley Manor in Medford. Chaplain Don Hildebrand of Rogue Valley Manor will officiate. Private interment will be at Roseburg Memorial Gardens, Roseburg.

Mrs. Morgan, 88, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 26, 2003) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Youth for Christ, 400 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Prineville, to Guy and Elizabeth (Ketchum) LaFollette. In June 1937, in Portland, she married Willard Morgan, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Morgan owned and operated the Coquille Stationery Store with her husband for 14 years. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1996 from Coquille.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization) and the Rhododendron Society.

Mrs. Morgan enjoyed reading, doing needlework and camping.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce, Medford, James, Lodi, Calif., and Bob, Seattle; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Rod LaFollette; and a sister, Florence Putney.

Margaret Boutwell Preston
The funeral for Margaret Johanna Boutwell Preston will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment will be at Mountain View cemetery, Ashland.

Mrs. Preston, 92, of Ashland, died Friday (March 28, 2003) at her home.

She was born Sept. 28, 1910, in Boston, to Hans Christian Hansen and Margaret J. Anderson. She married Clinton E. Boutwell, who died in 1947. She later married Banks R. Preston, who died in 1960.

Mrs. Preston was a cosmetics representative, retiring in 1962.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Sweet Adelines, and worked as a hospital volunteer at Kaiser in California.

Mrs. Preston enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald M. Boutwell, Ashland, Richard C. Boutwell, Norfolk, Va., and Thomas L. Boutwell, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters; a brother; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Clinton E. Boutwell Jr., in 1998.

Eldon E. Storey
The memorial service for Eldon E. Storey will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford.

Mr. Storey, 83, of Medford, died March 21, 2003, at Hearthstone in Medford.

Thursday’s obituary omitted the date of the service.

Norman Salyer
The memorial service for Norman Salyer will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Applegate Christian Fellowship in Jacksonville. A reception will follow.

Mr. Salyer, 70, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (March 25, 2003) at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis, c/o Ganesh Raghu, University of Washington Medical Center, P.O. Box 356522, Seattle, WA 98195.

He was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Oakdale, Calif., and moved to the Rogue Valley in 1962, where he spent the rest of his life.

Mr. Salyer retired in 1993 and began building a custom motor coach. From 1998 until his death, he traveled the country.

He enjoyed helping people, snowmobiling, fixing things and taking pictures.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mary, Rogue River; two sons, Joe and Jim, both Central Point; two daughters, Pam Salyer, Portland; and Sheila Salyer York, University Place, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

Ben Andrews
The graveside service for Ben Andrews will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eagle Point National cemetery. The Rev. Robert L. Larson of Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford will officiate.

Mr. Andrews, 88, of Medford, died Tuesday (March 25, 2003) at Rose Haven Nursing Center in Roseburg.

He was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Cliquot, Mo., to Charles and Clara Andrews. On July 5, 1937, in Chadwick, Mo., he married Sarah House, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984 from Garden Grove, Calif.

Mr. Andrews was a maintenance man for the Garden Grove School District in California.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Andrews was a member of Garden Grove Community Church and the Glass Cathedral.

He enjoyed country music, playing horseshoes, walking and camping.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Ron, Medford; a brother, Cliff, Yuma, Ariz.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ken, Virgil and Hugh; and two sisters, Maudy Faye Williams and Linda Claudine.

Glee Sharleen O’Rourke
The memorial service for Glee Sharleen O’Rourke will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Joy Christian Fellowship in Medford.

Ms. O’Rourke, 53, of Medford, died Saturday (March 22, 2003) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Table Rock Christian Fellowship, 2715 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Feb. 25, 1950, in Pierre, S.D., to Ambrose and Lagretta Cahoy O’Rourke. She moved to the Rogue Valley 25 years ago from Los Angeles.

Ms. O’Rourke was a member of Joy Christian Fellowship.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, doing sign language, football and keeping in touch with her family.

Survivors include a son, Shane O’Rourke, Medford; two brothers, Dennis O’Rourke, Colfax, Calif., and Stan, Santa Maria, Calif.; and a sister, Gwen Nelson, Medford. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Orion Damon Garrett
The memorial service for Orion Damon Garrett will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass.

Mr. Garrett, 90, of Grants Pass, died Monday (March 24, 2003) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 S.E. Eighth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526 or to a favorite charity.

He was born July 31, 1912, in Wellington, Texas. He attended Grants Pass High School and Oregon State University. In 1935, he married Laura Louise Flickenger, who died in 1990. In 1990, in Grants Pass, he married Betty DeGeneault, who survives.

Mr. Garrett worked as a hydraulics engineer throughout the Northwest.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Susan Kalamar, Seattle; a son, Gary, Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, Orville, Bellingham, Wash.; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Lawrence Martin Jones
Lawrence Martin Jones, 54, of Lancaster, Calif., formerly of Medford, died March 19, 2003, at his home, of cancer. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, c/o Pro Care Foundation, 1700 Lombard St., Third Floor, Oxnard, CA 93030.

He was born Jan. 22, 1949, in Montebello, Calif. He lived in Medford from 1964 to 1972, and graduated from Medford High School and Southern Oregon University.

After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the United States as well as overseas. He enjoyed flying and flew both Jolly Green helicopters and B-52 planes. He attained the rank of major and retired from the Air Force in 1992. He then went on to work for a military financial planning corporation.

On Jan. 19, 2003, in Lancaster, Calif., he married Susan Watts, who survives.

He served on the Mount Ashland Ski Patrol for several years and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Jones enjoyed the outdoors, camping, running, and water and snow skiing.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Jones, Lancaster, Calif., ; a son, Spencer, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Holly Neal, Napa, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Luther and Charlotte Neuroth, both in South Carolina; his parents, Don and Mickey Jones, Medford; a brother, Steven, Pleasanton, Calif.; a sister, Donnis Parker, Medford; and one granddaughter.

Arrangements: Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, Calif.

Stella Anne Marshall
Stella Anne Marshall, 83, of Ashland, died Tuesday (March 25, 2003) at Mountain View Retirement Center in Ashland. A private service will be held.

She was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Joseph and Anne Meskelunas. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa. In Sioux City, Iowa, she married Melvin Edward Marshall, who died in 1994.

Mrs. Marshall was an accountant for American Bread Co., retiring in 1974.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Allen and Keith John; two sisters, Mary Ming and Anna Passick; a brother, Paul Meskelunas; five grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

George Benjamin Lord
George Benjamin Lord, 34, of Eagle Point, died March 18, 2003, at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service was held.

He was born April 11, 1968, in Compton, Calif., to Thomas and Fern Lord. On Nov. 2, 1992, in Gold Hill, he married Kathryn Peterson, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley six months ago from Salem.

Mr. Lord enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing and the outdoors.

Survivors include four daughters, Chelsey and Amanda Lord, both Medford, and Winona and Valerie Lord, both Salem; a son, Simon, Salem; and a brother, John, Eagle Point.

Helen V. Holmes
The memorial service for Helen V. Holmes will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Holmes, 75, of Medford, died Saturday (May 3, 2003) at her home.

The date of the service was omitted from Wednesday’s obituary.

Richard E. Wilson
The funeral for Richard E. Wilson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home in Grants Pass. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Wilson, 56, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (May 4, 2003) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to 3ABN, P.O. Box 220, West Frankfort, IL 62896, or Better Life TV, P.O. Box 766, Grants Pass, OR 97528.

He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Orange, Calif. On Nov. 25, 1965, in San Diego, he married Gloria Berry, who survives. They moved to Southern Oregon in 1977 from San Diego.

Mr. Wilson worked for Litton from 1977 until they closed in 1994. He then enrolled in the nursing program at the Southern Oregon University campus of Oregon Health & Science University and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1999. From 1998 to 2002, he worked for Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

He served as a radioman 3rd class in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service from 1965 until 1971.

Mr. Wilson was a member of the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Oregon Nursing Association and Phi Theta Kappa.

Mr. Wilson enjoyed riding dune buggys, skiing and golf.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Richard II, Grants Pass, Lance, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Michael, Petaluma, Calif.; his father, Earl, Virginia Beach, Va.; three brothers, Robert, Earl and Bruce, all Grants Pass; a sister, Melanie Ann Wilson, Grants Pass; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen May Brown.

Arrangements: Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.
