Hazel Marie Wood
Hazel Marie Wood, 82, of Medford, died Monday, November 3, 2003 at her residence. No services will be held.

Memorial Contributions may be made to, Better Life Television, P.O. Box 766, Grants Pass, OR 97528.

She was born March 22, 1921 Hazel Marie Puckett in Wendell, ID. On February 17, 1940, in Reno, Nevada, Hazel married Leonard A. Wood, who preceded her in death in 1989. She has lived in the Rogue Valley for 45 years.

She was a nurses aide and also worked for the Medford School District in the cafeteria.

She was active in the Valley View 7th Day Adventist Church in the children's department. She also volunteered in many community services.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her son, Matthew J. Wood of Denver, Co.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary.

Jaci Deanne Hibbert
Jaci Deanne Hibbert, 40, of Tucson, AZ., formerly of Medford, died Oct. 13, 2003 in Tucson. A memorial service has been held.

Memorial contributions may be made to: The Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.

Jaci was born on Aug. 24, 1963 in Klamath Falls, OR to Alden "Hib" Neil Hibbert and Jacqueline Frances Turner. She lived in the Rogue Valley from 1963 to 1996.

She was a 1982 graduate of Medford Senior High School.

Jaci was an artist.

She was a member of the Rogue Valley Agility Club and the Model Horse Club in Tucson.

She enjoyed showing horses, drawing and dog agility.

Survivors include her significant other, Michael A. Cotton of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Arrangements: Desert Rose Cremation and Burial, Tucson.

James Nathaniel Smith
A memorial service celebrating the life of James Nathaniel Smith, who died Wednesday, November 5th in Elko, Nevada, will be held Monday November 10, 2003 at 1 p.m. in the Conger Morris Chapel, Central Point.

Jim was born in Salinas, CA February 6, 1935. He moved to the Rogue valley as a young man. He was a retired farmer and a war veteran.

He is survived by his loving wife; four children and step-children; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

John Alan Geddes
The memorial mass for John Alan Geddes has been held. Inurnment was at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Geddes, 89, of Talent, died Monday, (Nov. 3, 2003) at Ashland Community Hospital.

He was born December 28, 1913 at New York, New York a son of Maude and David Geddes.

Mr. Geddes was raised in New York and was a graduate of Brown University. During World War II, Mr. Geddes served in the U.S. Navy as a sonarman. On September 29, 1961 at Rochester, Minnesota he married the former Eleanor Guage who survives. Mr. & Mrs. Geddes lived in Rochester and Lincoln, Nebraska before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they lived for five years.

Mr. Geddes was a salesman in the telephone equipment industry and retired in 1975. Mr. and Mrs. Geddes moved to Ashland in 1979 and to Talent in 1987.

He was a member of the B.P.O.E #944 in Ashland and Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church.

Mr. Geddes was an avid golfer. He enjoyed music and was known as a music historian.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter Suzanne Turner of Albuquerque, NM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Mass Cards be given in his name to Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland.

Arrangements: Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Dale Jacob Hicks
The memorial service for Dale Jacob Hicks will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2003, at the Sams Valley Community Church, 12002 Duggan Road.

Mr. Hicks, 71, of Central Point, Oregon died Thursday August 7, 2003 at Providence Hospital, Medford.

He was born August 6, 1932 at Boy River, Minnesota, the son of Inaz and Jerome Hicks. He moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon with his family, where he was raised.

In 1958 he moved to Ashland where he married the former Beverly Gregory, on March 17, 1958. They moved to Phoenix, Oregon in 1967, and to Central Point in 1987.

He has worked in the timber industry all his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving, are his wife, Beverly, of Central Point; two sons, Dale Bufton of Portland, and Stephen Hicks, of Central Point; one daughter Deborah Pack of Lexington, Oregon; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Edna M. Clark
The funeral for Edna Marie Clark will be held at 10 a.m. Sun. Aug. 17, at Hillcrest Chapel. Grandson, Pastor Scott Cady of Chico, Calif. will officiate.

Mrs. Clark, 93, of Central Point, died Tues. (Aug. 12, 2003) at Medford Rehabilitation Healthcare Center.

She was a member of the Central Point Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Memorial contributions may be sent to, Better Life Television, P.O. Box 766, Grants Pass, Or. 97528 or Rogue Valley Adventist School, 3675 S. Stage Road, Medford, Or. 97501.

She was born Aug. 15, 1909, in Central Point, to William and Myrtle Hanscom. She married Roy Clark, Dec. 28, 1942 in Reno, Nev. Roy died in 1990.

She worked at the old Sacred Heart Hospital, and Golden Age Nursing Home in Central Point.

Survivors include; 3 sons, Milton Cady, Central Point, Harold Victor Cady, of Gridley, Calif., Lee Clark, of Chemult, OR.; 3 daughters, Betty Hayward, of Central Point, Edith Miller, of Bradenton, FL., and Delores Oberst, of Santa Maria, Calif.; and one brother, Kenneth Hanscom. She has 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Three grandchildren, and one brother, Lloyd Hanscom, preceded her in death.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary.

Edna Stewart
Edna Stewart, 92, resident of Waterford at Three Fountains, passed away August 11, 2003. Edna was born in Wisconsin, and grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Coe College in 1932.

She taught English, Latin and Russian at Medford Senior High School, beginning in 1946 for more than thirty years. She was a resident of Medford since 1946.

She loved teaching and guiding young lives with a love of knowledge. She especially appreciated poetry.

She is survived by her son, Alden, 57, of Seattle, Wash.; and grandsons Reed, 33 of Tempe, Arizona, and John, 32, of Hoboken, New Jersey.

Services will be held Monday, August 18, 2003, at the Medford 3rd Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2141 Brookhurst.

In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated.

Elmer Lucian Ward
Elmer Ward, 90, of Central Point, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at Providence Medford Medical Center. No services are planned.

Mr. Ward was born Oct. 7, 1912, in Hugo, OR., the son of Oliver and Phoebe Clark Ward. He was married to the late Thora Colley Ward for 65 years.

He is survived by his son; Keith Ward, Jacksonville; his daughter, Vada Henderson, of Central Point; 3 grand children, 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 6 brothers and 1 sister.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

Patricia "Trish" Roberts
Trish Roberts, 53, of Central Point, died at home, Aug. 12, 2003. A graveside service will be held at the Eagle Point National cemetery, Mon. Aug. 18, 2003, at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Roberts was born May 24, 1950 in Pendleton, the daughter of Harold and Charlotte French. She married Keith Roberts Apr. 15, 1977 in Hermiston, OR. She had lived in the Medford, and Grants Pass area since moving from Portland in 1985.

Trish enjoyed horseback riding, reading, and was a member of a local horse club.

She attended the New Life Church of God, Trinity Northwest Church and the Cornerstone Church, in Grants Pass.

She is survived by her husband, Keith, of Central Point; son Brian Roberts; step-son, Jason Roberts; step-daughter, Stacey Roberts; sister, Sherry Kligel; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 step-sisters.

Arrangements: Conger Morris Central Point Chapel.

Paul Kenneth McCarrel
Aug. 6, 1956-Aug. 13, 2003 Paul Kenneth McCarrel, 47, passed away at Providence Medford Medical Center, Medford, on Wednesday, (August 13, 2003).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Hope Christian Church, at 325 Oak Street, in Central Point. Dr. Aaron Veach will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Jacksonville cemetery.

Mr.Paul K. McCarrel was born on August 6, 1956, in Ogden, Ut, to Kenneth Leroy Shomer and Larae Koepe. He moved to the Rogue Valley 32 years ago from San Diego, Calif.

Mr. McCarrel was a church Member of Hope Christian Church in Central Point.

He was a avid sports fan. He enjoyed Indy racing and the Portland Trail Blazers.

He loved his family with all his heart. Mr. McCarrel was the owner operator of McCarrel Concrete Construction for 20 years.

On January 21, 1989, in Medford, Paul married Debra Hanna, who survives.

Also, surviving is his daughter, Stephanie McCarrel, of Medford and two step-sons, Garrett Hanna, of Eugene, OR., and Brian Hanna, of Roseburg, OR; He is survived by his mother, Larae McCarrel of Jacksonville, OR.; and 5 sisters, Pam, Alison, Valerie, Stephanie, and Jessica; and one brother, Sheldon McCarrel. He was preceded in in death by brother, Pete, father, Kenneth Shomer and step-father, Terry McCarrel.

Abbey Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.

Ray Ernest Lukinich
Ray Ernest Lukinich, 73, of Medford, passed away Tues., Aug. 12, 2003. Memorial Service will be at Eagle Point National cemetery, Sun., Aug. 17, at 1:30 p.m.

Rochelle Ann Mendez
Services will be later for Rochelle Ann Mendez, who died Thursday in Aptos, after a long battle with cancer.

She was 57. A native of Santa Cruz, she was known for her love of animals, arts, and crafts, and gardening. She was passionate about Christmas, which she celebrated year-around.

She also was a member of Best Friends Animal Rescue. Nick, a Rottweiler, was her faithful companion.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Dave Mendez of Aptos; daughters, Pamela Crum of Soquel, and Michelle Williams, Susan Setser, and Melody Posey, all of Medford; Mother, Lillian Phillips, of Scotts Valley; brother, Bill Hudson, of Scotts Valley; sister Jan Rush, of Nevada City; and 10 grandchildren.

Private services will be later. Arrangements: are by Oakwood Memorial Chapel.

Contributions are preferred to Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz County, Box 66700, Aptos, CA. 95001.

Sarah L. Andrews
The funeral for Sarah L. Andrews will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Ascension Lutheran Church, Medford. Pastor Bob Larson will officiate.

Mrs. Andrews, 86, of Medford, died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2003) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Providence Hospice, Providence Community Health Foundation, 940 Royal Ave., Suite 410, Medford, Or. 97504.

She was born on May 27, 1917 in Chadwick, Missouri, a daughter of William and Lillian (Lemler) House. On July 5, 1937 in Chadwick, Missouri, she married Ben Andrews.

Mrs. Andrews was a homemaker and mother.

Survivors include; a son, Ron Andrews and daughter-in-law, Cindy, of Medford; six sisters, Maude Fleeman, Pauline Dobbins, Beaulah Maynard, Marie Applegate, Blanche Keene, and Pearl Bilyeu; a brother, John House; and her grandchildren, Benjamin Andrews, and Jessica Andrews.
