Everett M. Duncan
A graveside service for Everett M. Duncan will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.

Mr. Duncan 69, of Gold Hill, formerly of Columbus, MS died January 13, 2004 at Medford Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on April 8, 1934 in Fayette, AL. He had lived in Gold Hill for the last 25 years.

Survivors include sons, Ronald Duncan of Medford, Mark Duncan of University Place, WA, Timothy Duncan of Concord, CA, Steven Duncan of Medford; daughter, Jamie Holden of Jackson, MS; grandsons, Ben Holden and Michael Duncan; granddaughters, Becky Holden, Chelsea Duncan, Mandy Duncan, and Cora Duncan; two sisters, Mildred Duncan and Margaret Patterson both of Columbus, MS. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Duncan.

Frances Dalporto
Frances Dalporto, 85, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away Jan. 21, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

She enjoyed owning the Belfry Gift Shop in Scottsdale, traveling and her flower garden.

Survivors include her daughters, Anna Ray Warner and Kay Frances; grandchildren Mark, Lisa and Richard Warner, and Stephen Disher; great grachildren, Katelyn, Christopher, Brandon, and Garrett.

Horst H. Wauer
Horst H. Wauer died on January 24, 2004 in Medford Oregon at the age of 96. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1020 East Main Street in Medford on January 29 at 1p.m. Pastor William Lehmann officiating.

Horst Wauer was the loving husband of Margaret M. Wauer of Medford; and the loving father of Aleta M. Wieneke, of Salem Oregon; Brent Wauer, of Tucson Arizona; Helene J. Uhreen, of Medford Oregon; and Roland H. Wauer, of Victoria Texas. Six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive him.

Horst was born in Dresden, Germany on July 22, 1907. He came to America with his parents in 1921, settling in Salt Lake City, Utah, where some of his relatives already lived. There he finished his education. After several years of business training, he became manager of an S.H. Kress store in Idaho Falls. In 1947 he moved to Petaluma, California, where he opened his own store, and later another in Santa Rosa, California. He semi-retired in Santa Rosa in 1972.

As a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church, he became a member of Saint Mark of Santa Rosa until he and his wife Margaret moved to Medford in 1990 to live closer to their daughters and families. In Medford, they became members of Saint Peter Lutheran Church.

Horst's earthly remains will be laid to rest at Siskiyou Memorial Park following the memorial service.

Laurence "Larry" Sankey
Oct. 25, 1939 - Jan. 22, 2004 Laurence "Larry" D. Sankey, 64, passed away at his home in Central Point on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004.

A committal service will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National cemetery. Larry's son, Mark, will be returning from deployment in Iraq for the services. Chaplain Earl Best will officiate.

Mr. Sankey was born Oct. 25, 1939 in Redding, CA to Ervin and Thelma (Humiston) Sankey. Larry was a descendant of the first wagon train that came west on the Oregon Trail in 1843.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 and in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963.

Larry married Nadine Woodcook in Gardnerville, CA on April 30, 1966. He worked for 17 years as a fire captain with the California Dept. of Forestry, retiring in 1979. Larry and Nadine moved to the Rogue Valley from Sonora, CA following Larry's retirement.

Larry was a member of the Little Butte Mountain Men and had won many awards as top shooter of black powder rifles. He also was given the nickname "Tin Man" because of a heart transplant he received in 1989. He enjoyed black powder shooting and was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine of Central Point; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Teresia Sankey; Eddy and Megan Sankey of Central Point; daughter, Sheila Harrington of Tualatin, OR; mother, Thelma Austin of Medford, OR; and six grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.

Roger Barker
A remembrance gathering for Roger Barker will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at his brother's house, 541 Souvenir Street, Medford.

Mr. Barker, 47, of Eugene (formerly of Medford ) died Jan. 17, in Eugene.

He was born on March 13, 1956 in Medford. He had lived in Medford most of his life.

Mr. Barker worked as a mill worker.

He is survived by a brother, Rourke Barker of Medford.

Saloma G. Bingman
The graveside service for Saloma G. Bingman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Eagle Point National cemetery. J.C. Holden will officiate.
Mrs. Bingman, 92, of Sedona, Ariz., formerly of Medford and Grants Pass, died March 14, 2002, at Kachina Point Health Center.

She was born Saloma Stillwell on Aug. 26, 1909, in Medford and attended elementary school and high school in Medford. She also lived in Grants Pass. On May 29, 1949, in Boise, Idaho, she married H.R. Bingman, who died in 1987.

Mrs. Bingman was a beautician for many years in Klamath Falls. She retired from a cashier position with Sears in Boise, Idaho, in 1965.

Survivors include two sons, John Foster, Boise, Idaho, and Fred Foster, Sedona, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Shirley Rothleutner, Sumner, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Arrangements: Sedona Funeral Home Inc., Sedona, Ariz.

Helen Kathryn Roadman
The memorial service for Helen Kathryn Roadman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Wilson’s Chapel of Roses, Roseburg. Internment will be at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Roadman, 87, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 21, 2002) at Farmington Square in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Roseburg, 432 SE Kane St., Roseburg, OR 97470, or to The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

She was born on June 25, 1914, in Roseburg, a daughter of David and Helen Hennigh. On Sept. 3, 1937, she married Ted Roadman, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Roadman attended elementary school in Roseburg through eighth grade, she was a graduate of Roseburg High School. She moved to Birmingham, Ala., and attended Birmingham Southern College for one year. She moved to Oregon and attended Oregon State University.

She worked at the telephone company in Roseburg. She was a leader in Campfire Girls and Job’s Daughters.

Mrs. Roadman was a 50-year member of the Oakland Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She belonged to the local chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution.

She enjoyed working in the yard, displaying her flowers, traveling with the Masonic camping group, the Sojourners Christian Camping group, and touring the country with her husband.

Survivors include two sons, David, Medford and Ken, Bend; two daughters, Sharon Malley, Portland, and Joanne Clark, Port Gamble, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses, Roseburg.

Jay B. Cochran
Mr. Jay B. Cochran of Phoenix died Friday, May 24, 2002, at his home. No services are planned.

Memorial contributions can be made to Lions Sight and Hearing Center, Vocational Fund, 228 N. Holly St., Medford, OR 97501.

Mr. Cochran, 95, was born Nov. 30, 1906, in Brownsville to William and Flora Cochran. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1930 and worked as a logger for many years before starting his own company, J.C. Pump Service, which he operated for 21 years.

He married Margaret Kent in 1946, and she preceded him in death. He then married Margaret McDowell in 1968, who survives.

Mr. Cochran was a handyman and an inventor. He enjoyed playing the guitar and golf and was an honorary member of the Oak Knoll’s Men Club. He was also an avid San Francisco 49er’s fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his son Bill Clark of Phoenix; his daughters Karen Sparks of Albuquerque, N.M., Diane Kubiak of Vancouver, Wa., and Donna Floyd of Medford; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Cochran; his sisters Alda Wolfe and Mildred Green; his brother, Robert Cochran; and a great granddaughter, Jessica Hawley.

Funeral arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Carol Martin
The funeral for Carol Martin will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. The Rev. Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospital will officiate. Mrs. Martin, 57, of Gold Hill, died Saturday at her home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1944, in Las Cruces, N.M., a daughter of James and Willie Mae Armstrong. On April 17, 1983, in Las Cruces, she married Floyd Martin, who survives.

The couple moved to Oregon in 1978 from Los Gatos, Calif., living part-time in both the Rogue Valley and Salem until settling here in 1991.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed entertaining, gardening and travel.

Survivors in addition to her husband are a son, Randy Martin, of Salem; two daughters, Jamie Thomas of Eugene, and Becky Weaver, of La Grande; a sister, Patsy Crup, of Upper Lake, Calif; five brothers, Franklin Armstrong, of Dewitt, Ark., Charles Armstrong, of Van Buren, Ark., Rick Armstrong, of Santa Clara, Calif., Larry Armstrong and Wayne Armstrong, both of Nice, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister and a brother. Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

George Zuspann
A private service is planned for George Albert Zuspann. Mr. Zuspann, 71, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday (May 22, 2002) in Kingman, Ariz.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to a chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Goodland, Kan., a son of George and Iris Zuspann. He graduated from Medford High School in 1949. On Dec. 4, 1951, at Island, Wash., he married Patricia Hamilton.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954.

Mr. Zuspann worked as a news production director for several television stations. He enjoyed hunting, travel and sports and was active in Alcoholics Anonymous.

Survivors include a son, Dan Zuspann, of Wasilla, Wash.; three daughters, Debbie Kacenga, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Lorena Hergenrether, of Burns, and Robin Sparks, of Central Point; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Elvera L. Walker
Elvera L. Walker, 97, of Medford, died Monday, January 5, 2004 at a local foster care.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at New Life Church of God, 1870 W. Stewart Avenue, Medford, OR 97501. Pastor Everett Lobaugh of New Life Church of God will officiate.

She was born August 23, 1906 in Monument, Oregon daughter to Newt & Anna (Leslie). She lived in the Rogue Valley since 1950, moving from Idaho.

Elvera was a hard working woman, owned a resaurant from 1962, Pablo's Restaurant, for many years.

She loved gardening, painting, playing the piano, golfing and bowling. She was the best mother any children could have and we loved and appreciated her very, very much. (Mom... we're very proud of you.) Survivors include a son, Ron Kinard of Longview, WA; daughters, Leila Godard of Medford, Charlene Martin of Hillsboro, Reba Cox of Medford, and Dora Peyton of Medford; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Kinard, and her second husband, Paul Walker.

Jeanette M. Sbrazza
Jeanette M. Sbrazza died peacefully with grace in the care of her daughters at the age of 85 on Monday, January 5, 2004.

She was the dearly beloved wife of the late Mario Sbrazza, devoted husband of 53 years; most loving mother of Marsha Montbriand and her husband, Michael of Sacramento, and of Shari Sbrazza and her friend, Bob Parker of Santa Rosa; adored grandmother of Phillip Montbriand and his wife, Jill; and cherished great-grandmother of Mitchell and Elliott Montbriand, all of Sacramento.

She was raised in Santa Barbara. While a WWII medical secretary at Hoff Hospital, she met her "one and only" Mario, and they married in 1944 at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara. She retired to devote herself to her family, church, PTA and civic group in San Pablo, nurturing everyone with utmost care and unconditional love. After living in Hemet and in Medford from 1984 to 1996, she moved to Santa Rosa.

Services arranged by Daniels Chapel of the Roses in Santa Rosa, CA. Interment at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.

Her sweet kindness will live in our hearts forever.

Marlene L. G. Magruder
The funeral services for Marlene Lee Gardner Magruder will be at 1 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 111 Clay Street, Ashland, OR. Private interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford, OR.

Mrs. Magruder, 66, formerly of Ashland, died Monday, January 5, 2004 at Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas, NV.

Marlene was born December 9, 1937 in Ashland, OR to Albert and Helen (Mansfield) Gardner. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1955 and attended Beauty College in Medford. She moved from the Rogue Valley in the late 1950's, and became a mortgage broker in Mt. Vernon, WA. Marlene lived in Pahrump, NV the past five years.

On November 8, 1998 in Ashland, she married Radford Magruder, who survives.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, Radford of Pahrump, NV, include three sons, David Tuff of Mt. Vernon, WA, Michael Tuff of Mt. Vernon, WA, Ronald Tuff of Sequim, WA; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Shirley Gardner of Rexburg, ID; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Jordan of Hermiston; mother, Helen Gardner of Pahrump, NV; seven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert, in 1989.

ROBERT J. MASON, JR.
Robert J. Mason, Jr., 83, of Medford, died Tuesday (January 6, 2004) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. No services are planned at this time.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Providence Medford Medical Center Foundation, Stroke Rehabilitation Center, 1111 Crater Lake Avenue, Medford, OR 97504.

Mr. Mason was born June 13, 1920 at Logansport, IN to Robert and Flossie (Isaacs) Mason.

He served in the U. S. Air Force for over twenty two years, retiring in 1963 as a Lt. Col. He was a graduate of Purdue University. He has lived in the Rogue Valley for the past twenty years.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Shelley Mason; three grandsons, Bryan, Christopher and Aaron Mason, all of South Lake Tahoe, CA. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacia Mason in 1986.
