Syble Levon Wilson
The funeral mass for Syble Levon Wilson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the VA Domiciliary, Chapel B, White City.

Mrs. Wilson, 68, of White City, died Monday (July 26, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born on Aug.30, 1935 in Bisbee, AZ to Jack and Pearl Adams. She was raised by her grandparents and became a Catholic Nun. She taught school in Stockton, CA for many years. She left the Catholic order due to poor health. She married Raymond Wilson in Phoenix AZ in 1970. They moved to the Rogue Valley 1973.

Mrs. Wilson belonged to the Preceptor Alpha Iota sorority for 25 year years, and a member of the Mended Hearts. She attended Church at the VA Domiciliary.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; foster son, Marvin Rice of Illinois; brother, Jerry Adams of Mexico; step-brother, John Adams of Montana; and step-sister, Judy McGibbon of White City; and her many friends and sorority sisters.

She will be sadly missed but will live in our hearts forever.

Colonel McGregor
Lenoir Church, M. D. A memorial service in thanksgiving for the life of Dr. McGregor L. Church will be held on Thursday July 29, 2004 at 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland. Mac was born on August 29, 1929 in Portland OR and died surrounded by his loving family, on July 25th, at Providence Medical Center in Medford.

He married Linda Brown in 1950 with whom he had 5 children. Mac graduated from Stanford in 1951 and from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1956. He married Diane McPhail in 1972. After Diane's death, he married Catharine Foyston in 1976. Catharine was the love of his life and brought him joy to the end of his days.

He retired a Colonel from the USAF after serving since 1957 in active service and the Oregon Air National Guard, Mac was the patriarch of a large and extended family of 12 children and stepchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife Catharine, his children McGregor (Sarva-drk das), Susan, Catharine, Robin, Charles, John, Christopher, Lise, Alex, Kathy, Jamie, and Meaghan; and their spouses; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Emily Bergman
Emily Bergman, 94, passed away July 24, 2004 at Three Fountains Nursing Home. After suffering from Alzheimer's for the past five years.

She is survived by her son, Paul R. Godfrey and his wife Judy of Central Point, OR; a daughter, Judith Ellsworth of Pennsauken, NJ; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Bergman, a brother Richard Riley of Oakham Mass, and a son-in-law Carl Ellsworth of Pennsauken, NJ.

Emily was born in Worchester, Mass. She moved to Gardena, CA. in the 1930s, via Panama. She lived her last years with her son and daughter-in-law in Central Point prior to her illness.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd. Medford.

Herbert Jordan Osborn
Herbert Jordan Osborn, 91, of Oakland (formerly of Medford) died July 14, 2004 in Roseburg, OR. A memorial service has been held.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1912 in Napa, CA, to Charles and Lotte (Jordon) Osborn. Herbert married Ethel Rose Dugan on June 22, 1940, in Vallejo, CA. In 1947, they moved to Medford, OR.

Herbert was a self-employed carpenter contractor. He went to work for Todd Construction in Portland, OR, as Head Foreman in 1968. Herbert supervised the construction in Portland, as Head Foreman in 1968. Herbert supervised the construction of many large buildings, including the additions to the Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union in Portland. When Herbert retired in 1979, he built his dream home in Oakland. Many people in Oakland and Sutherlin will remember him for his well witching talent; in over 20 years he had only one dry well. Herbert was an elder in the First Christian Church in Elkton, OR.

Survivors include his children; James Osborn and wife Sharon of Alameda, CA, Daniel Osborn and wife Eileen of Aurora, OR; William Osborn of Gold River, CA; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister Eva Witham of Willows, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Rose Osborn in 1999; a sister, and two brothers.

Marvin W. Wright
Marvin W. Wright of Prospect died Friday (July 23, 2004) at Roseburg VA Hospital.

He was born Sept. 27, 1933 at Albuquerque, NM and raised in Edgewood, NM.

Mr. Wright served in the U.S. Army and worked as a timber faller, working for Skeeters, McGrew Bros., and RW Jacks Logging. He owned and operated Marve's Refrigeration for six years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and running his hound dogs.

He is survived by his wife Flo of Prospect; son Robert Wright of Burns, OR; a sister, Nadine Zmrhal of Trail; granddaughter, Krissandra; and grandson, Raymond of Burns. He was preceded in death by his father Wesley and mother Pauline Warman, and a son Billy Leon Wright of Moorhead, MN.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Rocco Grey Taylor
Rocco Grey Taylor was born April 20, 2004 to proud parents, Martin and Serene Taylor.

Rocco died July 21, 2004.

He touched everyone who met him and the world is less for losing him. For such a little guy, the void left is unfathomable and unfillable.

Go with God, son. We miss you deeply and love you entirely. Memorial services will be announced. It's a cold world.

Arnold 'Red' W. Brown
Arnold William "Red" Brown died Friday, (July 30, 2004) at his home.

He was born on Feb. 4, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He married Doris June (Hall) Brown, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Brown worked for Brotherton Pipeline in Medford until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. 7th Army European Theatre during WW II.

Mr. Brown was a Master of the Upper Applegate Grange several times. He loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include; a son Gary Young; a daughter, Joan Owens ; brothers Jim and Lyle; sisters, Priscilla and Loyce; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Craig Donald Watkins
Craig Donald Watkins, 41, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Aug. 7, 2004) in Grants Pass.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at Indian Mary Park with Chaplain Patrice Robichaux officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Craig was born on March 29, 1963 in Eureka, CA, He had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1967 and moved to Grants Pass 16 years ago.

He volunteered as a chef for local activities/ organizations such as Cub Scouts, groups, and fundraisers.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, cooking, and friendships.

Survivors include two daughters, Shannon Watkins, and Alysha Wright and her husband Josh, all of Grants Pass; a son, Andy Watkins of Grants Pass; his mother and step-father, Joy and Gary Scarborough of Medford; his father and wife, Donald and Patty Watkins of Central Point; brother, Mark Watkins of Williams; grandson, Zachary Wright; a nephew Charlie Watkins; and niece Anghard Watkins.

Floyd Worden
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 23, 2004 at 12:30 p.m., at Eagle Point Church of the Nazarene, Eagle Point for well-known Gospel Singer, Floyd Charlie Rufas Worden. He departed this earth to eternity with his Master on August 4, 2004.

He was born January 30, 1933 to Other Floyd Worden and Pebble Diamond Nicholson Worden in a strangers home in the small town of Indiahoma, Oklahoma. His parents were pioneers in the Assembly of God movement along with his grandfather R.C. Nicholson and many aunts and uncles. On May 6, 1979 he married Eula Johnson Polete in Baldwin Park, California, where they resided until September 1981, when they moved to the Rogue Valley and resided on their little farm in Sams Valley where he raised chickens, goats, pigs, and rabbits. Mrs. Worden survives.

His other survivors include: his son, the Rev. Dr. Elijah Warden and his wife Krista of Chandler, TX; his daughter Janice Gale Powell of Crandall, TX; two step-sons: Stanley Arthur Polete and his wife Diane of Shady Cove and Robert Polete-Worden, San Luis Obispo, California. He had 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Also included in his family are adopted children, Debbi Nachamkin, Wanda Rene Murrell, Cindy Van Camp Graham, Bruce Nachamkin, Joella Gallaway, and Art Ingraham all of the Rogue Valley. He is also survived by a sister, Flois and her husband Carroll Jones of Springdale, Arkansas and a half sister, Mari Wymore and husband Russell of Madras, Oregon, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and church families.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, one sister and one grandson.

Internment will be at the National cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon, followed by a potluck dinner/supper, place to be announced at the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to defray costs, can be made at any Premier West Bank to the Floyd Worden Memorial Fund, or given to the church office of Set Free Christian Fellowship or Shady Cove Assembly of God.

Giovanna Paola Wharton
Giovanna Wharton, of Medford, died peacefully at Brookhurst Cottage on Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2004) one week before her 87th birthday.

In the spirit of celebrating her life instead of mourning death, she requested no services to be held. She was born on Aug. 24, 1917 in Monastero Vasco, Cuneo, Italy to Gabriel and Vittoria Zecchino. Her early childhood was spent in the Piemonte Region of Italy. Followed by more schooling and married life in Valparaiso, Chile and Lima, Peru.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Eric Sampford Holmes. She is survived by her present husband of 30 years, Bruce Alan Wharton; her two children, Eric Paul Holmes and Vicky Holmes; five step-children, Robert, Sean, Mary, Claire, Patrick; and two great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of the Catholic University of Valparaiso and the University of Chile and was a Registered Accountant. Mrs. Wharton enjoyed and pursued many forms of artwork, samples of which are regarded as family treasures. Also, during her later years, she was a volunteer interpreter/ translator at several large hospitals.

Many thanks go out to the staff at Brookhurst Cottage, to the Providence Hospice Center, and to friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or to The American Cancer Society.

Melvin Lee Peterson
Melvin Lee Peterson, 77, of Medford, died Thursday (Aug. 19, 2003) at his home. Arrangements; Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Myron Hamilton Russ
A memorial service and inurnment for Myron Hamilton Russ will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 23, at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Russ died August 13, 2004, in Medford after a valiant four-year battle with prostate cancer. He was 87.

Myron was born on June 8, 1917, in Tuttle, ND, to Earl F. Russ and Iva Beall Russ. Upon graduation from high school in St. John, ND, he enrolled in the U. of North Dakota, graduating in 1939 with a degree in Civil Engineering, a member of Theta Chi.

On December 8, 1941, Myron enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He trained at the Naval Academy, then served aboard the USS Spica in the Aleutian campaign, the USS Lakewood Victory in the South Pacific, and the Coast Guard Cutter Taney in the Okinawa campaign. He retired from the US Naval Reserve in 1977 as a Commander.

On February 16, 1946, in Richfield, MN, Myron married Helen Frances Stiles. Their four children were born in Richland and Kennewick, WA. Myron was an elder in the Kennewick Presbyterian Church, member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford, Elfun Society at GE, ASCE, and the Naval Reserve Association. He loved his family, reading, current events, travel and photography, hiking and gardening.

Myron was a modest, gentle man who did not like his accomplishments known, but his extensive career included Army Engineers in Tulsa, OK, Bureau of Reclamation in Denver, CO, and 32 years with General Electric at Richland, WA, San Jose, CA, Tokyo, Japan, and Alhambra, CA. After commuting to Tokyo for several years as Project Manager of Fukushima nuclear power plants, he spent 3 years in Tokyo as liaison between GE and Tokyo Electric Power Co. He retired in 1980 and he and his wife moved to The Villages, San Jose, CA, then to Rogue Valley Manor in 1999.

Myron is survived by his beloved wife of 58½ years, Helen, and four children: Earl "Rusty" (Jan) of Mercer Is., WA, David (Kathleen) of Los Gatos, CA, Gordon of Bow, WA, and Holly (Harold) Smelt of Tacoma, WA; as well as 8 grandchildren: Jamison, Blair, Trevor and Chelsie Russ of Mercer Is., Wyatt and Tucker Russ of Bow, WA, Tyler and Brenna Smelt of Tacoma, and 2 step grandchildren: Jonathan Stage of Los Gatos, CA, and Nicholas Stage of Portage, WI, also sister Jean (Roy) Neville of Pebble Beach, CA. He will be greatly missed by family and all who knew him.

Memorials may be made to Hospice at Providence Hospital or to the Rogue Valley Manor Health Center Fund.

Dejah Soleil Camille Foster
Dejah Soleil Camille Foster was born and died August 21, 2004 to parents Rebecca Moser and Jearld Foster Jr. She weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces, and was 20 inches long. She will always be remembered as our beautiful baby angel, and will forever be in our hearts.

In addition to her parents, Dejah is survived by her siblings, Kayliana and Trevahn Foster of Central Point; grandparents, Margaret Moser of Medford, Thomas Moser of Central Point, Sherry Charles of Kirkwood, MO, Jearld Foster Sr. of Maplewood, MO; great-grandma, Elizabeth Moser of Central Point; and great-great grandma Comelia Claiborne (her namesake) of Kirkwood, MO. A funeral for Dejah will be held August 27, 2004 at Eastwood Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. A private graveside service will follow. Arrangements will be handled by Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made in Dejah's name to the Children's Advocacy Center at 816 W. 10th Street, Medford, OR 97501.

Elizabeth H. Meiran
Elizabeth H. Meiran, 91, of Medford, died Saturday (Aug. 21, 2004) at her home. Her wish was to be cremated. Arrangements; Conger-Morris Funeral Home, Medford.

Ernest A. Lewy
Ernest A. Lewy, 77, of Central Point, died August 23, 2004 at Providence Medford Medical Center. No services are planned.

Mr. Lewy was born July 8, 1927 at Bakersfield, CA. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific Railroad for 38 years. Earnest married Ella S. on May 4, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Bakersfield, CA.

Survivors include his wife Ella of Central Point; a brother Ed of Seattle, WA; three step children; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are with Perl Funeral Home.

Harold Jay Hansen
Harold Jay Hansen, 74, of Eagle Point, died August 23, 2004 in Medford. He moved to the Rogue Valley 13 years ago from Sacramento, CA.

A funeral service will be on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Harold was born May 6, 1930 in Mantua, Utah to Guy and Alta (Frodsham) Hansen. On July 2, 1972 in Reno, Nevada, he married the former Catherine Nora Hoadley, who survives.

He was a building contractor. He loved wood working, making bird feeders and gardening.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife, Nora of Eagle Point; two sons, Scott and Steve Hansen of Eagle Point; one step-son, Danny Hoadley of Gold Hill; two step-daughters, Cathy Hart of Lanark, IL and Debbie Durgan of Rescue, CA; one sister, Donna Larson of Boise, ID; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may pay their respects one hour prior to service time at the Conger-Morris Chapel.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.
