Antoinette F. Tomko

March 24, 1935 - January 1, 2004

Antoinette (Toni) Forbes Tomko age 68 of Moreland Hills, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 1, 2004 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

She was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1935 she was the daughter of the late John Laing Forbes and Doris Dittmer Forbes Mechling.

Mrs. Tomko had been employed as a executive secretary for various firms through out her life, she retired as a executive secretary for the Internal Revenue Service.

Mrs. Tomko was a graduate of Butler High School and Allegheny College. She was very active with the Kappa Alpha Theta Women's Fraternity up until her death.

Mrs. Tomko is survived by her husband Thomas Tomko whom she married on February 13, 1964
and first cousins: Gail Ciccarello of Butler, Pennsylvania; Melissa Gitlin of Bamburg, Germany; Geoffry Gitlin of Atlanta, Georgia; Beth Gitlin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Lynne Wells of Bradenton, Florida; and Sharon Day of Rumson, New Jersey.

Friends and family of Antoinette Tomko will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be from the funeral home on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Kevin Bowen of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church in America Officiating. Interment will follow in the North Side cemetery Butler, Pennsylvania.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation 8740 Founders Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46268

Katalin Maria Borvendeg

May 30, 1966 - January 2, 2004

Katalin Maria Borvendeg, age 37 of West Pearl Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 2, 2004 at 1:15 p.m. at the West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a result of complications of childbirth.

Born on May 30, 1966 in Szony, Hungary, she was the daughter of Jozsef Borvendeg and Etelka Kolompar.

Katalin received a PhD from The Hungarian University of Physical Education in Budapest, Hungary.
She was a professor at Slippery Rock University and also at Butler County Community College.

Katalin is survived by her husband
Nelson Ng whom she married on August 17, 1996, her son whom was just born, Benjamin Lee Borvendeg- Ng, her father Jozsef Borvendeg of Hungary, one brother Attila Borvendeg of Hungary. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Friends and family of Katalin Borvendeg will be received on Friday, January 16, 2004 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC, 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 9:00 P.M. Interment will be in Hungary.

L. Freeman Hall

August 14, 1909 - January 3, 2004

L. Freeman Hall, 94 formerly of Thornwood Road, Meadowood, Butler, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 1:10 p.m. at Shelbourne Assisted Living.

Born August 14, 1909 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Loyal F. Hall and Linnie Louise Bonner.

Mr. Hall worked as a mill representative at Armco for 40 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Hall attended Westminster College in New Wilmington and Beckley College in Harrisburg. He was a member of Armco Management Club and a charter member of Butler Armco Country Club. He has played golf since the age of 8 years old.

Mr. Hall is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William Bryson and Barbara J. Hall of Morgantown, West Virginia, two grandsons, W. Bryson Hall and Andrew J. Hall of Morgantown, West Virginia.

Mr. Hall is preceded in death by his wife, Elisabeth S. Bryson Hall, who passed away on January 10, 2003 and by a sister and a brother.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, from Tuesday, January 6, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Clark Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in North Side cemetery.

Contributions may be sent to Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 or to HOPE Hospice, 3292 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15237.

Fern E. Minehart

October 23, 1917 - April 1, 2004

Fern E. (Worsk) Minehart, born in Hilliards, Pennsylvania on October 23, 1917 went home to be with her Lord on April 1, 2004 at the age of 86.

Preceeded by her husband, John, who died April 14, 1981, her parents Letitia Stillwagon and George Worsk, three sisters and two brothers.

A devoted mother, Fern is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Robert B. (Kathleen) Walker, Mrs. William R. (Dorothy) Heidenreich both of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Howard L. (Brenda) Jaillet of Easley, South Carolina, Mrs. Tish Burris of Louisville, Kentucky, and Mrs. Blaine H. (Nancy) Claypoole of Petrolia, Pennsylvania, thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including Mrs. Richard (Lois) Larry who was like a daughter to her.

Fern's love for the Lord was shown in her daily life. Though confined to home she was an active prayer warrior and a member of Christ's Outreach Church. She enjoyed reading, walking, and had a genuine love for people. She worked for Lowals and Troutman Department Stores, did laundry in her home, worked in the food department of Butler Senior High School and Butler Memorial Hospital and served as president of TOPS club and Golden Agers Club of the Y.W.C.A.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Friday, April 2, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m..

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Martin Hardy and Reverend Dr. David West Officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill cemetery.

Melvin W. Crispin

December 10, 1930 - February 12, 2004

Melvin (Mel) W. Crispin, age 73 of Miller Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. at the Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on December 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Russell Crispin and Florence Faust Crispin.

Mr. Crispin was an employee of the former Butler Vulcanizing and later owned and operated Mel's Water Filtering Service. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Butler and the 700 Club. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

Mr. Crispin is survived by his wife Nancy J. Miller whom he married April 30, 1956, one son, Charles Leroy Crispin of Jacksonville, Arkansas, one daughter, Mary Margaret Crispin of Butler, Pennsylvania, one granddaughter, two brothers, Gerald Crispin and Ronald Crispin of Butler, Pennsylvania, one sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Violet) Rihel of Butler, Pennsylvania, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Crispin was preceded in death by one sister.

Friends and family of Melvin Crispin will be received Monday, February 16, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Funeral Services will follow at 9:00 p.m. with the Reverend J. David Panther of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Internment will be in The Butler County Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the 700 Club or to The First United Methodist Church, 200 East North St. Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Thomas H. Coyle, Jr.

June 13, 1921 - February 13, 2004

Thomas H. Coyle, Jr., 82 of Chestnut Drive, Butler, died at Friday, February 13, 2004 at 6:30 a.m. in U.P.M.C. Passavant Hospital.

Born June 13, 1921 in Towanda, PA, he was the son of Thomas Harold Coyle, Sr. and Lela C. Burgess.

Mr. Coyle was employed as a scout executive for Moraine Trails Council and for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Mr. Coyle was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Moraine Trail Council, the Rotary Club of Butler, Mansfield University Foundation, Butler United Way, Meals on Wheels, and Associated Artists of Butler County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving WWII and he was a member of the American Legion #117.

Surviving are his two daughters, Mrs. John (Colleen) Oszustowicz of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Bruce (Constance) Mazzoni of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, a son, Timothy A. Coyle of Marietta, Oklahoma, five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Coyle was preceded in death by his wife, Leatrice Aleene Cunningham who died July 24, 2001 and by his two sisters.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday February 15, 2004 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm to 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

Services will be held at the St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Monday February 16, 2004 at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in Indian Gap National cemetery in Annville, PA.

Clair "Bus" Wise

March 19, 1921 - February 20, 2004

Clair "Bus" Wise, 82 of West Jefferson Street, Butler, died Friday, February 20, 2004 in Butler V A Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Alvin P. Wise and Alice Monks.

He was employed as an electrician in construction for the County of Butler at Sunnyview Home.

Mr. Wise was a member of Summit United Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 249 and American Legion Post 117. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and WWII.

Surviving are three sons, Alvin L. Wise of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, Michael V. Wise of The Woodlands, Texas, Dennis G. Wise of Butler, Pennsylvania, eight Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Helen Campbell of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Florence Leslie of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Martha Herold of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Joan Bachman of Butler, Pennsylvania, one brother, Raymond Wise of Butler, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Willa Mae Rice Wise, who was deceased on August 2, 1991, one sister and two brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, from Sunday February 22, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Monday February 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Brewer of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Summit United Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Harry M. Petsinger

October 8, 1918 - February 24, 2004

Harry M. Petsinger, Jr., 85 of Gibsonia, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 in U.P.M.C. Passavant Hospital.

Born October 8, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harry M. Petsinger, Sr. and Bertha K. Smith Petsinger.

Mr. Petsinger was raised in Butler, Pennsylvania. He became a branch manager for Mellon Bank and served at several of their branches. He retired in 1983 in the position of one of the vice presidents for Mellon Bank. He was a member of The Memorial Park Presbyterian Church in Allison Park, Pennsylvania.

He was veteran of the Army Air Corp. serving as a P-47 Fighter pilot during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Lois Mock Petsinger whom he married on December 2, 1950, one son, Douglas Eric Petsinger of Decatur, Georgia, one grandson, Steven Petsinger of Decatur, Georgia, two brothers, John W. Petsinger of and James L. Petsinger both of Butler, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his sister, Mary Ann Napora and his brother, Robert Petsinger.

There will be no visitation. A Memorial Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday February 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend John Hollingsworth of The Memorial Park Presbyterian Church officiating.
