Six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. SWARTLEY, HELEN D., 92, formerly of Lansdale, died Sept. 21, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip H. Swartley. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home in Lansdale.

HELEN SWARTLEY Helen D. Swartley, 92, died Sept. 21, 2005 in Gwynedd House at Foulkeways. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip H. Swartley, who died in 1968 and was the founder of the former Swartleys, Inc., now Swartley Brothers Engineers. Mrs. Swartley moved to Foulkeways in 1990. Prior to that, she lived in Lansdale and was formerly of Line Lexington. Born in Edgefield, SC, she was a daughter of the late Mack H. and Ida (Harling) Deal. During the 1930s, Mrs. Swartleys late husband founded the former Lansdale Sports and Electric Store on West Main Street, Lansdale. After her marriage in 1940, she joined him in the business, which had moved across the street to 315 W. Main St., and was then known as Swartleys, Inc. She was the buyer/manager of the store for many years, retiring after the death of her husband. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale. Mrs. Swartley enjoyed traveling, entertaining and playing bridge. She is survived by brothers - in - law Robert W. "Bud" Swartley and Lloyd Swartley and his wife, Margot (Hiller), all of Lansdale; sister - in - law Dorothy Rosenberger and her husband, Harleigh, of Tampa, FL; and several generations of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, two brothers and one sister, she was preceded in death by a sister - in - law, Agnes (Kunze) Swartley. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446, where friends may call from 12:30 to 1 PM. MARIA LANNING Maria Alexandra "Alex" Lanning of Towamencin Twp. was surrounded by her loved ones as she died Wednesday morning, Sept. 21, 2005, following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 46. She was the wife of Dr. Richard D. Lanning, Jr. for more than 25 years. Born in Santa Marta, Colombia, she was the daughter of Marta and Willem den Blanken. Alex was the former owner/operator of Classic Stitches located in Kulpsville, where she shared her passion for heirloom sewing and English smocking. Her family said she was known for her warm smile and giving nature, was loved by many and will be sorely missed. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her brothers, Peter and Stefan; a sister, Adriana; and six nieces and nephews, Goddaughter, Isabela, and Jacob, Matthew, Kristiaan, Gabriella and Andres. Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour at 11 AM, Saturday morning, Sept. 24, followed by a memorial service at noon, to be held at BranchCreek Community Church, 100 S. Main St., Harleysville (one mile west of Exit 31 - Lansdale of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension). LANNING, MARIA ALEXANDRA "ALEX", 46, of Towamencin Township, died Sept. 21, 2005. She was the wife of Dr. Richard D. Lanning Jr.

KENNETH BENNER Kenneth Robert Benner, 50, of Quakertown, died Sept. 20, 2005 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Cheryl F. (Lilley) Benner. Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Paul and Helen (Landes) Benner. Kenneth attended York Avenue Elementary School, Lansdale, and graduated from Christopher Dock High School, Class of 1973. Kenneth was employed by Red Hill Ford, in the parts department, since 1999. Prior to this, he was employed by Keyser & Miller/Faulkner Ford, for 25 years, in the same capacity. From 1973 to 1974, he worked for Asplundh Tree Service. He was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Lansdale, and attended Calvary Church, Souderton. He was a boys club leader at East Swamp Mennonite Church. Kenneth was a NASCAR fan and ham operator. In addition to his wife of 21 years, Cheryl, he is survived by two sons, Travis Scott Benner and Andrew Neil Benner, both at home; parents - in - law, Charles and Shirley Lilley of Telford; sisters - in - law, Linda A. Martin and her husband, Gary, of Quakertown and Eileen K. Souder and her husband, Richard B., of Telford; brother - in - law, Les Lilley of Green Lane; seven nieces and nephews; and two grandnieces. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 PM at the Williams - Bergey - Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Franconia, where viewing will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM. Interment will be at Salford Mennonite Church cemetery. VINCENT MOOS Vincent J. Moos of Philadelphia, died Sept. 21, 2005 at Abington Memorial Hospital, at the age of 47. He was the husband of Deborah Dunn. Vincent worked in the field of Internet advertising as an independent consultant with major accounts in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to that, he was an engineer and proprietor of Linden Studio in Ambler. He was an accomplished bassist and also played cello and guitar. He and his wife enjoyed attending the opera. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents, William and Helen Moos of Yardley; three brothers and two sisters - in - law, Chris and Louann Moos of Lansdale, Frank Moos of Yardley and Bill Moos and Mary Kay Lewis of Elkins Park; a sister and brother - in - law, Kathy and John Merrick of Yardley; and 11 nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9 AM, Saturday at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Ave., Yardley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Interment will be private. CHARLES KODER Charles L. Koder, 81, of Effort, formerly of Hatfield, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 in Brookmont Healthcare Center, Chestnut Hill Twp. He and his wife, Nancy (Kramer) Koder, were married for 26 years. He was a son of the late Milton and Elle (Roberts) Koder. Mr. Koder was employed as a contractor for 30 years with Nash Contracting in Lansdale. Mr. Koder was of the Lutheran faith. He was a talented builder and contractor who also loved deer, wildlife and nature. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles Koder of New Bern, NC; a daughter, Linda Davis and her husband, George, of Emerald Isle, NC; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Lawrence - Hodkinson and her husband, Patrick, of Schwenksville and Nancy Christy and her husband, Paul, of Lansdale; a stepson, John Camburn of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and three great - grandchildren; a brother, Milton Koder and his wife, Gladys, of Telford; five sisters - in - law, Laura Koder of Sellersville, Doris Stover and her husband, Burt, of Green Lane, Pearl Espenship and her husband, Richard, of Lederach, Dorothy Mathes of Philadelphia and Josephine Kramer of Hatfield; two brothers - in - law, Paul Kramer and his wife, Dorothy, of Hatfield and Jim Kramer and his wife, Sara, of Schwenksville; and close friends, Patricia and Curtis Watson and their granddaughter, Deana. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Ralph Koder; three sisters, Gladys Knechel, Arlene Shellenberger and Esther Rosenberger; and two brothers - in - law, Earl Mathes and Walter Kramer, Jr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 A.M. in the Sadler - Suess Funeral Home, 33 N.
