MARGARET MACLAUGHLIN
Margaret L. "Marge" MacLaughlin, 92, of Cambridge, MD, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2006, from complications of a stroke, at the home of her daughter and son - in - law in Owego, NY. Born Jan. 20, 1913 in Cambridge, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Lucy Hearn LeCompte. She was raised and educated in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1930. She then moved to Philadelphia, where she was employed at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. She was secretary to the president of the college when she retired shortly after her marriage to Prof. Edmund H. MacLaughlin on June 13, 1941. They moved to a farm near Lansdale, where they raised their family. She was active in community affairs and in North Wales Baptist Church. She served as president of the Parent - Teacher Association and with her husband, was a charter member of the Upper Gwynedd Lions Club of Lions International. When her husband retired in 1967, they moved to their home on Cedar Grove Road, near East New Market, MD. Prof. MacLaughlin died Nov. 20, 1970. In 1976, Mrs. MacLaughlins sister, Florence Vickers, resided with her and in September, 1980, they moved to make their home at Jenkins Creek in Cambridge. Mrs. MacLaughlin had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Cambridge since 1928. After her return to Cambridge, she was active in her churchs programs and served as church secretary from 1969 to 1976. Until her illness, she was a principle pianist, sang in the choir, and actively participated in most major functions of the church. She served as a volunteer for 26 years at the E.S.H.C. and volunteered at Sunny Day Pre - School and Chesapeake Woods Nursing Home. Surviving are a son, Dr. Edmund J. MacLaughlin and his wife, Cheryl, of Cambridge; two daughters, Marjory Watson and her husband, Lewis, of Falls Church, VA, and Betty Frandsen and her husband, Jim, of Owego; seven grandchildren; nine great - grandchildren; four nieces; and grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Vickers; and two brothers, William A. LeCompte and Samuel H. LeCompte. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM, Tuesday night, Jan. 17 at Curran - Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Randall Blackmon, assisted by The Rev. M. Brent Coleman and Dr. C. Bruce Revel. Burial will follow at East New Market cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to First Baptist Church of Cambridge, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613 or Faith Baptist Fellowship, c/o Mrs. Shirley Kailianu, 8 Somerset Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.

HIGGINS, BRIAN M., 41, of Harleysville, died Jan. 12, 2006. Arrangements are by the Simcox - McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale.

WALSH, EVELYN A., 90, of Upper Gwynedd, died Jan. 11, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, P. Edgar Walsh. Arrangements are by the MacFadden Funeral Home in Belvidere, N.J.

MACLAUGHLIN, MARGARET L. "MARGE", 92, formerly of the North Penn area, died Jan. 10, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund H. MacLaughlin. Arrangements are by the Curran - Bromwell Funeral Home in Cambridge, Md.

WILMER HARTLEY Wilmer G. "Bill" Hartley, 86, of Harleysville, died Jan. 11, 2006 at Peter Becker Community, where he and his wife, Ruth (Price) Hartley, resided. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage in April, 2005. Born in Royersford, Wilmer was a son of the late George W. and Amy (Smith) Hartley. During World War II, he served his country as a member of Civilian Public Service. He retailed produce locally from his truck, using the name Hartleys Traveling Market. He then operated and owned the former Hartleys Glass and Mowers of Collegeville. He also drove a school bus for many years for the Collegeville/Trappe School District. Wilmer was a member of Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, Harleysville, where he was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He also managed the church cemetery. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, A. Denise Hartley of Coatesville and Jay W. Hartley of San Jose, CA; siblings, Grace Landes and her husband, Lester, of Quakertown, Dorothy Mansur and her husband, the Rev. Herman, of San Antonio, TX, Sara Chappel and her husband, Norman, of Telford, Chester Hartley and his wife, Cassy, of Pennsburg, Harold Hartley and his wife, Bette, of The Villages, FL, Ralph Hartley and his wife, Roberta, of North Wales, and Richard Hartley and his wife, Mary, of Breinigsville; and sister - in - law Marie Hartley of Sellersville, wife of the late Kenneth Hartley. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Monday, Jan. 16 at 11 AM at Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, 821 Main St., Harleysville, PA 19438, where the viewing will take place from 9 to 11 AM. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements are by the Williams - Bergey - Koffel Funeral Home, Franconia.

EVELYN WALSH Evelyn A. Walsh, 90, a resident of Gwynedd Square Center in Upper Gwynedd, passed away Jan. 11, 2006, at the center. She was preceded in death by her husband, P. Edgar Walsh, in 1966; a brother, Willard Jenkins; and a sister, Jayne Jenkins. Born Feb. 21, 1915 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes Joyce Jenkins. She resided in Belvidere, NJ for many years before moving to Lansdale five years ago. She was an assembler at the former IMCO Container Corp. in Belvidere, retiring in 1979. Mrs. Walsh was a parishioner of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Belvidere and a member of its Altar - Rosary Society. Surviving are two daughters, Jayne A. Walsh of Harleysville and Katie E. Walsh of Shawnee on the Delaware; three grandchildren, Matthew P. Glidden and his wife, Meghan, Melissa Glidden and her life partner, Michael Kelley, and John - David Kowchak and his wife, Stephanie, of Glenolden; two great - grandsons, Benjamin and Alexander Glidden; a nephew, William Jenkins; and a niece, Linda Weaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Monday, Jan. 16 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich St., Belvidere. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 PM, Sunday, at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick St., Belvidere. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Patrick R.C. BRIAN HIGGINS Brian M. Higgins, 41, of Harleysville, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 12, 2006, at his residence. He had been in failing health for 10 months. Born July 20, 1964 in Holy Redeemer Hospital, he was the beloved son of Charlotte M. (Meehan) Higgins, with whom he lived, and the late James J. Higgins, who died in February, 2005. He had been a lifelong resident of the North Penn area and graduated from Lansdale Catholic High School, Class of 1982. He was an avid fan of all sports, but especially loved playing golf with his buddies. In recent years, he had been working in landscaping for Shield Landscaping of Harleysville. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, James Higgins of Harleysville, Kevin Higgins and his wife, Linda, and Joseph Higgins and his wife, Colleen, all of Lansdale; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the uncle of Shane and Mandy Lightcap and Patrick and Mark Higgins. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Higgins, in 1999. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10 AM, Saturday, Jan. 14 at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike (at Supplee Road) in Upper Gwynedd, where the family will receive friends from 9 to 10 AM. Interment will be private. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brians name to Sacred Heart Free Home for Incurable Cancer, 1315 W.
