Gaeta, Ralph A.

Ralph A. Gaeta AGE: 88 OF: Clifton Heights, PA DIED: Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Delaware County Hospital Born on June 6, 1921 in Philadelphia, he was a resident of Clifton Heights for 51 years.

VETERAN: Ralph joined the United States Army in 1942 with the 84th Divison and served in World War II. He landed in France and fought at the Battle of Normandy, pushed through Europe, fought at the Battle of the Bulge, his unit was the first American Division to cross over the Rhine River and capture Germany. For his bravery during combat, he received numerous awards including - The European Theater Medal, The Silver Star Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, The Distinguished Unit Medal, The Performance Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.

EMPLOYMENT: Westinghouse Company, Lester, PA as a Pipe fitter for 30 years until his retirement.

A man devoted to his family. He enjoyed hunting and antique cars.

SURVIVORS: Survived by his wife of 63 years Amelia (nee Palumbo) Gaeta; Two Sons: Ralph (Virginia) Gaeta, Jr. of Middletown Twp, PA and John Gaeta of Clifton Heights, PA; One Daughter: Frances Gaeta Ollis of Edgmont, PA; Three Grandsons: Ralph Gaeta, III, Steven Gaeta and James William Ollis.

SERVICE INFORMATION: Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, Springfield and Bishop Avenues, Springfield, PA where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Marple Twp., PA.

MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Contributions in memory of Ralph Gaeta may be given to American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.

Susie R. (nee Hinkel) Gahres AGE: 87

EMPLOYMENT: Homemaker

ORGANIZATIONS: Church: Member Mt Hope United Methodist Church, Aston, PA where she served with the Busy Beavers and played on the Church-bowling league.

Other: A woman devoted to her home and family. She enjoyed quilting, baking, varous crafts and was a member of the Aston Lionesses.

SURVIVORS: Survived by her Beloved Husband Franklin L. Gahres; Loving mother of Darlene (Bruce) Wilkinson of Cumming, GA, Franklin L. (Deborah) Gahres of Framingham, MA, Mitchell (Dottie) Gahres of Glen Mills, PA and Patricia Boyer of Aston, PA; Loving Mam-Mam of Eleven Grandchildren and Great-Grandmother of Fourteen.

SERVICE INFORMATION: Relatives and Friends are invited to the viewing 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Mt Hope United Methodist Church followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Mt Hope Cemetery, 4020 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014.

Claire (nee Miller) Galloway AGE: 91

OF: Middletown Twp., Media, PA AND formerly of Havertown, PA

DIED: Friday, February 15, 2008 AT Home

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she had been a resident of Havertown, PA for 32 years before moving to Middletown Twp with her daughter in 1986.

EDUCATION: Graduate of Harrity Elementary School where she received the American Legion Award.

EMPLOYMENT: American Cancer Society as the Executive Director, Delaware County Unit; and was later promoted to Area Manager for the Pa. Division of the American Cancer Society in the Metro East Area (10 counties surrounding Phila). She retired in 1986 after 20 years of service. PRIOR EMPLOYMENT: Swift Canning Company, US Navy Yard, US Dept. of Agriculture and Thomas Robert Company as a Secretary.

ORGANIZATIONS: Church: Member Union Methodist Church, Havertown, PA. She served as a Sunday School teacher for beginners at Union Methodist and Ninth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia where she was a former member.

Other: A woman devoted to her family. Mrs. Galloway enjoyed Bridge and was a very proficient player. She also enjoyed swimming and reading. She was the past President of Chi Sigma Sorority.

Wife of 38 years to the late Charles Boyd Galloway who died in 1975.

SURVIVORS: Survived by A Daughter: Lynn DiDonato of Middletown Twp., PA; A grandson: Robert C. DiDonato of Middletown Twp., PA; A Granddaughter: Lauren DiDonato of Middletown Twp., PA; Two Great-Grandsons: Michael and Gabriel.

SERVICE INFORMATION: Funeral Service Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at The Minshall-Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA. Interment Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA. Friends may call Monday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

EMPLOYED: Pennsylvania Rehab, Inc, Swarthmore with her husband Until her retirement where she served as an Administrative Assistant.

Other: Member Chester Jayceetts. She enjoyed golfing and Bridge.

SURVIVORS: In 1951, she married John D. Galloway who survives her; Also survived by A Son: Scott D. Galloway of Middletown Twp., PA; A Brother; Robert Devlin of Naples, Florida; Also survived by Six Grandchildren and One Great-Grandson; Mother of the late Kristan L. Allen who died in 1997 and Kathleen A. Rankin who died in 1986.
