EMPLOYED: Founder and CEO of Upland Industries, Inc with offices in Taiwan and Mexico. He helped develop Jet engines and Radar. During World War II he assisted in the designed of the Grumman Torpedo Bomber.

ORGANIZATIONS: CHURCH: Active with St Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church where he was President in the 60's. Also served with the Board of Trustees and became Honorary Trustee. He was considered a pillar of the Church.

Other: Member Bartram-Sand Lodge F&AM, Ben Franklin Consistory and Lulu Temple. He was active with Chester Optimist Club and Oxford Senior Center.

SURVIVORS: Husband of the late Catherine Artymowich Kuc who died in 1988; He is survived by A Son: Richard Kuc of Wallingford, PA; Two Daughters: Catherine DeLuca of Linwood, PA and Elaine Mooney of Bethel Twp, PA; A Brother: John Kuc of Jennersville, PA; A Sister: Stephanie Berger of Jennersville, PA; Also survived by Seven Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren.

Other: Sandra was a devoted mother. She enjoyed the Shore, collecting Sea Glass and solving puzzles. Her cat Smokey had a special place in her heart.

Kunkle, Dorothy P.

Dorothy P. (Herman) Kunkle, 79, of Dover, died at 5:40 a.m., Sunday, September 16, 2001, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Irvin E. Kunkle.

The service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19th, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. The viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kunkle was born April 12, 1922, in York, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Edna (Heilman) Herman.

Mrs. Kunkle was employed by Wolcott Catering in the 1960’s, following this she was a homemaker. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in York.

Mrs. Kunkle is also survived by a son, Larry A. Kunkle of Dover; a daughter, Brenda J. Dale of York; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis and Robert Herman both of York; and a sister, Janette Arnold of Dover. Mrs. Kunkle was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Roy Herman and a granddaughter, Darlene Kunkle.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Thomas R. Jones a retired York Hospital Chaplain.

Kupsis, David C.

David C. Kupsis, age 67 years, of Brookhaven, PA died on Saturday August 16, 2008 at Taylor Hospice, Ridley Park, PA. Born in Ridley Park, PA he had been a resident of Brookhaven for the past 41 years.

A graduate of St. James High School Class of 1959. West Chester University Class of 1963. He also received his Masters degree from West Chester.

He had been employed by the West Chester Area School District as a elementary school teacher for 39 years retiring in 2002. He had taught fifth grade at the Penn Wood Elementary School .

He was an active member of the Church of Our Lady Charity Brookhaven, , PA where he taught CCD for 20 years. He had also coached youth baseball and basketball in the Brookhaven area. He was also a member of the Accordion Pops Orchestra.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mary (nee Bryan) Kupsis; 1 son: David C. Kupsis, Jr., of Perkiomenville, PA 1 daughter Diana (Eric) Barraclough of Brookhaven, PA. 1 brother Charles Kupsis of Trinity, FL. Grandfather of Noah & Ava Barraclough. He was the brother of the late Patricia Smarowsky.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday 10:30 AM from the Church of Our Lady of Charity, Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA. Interment SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery Marple Twp., PA. Kurash, Jr., Stephen

KURASH, STEPHEN Jr. on November 7, 2006 a longtime resident of Gibbsboro, NJ. Age 86. Father of Stephen P. Kurash and his wife Doris and Anthony M. Kurash. Beloved grandfather of Laura A. Kurash. Mr. Kurash was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia (class of 1938) and Drexel University. He was a United States Army/Air Corp. Veteran of WWII. Prior to retirement in 1983, he was an electrical engineer for Bell Telephone System for almost 40 years. Mr. Kurash was a avid golfer and Philadelphia sports fan, and a longtime member of Laurel Oak and Medford Village Country Clubs. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Kushnerick, John P.

John P. Kushnerick AGE: 79

OF: Media, Middletown Twp., PA He had been a resident of Middletown Twp., PA for 52 years. DIED: Friday, April 18, 2008

AT Riddle Memorial Hospital Born: Upper Lehigh, PA, a small coal-mining town near Hazelton, and was raised by his grandparents and, later, several aunts and uncles. He used his grandparents last name, unofficially, and was best known as Peter Mattie until he graduated from Foster Township High School in Freeland, PA.

Graduate Wilkes University with a BS Degree in Chemistry, Wilkes Barre, PA.

US Navy during the Korean War. U.S. Naval Carrier Aviation and Naval Aviation Reserve where he also served as a fighter pilot. He was qualified in nine different aircraft, both propeller and jet powered. Over 250 accident-free carrier landings were attained on the USS Cabot, USS Mindoro, USS Coral Sea, USS Oriskany, and USS Roosevelt, during the Korean-war years. Most were accomplished in the famed F4U Corsair.

Mr. Kushnerick was a Publishing Executive at Chilton Company, where he was employed for 33 years. During his tenure he served in a variety of editorial publishing and managerial positions concluding as Publishing V.P. and General Manager of Chilton Book Company.

Earlier in his career, Kushnerick was a Materials and Process Engineer with Vertol (Boeing) where his team developed manufacturing processes for adhesive bonding of plastic structures to metal in production of helicopter rotor blades.

In 1957, at Chilton, Kushnerick began as an editor on Aerospace Management magazine, the company's start-up attempt to penetrate the emerging market for supersonic aircraft, missiles, spacecraft and satellite projects.

In 1964 he joined Chilton's core automotive division and became editor of MOTOR/AGE magazine. In 1967, he was named Editor and Publisher.

His reputation as a publishing innovator and rebuilder of under-performing magazines, earned him other diverse editorial and publishing assignments including Automotive Industries and Instruments & Control Systems, in the high-technology group.

In 1973, he became editorial director and publishing vice president for all Chilton Automotive magazines. Start-up magazines he initiated and managed included: Automotive Marketing; Your Car & Your Money; Oil & Gas Energy; and an automotive catalog division named Datalog.

In 1980, Kushnerick's responsibilities at Chilton shifted from the magazine division to the Chilton Book Company and to Chilton the Research Division. Success there resulted in his being named to the Executive Committee and becoming the reporting authority for all non-magazine operations.

Kushnerick retired from corporate life in 1990 and started a consulting business operating as Expert Automotive Research Services (EARS). He contracted with Hearst Publications for editorial and marketing assignments on Popular Mechanics, Sports Afield, MOTOR magazine and related technical manuals.

EARS also designed and produced magazines and newsletters for automotive organizations, as a contract publisher.

ORGANIZATIONS: Church: Member United Methodist Church, Lima, PA where he served on the Administrative Board during the church's growth years in the 1950's, and then continued in some of the activities of The Methodist Men. Other: In civil aviation, he held a Commercial Pilot license and flew light aircraft on business trips. Mr. Kushnerick's long affiliation with the aviation, automotive and the publishing industries earned him many honors and professional association positions. He was a member of the Association of Naval Aviation, Tail Hook Association, Flying Midshipman Association, Society of Automotive Engineers, The Automotive Academy, The Automotive Information Council and the Association of Aerospace Materials and Process Engineers. He also served on the following Boards of Directors, over the years: The Chilton Company, Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), Cardinal Publishing, Progressive Business Publications (Advisory Board), Automotive Information Council, Certified Automotive Repairmen's Society (Founder), Equipment & Tool Institute.

Among the host of awards he was accorded were the: Distinguished Service Award of the Automotive Hall of Fame; Founders Award for Equipment & Tool Institute: Life-Time Achievement Award of the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers/PA. He was also listed in Who's Who In America.

A devoted family man who had many hobbies including sports, aviation and gardening. He enjoyed planting and aiding both vegetables and flowers to grow from the earth. He referred to this joy as "digging in the dirt", and considered it therapy.

Survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Leatrice (Letty) Broad, (his high school sweetheart). One Son: J. Douglas Kushnerick, (wife Bonita Denlinger); One Daughter: Susan Powell (husband David); Two Grandchildren, Victoria and Elizabeth Powell; Two half brothers: Joseph and Albert Kushnerick.

Funeral Service Thursday 1:00 p.m. at Lima United Methodist Church, 209 N. Middletown Road, Lima, PA. Interment immediately following the service and will be announced at the time of the service. Friends may call Wednesday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday after 11:00 a.m. at The Minshall-Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA.

Georgia (nee Vourlaki) Kyriakos OF: Aston Twp, PA DIED: Friday August 7, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family.

BORN IN: Nikaia of Piraeus, Greece she had been a resident of Aston Twp for 46 years.

Mrs. Kyriakos was educated in Greece

Penn Delco School District working in the School Cafeteria from 1971 to 1978.

Mrs. Kyriakos was a woman devoted to her home and family. Spending time with her grandchildren and family were very special to her.

She loved to cook and enjoyed fine dining with friends and family.

She loved Sunday drives and trips to the beach and Greece.

Survived by her husband of 47 years, Paul Peter Kyriakos; Three Sons: Peter (Lynne) Kyriakos of Nottingham, PA, Steven (Gina) Kyriakos of Newtown Square, PA and James (Lisa) Kyriakos of Glenmoore, PA; Proud grandmother of Paulina, Devin, Bridget, Sebastian, Steven, Niko, Kevin and Brian Kyriakos.

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Road, Media, PA 19063 where friends may call after 10:00 a.m.

Interment Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, PA.
